Server-side installation of Headstart

We've got a live database (8.1.5) with Headstart (2.1.2) installed, all the application's objects, forms, code libraries have been generated using Headstart.
I've created a test database, generated my applications tables from the original repository there, and I want to run my existing live Headstart forms against the test database but I'm unsure about the Headstart server-side installation.
From the installation guide, I can see that I need to run insthst.sql and hstuseri.grt, but I haven't yet got a Headstart Template Package owner. I know that in the live application, the Headstart Template Package owner is the owner of the Headstart objects.
I'd like to know if I create a Headstart Template Package owner in my test database, do I then run insthst.sql and hstuseri.grt, and is there anything else I need to do.
Thanks,
John.

In your test database, you need to have all of the Headstart runtime objects. There are a couple of options for how
to do this. These are described in the User Guide Chapter 8, Runtime Environment.
You will use insthst.sql to create the objects.
If you use a separate Headstart schema, then you can use hstuseri.grt to create the required grants and synonyms
from your application owner schema to the Headstart schema.
Depending on how your users log onto the application, they will also need access to the Headstart objects.

Lauri

  • Headstart Server Side Installation

    Hello,
    We want to use Designer 6i with Headstart 1.2.1 patch 10 to 13.
    I know that you have to migrate the applications (incl. QMS) with the repository of Designer 6. For this migration I use a separate PC.
    On the other PC we have installed Designer 6i with an oracle 8.1.7 database (Unix).
    Know I want to install the Headstart Server Side installation for Designer 6i.
    After the installation i find a lot of errors in the insthsu.log. The first error is that the ci_application_systems view doesn't have a version column. I found out that the ci_application_systems of 6 not the same is as the ci_application_systems of 6i.
    Wat are we doing wrong?
    Thanks
    Leon

    Leon,
    You are trying to run the Headstart Server Side Installer of Headstart 2.1 against a Designer 6i Repository. This is not possible, because the Repository meta model has changed considerably in 6i.
    Patch 13 allows you to use the Headstart 2.1 Template Package with Designer 6i, but it does not allow you to use the Headstart 2.1 Utilities with 6i. For that you need Headstart 6i, which is currently in Beta. If you have an Oracle consultant who is experienced with Headstart on site, you can join the Beta program. Contact your Oracle Consulting representative for more details.
    kind regards,
    Sandra Muller

  • Server-Side Installer Fails/Hangs

    I'm trying to install Headstart 6.5.0.1 and reach the point in the installation guide that says to "click on Headstart Server-Side Installer" and it brings up a browser (IE 5) that has two buttons on it, one to "Launch !" and another to "Configure". I have previously gone throught the "Configure" steps, so I choose to Launch!. On clicking "Launch!", I get another window that is blank and nothing else happens in the blank window (I gave it up to 15 minutes to do something). There is a momentary flash of an icon in the upper left hand corner, but I never get the window diplayed like what is in the installation guide.
    What am I doing wrong here?

    On further investigation, it was discovered that JInitiator v1.1.8.3 was installed instead of v1.1.7.30. I downloaded v1.1.7.30 from metalink, installed it and it at least started to work... now I'me getting "FRM-92050. Unable to connect to server:VOLOGIC-B89UUCV:9000" where VOLOGIC-B89UUCV is the name of my computer.
    What next?

  • HeadStart 6i Server-Side Install

    We are trying to perform the "Server Side Install" and while it does get started and
    all the appropriate Oracle accounts are verified, the actual process that the install says will take about 15 to 20 minutes seems to run forever. We have terminated it once after letting it run overnight and some database objects did get
    created for the HeadStart Template account but that's it - it never completes.

    Ron,
    Did you get any errors in the log files that are created in the Headstart home directory? (are they created?) What objects are created in which schema's?
    I once encountered problems that occured because I (the user that run the forms server process) didn't have write privileges on the headstart root directory.
    You also might encounter problems if the import step doesn't succeed, can you start the import from the command line?
    A last suggestion is to run the installer form client server instead of webforms, in my situation this did run as the write privileges on the headstart root then did not occur anymore.
    Hope this helps,
    Marc

  • URGENT:problems with installation of HeadStart

    After installing Oracle HeadStart R2.1.2 on a common driver and
    then Server-Side as explained in the file inst_oi.htm I have
    launched the program Start->Program->HeadStart Designer R 2.1.2->
    HeadStart Utilities Administration.
    Then it appears to me the program Developer 2000 Forms Runtime
    for Windows 95/NT ad a form asking me UserID, Password and
    database.
    I have inserted the combination that I usually use for Designer
    and then I obtain the following error: FRM-41085 : ERROR
    OBTAINING THE COUNTING OF ROWS OF THE GROUP at which I answer OK
    and then the error FRM-40735 : THE TRIGGER PRE-FORM DOES NOT
    MANAGE THE EXCEPTION ORA-04062.
    Which could be my problem?
    I have also tried a lot of time to reinstall the server side but
    also if the combinations of password and connection in the fifth
    form of the wizard are RIGHT(as when I installed the first time)
    it gives me the error "User name/Password Repository Owner or
    Connect String is not correct". How can I try to reinstall all?
    The type of installation was "new installl" because I didn't
    have a previous release of HeadStart.
    Or the problem are due to the release of Designer/Developer as I
    had written in the letter of 15 Sept 1999 at which nobody has
    not answered still.
    Please Reply as soon as possible.
    Than you.

    Andrea,
    Please install Oracle Designer 2.1.2 first. You can reinstall by
    using other users or deleting the users that you have created for
    the first install. Please do not forget to also delete the
    hsu212_user first before you reinstall.

  • Scheduling web intelligence reports from SAP EP Portal : Server Side Trust

    Hello,
    We have set-up SSO between SAP EP 701, SAP BI 701 and Business Object XI 3.1  to allow users to access reports without having to sign-on again as explained here :
    /people/ingo.hilgefort/blog/2008/09/19/businessobjects-and-sap--configure-sap-authentication
    But, we have recently been contacted by some users because when scheduling Webi Report from a link within the portal they have the following errors :
    u201CA database error occured. The database error text is: Unable to connect to SAP BW server System received an expired SSO ticket. (WIS 10901) u201D
    The user told us that he doesn't encounter the error when :
    Login in directly to the BO Infoview (without SSO from the SAP Enterprise Portal.)
    The first Webi scheduling is succesful from the portal (I suppose because the portal token is still valid)
    I understand that we also have to configure the Server Side Trust between BO Enterprise server and the SAP BI7 backend as explained here , but I do not really understand its purpose
    https://websmp106.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700001646962008E/XI3-1_BIP_SAP_INSTALL_EN.pdf
    I've found a similar discussions here ;
    Issue with SAP Single Sign-On and Scheduling Reports
    I still have some questions :
    If we configure the Server Side Trust between BO Enterprise server and the SAP BI7 backend .
    The Portal Logon ticket will remain an issue at some point of time , does it mean tha the WeBi report job sheduling should not be perfromed from the SAP EP Portal ?
    We haven't configured the Server Side Trust , yet the users told us that they are able to schedule webi report directly from the BO Infoview ? How is it posible ?
    Thank you in advance for your help.
    Regards.

    Thank you Mr Hilgefort for your detailled explanations.
    I now have to provide some explanations to my managers, and to be honest , there are still some points that
    are unclear to me, and it would be extremely helpful if could confirm (or not) the follwoing points.
    When scheduing Webi report from the sap portal, we're getting SSO errors.
    SAP provide the follwoing note explaining how to extend the validity of the J2EE token (Portal token), but this is not a long term solution, at certain point of time the ticket will expire. Webi shceduling should not be perfromed from the Portal.
    Sap note 1352127 - Scheduled Webi report fails with: A database error occurred. The database error text is: Unable to connect to SAP BW server System received an expired SSO ticket
    Webi Scheduling should be performed from BO Infoview. SNC should be configured between BO server and SAP BI7.0 backend.
    We should Configure Server SNC as explained in the BusinessObjects XI Integration for SAP Solutions Installation and Administration Guide at Chapter "Configuring SAP for server-side trust". (1341043)
    The SAP Portal is not involved here and is not an option even with the configuration of SNC/Server side trust.
    thank you for your patience.
    Best Regards.

  • Server Side activties have been updated. You need to restart SharePoint Designer to use the updated version of activities.

    Hello,
    I have the following scenario for the installation of EPM 2013 environment:
    1 Server running Windows 2008 R2 SQL Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 2
    1 Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard SP1, running Sharepoint 2013 Enterprise (Standard Initially installed and then migrated to the Enterprise in order to install Project Server 2013), Project Server 2013 and Workflow 1.0 (2013).
    After configuring and validating the configuration of Workflow 1.0 by http://server_name.example.com:12291 page and also check the Application Services in Central Administration and receive the Workflow Status = Connected.
    Alright, but when I run the SPD 2013 RTM to test the creation of Sharepoint Workflow 2013, I get the following warning:
    "Server Side activties have been updated. You need to restart SharePoint Designer to use the updated version of activities."
    I've tried:
    a. Restart SPD2013;
    b. Restart Server 2013 and Sharepoint Workflow 1.0;
    c. Reinstall and reconfigure Workflow 1.0
    And the message is always displayed, preventing the use of Workflow Sharepoint 2013.
    Can anyone help me, I'm in the middle of a deployment to a customer.

    How did you uninstalledLanguage Pack from SharePoint 2013 ? when I googled it I found that language pack cannot be uninstall@
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc262108.aspx
    "If you no longer have to support a language for which you have installed a language pack, you can remove the language pack by using the Control Panel. Removing a language pack removes the language-specific site
    templates from the computer. All sites that were created that have those language-specific site templates will no longer work (the URL will produce a HTTP 500 - Internal server error page). Reinstalling the language pack will make the site functional again.
    You cannot remove the language pack for the version of SharePoint 2013 that you have installed on the server. For example, if you are running the Japanese version of SharePoint 2013, you cannot uninstall the Japanese language support for SharePoint 2013."

  • How to install owb server-side software on UNIX Solaris (SPACR-64)?

    Hi there,
    How to install owb server-side software on UNIX Solaris (SPACR-64)?
    I've read the install guide
    and it mentions
    3. Start the installer by entering the following at the prompt:
    cd mount_point
    ./runInstaller
    I don't have access to any graphical interface on the UNIX box e.g. x-windows nor any cd with the software, just the solaris software downloaded from web - does this include the runinstaller
    and is the runisnatller just a command line interface?
    I hoped I would be able to download the software from oracle website and then simply run the a setup scrip?
    Is it possible to do this? Would I simply substitute cd mount_point to cd <directory I put software)
    I've never ran oracle universall installer on UNIX before.
    Many Thanks

    Hi,
    You can install the server-side software from the downloaded software.
    You don't need the CD
    You do need an X-windows client on your computer to connect to the server OR work directly on the server.
    Without X-windows you cannot start the Oracle Universal Installer.
    Maybe there is a command line installation, I have never used this.
    I hope this helps.

  • Problem in Server side includes using Tomcat

    Problem in Server side includes using Tomcat:
    I am trying out small programs in servlet.
    I get one example program for server side includes from net.
    The code is:
    <HTML>
    <HEAD><TITLE>Times!</TITLE></HEAD>
    <BODY>
    <P>
    The current time in London is!!! :
    <SERVLET CODE="CurrentTime" codebase="../servlet">
    <PARAM NAME="zone" VALUE="GMT">
    </SERVLET>
    </P>
    </BODY>
    </HTML>
    I placed this test.shtml file in tomcat-home/webapps/ROOT folder and i kept the servlet in WEB-INF/classes folder.
    I renamed the servlets-ssi.jar and i removed the comments for SSI in web.xml file.
    When i run the servlet separately, i am getting the correct result. But if i run shtml file with the URL : http://localhost:8080/Test.shtml,
    i am getting the result as:
    The current time in London is!!! :
    It is not invoking servlet program.
    CAN ANYONE HELP ON THIS!
    Thanks.

    Thanks...as u said I tried putting dir & found that
    my file was saved as Ch1Servlet.java.txt instead for
    Ch1Servlet.java......So that was a problem.Now I'm
    able to compile.Oh, yeah. Notepad will do that to you. I think when you save in Notepad if you put quotes around the name "Whatever.java" then it won't add the .txt.
    But on compiling I'm getting the following error
    package java.servlet.* does not exist
    package java.servlet.http.* does not exist
    package java.io.* does not exist
    Do u the reason for this??? The servlet stuff is java[b]x.servlet. For the io stuff, I don't know, I'd have to see your code. Either you have a typo or a corrupt installation.

  • RUN SERVER SIDE OS COMMAND OR ANY EXECUTABLE FILE FROM CLIENT

    Would you provide a complete example regarding execution Server side OS command or program from ORACLE SQL CLIENT OR FORM. This client may be a remote client.

    instead of just copying jvm.dll, I would recommend installing Java through the installer as there are most likely other files that jvm.dll is dependent on, etc.
    It's been a while since I have worked with HAL integrations (Vignette), but I believe you will need HFM client installed on the end user machine.
    If you have a lot of machines, this could be a bit annoying. Because of that when we used HAL, we made a custom web front-end that ran on a server with the HAL programs. It was more work to build the web U/I; however, from a management perspective, it was a lot easier to control/maintain.

  • Trying to understand CF side-by-side installations (CF9 and CF11)

    I'm testing my upgrade from CF9 to CF11 on the same server.  Looks like my old CF9 installation was an enterprise, standard, IIS installation.  (if that makes sense to you)  My CF11 is an enterprise, production + secure, stand-alone installation.  It appears that I had to choose the stand-alone installation with internal web server so it can diferentiate between the two Cold Fusions adn do side-by-side installation.  We want to use the internal web server anyhow so we can use the built-in Tomcat server instead of having to install a separate one.  Now  the question has come up, how do I get all of my web pages that are on IIS into my current ColdFusion.  I discovered a document that discusses the Web Server Management.  It looks like I can run it now and it will configure my connection between IIS and ColdFusion.
    https://wikidocs.adobe.com/wiki/display/coldfusionen/Web+Server+Management
    My question is, can this be done while CF9 is still up and running and then it would give me a CF11 ran instance of using the CF webpages  so I can test them and get them to work.    Someone was thinking that IIS wouldn't be able to figure out which CF administrator to use.   Two CF applications cannot use IIS at the same time.  If so, how do I get the two systems to run side-by-side using my CF pages, so I can test if anything broke and needs to be changed in the code,  and/or test any of the new capabilities in CF11?
    Thanks in advance!!

    It can be done, but it is not necessarily for the faint of heart.  I haven't done it in quite some time.  Here are the basics:
    Figure out which ports CF 9 is using.
    Install CF11 using the built-in web server first (don't connect it to IIS).  Make sure CF 11 is not trying to use the same ports as CF 9.
    Run the CF9 Web Server Connection Tool.  See if you have "all sites" configured.  If you do, remove the connector and reinstall individually to the sites you want CF9 to operate.  Make sure your sites operate properly before moving on.
    If you want to have the same site code run under both CF9 and CF11, you'll need to copy the directory of the CF9 site to a new directory for CF11 (e.g.: D:\sites\MySite -> D:\sites\MySite2)
    Run the CF11 Web Server Connection Tool.  Connect your CF11 site (D:\sites\MySite2) to IIS.
    Repeat 4&5 for each site you are parallel testing with CF11.
    I'd do a Google search on "install multiple versions of ColdFusion", as there are several blog articles involving previous versions of ColdFusion.  If you find one that shows CF9 paired with CF10, it should be pretty much the same for CF9 and CF11.
    If it were me, though, I'd spin up a virtual machine, copy the site code in, and install CF11.  I would then do extensive testing, fix code that breaks, then when once I was satisfied CF11 is working fine, copy the code updates back to my production server and do an upgrade install of CF11 to replace CF9.

  • HOWTO: Setting up Server-Side Authentication with SSL

    This howto covers the configuration of server-side SSL authentication for both Net8 and IIOP (JServer) connections. It documents the steps required to set up an SSL encrypted connection; it does not cover certificate authentication.
    It is worthwhile noting that although the setup of SSL requires the installation of certificates, these certificates do not have to be current, only valid. For some reason, in order to enable SSL connections, it is necessary to set up valid certificate file on the server whether you intend to use certificate authentication or not.
    NOTE: I have been unable to determine whether or not the above statement is entirely correct. If anyone can confirm or disprove it, please let me know.
    The steps described below must all be carried out from the same logon account. They have been tested on both 816 and 817 databases, but will probably work for all versions, including 9i (unless there have been some drastic changes in 9i that I'm not aware of).
    1. Log on to the database server with an administrative login.
    Configure the database and listener to run under the current login account (Control Panel -> Services). It is not necessary to restart these services at this time.
    2. Create an Oracle wallet and set up the required certificates
    (i) Open the Oracle Wallet Manager:
    Start -> Programs -> [Oracle Home] -> Network Administration -> Wallet Manager
    (ii) Create a new wallet (Wallet -> New).
    (iii) When prompted, elect to generate a certificate request.
    (iv) On the request form, the only field that matters is the Common Name. Enter the fully qualified domain name (FQDN) of the database server (i.e. the name with which the database server will be referenced by clients).
    (v) Export the certificate request to file (Operations -> Export Certificate Request).
    (vi) Obtain a valid server certificate from an authorised signing authority. It will also be necessary to download the signing authoritys publicly available trusted root certificate. Certificates can be obtained from Verisign (http://www.verisign.com/)
    (vii) Install the trusted root certificate obtained in (vi) into the wallet (Operations -> Import Trusted Certificate). Either paste the contents of the certificate file, or browse to the file on the file system.
    (viii) Install the server certificate obtained in (vi) into the wallet (Operations -> Import User Certificate). Either paste the contents of the certificate file, or browse to the file on the file system.
    (ix) Save the wallet (Wallet -> Save). The wallet will be saved to the [user home]\Oracle\Wallets directory.
    3. Configure the listener for SSL.
    (i) Open the Oracle Net8 Assistant:
    Start -> Programs -> [Oracle Home] -> Network Administration -> Net8 Assistant
    (ii) Select Net8 Configuration -> Local -> Profile.
    (iii) From the drop-down list at right, select Oracle Advanced Security. Select the SSL tab.
    (iv) Select the Server radio button.
    (v) In the wallet directory field, enter the location of the wallet created in step 2, e.g. C:\WINNT\Profiles\oracleuser\ORACLE\WALLET
    (vi) Uncheck the Require Client Authentication checkbox.
    (vii) Select Net8 Configuration -> Listeners -> [listener name].
    (viii) Add a new address:
    Protocol: TCP/IP with SSL
    Host: [database server FQDN] (e.g. oraserver)
    Port: 2484
    (ix) Add a second new address:
    Protocol: TCP/IP with SSL
    Host: [database server FQDN] (e.g. oraserver)
    Port: 2482
    Check the Dedicate this endpoint to IIOP connections checkbox.
    (x) Save the Net8 configuration (File p Save Network Configuration).
    (xi) Restart the listener service.
    4. Configure the database to accept SSL connections.
    (i) Open the database inti.ora file (\admin\[SID]\pfile\init.ora or equivalent).
    (ii) At the bottom of the file, uncomment the line that reads
    mts_dispatchers = "(PROTOCOL=TCPS)(PRE=oracle.aurora.server.SGiopServer)"
    (iii) Save the file and restart the database service.
    5. Test the SSL confi guration using the Net8 Assistant.
    (i) Open the Oracle Net8 Assistant.
    (ii) Select Net8 Configuration -> Local -> Service Naming.
    (iii) Add a new net service (Edit p Create).
    Net service name: [SID].auth (e.g. iasdb.auth)
    Protocol: TCP/IP with SSL
    Host: [database server] (e.g. oraserver)
    Port: 2484
    Service Name/SID: [SID] (e.g. iasdb.orion.internal)
    Note: at the end of the net service configuration, click Finish, not Test. The test can hang if run from the wizard.
    (iv) Test the connection (Command -> Test Service). If the only error to appear is username/password denied, the test has succeeded.

    Dear Alex,
    Thank you for reaching the Small Business Support Community.
    I would first suggest you to uncheck the "Perfect Forward Secrecy" setting on the RVS4000 and if see if there is some similar setting enabled, then disable it, on the other side.  If still the same thing happens, then go to RVS4000, VPN Advanced settings, and disable the "Aggressive Mode" so it becomes "Main mode" and use the same on the other end of the tunnel.
    Just in case and as a VPN configuration guide, below is a document called "IPSec VPN setup" if it helps somehow;
    http://sbkb.cisco.com/CiscoSB/Loginr.aspx?login=1&pid=2&app=search&vw=1&articleid=587
    Besides my suggestions I would advise you to contact your ISP to make sure there is no IPSec traffic restrictions and/or if there is something in particular they require to make this happen and please do not hesitate to reach me back if there is any further assistance I may help you with.

  • OWB 9.2.0.2.8 Server Side Install Run Time Assistant Components

    Hi all,
    I have Oracle 9.2. on a Solaris/ Sun server.
    I have installed OWB 9.2.0.2.8 on the client desktop running WinXP.
    After installing the Design Repository I was installing the Run Time assistant when I had the INS0034 error, requiring that server side components be installed first. So after going back to the installer I used the "Install Server Side option" which actually installed software to my windows Oracle home ??? After that still had the INS0034 error.
    My question is. Do I need to use the OWB for Solaris disk and access the Sun server console to install the server side components ? I'm confused as I already have the OWB disk for Windows which is where I would like to install the client.
    So not sure where to from here.
    Get Solaris version of OWB and install on Sun Server ? Or have I missed an obvious option with the Windows install disk ?
    Any help would be appreciated ... Project is stalled at this point.
    Regards
    Nick

    Hi Nick,
    We have a similar configuration on my project. You will need to use the OWB for solaris disk if you intend to use OWB to deploy any object or run any mappings. OWB will need to be installed on any Sun server that you will be deploying your warehouse to (not necessarily where the OWB design repository is).
    Run the installation from the Sun server console and choose the "Install Sun Server Side option". Once installed, you will also need to run the Runtime Assistant from the server console. Select the option to install the Runtime Repository. This ensure that the Runtime Platform Service is running. Without that you'll have trouble running the Deployment Manager.
    Check out sections 2.5 and 2.6 of the Installation and Configuration guide for more details.
    Cheers
    Dave

  • Server Side Install on Solaris

    Hello,
    I have OWB 9.2.0.2 client on WinXP (Design Time Install) and Oracle 9.2.0.2 database on Solaris. I have to install Server Side Components and run Runtime Assistant to create Runtime Repository and Runtime Access User.
    I have downloaded OWB 9.2.0.2.8 for Solaris.
    When I start Universal Installer I get message that I must have different Oracle Home for this installation. If I enter different home on same user, what will happen with old environment home variable ORACLE_HOME? This database is important and I don't know what will happen with environment variables? So, I created another user and new oracle home "oracle9i_owb". When I set environment and start installation \usr\....\Disk1\stage\Components\oracle.swd.oui\2.2.0.14.0\1\DataFiles\Expanded\install\solaris\runInstaller.sh there is a mesasage: %PROD_HOME%\install: does't exist.
    So I created environment variable PROD_HOME that looks on ....\Expanded\ but it doesn't work. (PROD_HOME is inside new ORACLE_HOME due to instructions in guide that came with this installation.)
    What is the problem here?
    Thanx,
    Branimir
