Sequence Generation on Oracle Client

Hi...
We have to create sequences on the oc4j client with the format <mobileuser name><date stamp><sequence number>.How do we get the mobileuser name from the mobile client authentication.Can u please tell us the API to login the mobile client and how it can be passed on to include in the sequence.
Thanks in Advance....

You need to place that code where ever you are creating your user session object. I don't know the architecture you are using so I really can't tell you exactly where to place it.
http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19188_01/doc/B15920/nvappdev.htm
Here is what the documentation has on the subject:
<blockquote>
7.2.4.3.2 Web-to-Go User Context
Web-to-Go creates a user context (or user profile) for every user who logs in to Web-to-Go. Web applications always run within the user's specific context. Servlets, which are always part of an application, can use the user context (in which it is running) to access the services provided by Web-to-Go. The user context can then be used to obtain the following information.
Name of the user
Mode the user is running in (online or offline)
Application that a user is accessing
The database connection
Roles that the user has for this application
Name or value pairs stored in the registry for the user
Servlets can access the user profile through the standard named java.security.Principal obtained through the getUserPrincipal method of the javax.servlet.http.HttpServletRequest class.
This object can also be obtained from the HttpSession object. For example,
public void doGet(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response)
throws ServletException, IOException{
// Retrieve the database connection from the User Profile,
// which can be accessed from the HttpRequest
HttpSession session = request.getSession(true);
OraUserProfile profile = (OraUserProfile)session.getAttribute("x-mobileserver-user");
7.2.4.3.3 Database Connectivity in Java Code
Servlets can obtain a connection to the Oracle database, using the following statement.
HttpSession sess = request.getSession();
WTGUser user = (WTGUser)sess.getAttribute("x-mobileserver-user");
Connection conn = user.getConnection() ;

    Application Version: 11G R2
    Company Name: Oracle
    Sequencer Version: 4.6
    App-V Client Version Tested On: 4.6
    Operating System Sequenced On: Server 2003 R2 SP2
    Pre-requisites: None
    Client Operating Systems Successfully Deployed To: Server 2003 R2 SP2 (x86), Server 2008 (x86), Server 2008 R2.
    Posted by non-Microsoft Employee: Kevin Kaminski, Big Hat Group Inc.
    Steps to Sequence the Application:
    Before sequencing you may want a dummy user and system ODBC DNS in place so that the sequence can see other DSNs at the machine level.
    Launch setup.exe.
    Make sure InstantClient is selected and click Next.
    Change the installation folder to Q:\Oracle11.001.
    Ignore PATH error.
    Select Finish.
    Click Close.
    Most environments provide a TNSNAMES.ORA and SQLNET.ORA files that are customized for the customers environment. It is a good idea to keep these files outside of the sequence to make them easier to update especially if you are going to use multiple sequences with the Oracle client. Make a folder off of the root of C:\ and put the files in there and set the environment variable  based on the example below.
    TNS_ADMIN=c:\OracleTNS
    Create necessary ODBC DSNs.
    Known Issues/Limitations: Oracle is working on a client to be supported on Windows 7 and Server 2008 R2. A release is expected in July 2010.
    Approximate Sequencing Time: 30 minutes
    Other (Optional fields)
    App-V friendly copy protection scheme?  N/A
    Additional Notes/Links: N/A
    Custom scripts to assist in the process: Can use pre launch script to update TNSNAMES.ORA and SQLNET.ORA if it is inside of the sequence.

  • Oracle Client 11g R2 sequencing issue with App-V 5.0

    Hi All,
    Can anyone help on a issue that I face while I try to create the ODBC connection after I have published the sequenced application. I get the error message as shown :
    Have already tried sequencing by creating the Dummy ODBC user DSN and system DSN on the base machine  before sequencing and have added the TNSNames.ora path as an environment variable.
    Thank in advance for your help!Installation of 32 bit and 64 bit 11.2.0.1 Oracle client on windows 7

    Akanksha,
    If your application is 64-bit, you need only 64-bit Oracle client software which installs 64-bit ODBC.
    There is no need to install 32-bit Oracle client.
    I am suspecting that some of the required components are missing from your installation.
    1)Are you able to connect to the Database using the the sql*plus ?
    (You need to open the sql*plus session from the machine where ODBC application is running)
    2) Try to run the application as administrator user and see whether it helps.
    3)What is the type of client installation which you performed ? (Administrator/Runtime/Custom)
    If it is custom type, might be you are missing some components.
    Try to install as Administrator and see whether it helps.
    Regards,
    Ravi

  • Oracle Client install sequence before EPM install..

    Hi All,
    I'm trying to install EPM 11.1.2.1 on a Windows 2008 R2 Standard Server(64 bit). IIS 7. This a development/proof of concept set up.
    I want to install Foundation, EPM Architect, Essbase, Planning, Reporting and Analysis, HFM, Strategic Finance and FDM on the same machine.
    I want to install an Oracle 11g database 64 bit database to use as repository.
    According to the Installation documents, EPM Architect and HFM support 64 bit Oracle client, but Strategic Finance and FDM require 32 bit Oracle client.
    I installated them in the following order.
    Oracle 11g 32 bit client
    Oracle 11g 64 bit database
    Oracle 11g 64 bit client
    I faced issues in configuring EPM Architect where it didn't recognize ODAC installation.
    1. What should be the order in which I should install the Oracle 11g 64 bit database, Oracle 11g 32 bit client and Oracle 11g 64 bit client ?
    2. To install ODAC (ODP for ASP.NET ), I had to use the custom option for the clients, but the custom option shows listener and MTS services.
    Should I install them for each client ?
    Thanks.

    If you are installing this one machine then I would take the route of Oracle DB, 32bit client, 64bit client
    Cheers

  • Fetch out of Sequence after upgrade oracle 11

    Hi,
    Since we are updating our customers from oracle 8,9 or 10 to oracle 11, we get the error ORA-01002 'fetch out of sequence' alot.
    There is nothing changed in the database structure or our programming and it occurs on different tables.
    The only thing we've noticed is, if we use a oracle client 10 on oracle 11 database we don't have the problem.
    Is there a problem with the oracle 11 client or another solution that prevent the error.
    The option to install an oracle 10 client with every customer is not a solution
    because we don't manage every database of our customer but we have to work with it.
    Thx in advance!
    Friendly regards,
    Gregor

    Indeed we find it also a weird problem, but it is growing problem because more of our customors are updating to oracle 11.
    And we find it also difficult to believe it depends on the client software.
    Could it be a database userrights problem that is changed a little bit in the oracle 11? Because we see its a problem between tables from different users.
    We didn't change anything with a upgrade to oracle 11.

    10.2.0.1 is not supported/certified on Win 2008, so expect issues with the install and/or with using the software.
    Why cannot you use a supported version - minimum is 10.2.0.4, which is only available to customers with an Extended Support contract

  • Sequence generation(urgent)

    Hi
    im new to jdev..I would like to set sequence generation for table fields.Im using JSp as my client and populating fields in the jsp screen.pls let me know is there any thing to set on wizard or any help in tutorial..thnks..

    I'm assuming that you've added your code segment to EmpImpl.java.
    The first parameter to SequenceImpl() should be the name of a database sequence, not the name of a table column.
    Once you've changed that, if you still get the same error, you need to check whether EmpImpl.java has a method called setId(), since this is what your error is complaining about. Your entity should contain accessor (getter and setter) methods by default. If your entity doesn't have these methods, then edit the entity, select the Java tab in the Entity Object Wizard, and check "accessor methods" for the entity object class.
    Lastly, I recommend testing your business components in the business component browser (aka the tester). This is a way of making sure your business logic works before you try to run your client.

  • Sequence object in Oracle

    Hello experts, I am using oracle 11g.I have a sequence to generate some ids.If I want that my sequence has been reset like i will start from starting again.It is possible to re initiate a sequence object in Oracle.If it is my client's requirement. Thank You regards aaditya

    You could always use ALTER SEQUENCE
    or simply re-create your sequence. However this may invalidate database objects.
    cheers

  • Query works in Oracle Client but not JDBC

    The query is as follows:
    SELECT COUNT(*) THE_COUNT FROM sentorders WHERE ordersentdate BETWEEN '15-JAN-01' and '15-JAN-03';When I run this query in the Oracle client (SQL+) it tells me that THE_COUNT is 4 which is correct but when I use the following JDBC code I get THE_COUNT is 0 which is incorrect.
    public ResultSet viewTotalSentOrdersByDate()
      throws SQLException, Exception {
          String beginDate = "15-JAN-01";
          String endDate = "15-JAN-03";

  • Error in installing Oracle client 11g on Windows 2008 R2 (64bit) XenApp 6

    I am trying to install "win64_11gR2_client.zip" Oracle 11g Client 64bit on Windows 2008 R2 that has been clamped and restricted by our security department. Details of the clamp:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/885409
    The Windows 2008 R2 server is running on CITRIX XenApp 6.
    When we try to install the client on a normal version of Windows 2008 R2 without the Clamp, the installation follows through and successfully. However, when we try to install the 11g Client on the Clamped Windows 2008 R2, we get the error below:
    [INS-08802] Unable to instantiate the View class referred by View ID 'SummaryUI'
    This indicates the primary issue is with the clamp. My issue now is knowing what exactly is causing the error. what restrictions should I enable from the clamp in order to get the installation working?
    Here is the error log:

    Hello Wang,
    > C *** ERROR => Couldn't initialize Oracle client library,
    Have you also restored / re-installed the oracle client libs on your windows system? It seems like the oracle client libs are missing.
    Regards
    Stefan

  • Using Notes and Oracle Client in the same application on Linux crashes

    This thread is copied from a thread of the same name under Database - General, since I cannot get any replies there.
    Could someone from Oracle PLEASE comment on this.
    Our application on Linux loads the Notes client libraries and then the Oracle client libraries. The application will crashes when connectimg to an Oracle server. This is because the T_* symbols in libnnz11.so get fixed up into libnotes.so rather than locally into libnnz11.so where the functions are defined.

    We have circumvented the problem for the time being by making sure that we load the Oracle libraries before Notes, but we cannot go with that as a long term solution.
    In my opinion the Oracle library is wrongly linked since all the T_* functions are defined in libnnz11.so. When we load Oracle first, the loader debug trace shows the correct fixups. When we load Notes first, the loader trace shows the incorrect fixups. We are using dlopen(libor9i.so, RTLD_LOCAL) for Oracle and dlopen(libnotes.so, RTLD_LOCAL) for Notes. libor9i.so has a dependency on libclntsh.so.10.1.
    An opinion would really be appreciated.

    Thanks again.
    We don't have an Oracle support contract because we do not use Oracle ourselves. We supply an application that synchronises data between multiple data servers and server types, of which Oracle is one and Notes is another, as well as LDAP servers and many other types.
    Producing a full resolved binary is therefore not an option since the types of data server are configured when the apploication is installed, and then the client software for each server is loaded as required.
    The end user of the application supplies the client libraries and has a support contract for the servers, in particular Oracle and Notes in this case. So the other option is for the end user to raise a ticket using his support contract, but he is reluctant to do that since he considers that this is our problem as we supply the application that is having the problem. So we are in a dead water area. We do not want to take out a support contract just to get what is an Oracle product problem resolved. I imagine that this problem is something that has not been encountered before, because our use of the client library in conjunction with other client libraries is probably unusual.
    So that is why I am hoping, without any success so far, that someone from Oracle will pick this up.

  • Oracle Client 11gR2 installation issue on RHEL v5.4 64-bit

    Hi,
    I am trying to install Oracle Client software 11gR2 on RHEL v5.4 64-bit. I have resolved all the libraries dependency as well as Kernel changes as suggested by the installer. The error in the log file is as attached. At present I have "skipped" this error and proceeded with installation.
    While installing the client, the installer fails while configuring the Net CA with error:

    Also when I invoke the SQL Client; sqlplus user@db and enter the password, the sqlplus exits without any error and returns to the terminal console. Please note earlier I has getting a SELinux violation and have changed it to "permissive" mode
    Please let me know how to resolve NetCA installation and the sqplus issue.
    Thanks & regards,
    Vinay

    Hi,
    Thet NetCA error occurs during installation and I believe the installer should take care of the ORACLE_HOME variable setting.
    But before invoking sqlplus I have set the ORACLE_HOME and LD_LIBRARY_PATH setting in the .bash_profile as mentioned in the installation guide. The snippet of the profile file is:
    export ORACLE_HOME=~/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/client_1
    export JAVA_HOME=$ORACLE_HOME/jdk
    export PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/bin:$JAVA_HOME/bin:$PATH;
    export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$ORACLE_HOME:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH
    export TNS_ADMIN=$ORACLE_HOME/network/admin
    export TWO_TASK=mmcoedb
    I am able to tnsping to the server/service name too but when I try to login using the user/password using sqlplus, it simply exits without any error.
    Please let me know how to resolve the error.
    Best regards,
    Vinay
