Server calendar

We have set up a mac mini using the Lion Server for my office. I can access this server from my home using VPN. I'm trying to figure out how to sync iCal on my laptop with the calendar on the server. Presently I can't see the server calendar except on the work Macs. I would like to also access this server calendar on my iPhone and iPad.
Can someone help?
Thanks!

Some one in the Lion Server Forum might have an answer?

Colin R.

  • How do I put a newly invited event into my iCal server calendar?

    Hi There,
We recently bought a mac-mini server which is running Snow Leopard Server for our office, and we have configured the server (using iCal Server 2) to store everybody's calendars.
Everyone is using iCal to access there calendars off the server and the basics are working ok (sharing etc).
An issue arises when someone attempts to create an event and invite another user in the office, the invitation is sent correctly but when the user receives the invitation and tries to add it to there calendar it is added to there local calendar, not the server calendar.
So my question is how do I make it so any newly added event is put into my server calendar, not one of my local calendars?
    thanks for any help.

Bear with me because my system is Italian, but we'll work it out together: iCAL will provide you with myriads of calendars, even those of football team schedules in Oklahoma.
In my system, I go into iCAL, click on the menu at the top "Calendario" ("Calendar" obviously) and study the roll-down menu. I found "Trova iscrizioni" which might simply be something like "find calendars" "find entries". In any case, it is the item at the bottom of the roll-down "Calendar" menu.
Be prepared for a bit of scrolling, unless there is an index I missed.

  • Can I set all existing events in a ICal Server calendar to 'private'?

I am consolidating my calendar histories. I have been able to get everything in my iCal Server calendar. But what I'd like to do is set all events before a certain date to 'private' as public/private has been lost for all items. I do want them in the iCal Server and not in a local client side calendar.
Is there a way to do this?

    Hi, Trevor!
Did you consult the online DOM documentation for something like that?
    I found the following:
    http://help.adobe.com/livedocs/acrobat_sdk/10/Acrobat10_HTMLHelp/wwhelp/wwhimpl/js/html/ww help.htm?href=JS_API_AcroJS.88…
    http://help.adobe.com/livedocs/acrobat_sdk/10/Acrobat10_HTMLHelp/wwhelp/wwhimpl/js/html/ww help.htm?href=JS_API_AcroJS.88…
Using AnnotRichMedia instead of media could be the key. Since media seems to be outdated, deprecated or something…
I'm out in the dark like you are with Acrobat and JS. Just consulted some of my bookmarks pointing at the SDK of Acrobat.
    Some dummy-code:
    var myRichMediaObjects = myDoc.getAnnotsRichMedia(nPage);
    Properties of AnnotRichMedia object:
    http://help.adobe.com/livedocs/acrobat_sdk/10/Acrobat10_HTMLHelp/wwhelp/wwhimpl/js/html/ww help.htm?href=JS_API_AcroJS.88…
    for(var n=0;n<myRichMediaObjects.length;n++){
    myRichMediaObjects[n].activated = false;
Don't know much about the DOM here. Maybe there is no length property for the object that is returned by getAnnotsRichMedia() ??
    Did not try anything.

  • Server Calendar migration failed

    Hi,
last week when installing the latest server update for Mavericks the Calendar and Contacts stopped working. I tried everything to get it working again for the past few days like reinstalling server and even updated to Yosemite and installed Server 4 with the hope it would migrate correctly but without any luck.
The calendar state keeps in Starting and will never change to Started.
Below you can find the migration.log:

for testing purposes I renamed the data folder and started the calendar service again.
The new data folder got created but the loop like below is still showing up every 10 seconds:

  • Server calendar iCloud

I can sync my desktop calendar, birthdays, my server calendar to the iphone thru itunes.  But I if I use iCloud then I can only sync my desktop calendar.  Is there a way for iCloud to sync my entire calendar: birthdays; server calendar, and desktop calendar.
I have the latest Lion OS installed on the apple server and my desktop.
The server has business calendars (meetings, etc.) that other people can see or work with, the desktop has personal events that no one else can see.

Sorry! My question is the following: Has anyone switched from saving calendar events to their e-mail server to icloud with success? I do not want to make the switch if I will lose events or events will not appear as they do now, or if I will lose everything in the notes that I write for events.

  • Problem with a Stuck ML Calendar Client using Server Calendar

I set up group Wikis on our server, which seem to work fine (as long as everyone remembers to log in with "https:" not "http:".
On my ML client however, after cleaning out old Calendar accounts with the server, using System Preferences to create a Calendar account with the server, and then reopening Calendar, I can see the Server as a calendar source on the left pane but always get a message that says:
"The URL https://<server URL>/principals/__uids__/0D06B83A-D825-4318-816C-097904CB4886/ encountered HTTP error 404. Make sure the URL is correct."
I suspect that the hex code for my user ID is wrong (or maybe it is a group ID). But I can't seem to fix this. There is no place in the application to edit this URL. I can delete the server account from Calendar and try to start again and I still get the same message.
Is there a configuration file where I can kill this and start over? I suspect some of my other clients to the server will also have this problem as I migrate them over.
    Thanks!

I am still trying to debug this problem.
I have tried removing the Server account from Calendar Preferences as well as System Preferences, then readding. Did not work.
I tried doing the remove again, this time removing everything in Keychain associated with the Server Calendars. Did not work.
I tried going to ../<User>/Library/Calendars and navigating to the caldav directory associated with the server (this takes some poking around as the directory name is based on the server's hex identifier), then renaming the Info.plist file, then deleting the account from System Preferences, then recreating. Did not work. In fact the renamed Info.plist file was gone, but a new one was there.
The Info.plist file contained the bad entry in several places. This is what mine looks like (with specific servers and user names replaced):

  • Does availability only work w/ iCal Server calendars?

We have enabled iCal Server in the hopes that it will solve our meeting coordination problems, but it looks like the iCal / iCal Server combo don't perform as you'd expect when looking at attendee availability for new events.
As far as I can tell, events on your local calendars don't block out time on the availability window -- only events on server calendars (CalDAV) do. So if I have a doctor's appointment at 10am tomorrow on my personal, local calendar, and someone at work is trying to set up a meeting with me, they will see that time block as open. Only if I set up a personal calendar on the company iCal Server, and put the event on that hosted calendar, would they see that 10am was blocked.
I've tested this several ways with a few different test calendars on the server, and it looks like this is so. There's a checkbox "events affect availability" when you right-click on the hosted calendars, but that option does not appear on the local ones.
We want to encourage adoption of iCal using iCal Server to improve coordination at our company, but I doubt that few if any will put their personal calendars on the company server.
Are we doing something wrong here? Or is this really a (giant) limitation of iCal?
This is using iCal 3.0.4 from the OS 10.5.4 update, and iCal Server 10.5.3.

Ok, I guess I think I found the answers in the iPhone Users Guide on the Support site.
If I understand correctly, it appears that iCal Server Calendars are considered read-only on iPhone. You can only accept meeting requests? I assume this because in the snippet below it says that "Subscribed Calendars" are read-only.
This is from the iPhone User Guides under the "Calendar" section:
    Subscribing to Calendars
You can subscribe to calendars that use the iCalendar (.ics) format. Many calendar- based services support calendar subscriptions, including Yahoo!, Google, and the Mac OS X iCal application.
Subscribed calendars are read-only. You can read events from subscribed calendars on iPhone, but you can’t edit them or create new events.
So, it appears I can't use the iCal Server as intended. I wanted to store the calendars in one location using the Calendar server. I originally had this all working by publishing the calendars to my apache server with WebDAV enabled. I thought I could get rid of that and use the Calendar server instead. Appears I was wrong..or am still misundersanding something.
Also, i found out why I didn't have the "Default Calendar" option in Settings. It turns out that you have to have more than one calendar enabled on the phone and they have to writable. So, because I had all server subscribed calendars that option wasn't shown. As soon as i added NON-SERVER calendars that option reappeared.
Is anyone else using the Snow Leopard Calendar server and iPhone?

  • How do I share my server calendar with external users on google calendar?

I need to share some server based calendars with google calendar.  I know how to export but how do I keep the connection live so that when I put a new event into iCal on the server it automatically updates to google calendar?  I was looking for a way to publish my server calendar to a hosting server but I can not even work out how to do that.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Presuming you moved the entire iTunes folder to the shared folder the other users need to start their iTunes while holding down the option/alt key and select the iTunes Library.itl file in the shared folder.  Only once should be necessary.  Note that any changes anybody makes will be seen by everybody, so you have to trust each other a lot.
If all you moved are media files each user will have to add those files to their iTunes library.

  • Any way to create a calendar group in server calendar in ical client?

Does anyone know how, in iCal, to create a "New Calendar Group" (see File menu in iCal) for a CalDAV account created on Snow Leopard Server? This feature only seems to work for Calendars which are on my mac. Even if you are clicked on the CalDAV calendars and hit "New Calendar Group", the group gets created only on the mac side, any ideas?

  • Switched carriers and now i don't have exchange server calendar items - does anyone know how to retrieve them

recently transfered from AT&T to Verizon iphone 4s and when I did the syn everything came over to new device except exchange calendar items.  Any idea how to get them synced.  I 've lost them from the computer as well.

This has nothing to do with switching carriers and the syncing of calendar events over the air with an Exchange server has nothing to do with the iTunes sync process.
On the iPhone go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
    Select the Exchange account.
Is Calendars turned on for over the air syncing?

  • Server calendar - sync with iphone

I can't synk calendar that are hosted in a lion server with iPhone

  • Mavericks Server Calendar and Contacts  services won't start.

Recently the calendar and contacts services stopped working.  Client computers started getting errors like this:
"The server responded with an error https://[some UID and a lot of other info]... is not a location that supports this request."
It was suggested by Apple tech support to do a free install/rebuild, but that's not really an option simply because of the wiki.  I've previously spent months trying to migrate wikis from Mountain Lion Server to Mavericks server; never coming across a working solution and ending up having to copy/paste every page from the old server to the new server.  Apple had no working solution for migration wikis and instead suggested a reference to a Krypted site URL (which also didn't work).
Other services are working just fine, but here are the symptoms we're experiencing:
Calendar service has reported a code 0 at one point, but did not continue the error
Calendar service has reported a code -1 at one point, but did not continue the error
Calendar service in can be toggled on, but the service never starts and stays offline even though the toggle switch is "on".
Calendar service full status in Terminal.app is stuck in starting
Calendar and Contacts services seem to take a while to load the status pane in Server.app
Client computers get repeated, non-stop, connection error dialogue boxes in Calendar.app
Occasionally when I try to see the Contacts service status by select it, I get "A networking error occurred while trying to communicate with the server" - this is using Server.app on the server itself, not from a client computer.
It seems the two primary problems are starting the services and therefore connecting to them.  Other services such as wiki and filesharing are working fine.
    Any ideas folks?
BTW - my Time Machine backup did nothing to help the situation.

  • OS X Server Calendar Won't Share Calendar via Sharing Settings

I have OS X Server 10.9.1 with Server 3.0.2.  The CalDAV server is enabled, and I have a few users who are using calendars from their devices (e.g. Calendar.app on 10.8.5 and iOS 7).    Everythign is working great (events are syncing between devices properly).
If you right click a CalDAV Calendar on 10.8.5 you get a popup saying "Sharing Settings..."   Choosing this gives you an option "Share CalendarName with..." and a dialog box, into which you can type a persons name.   The field autocompletes initially with names (which appear to be from one's local Contacts list) but in a second later some names show up (which appear to be from the Server's list of Accounts).
If I choose one of the people who is in my address book but not a user on OSX Server, then I get an error message "At least one sharee was not recognized by the server.  New invitations have not been sent.".    Fair enough: this is how it should work.
However, if I choose a name which only exists on OS X server, I get a beep, and nothing happens.
Possibly related: the usernames on OS X server do not show up with any email address attached (probably because I never set an email address there, as we are not using email there).
Any ideas how or why this is functioning like this?

I'm not sure if this is since an upgrade, or if permissions were changed (by a predecessor).

    Sun-One Calendar Express 5.1.1

    Hi,
Based on my research, when if the organizer or the attendee adds notes to an occurrence, Outlook creates a meeting exception. Later, if the meeting series is updated and a full update is sent, any notes in the
    meeting exceptions will be lost.
For more information about it, please refer to Recurring meetings in:

    Thanks,

  • Cannot subscribe to iCal server calendars

    HI all,
This issue is driving me crazy
I have setup this OS X 10.6.4 server.  DNS is good.  OD is good and Kerberos is started and the DNS name is in caps.
I can publish calendars but I cannot subscribe to any calendar that is published.
Can anyone give some additional insight as the the cause?

    Hi NorrComm,
Can you provide a link to a published calendar? With port forwarding enabled that should generate the same error externally as well as internally. Can you visit the address in safari to check whether the studio account can be accessed. It could be a permissions issue.
Why do you want to publish a calendar? You could consider to delegate permissions for the account Studio to other users without write access. That should work as well.
Furthermore upgrade your server to the latest OSX build 10.6.8, so any bugs or other known issues with previous releases of OSX are fixed.
    Goodluck!
    Jeffrey

I wanted to enjoy the new display in all it's glory so I found some full res sample images from new Canon 5d Mark III and Nikon D8. Oddly when I open them on the new iPad they automatically shrink from 7000 x 4000 px to 1440 x 600. I'm a Windows & An
