Is it possible to use service composer in CE 7.2 to join the 2 or more webservices?
can any one have documents for this case?

Error while executing webservice composed using service composer

Hello Experts,
We have composed a service using service composer DC by consuming PI soap interfaces.(SAP NW 7.4 SP07)
Composed Webservice works perfectly fine for some time then it throws folowing error when tested from wsnavigator -
any idea what could be the problem??

Try not changing the schema names when creating the web services. And if you are changing it, make sure you change it everywhere required.
This error is thrown when the server can't find a specified schema class.
But if you mention that the service works fine for some time and later crashes, makes the scene a little fishy.
Please log on to http://<hostname>:<portnumber>/nwa/logs immediately after this failure occurs and check the logs for a detailed error trace.

OSB - Service Invocation instance response times

Hi,
In my research and discussion with OSB vendor team, I found there is no product feature to gather statistics on per invocation response times for a OSB service.
My requirement is to gather per invocation response time of service. I am contemplating few ways of doing this
1. Java call outs before the start and end of service.
Downside of this approach is in my composite service (composing 10 biz services) with challenging response time requirements, it might be a over head to wrap each biz service with java call outs for measurements. Any thots?
2. There is a report feature in OSB. How about using SNMP traps for reporting the start and ends. I am wondering if this is any better than java call outs which might be synchronous I/O operation.
Do you folks see alternate approaches?

I think that generally it's not a good idea to modify production logic (code or configuration) to gather any statistics. It may look simple, but there is still possibility of unexpected failure that would cause failure of your service. Not to mention complexity of such a step.*

This kind of data should be gathered from your infrastructure components. I know that OSB doesn't provide such a feature, but if you have your services published on HTTP protocol, than you can always use some kind of proxy server. In our company, we use feature-rich Apache HTTP server for many reasons. Response time logging is one of such reasons.*

As we all know human involvement in composition of web services makes them time-consuming and error prone. So, do we have the concept of Automatic service composition in Netweaver Composite environment, where we could automatically or semi automatically orchestrate web services. I have searched all wikis but couldn't find more about this work.

As far as I know, the upcoming version of NetWeaver Composition Environtment 7.2, will include an enhanced Composite Designer, that will include a new central entry point for modeling and assembling composite applications and also a new Service Composer, allowing service composition and simplification, by providing a single service based on multiple backed services.

I also suggest to use the BPM only with automatic activities, as a BPEL engine.

Why can't I attach a file to an email when using Firefox 6.0.1? Works fine if using Explorer

I do not have this problem when I use Explorer as the browser

I uninstalled Adobe reader, then did the rest of your suggestions but the problem remains. It is only with 3 emails that get resent daily with slight changes to the text. It is like most of the text has been removed from the email.

Webcenter 11g licensing

Hi,
WebCenter consists of multiple parts (framework, services, composer, ...).
Do I need WebCenter license when I only use the framework and composer functionality but no pre-build webcenter service (like wiki, blog, email, ...)?

Strange... I thought it was possible. Maybe you can contact someone from oracle sales to be sure.
Also, what do you want to build? Because you want to build webcenter apps, i think you also want to build portlets. Those portlets, do they need to be ADF portlets or taskflows converted into a portlet? The reason for this, is because ADF portlets and taskflows to portlets require the ADF portlet bridge and if i recall correctly from previous discussion i had with a customer, the portlet bridge is only available in the webcenter service and webcenter suite licence. So if their is a sepperate webcenter framework license (which i think their is...) you don't have the portlet bridge included into it. Therefore you need at least the webcenter services or suite.

Many many small BPEL Processes

Hi there,
we are (slowly) working our way towards a SOA. The latest step has thrown up a quandary. We are working towards implementing our complete business logic as web services, as is usual. One of the core parts of the system is one that handles the creation of payments. We already have a service where individual payments are created and this is called directly a lot of the time from the GUI. We also have a level above this called a business transaction where several payments are created and usually a bit of external logic that is already implemented in another web service. It is a perfect task for a small BPEL Process. The problem is we could have as many as 300 such cases. Is there a recognized way of combining all of these processes together? If I understand it correctly each BPEL Process will be an individual WebService? That could be a pain referencing 300 separate web services from our front end. Would there be a way of combining them into one? One massive BPEL Process surely can't be the answer?

I honestly don't think it is a consulting question or usecase specific, I think it is a pretty fundamental SOA and BPEL question and the specifically the Sun implementation. Maybe I should have just kept it abstract, but I thought a bit of background would make it easier to envisage what I wanted to do.
The literature on SOA generally speaks of 3 Levels: Basic Services, Composed Services and Process Services. Imagine I have a WebService A that is an ordinary Basic / business-logic / atomic webservice. I also have a whole suite of other WebServices B-Z on this level. I then have in a specific place in my frontend a huge list of actions that I can do. The focus is primarily on actions that are implemented in the WebService A but also depending on the Action also doing a secondard task that is implemented in one of the WebServices B - Z. This description would put it firmly in the Composed Services description. But problem is that I have 300 such tasks that are firmly grouped together. The user has a combobox with these 300 Options. Imagine if each Option had to call a different WebService. I can imagine a whole plethora of use cases that fit this pattern. Anywhere where an action is required in a process and the action corresponds to a Composed Service but with many available possibilities. My ideal solution would somehow be 1 WebService with 300 Operations.
I'm looking into Dynamic Partner links as suggested. Not sure it this would be supported by the OpenESB BPEL engine though.

ESOA mean Enterprise Service Oriented Architecture
SOA mean an Architecture approach to define IT solution for business problems using loose couples SERVICES
Service mean: definition of a business function in terms of the service message, protocol and nature
Nature mean Service direction, Service mode and service contract
WEB SERVICE, XML, XSD, SOAP : Mean a technology following SOA architecture approach to IT enablement of a business need.
WEB service compose business functions, location of services, messages of service offering and protocol into a single definition to define service contract.
XML mean a common language to represent message
XSD mean a common way to define message structure
SOAP mean a procol which carry messages of services between service consumer and service provider.
Finally : Web service is not SOA. Web service is a technology implementing SOA architectural approach to IT enablement of a business NEED.

Multiple insance of same transaction (asynchronous mode)

I created a structured service composed by:
- a master transaction executed every 10 minutes which runs several instances (30) of a slave transaction with Asynchronous mode
- a slave transaction with duration between 1 minute and 3 minutes.
I found that
- master transaction complete its task in 10 seconds and runs all 30 instances of slave transactions (asynchronous)
- 18 slave transactions start at once
- 12 slave transactions remain in pendig status till first group finishes
Have you ever found this behaviour?
Is this 18 a fixed limit or a MII parameter? Where could I change it?

Hello Fabio,
Transactions launched asynchronously are handled by MII via JMS and EJB.
You may be able to adapt the behavior in such execution, but it may affect directly the system performance.
I suggest you to check section 'Transactions stuck in PENDING state' of MII handbook.

The scenario is as follows: we have a common data model in use, and all new-defined services should adhere to this model. Besides the data model we also have Naming rules for our services, operations etc.
So for all (rule)-services we've identified in our project we want to apply the contract-first approach by designing them in the ESR first (using all naming conventions and data types of the common model), and only then implementing them. For a service that is implemented in an ABAP-system this is easy, because you can generate a proxy in trx SPROXY etc. In this proces you're able to keep the names of the operations/messages that you defined in the ESR.
For rules, I'm looking for the same thing. So I want my rules to use the data definitions of our ESR-WSDL (and you explained that this is possible and how to do it, thank you), and I want my rule-webservice to keep the name I've defined in the ESR-WSDL for it. What's not clear to me is if this possible in BRM. Could you explain to me this merging process in the service composer? Is it possible to use our naming-conv-compliant SI/operations-names, and 'bind' the defined rules(ets) (which implement the service) to this definition?

In netweaver 2004s enterpise portal ,i have done the system connection between Enterpise Portal and ECC and BW ,and the system alias can be accessed in visual composer .Both the bapi and infocube can be got by the system alias .The Visual Composer Application based on the backend data service is ok .
However ,i have registry the ecc system in CE Portal and its version is SAP Composte Environment SP5 .I can check out the system registry is ok . However ,when i open the Visual Composer on the CE Portal ,i couldnt find the system alias that i have registried .It is blank .Plus,we havent install SLD on the CE Java Server ,and solution manager is put forward to take the place of sld .
Can anybody help me out ? The problem has any relationship with the Enterpise Service Repository ?

Hi Eleanor,
first of all if you want to use SAP BW in Visual Composer for CE then you have to install Enhancement Package 1. SAP BW resp. queries, planning functions and so on is only supported with VC 7.11 (EhP1 for CE). I also recommend you to set up the SLD in your CE system resp. that it works as a "slave SLD" when you have an existing SLD in your landscape. There are wizards available in the NetWeaver Administrator.
Go to http://<host>:<port>/nwa to login into NetWeaver Administrator.
Navigate to Configuraton --> Scenario --> Configuration Wizard and choose the Initial setup of functional unit SLD.
If you want to have access to BAPIs there are two ways to access the system. You can define a portal system object to access the ECC or you can define in NWA a RFC connection to access ECC.

However ,i find that there's no VC-Role in CE SP5,and the permission add-in didnt work .Besides ,when i deploy VC component on the EP 6.0 ,i can find these iviews or models at the directory of content administrator->visual composer ,while in the new version ,i havent find the configuration path on the Visual Composer Client,and when i deploy the VC Applications ,it is deployed in the path of webdynpro content management .
and my question is still up in the air .

Error calling web service from Viusal Composer

I'm accessing entity services methods published as web services from a composite application from Visual Composer. I'm using version 7.0 SR3 SP15.
Iu2019m able to access create and read methods from entities services. But from same getAll() methods Iu2019m getting access error. When I execute the same getAll() method from u201CWeb Service Navigatoru201D it works ok. But from Visual Composer itu2019s not working. That happens only for same entities for others itu2019s working ok.
From VC Iu2019m able to select the WDSL and use I in the iViews. The other methods of the iView works ok except for the getAll.
I have already set the options of VC to not keep a cache of web services definition and review and recreate the system in portal landsacape and teh related alias to access the web services. I have laso checked te user and password in the mapping.

Using the infprmation in the link that you pass me I was able to look into the log files and see what the problem is.
The getAll service as it is geerated by NWDS receive an input paramter:
queryFilter (test.types.p1.GetAllQueryFilter)
In VC when I drop the getAll method from the corresponding service data into the working area. That input parameters doesn't apper aonly the output parameter.
Then when I execute or test that service. The portal is giving an error:

But that parameters was never recognized by VC.
