Sequencing in OSB

Hi,
I have a small issue regarding sequence in OSB. I have to poll data from Oracle DATABASE and push data  to another Oracle DATABASE. For polling I made a one DBadapter. and for insert I made another DBadapter. The polling and insert operation is working fine but I have to make it synchronusly. means Whatever data comes first in polling DB will be picked up first and until and unless all the transformation is processed and inserted into DB, the second data will not be processed.
My enviornment is cluster enviornment ,There is 3 OSB manage server and 1 application server.
Should I introduced any JMS between transportation, or we need to introduced anything between them.
Please help
Thanks

With current setup you'll have concurrent requests from each of your managed servers.
Moreover, since you're using the standard DB adapter you just cannot grab the lock in time (before obtaining the record). Grabbing a lock in proxy will not guarantee the order.
Hence => You'll need to target the DB adapter to one managed server only.
I was told setting JCA to "singleton" would put the DB adapter into master/slave mode (i.e. only one MS works at a time, the rest are on standby), but that setting unfortunately doesn't work under OSB.   I did not verify it though -- who knows, may be it got fixed in the latest versions? I'd try if I were you - if it works, you do not need anything else.
Biz: throttling is per domain; at runtime it is distributed equally between managed servers => you should set concurrency to the value equal to number of managed servers.
Workmanager: I'd created 2 -- one for proxy and one for biz.

  • Problem mapping to unbounded sequence in OSB

    I have a problem with the Xquery transformation editor in Oracle Service Bus.
    In the source I have an element with maxOccurs="unbounded" and in the target I have a sequence with maxOccurs="unbounded" containing an element with maxOccurs="1".
    The problem is in the Xquery mapping interface all sequences are ignored. Thus it looks like 'targetElement' can only occur once and so I don't know how to resolve this. Is there a way to view the sequences in the mapping interface or something?

  • Implement message sequencing in OSB Weblogic 11g version 11.1.1.5.0

    Hi All,
    We have implemented a distributed jms queue from where a jms proxy service picks messages and delivers to the target system . We want to deliver messages in order i.e. FIFO way
    Auto Generate Unit of Order is enabled for this distributed queue .
    But the messages are getting delivered out of order to destination . Like if there are 5 messages received at 5 different timings in my queue and the delivery of messages to destination is completely unordered first message delivered at 3rd number , last at 1st number etc. .
    I want it to be First in First out way (FIFO) .
    Please help .

  • OSB Resequencer in 12c

    Hi Team,
    I am facing some challenges while implementing re-sequencer in OSB 12c. I created a simple process where in I read the data from file and write into DB. In the pipeline, I am using Standard Resequencer and using groupID as EmpDept and SequenceID as EmpID(Pls refer below schema). When I try to execute the process, file is not getting deleted from the source folder and in the logs I can see the error as
    Caused By: oracle.tip.resequencer.infra.exception.ResequencerException: ORARES-01301:[Sequence ID validation error]Sequence ID validation failure."SequenceId value is does not fall with the sequence range".Possible Fix:SequenceID value is incorrect. Either XPATh Expression returned null or sequenceID value  does not fall within the sequence range. Check the XPATH expression, fix the payload and resubmit.
    I reported the body and could see that sequenceId is getting the value of -1. Not sure where it comes from because I am using a valid combination of SequenceId as 1 and increment by 1 . And my data also confronts to the same.
    I am able to implement the same functionality in SOA12c using same configurations without any issues.
    Any pointers why same thing is not working in OSB ? pls. suggest.

  • OSB Resequencer?

    OESB has inbuilt support for resequencing:-
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12524_01/doc.1013/e12638/sequencer.htm
    OSB doesn't appear to have any similar functionality as far as I can tell. Is this correct? If so are there any plans to add this or incorporate the OESB implementation?

    Yes OSB has no such out-of box feature.
    Feature gap of OSB wrt OESB will be addressed in future OSB releases. Specific dates are not available for this feature. Please talk to Oracle rep informing your need for this feature and hopefully will be prioritized to meet your requirements.
    Thanks

  • OSB Polling in sequence

    We have the following scenario.
    I have to poll a database using DBAdapter in OSB for populated records.
    The records must be processed in order for eg InsertEmp , UpdateEmp and DeleteEmp are events and must be delivered in the same sequence.Delete should go not go first before Insert.How to achieve this using the DBAdapter.Could this be done with any inbuilt columns or the ROWID in the table.
    The polled records are written to a JMS.How to again avoid any wrong sequencing incase of clustered queues.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    The requirement may sound simple, but it is actually very difficult to implement 100% guaranteed messaging ordering... You pretty much have to reduce everything to a single thread approach, and that will probably have impacts on performance...
    For the weblogic JMS side, there is Message Unit-of-Order... So if you can get there ordered you should be ok... Have a look on the limitations at the end of the page...
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/web.1111/e13727/uoo.htm#JMSPG389
    For the DBAdapter Oracle documentation clearly states...
    When polling the database for events, you can order the returned rows by the selected column by using the Order By list. The best practice is to choose <No Ordering>, as message ordering regardless is not guaranteed without extra configuration.Unfortunately it doesn't say what's that extra configuration needed to do it... At least I couldn't find...
    I would try some of the following... They are all in this document http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/integration.1111/e10231/adptr_db.htm
    Doing Synchronous Post to BPEL (Allow In-Order Delivery)
    Update a Sequencing Table
    Specifying Advanced Options... Look for GetActiveUnitOfWork...
    This is a very interesting topic though, please let us know how you go...
    Hope this helps...
    Cheers,
    Vlad

  • Problem with a db sequence in DBAdapter (OSB)

    Hello,
    I'm having problems with a dbAdapter every time I make a installation in a new environment.
    I have a dbadapter that increments a db sequence (custom sql: select seq_onl_audit.nextval from dual) but every time I install the service in a new environment, restart the server and run it for the first time it returns a completly different number.
    Directly in Oracle DB: select seq_onl_audit.nextval from dual = 234
    In OSB: select seq_onl_audit.nextval from dual = 23 (constraint exception!)
    How can I solve this? There's any cache in OSB/Weblogic for this?
    Thank you,
    Lara Fernandes.

    Let me understand what you are trying to do.
    You have created a sequence in DB and you call it from OSB service to fetch the incremented value.
    This works fine.
    When you move the OSB service to another environment it starts giving error/incorrect values while the same sequence when run from the DB still gives correct value?
    Questions:
    Are you pointing to the same DB instance from both/all OSB environments?
    Are you also using the same user to connect to the DB from each environment?
    Can you please post the SQL for your sequence here.

  • Gnerating sequence number in OSB

    I have a proxy service which picks up XML messages from a JMS queue. I want to insert a running sequence number in one of the node of the XML. I then want to call a business service which will send the XML out via a webservice.
    Is there a option in OSB where I can generate a sequence number or do I have to use the database or is there some option in jms queue. Can the JMS correlation Id be a running sequence number?
    Note: The sequence number will have to be unique and should continue the sequence even after server restart.
    Appreciate your help on this.
    Regards

    Please check this post.
    Using Weblogic jms message id for unique id
    Weblogic's JMS Message ID's are statistically unique and it has a timestamp component included in it... So you can expect an increasing sequence.

  • OSB File append

    I have setup a File protocol based Business Service in OSB. This Business Service is called by a Proxy Service after setting the file name in the outbound transport header and assigning the text to be written to the file. When executed, the file is successfully created. When the proxy service is executed again, a new file is created. I would like the data to be appended to the existing file. How do we achieve this?
    I know there is a property - 'Append' which should be set to true in case of file adapters. I tried setting the outbound transport header to 'Append', 'append', 'jca.file.append', 'jca.file.Append'. None of these seem to help.

    Thanks for the link. That really helped!
    However, though the file is created by the file adapter, the contents are missing. While configuring the File Adapter in JDev, I defined the following XSD as the message for the write operation.
    <xsd:element name="log">
    <xsd:complexType>
    <xsd:sequence>
    <xsd:element name="logMessage" type="xsd:string" />
    </xsd:sequence>
    </xsd:complexType>
    </xsd:element>
    And I am sending the following in the SOAP Request...
    <log:log xmlns:log="http://myNS/LogFileWriter">
    <log:logMessage>My Log message...</log:logMessage>
    </log:log>
    I expect the value 'My Log message...' to be written to the file. However, it is always empty.

    In Variable: provider
    TerminalKingBranch look like this:
    Label: TerminalKing
    Operator: =
    Value: "King"
    Message is never routed by TerminalKingBranch even message is <ter:process><ter:provider>King</ter:provider></ter:process>
    I try repalce double quotes with single quotes without effect.
    Message is always routed by Default route node.
    Please help.
    Thanks.

  • OSB - Iterating over large XML files with content streaming

    Hi @ll
    I have to iterate over all item in large XML files and insert into a oracle database.
    The file is about 200 MB and contains around 500'000, and I am using OSB 10gR3.
    The XML structure is something like this:
    <allItems>
    <item>.....</item>
    <item>.....</item>
    <item>.....</item>
    <item>.....</item>
    <item>.....</item>
    </allItems>
    Actually I thought about using a proxy service with enabled content streaming and a "for each" action for iterating
    over all items. But for this the whole XML structure has to be materialized into a variable otherwise it is not possible!
    More about streaming large files can be found here:
    [http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13159_01/osb/docs10gr3/userguide/context.html#large_messages]
    There is written "When you enable streaming for large message processing, you cannot use the ... for each...".
    And for accessing single items you should should use an assign action with a xpath like "$body/allItems/item[1]";
    this works fine and not the whole XML stream has to be materialized.
    So my idea was to use the "for each" action and processing seqeuntially all items with a xpath like:
    $body/allItems/item[$counter]
    But the "for each" action just allows iterating over a sequence of xml items by defining an selection xpath
    and the variable that contains all items. I would like to have a "repeat until" construct that iterates as long
    $body/allItems/item[$counter] returns not null. Or can I use the "for each" action differently?
    Does the OSB provides any other iterating mechanism? I know there is this spli-join construct that supports
    different looping techniques, but as far I know it does not support content streaming, is this correct?
    Did I miss somehting?
    Thanks a lot for helping!
    Cheers

    Hi Dani,
    Yes, according to me this would be the best approach. You can use content-streaming to pass this large xml to ejb and once it passes successfully EJB should operate on this. If you want any result back (for further routing), you can get it back from EJB.
    EJB gives you power of java to process this file and from java perspective 150 MB is not a very LARGE data. Ensure that you are using buffering. Check out this link for an explanation on Java IO Streams and, in particular, buffered streams -
    http://java.sun.com/developer/technicalArticles/Streams/ProgIOStreams/
    Try dom4J with xpp (XML Pull Parser) parser in case you have parsing requirement. We had worked with 1.2GB file using this technique.

  • How to get Database functions into xquery/XSLT in OSB 12c

    Hello All,
    How to make use of  functions orcl:sequence-next-val and orcl:query-database in xslt/xquery in OSB 12c.
    I need to do the below logic in xslt/xquery and used it in replace activity . But in OSB 12c I don't see these function. Request to provide me the solution to do it in OSB.
    XSLT in SOA
    <xsl:when test="/ns0:CreateEvent/ns0:Header/header:SourceName != &quot;&quot;">
                <ns1:googleEventSourceId>
                  <xsl:value-of select="orcl:query-database(concat(&quot;select google_event_source_id from enterprise.google_event_source where google_event_source=&quot;,&quot;'&quot;,/ns0:CreateEvent/ns0:Header/header:SourceName,&quot;'&quot;),false(),false(),&quot;jdbc/PRDatasource&quot;)"/>
                </ns1:googleEventSourceId>
              </xsl:when>
    <ns1:googleMapEventId>
              <xsl:value-of select="orcl:sequence-next-val(&quot;enterprise.google_map_event_seq&quot;,&quot;jdbc/PRDatasource&quot;)"/>
            </ns1:googleMapEventId>
    please see below code is just part of my transformation.
    Regards,
    TJ.
