(SERIOUS) iMovie Frozen. Whole Laptop Unresponsive.

Ok, this is really serious. I was using iMovie on my laptop and for no reason it just froze. I can't move my mouse.
The last time this happened to me was almost 4 months ago. I held down the power button and forced my Macbook Pro to shut down. When I booted it up again and went back on iMovie, everything was gone. All my projects and everything in my event library's, gone. While at first I was really distraught I realised I still had my footage on my iPod, so I just imported the clips again. (For some reason it wouldn't let me import in any of the event libraries I already had, so I had to make a new one)
This time though I had lots more footage for my projects and I needed to delete some of the clips off my iPod to save space.
So I'm really scared to shut my laptop down because I don't want to lose my project. I've spent 4 months working on this, spending about two hours every day filming. I really don't want to lose my work. I still have some footage left on my iPod, but not nearly as much as I did. Someone please give my some guidance here, I'm very anxious right now

I am getting the same with my iMac (latest model, 24gig RAM). iMovie is locking my entire iMAC up. At times, it is "paused" with message Application Memory is low. I have 24G RAM... i should not be running out of memory. I am also finding that on large projects, iMovie is not showing previews of the clips, rather just blacked out until i put my cursor on top.
I am wondering if there are some major memory leaks in the latest version of iMove (running 10.0.5)

I also have Jolly's problem. I found the iMovie 9.0.9 folder and tried to launch the older version of iMove. It would not launch. I removed all of the iMovie preferences from the Preferences folder, removed iMove 10 from the applications folder, and restarted my Mac. iMove 9.0.9 still won't launch and I can't access my videos created with the older version of iMovie. Is there a way to uninstall iMovie 10 and reinstall iMovie 9.0.9?
I am running Yosemitie on a iMac.

Macbook Pro Retina Display Cracked, is it replaceable or Do I have to replace the Whole Laptop?

Hi, I bought a Macbook Pro Retina about two months ago....
And a few days ago I cracked the Display on the Bottom Left Corner (3 inch)...
Now I am getting vertical and Horizontal Lines.....
I called a Apple Premium Reseller they told me I have to repalce the whole **** Laptop... is it real or I can just change the Display assembly only?

Assuming that it is just the screen that is broken, it should be replaceable, but it will cost a lot. (How much I don't know.) Of course, if you dropped it or something similar, there could be all manner of other damage that you can't see. I dropped my previous MacBook Pro (didn't crack the screen), and when it finally failed, the diagnosis was a damaged logic board, and the total repair cost would have been over $1,000, with no guarantees that other components might not also be damaged. I opted to simply replace the machine rather than pay that much and run the risk of other expensive repairs in the future.

You can't upgrade from Mac OS X 10.4 to Mac OS X 10.5 via a download. You would have to buy the DVD and upgrade that way.
Any applications that were using Classic emulation (OS 9 applications) in Mac OS X 10.4 would be lost in an upgrade to Mac OS X 10.5.

That depends on who does the refurbishing. If you buy a refurbished Mac directly from Apple, it will be as good as a new Mac and will even have the one-year warranty that comes with a new Mac. If you buy a "refurbished" Mac from an eBay seller, all bets are off.

How do I stop my whole laptop freezing when I use Firefox to visit a site that uses Java aplets?

For the last few weeks, whenever I've used Firefox to visit a trusted site that uses Java aplets, I've got a warning advising me to update Java. But when I check Java, it tells me I already have the most up to date version. However, as of today, whenever I visit the same trusted site my whole laptop freezes - cursor disappears, everything stops. I can't even use Restart - I have to manually disconnect the power. The same happens when I attempt to access Java via the Control Panel (to uninstall) - the moment the cursor hovers over Java, everything freezes and I have to disconnect power. I'm using Vista Home Premium SP2 32-bit. HELP!!

Potentially unsafe versions of the Java plugin are "Click to Play" blocked, meaning that you have to click to activate Java for each site. See the [[How to enable Java if it's been blocked]] article for more information.

The touch screen has frozen and is unresponsive. I tried synching it to my Mac, updating it, dumping my apps and resetting as new, as the tech support guy at Apple suggested, but it still does not work. Now what? Sadly, my warrenty has expired.

Frozen as on a particular image?
If so you might want to try a hard power down (if you haven't already).
I'm sure there are some better people to actually answer your direct question, other than me.

IMovie Frozen and Unresponsive

I started a project and began working on it. Around 2 seconds in, it froze. I restarted iMovie and started over with different clips, but from the same event. (This event was clips off of KeepVid.com from a youtube video of my friend riding her horse. KeepVid usually does not cause problems for me, so I don't think this is why but just so you know) After restarting, iMovie froze again around the same time. It's done this before, and usually making a new project and restarting it works. It didn't work this time, and for three hours new projects, deleting the event, and restarting the computer have not worked. How can i fix this, or do I need to go in to the apple store?

Help! Skype Makes My Laptop Unresponsive!

OK, so I just got Skype for my laptop! Sweet, but whenever I call my friends my laptop gets unresponsive! I use a Dell Inspiron 1520 and Windows 7, whenever I click on the toolbar at the bottom of the screen, it doesn't work! If I minimized a window and then used Skype I can't open the window again! I can't even go to the start menu! I've tried re-downloading Skype and it won't work! I have force shut down my laptop and turned it on again, but it still won't work! Help me!

Try downloading a compressed version of Skype (one which uses up less space.)
The explanation for the problem might be that your skype is taking up space.

Imovie frozen on something i have done

i was trying to import some videos(avi) into imovie and I go the color WAIT wheel. Now everytime I open imovie the WAIT wheel comes back and I can't do anything. I have to "force quit" to get out of the program. I have shut down the computer and it just comes back. really frustrating. What can I do to stop the WHEEL of death??

Ok. imovie doesn't support AVI files. But how do I get it (the program) unfrozen so I can use it again.
I would like to convert the files and use iMovie again, but it is still frozen with the color wheel and I can't use it.

You will have to buy the app for the iPad. You can transfer iMovie Files back and forth from the iPad to the Mac and from the Mac to the iPad by using file sharing.

If you do not have any prior version of iMovie, you can try downloading version 6.0.4 here:

It is supposed to be for those who have purchased iLife 08, but still want to use iMovie 6. I don't know if you can get the free download since iMovie 08 is not on your computer, but you can try it.
If not, you wlll need to purchase iLife 6 to get the earlier version of iMovie....sorry.

you can only update the software. the hardware, (keyboard, trackpad, ETC.) cannot be updated without reciving a new device. And then you would not have all your work.

When I try to share a project in Imovie the whole application shuts down

I created a movie project for school, it is 3 minutes long. When I press the watch full screan the screan turns black and the mouse turns to a rainbow circle and then the application itself shuts off and asks me to reopen it. The same thing happens when i try to share the movie into itunes
