Server error in '/' Application Runtime error

hello everyone,
I have a sharepoint 2013 in a simple farm server configuration(web server and application server on the same server (windows server 2012), and a seperate sql server ( unsure of version, but will check). All servers using domain authentication.
Users are randomly getting this message:
Users are getting this randomly but are able to click the back button to get to their web pages with list views. Any ideas why it might be happening?

Hi George,
According to your description, my understanding is that you got an error when you used SharePoint 2013.
Please change the web.config files as the followings:
1.In customErrors tag set mode="Off" to "On
2.In SafeMode tag set CallStack="true" to false
3.In Compilation tag Debug="false" to true
There are three web.config files you need to change, the paths are:
1.C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\15\TEMPLATE\LAYOUTS\web.config
2.C:\inetpub\wwwroot\wss\VirtualDirectories\Port_Number\web.config
3.C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\15\CONFIG\web.config
Finally reset IIS to do go to windows start->run->IISRESET (for this you must have administrative permissions).

Thanks for your quick reply.
I have tried the steps you described and now I'm getting an Error 500.
But I cannot see anywhere into the web.config filr the tag "trace".
My project manager told me that the problem wasn't into the web.config file but the problem has to do with the server being out of the domain. Now the server is back into the domain and I can't really connect my Sharepoint to the FARM.
I'm so confused but I'm still convinced the problem is in the web.config. Is there any onther technic I can use to fix this problem?

Why does opening some links in Firefox causes a "Server Error in '/' Application Runtime Error" but not in "Internet Explorer"?

When I click on some links in an email (and Firefox is the default browser) I get the following error:
Server Error in '/' Application.
Runtime Error
Description: An exception occurred while processing your request. Additionally, another exception occurred while executing the custom error page for the first exception. The request has been terminated.
If, however, I click the same links (and Internet Explorer is the default browser) I do not get any error and the proper content of the link is displayed.
What is causing this error? As I prefer Firefox, how can this problem be fixed?
OS Windows 7, Service Pack 1
Firefox Version 32.0.1
Internet Explorer Version 11.0.9600.17280

When you look at the address in the address bar, does it seem to match up with the email?
Sounds like Firefox sent the server something it wasn't expecting. Sometimes this can be caused by obsolete or corrupted cookies -- assuming you have visited the site before. It also might be caused by modifications to standard information sent to servers such as the "user agent" string that specifies your browser version and OS.
To clear a site's cookies, while viewing a page on the site, either:
* right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
* (menu bar) Tools > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

That is a problem on the web server that you are trying to access. 
This may need to be fixed at that server.
Try to clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause the problems to see if that helps.
"Clear the Cache":
*Firefox > Preferences > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
*Firefox > Preferences > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Server Error in '/ecp' Application. Runtime Error

When I try to logon to ECP I get the message below. I have tried recreating the virtual directory but this did no good. This happened after doing an update on Friday. Thanks Microsoft. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

What’s update have you applied to Exchange?
Is there any issue while trying to access OWA?
Please take your time to collect some events related to this issue from application logs.
Based on my experience, I saw the same errors after installing CU6 in other similar threads. In that case the scenario is that the OWA related files are not copied correctly. Themes folder "C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\ClientAccess\owa\prem\15.0.995.31\resources\themes"
doesn't exist. That issue solved by the following steps:
Stop all the Exchange related Services
Backup the
15.0.995.31 to a different directory
Copy the files and folders from 15.0.995.29 to 15.0.995.31
Start all the Exchange related services

i went to login to my myspace and i get this message:

Sharepoint FBA web application error: Server Error in '/' Application. when login to the web application

I have configured FBA in SharePoint 2010. After the FBA i can get the SQL users using people picker and added users as a site collection admin.
When i tried to access the site, it shows login page and i have given user name and password then pressed signin button, it's try to redirect the another page and showing below error,

I checked sharepoint logs and didn't see any log. but i can see below error logged in Event viewer application logs,
I tried changing all customErrors mode and still same error.
Kindly help me on this, how to resolve the issue.

According to your description, my understanding is that the error occurred when you accessed SharePoint site through form based authentication.
How did you configure the form based authentication?
Here is a link about the steps required to configure FBA in SharePoint 2010 for your reference, and check the steps to see if there anything wrong in your configuration:

Through the common error message, we cannot find what exactly caused the error.

Make sure you are disposing of the report object once you are done with it and before you re-run it with new parameters (.close, .dispose).
Test without the combo box. Let the report prompt. Can you reproduce the behavior now? If not, try to supply the parameter values via a text box. Can you reproduce the issue now? E.g.; is it the combo box that is the issue, or the report?

within the past 10 days I've started to have problems in accessing websites that I visit regularly and may have visited only hours before. The message I receive is 'Server Error in '/' Application' which gives details about how to find out more information but (1) I'm not sure how to follow the information and (20 whether the information is safe, and (3) whether following the advice will correct the problem - it doesn't sound as if it will. 500 Internal Server error for WD applications

Dear All
I have a very strange situation and I don´t have any idea of what to do.
Basis took the backend R/3 system down for some reasons and made it up again after some time. But now they have locked all users in our backend R/3 system as Basis is performing some task on the server.
This has resulted in all web dynpro applications that are using RFC's throwing 500 Internal server error.
All other web dynpro applications that are not dependent on R3 system are working fine.
We also have restarted the EP server as we deployed one WD application.
I'm not sure how the situation was before the restart of EP server.

I believe that error will get resolved once the users are unlocked in R/3 system.
But the stituation is, we will get the system back on monday morning and I'll have no time to do anything as the business will be back in 1 hr when we get the system back.
Can you please help me to identify the tasks that I can perform and be sure that all will be normal on Monday (and I'll still be in job.)

Hi vineet,
Check the following things:
(1) Specify the user names in Capital letters and try. This will help you. (this could be the problem)
(2) Test the RFC destination using the tCode SM59 and try to remote login from there.
(3) If the user is locked, you can unlock using the tCode SU01.

How to display the error message during the web dynpro application runtime

hi,
 I'm a java developer,During i 'deploy and run ' a web dynpro application on server-1,if the application have some runtime errors. there are displayed many infomation about the runtime error,such as exception track,etc.
 But when i do the same on server-2,there just show something like:
 500 Internal Server Error
 SAP NetWeaver Application Server 7.00/Java AS 7.00
 Failed to process request. Please contact your system administrator.
but the server-1 will stop the j2ee engine.
how can do i make server-2 show detail error message as server-1. when i debug web dynpro application need these infomation.
Appreciate your inputs...
(Note:server-1 and server-2 have same software version)

The Sap-Notes 962319:
1. Check in the Visual Administrator, "Licensing Adapter" -> "General" -> "SystemType" !
If it is set to "DEVELOPMENT_MODE", verbose error messages are shown.
If it is undefined, proceed with the next step.
If it is set to something else, only exception IDs are shown. In this case the only chance is to search for this exception ID in the default traces.
2. If the system type is undefined, then in the Config Tool "Configurations" -> "webdynpro" -> "sap.com" -> "tcwddispwda" -> "Propertysheet default" -> "DevelopmentMode" is evaluated. If it is "true", verbose error messages are shown.
3. If verbose error messages are required but still the short version is shown, you probably face an error message that is not raised by Web Dynpro but by other components of the NetWeaver. In the Visual Administrator set "Properties" -> "HTTP Provider" -> "DetailedErrorResponse" to "true".
4. In addition to the error page shown in the browser or client, important messages - including error messages and stack traces - are written to the log and trace files, e.g. to the default traces usr\sap\<SID>\<instance>\j2ee\cluster\server<number>\log\defaulttrace.trc.<number>.
a) In some cases, when an exception ID is included in the error message, the detailed error message can easily be retrieved in the log file.
b) When no exception ID is given, you have to search for the detailed error message in the log specifying time stamp and/or user ID.
Always consider restarting the system after making changes on the settings.
It is not recommended to switch the "SystemType" to an inappropriate value just for viewing verbose error messages. The system type potentially affects framework, applications and licensing in an perhaps unintended way.
In the past there was no distinction between different system types regarding error messages. For security reasons this distiction has been introduced. It is not intended to show stack traces in non-development systems in the future. SAP does not provide workarounds or patches to enable such a behaviour again.

Tried the FAQ help still getting a runtime error, server error with a certain website

I've tried repeatedly going to the forums at texags.com as I have in the past but keep getting the following message-

Other people on the forum use firefox without problems and I have done so in the past. I'm trying to switch back from Chrome but this is a huge block for me. I have checked for updates and cleared the history and cache as suggested in the FAQs. ANy advice?

are you using the Aliases for the SQL Server, make sure your account having the correct permission.
If it is your QA farm, you can run the config wizard to fix his problem...

I followed this guide exactly - The Ramblings of an IT Engineer Lost in a Manufacturing World Insight from an IT engineer who gets pulled into everything
and have reinstalled the server sevral times with the same result .
Im using Open Suse 11.4 with the latest ifolder at Downloads . Ill pay $30.00 via paypal if you can help me get this working.

This is perfectly correct message. If you are trying to access https://ip/simias10.
If you need to access any webservice you need to specify one of them like
https://ip/simias10/Simias.asmx , you will be asked to authenticate after which you can use these. some more services are iFolderAdmin.asmx, HostAdmin.asmx, iFolderWeb.asmx, iFolderBackup.asmx, DiscoveryService.asmx ..etc etc.
May i know what are you trying to do by accessing this. May be i could provide more help based on this.

Can anyone help? I have no idea what any of that means. It's not a problem with my account because it works when I tried on my PC at home, but for some reason the past like 5 days it hasn't been working.

What browser are you using? Have you tried others like Firefox or Opera?
I've seen this problem before, but it was a problem with an old version of the Mozilla brower on OS9. If I remember correctly, it had something to do with allowing asynchronous connections (or something like that) in the network preferences. I don't think there's an equivalent preference for Safari or Firefox.
Besides, the server error you're encountering is fairly generic, and doesn't hint at the real problem. I would try restoring all browser preferences to their default, and clearing out your cache and cookies.
