  • SQL Server  connection timeout

    Hello All.
    I use Golden Gate to extract from MS SQL Server 2005 and replicate to Oracle 11g database.
    EXTRACT works fine. But sometimes (once a day) it abends with the following message:

    How can I avoid this error?
    Do I have to configure option "timeout"? How?

    If it really is a timeout issue (sometimes these error messages can be misleading), you can add a "sqlExec" statement in your extract prm file, at the beginning before your "table" statements, which executes only periodically rather than when records are read. This can be used to keep the connection alive (I believe there is an example of this in the docs : search for "SQLExec" in the admin or reference guide, or possibly the install guide for SQL server.)

  • Setting the server connection timeout, Mac Mail

    I have several POP accounts setup through Mac Mail and lately I've been running into problems where I can't send messages because of "two many simultaneous connections". I was told by my email host that it is likely caused by my email client maintaining an open connection with the server or idling, etc... I don't fully understand what they are referring to as I can't seem to locate any settings that pertain to this.
    A brief search shows this could be relevant to an IMAP account, but that is not how I configured them. Does anyone have any experience modifying how Mac Mail connects to the email servers, and closes the connection after send / receive is complete?
    Thanks
    Stephen

    Mail sent via att.net comes through as "via Yahoo" when I send something to Gmail, so I assume it's the case in California.
    I looked at all the headers.  Gmail is not involved nor would I expect it to be, at least when I send something.
    I got my info here:  ...
    Hmmm.  Looks like my yahoo servers still work but sometime in the last three years AT&T changed their server names to the ones on that page.  I just changed my server settings in Eudora (and also mail.app) to inbound.att.net and outbound.att.net and they work too.  I guess I'll leave them to those "new" (new to me) servers.
    And by the way, outbound.att.net doesn't support SSL, or at least seems not to since Mail bottoms out with the eternally spinning wheel whenever I check that option.
    Actually it does.  Note I said above all I changed was the servers, not any port, ssl, or authorization info.  And it works as expected.  So that's why you saw the rotating cursor, it was hanging when shaking hands with the server.
    If you look at table on that AT&T page, last two rows (incoming/outgoing port #) is shows the info I listed previously, i.e., ports and ssl.
    Anyway, thanks for making me aware of the server (change -- change from my point of view anyway).

  • Testing for server connection timeout error 500

    I have two servers that house different applications and web pages. Periodically one of the servers will be down for maintenance or scheduled reboots.
    I want to set up some links so that they point to a page that checks to see if the server is up. (I have tried HttpURLConnection and get positive results, but do not get anything if the server is not connected). If the server is up, it gets the request, if the server is not up, the request is forwarded to another server.

    Sam
    You will probably want to do something with the
    h the input before you use
    parseInt.
    maybe something like
    double firstnum = 23.42;
    double secondnum = 12;
    int sumtotal = firstnum + secondnum;
    total = parseInt(sumtotal);
    This is not javaScript, but it should hold the same

  • Webservice Connection Timeout Error in Sun Java System Application server

    I have a java code to connect to Ebay Shopping Webservice that uses the client stub generated through Axis. The code works fine when I run it from the main method of a stand alone Java application. Which means there is no issue with the Proxy settings or any other network setting that could block the webservice from my system. However when I use the same code inside a JSF based Web Application, a connection timeout error comes up. The Web application is deployed on the Sun Java System Application server. The stacktrace of the exception is

    The JDK version on my machine is 1.5.0_14. Can somebody point me as where I should be looking for errors?

    You need to delete all the files under the 'generated' directory to force the server to recompile them after the JDK upgrade. Also check in domain.xml and make sure the JVM parameter is pointing to the JDK that you have installed. It is also worthwhile to check asenv.conf to see which JDK that file is pointing to as well.

    Thanks a lot!

    Hello,
    The server were installed under the same hostname, but he got a new sid in my active directory.
    Did you connect to SQL Server instance with Windows authentication? Since the SID of domain account is changed, the SQL Server instace may cannot verify the login account which stored in the master with old SID. In that case, please try to connect
    SQL Server with SQL authentication and then readd the domian as login the instance.

After several go arounds with Apple tech support, I'm still nowhere.
    Here are the symptoms:
    1. I can see the TC's network SSID in the airport pull down menu. If I select the TC, a popup appears and asks for a password. If I enter the password, I'll get a connection timeout error.

    3. On the even rarer occasions where it does connect, and I can access a webpage, it's unbearably slow, and the no-surf problem reappears after a few seconds. The red dots on the Network Diagnostics reappear.
    Apple tech support was not helpful. I've power cycled everything a million times (and that doesn't explain why other computers can connect.) I know it's not my computer, because it can connect to the Netopia just fine.
    I am STUMPED.

    Magnificent! Problem solved...   Isn't there a "this solved my problem" button somewhere??  Thanks and thanks again!

    Hi Tom,
    I will explain you the complete scenario....
    My User Administration tab is not working...
    on User Administration clickthis is getting displayed:
    503 Service Unavailableu2026
    The application you are trying to use is not started.
    in log file its giving : Access Denied : Communication User
    com.sap.portal.certlogon.
    I checked in visual admin and found some info on SDN..
    that your UMEAdmin is not working properly...
    in visual admin i tried to stop and start this service....
    this service gets stopped but not getting start....
    I tried it by rebooting the server also
    In log its giving webdynpro container is not started,
    And server0 color in SAP MMC is yellow and status is Starting apps..
    The I tried redeployment of  these packages from sdm.
    aii_proxy_rt.sda
    aii_util_xml.sda
    grmg.sda
    it gets successfully undeployed and then redeployed.
    But still umeadmin service in visual administrator is down.
    Then I tried undeployment of followingUME related components:
    core.ume.services..
    core.admin630
    core.admin.par
    but sdm gets hanged and evrything gets in processing mode on servre...
    then in end i have to reboot the system...
    then i chekced and these sda are missing from deployed components list.
    i tried deployment again  but its failed deployment with followintg errors:

    Coz its giving me the error that sdm is not able to connect to j2ee engine in log file so deployment aborted.
    And deployment is going on in sdm gui with 0% status
    And in between http://<host>:<port>/irj
    its showing:
    503 service unavailable
    Dispatcher running but no server connected!
    No details available
    And in sapmmc..
    Server is in yellow colour..
    Regarding Server color...
    I faced this problem earlier also when i deployed components related to usage type DI...and its not deployed properly and some error message comes in sdm...that deployment failed..even after that server color got changed fro Green to Yellow...
    in that case i started the sdm in standalone mode and undeployed that componets and it worked fine....
    and server status gets changed to green again...
    but now when m trying this its giving me the error that its not getting connected to j2ee engine.....looks like server's services are not started properly....
    below is the std_server0.out file of work director this the the log of when server gets started...and looks like service is not getting started and its giving thread dump.. kindly check this too...

  • Application Server Connection in Jdeveloper

    Hi,
    Im facing issues in establishing Application Server Connection in JDevloper (10.1.2.1.0).Basically, im creating a JSR portlet. I followed the steps provided in the link "http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe1014portal/standards_portlets/stdsplts.htm".
    The below error is encountered while testing connection

  • Oracle 9.0.1 on Solaris/SPARC infinite connection timeouts

    Hello, All!
    I have the following system configuration:
    Solaris 5.9 Maintenance Update 4;
    Sun Ultra 10, 1 UltraSPARC IIi 440Mhz CPU, 1024M RAM;
    Oracle 9.0.1 (9i Release 1).
    The database was created with JServer option turned on (we're using the integrated CORBA functionality); archive log mode is OFF, database cache advice is ON.
    In a nutshell,
    ==============
    the problem is in really infinite connection timeouts of Oracle after a long time of inactivity (say, on Monday after two weekend days).
    Long description.
    =================
    Client-side symptoms.
    First, I tried to establish a connection to a published CORBA object, and received no response (I am already waiting for 1 hour 40 minutes).
    Then, I tried to connect to the database with SQLPlus, remotely:
    $ sqlplus /nolog
    SQL> CONNECT SYS/change_on_install@ORCL AS SYSDBA;
    All the same, I receive no reply. However, the listener is alive, I can establish a network connection to both ports 1521 and 2481. Client-side logs (specified via sqlnet.ora) say the following:

    ps -e -o "user,pid,pcpu,pmem,rss,vsz,args" says there're several (3) processes running as oracle, with "args" oracle_ORCL, which eat up nearly all available memory (they have "pmem" values of 25, 25 and 17 per cent, respectively). One of these processes has "pcpu" value varying from 97% to 100%, moreover, this is a user, NOT system time (according to sdtperfmeter, disk/page/swap activity is extremely low; system load holds at value of 4). Here is a sample vmstat output:
         cpu
    cs us sy id
    287 99 1 0
    285 100 0 0
    280 100 0 0
    272 100 0 0

    270 100 0 0
    307 98 2 0
    287 100 0 0
    Here cs is the number of cpu context switches per second;
    us is cpu user time;
    sy is cpu system time.
    The question is: what oracle may be doing and how can I fix the problem?
    Thanks in advance.

    Now, 3 hours later, the first two (of three) connections got established, but subsequent database queries are in the same nearly dead state.
    CPU usage remains about 100%, system load 4.
    I know that oracle restart (and/or system restart) will cure the problem -- but only until next weekend.
    Can this be oracle misconfiguration?

  • Best router for a macbook experiencing connection timeouts?

    Hi all,
    I know macbook wireless connection issues have been discussed to death already, but I have a slightly different question and with Black Friday looming, I was hoping to get some input from those who may have had success with finding a new router. I apologize for the incoming wall of text, it's been a long, arduous journey.
    My 2007ish Macbook ceased to be wireless over a year ago, at least at home.  I was on Snow Leopard at the time, and using the internet when it dropped suddenly but connected after a restart. It dropped several more times and each time would require more restarts. By the end of the day, it didn't see my router, nor the neighbors' forever unsecured linksys router (yet i've had to go to war defending our network from their 17 year old son) or any other nearby network. I'm no longer 100% certain, but I do believe there had recently been an update (wifi died around July 4th 2011 if anyone is an obssessive date keeper) In the next days I installed kismet and istumbler and took the macbook for a drive around the neighborhood, where it proceeded to detect all kinds of other networks that it had never seen before (like, ever because its out of range). At home, still nothing.
    Over the next few months, I furiously googled for hours upon hours and tried everything I came across.  And I do mean everything, even things I consciously knew would not have any affect. I did a clean install of Lion but no change. It's been to the apple store three times, where of course it detected their network and connected with no hesitation and diagnostics showed it maintaining better signal strength than I can ever remember seeing at home. They gave me various suggestions, from the predictable 'replace wireless card' to the ludicrous 'send it off and have the antennae replaced' which would be $800 dollars because they would need to open the screen part.  Yeah..no.  At least they replaced my swelling battery and top case for free.  Anyway, thenceforth I remained chained to my desk by ethernet.
    Fast forward to now.  Still chained to the desk, but more determined than ever to do something about it. About a month ago I gave it another go and eventually after a few adjustments it started to actually detect the router and I can click to connect, enter the password, but of course, connection timeout. So the network name sits there in the dropdown menu, but bars all greyed out. Very frustrating.
    So as a last ditch effort, I have decided to try replacing our router, a Linksys WRTP54G that is infuriatingly locked to Vonage, which we no longer have. There's a motorola surfboard modem connected to the router, and a switch between the router and macbook. The switch isn't the problem, it wasn't even there when the problem started. I've also tried a WRT54G which didn't work either. The Macbook works fine on a university network, but I don't have access to any of the specifics about the network. It also connects to a plethora of other home networks and routers, some of which I do believe are b/g routers.
    We're due for a more powerful, capable, and not-cursed-by-vonage router anyway as our devices have increased in number from 4 to nearly 13. I want one that can support NAS and if possible Open WRT.  I was also planning to move us behind a VPN very soon.  I know that's maybe getting a bit nitpicky, but I am definitely prepared to pay more if it means the Macbook is wireless and I can clear up the 20ft river of chords snaking not so subtly around our upstairs.
    So the question is, has anyone had any luck fixing the problem by replacing the router?  Even if it doesn't have tons of features, any input on what kinds of routers seem to make Macbooks with this problem fall in line would be so helpful!!

    Apple AirPort Extreme has served my mixed environment very well. You can buy a refurbished one from Apple and save some $.
