Service Request - Load balancing weight & TM labour schedule

What is Load balancing weight? How does it work, (I think it must be w.r.t the selecting resources for assigning the task, But how does it work, I am not getting the help menu in this)
How does the T&M labour schedule is managed
Regards

Hi,
1. I had some time and setup your config. Load Balancing seems to work fine for me. I tried to work with 4 different clients.
WHat I did to set it up:
# Failover RG for shared address
scrgadm -a -g proftp-srg -h mars,saturn
scrgadm -a -S -j hafast_r -g proftp-srg -l hafast
# Scalable RG for proftpd
scrgadm -a -g proftp-rg -y Maximum_primaries=2 -y Desired_primaries=2 -h mars,saturn -y RG_dependencies=proftp-srg
scrgadm -a -j proftp_r -g proftp-rg -t SUNW.gds -y Network_resources_used=hafast_r -y Port_l
ist=4443/tcp -x Start_command=/usr/local/sbin/proftpd -x Probe_command=/bin/true -y Scalable=true -y Load_balancing_policy=Lb_sticky_wild
I assume that the key is the Lb_sticky_wild setting. As proftp forks new processes for every connection and even does reconnects during operation with new ports this seems to be essential. Please try
2. It was not considered an excellent idea to configure ftp as a scalable service. Reason is that you now have network traffic load balanced. Question is: how do you configure shared storage. Do you have one (1) underlying global filesystem??? That could be a bottleneck. Check it out.
Regards
Hartmut
PS: BTW I used proftp 1.3.0

  • SAP GLM Print Request - Load Balancing of WWI server

    Hi GLM Experts,
    I am using new GLM + module that generates labels based on Print Requests. I am unable to understand how I can load balance the WWI services when there are multiple label printing requests.
    In GLM + we associate a WWI to a Print Station and which can then be associated with a printer. So in the configuration we are tying up a printer a WWI.
    Also during label printing, if the scenario uses print request module, then the use need to select a print station and printer. What happens if the WWI related to the print station is down?
    For example I have two services in WWI server GENPC1 and GENPC2. I created WWII and WWI2 as two print stations. I will associate my printer PRNWWI to both the print stations WWI1 and WWI2.
    During label printing if the user picks and WWI1 and Printer PDNWWI and if the GENPC1 WWI server assocaited with print status WWI1 is busy and down I want WWI GENPC2 to generate the label?
    How to setup the above load balancing or fall back? Please let me know.
    Thanks
    Pugal

    Dear Pugal
    we are not using GLM + and I am not sure about the technqiue used there to handle load balancing. Regarding general WWI setup I assume you know this Note: EH&S: Availability and performance of WWI and Expert servers
    On the top there is a further SAP Note abvailable which might be of interest. This is referenced here:
    http://de.scribd.com/doc/191576739/011000358700000861002013-e
    May be check OSS note: 1958655; OSS Note 1155294 is more related to normal WWI stuff; but may be check it as well. May be 1934253 might help better
    May be this might help.
    C.B.
    PS: may be check as well: consolut - EHS_MD_140_01 - EH&S-Management-Server einrichten
    The load balancing of synchron WWi servers is donein the "RFC" layer, therefore you have no inffluence here, for asynchron WWI servers you can do a lot to manage the WWI load balancing by using "exits" etc.

  • Access Manager 6 2005Q1 naming service behind load balancer

    Access Manager is running on box A & box B using the Sun Web Server as its front end web server. Box A & B both have a complete install of Sun Web Server, Access Manager, and Directory Server. The Directory servers are set up to replicate changes between each other. Our Policy Agents are running on box C & box D under the Apache web servers.
    Users will access applications on box C/D via https. The policy agents on box C/D should redirect the user to box A/B (via a load balancer VIP)for authentication. The redirect will be https. Once authenticated the user should be redirected back to box C/D.
    All subsequent communications between the Agents on box C/D to AM on box A/B (via load balancer VIP) are http.
    The load balancer VIP is setup in active/failover mode so all requests go to one server. We implemented it this way because our load balancers do not support SSL with cookies.
    The data returned to the agent from a call to the naming service contains the host name of our AM hosts instead of the load balancer VIP. Subsequent calls from the agent to AM bypass the load balancer and go directly to one of the AM hosts.
    We are looking to upgrade our load balancers to a version that supports cookies with ssl in order to take advantage of the second AM host.
    How do we configure AM so the values returned by the naming service contain the load balancer VIP instead of the actual AM host names?

    Bernhard,
    We have upgraded our Web PA to version 2.1-09. One of your previous replies stated the com.iplanet.am.naming.ignoreNamingservice property was not availalbe in the PA agent properties but only in the Java SKD. Indeed we do not see such a key in the new Web PA AMAgent.properties.
    Can you please explain how to configure the AMAgent.properties and/or the Access Manager server (or properties) so that subsequent calls to the services (returned by the call to the naming service) get directed thru the load balancer? Below are the setting in our AMAgent and AMConfig properties files
    AMAgent.properties
    com.sun.am.namingURL = https://lb-mydomain.com:443/amserver/namingservice
    com.sun.am.policy.am.loginURL = https://lb-mydomain.com:443/amserver/UI/Login
    AMConfig.properties
    com.iplanet.am.server.protocol=https
    com.iplanet.am.server.host=am.mydomain.com
    com.iplanet.am.server.port=443
    com.iplanet.am.console.protocol=https
    com.iplanet.am.console.host=lb-mydomain.com
    com.iplanet.am.console.port=443
    com.iplanet.am.profile.host=lb-mydomain.com
    com.iplanet.am.profile.port=443
    com.iplanet.am.naming.url=https://lb-mydomain.com:443/amserver/namingservice
    com.iplanet.am.notification.url=https://lb-mydomain.com:443/amserver/notifica
    tionservice
    If we set com.iplanet.am.server.host=lb-mydomain.com we get an exception when trying to start the AM web container. I don't know if this may be partof our issue or not. Please comment.

  • Distributed naming services for load balancing

    Can distributed naming services can be used for load balancing?

    ata,
    Before jumping to anything so bloated and limited as cougaar, take time to consider what you really need. Before grabing at the fanciest Java features like RMI, JINI, and custom SocketFactories; focus on what you are trying to accomplish.

  • Distributed services with load balancing and failover?

    Hullo;
    What platform would you use to implement something like the following:
    * easy registration of various services
    * delegation of a service request to the best candidate of many, based on some measure (probably reported by the services themselves)
    * quick failover and location of an alternate service in case the best candidate does not respond (real-life environment, uncertain networks and servers;)
    RMI could be a starting point, with a custom SocketFactory to take care of the timeouts and redelegations and a good delegator service to work through. The service concept sounds a lot like JINI, but I don't see any provision for best candidate selection, and wonder whether JINI would really save any time compared to RMI in this case.
    Is there anything else I should be aware of? I wouldn't mind finding a pre-built wheel. (Cougaar (http://www.cougaar.org/) is on my reading list; a quick glance gives me the impression it may be a bit too heavy on the communication level, but maybe I'm wrong.)
    Thanks for your thoughts;

  • Load balancing for specific services in RAC

    Hi,
          I have a two node RAC database 11gR2 version.I am planning to create 2 services for the database.For one of the services I dont want to enable server side load balancing and for the other one I want to enable load balancing.Will the following setting work
    services:
    srv1  --  load balancing not to be enabled
    srv2 --  load balancing to be enabled
    DB configuration:
    For srv1 I will not use SCAN ip and I will connect using the vip of the servers.
    For srv2 I will use SCAN ip and i will set the remote_listener(to SCAN:port) parameter and local listener parameter accordingly.
    Will this serve my purpose
    Thanks
    Sekar

    If the database is admin-managed, I shall suggest that rather than playing with the remote_listener parameter , set one service as preferred for one instance.For the other service, let it be preferred on both the nodes. The service with just one instance as Preferred won't be able to use loab-balancing as there is just one instance available for its disposal.

  • 2 App servers in farm will be auto failover and load balanced?

    Dear all,
    We are going to setup following SharePoint farm:
    2 WFE
    2 APP
    2 OWA
    2 SQL with shared NAS
    We will have hardware load balance in front of 2 WFE. From my understanding, the 2 WFE will detect which APP server is available and send the request there.
    Hence, if APP1 is down, all traffic come from both WFE will be directed to APP2.
    But I am not so sure about the part about load balance. If all the 8 server instance are working properly, the new request come from WFE2 will be sent to APP1 or APP2? Or it depends on which service application is asking?
    In addition, we planned to run all search components on APP servers. But the 2 APP servers are both 16GB memory which is lower than suggested specification.  I am considering whether I can assign all the search workload on APP2 while all the other on
    APP1.
    Thanks.
    Mark

    Here is a good artcicle on how SharePoint load balances service applications:
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/dtaylor/archive/2011/02/23/sharepoint-2010-service-application-load-balancer.aspx
    Yes you can create APP02 as search server but then service apps will not be redundant , so it would be better to run all the service apps on both the servers and if you see any memory issues, then scale it later.
    As per
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/651dba4d-8751-4bd8-9492-f2842b2e1177(v=office.15)#HW_Enterprise , 16 GB is recommended for application server  so i think you should be okay unless there is very high load .

  • CSS Scalable Load Balancing Method

    Greetings All,
    Looking to the brain trust here for some options on a requested load balancing schema.
    I have a CSS11506 for which I need to configure some 'scalable' load balancing.
    We have 2 servers configured for load balancing... we'll call the services S1 and S2.
    The requirement is to have S1 to service all traffic until its related server CPU reaches 80%. Once this occurs, then traffic should start being sent to S2 for load balancing.
    How can I accomplish this?
    Thanks!
    -Adam

    Gilles,
    Thanks for the reply.
    I'm not real savvy with creating scripted keep-alives from scratch.
    Can you direct me to some links where I can learn more about creating such a script on the CSS?
    Thanks again!

  • Load Balancing on RAC Test

    Hi Team,
    We have 2 node ORACLE 10g RAC setup on RHEL4
    We have to prepare a Load Balancing Scenario
    1. How and on what basis Client Requests/load balancing are done on the oracle 10g RAC nodes
    2. How to Moniotor on which node client request/tasks are performed
    Please Lighten me on this
    Thanks in Advance for your help
    Thanks,

    1. depends on how your load balancing is setup - client side (tnsnames.ora) or server side (remote listener)
    See http://www.oracle.com/technology/pub/articles/hunter_rac10gr2_iscsi_3.html#30
    2. select from gv$session

  • SSL Setup in a load balanced portal

    Hi,
    We are implementing a portal landscape and also we are using a hardware based (Cisco ACE) load balancer for load balancing purposes.
    So the configuration would be:
    Portal requests --> Load Balancer --> Portal --> Backend
    We are trying to implement SSL until the portal server and I have a question regarding the SSL certificate installation process.
    The URL on the load balancer would be for example https://portaltest.mycompany.com which would load balance the requests between the application servers of the portal (https://sapeptest1.mycompany.com:50001/irj/portal and https://sapeptest2.mycompany.com:50001/irj/portal).
    So, first thing we will have to do would be to install an SSL certificate (signed by a Trusted CA) on the load balancer with a CN=portaltest.mycompany.com.
    I understand that for https to function properly, the host name in the URL we are using to get to the server should match the CN of the SSL certificate installed on the server.
    Now, can we install the same certificate (that we put on the LB) on the portal as well?
    (This might not work because the server type will be different)
    (or)
    Do we need to buy 2 certificates with the same CN and install one each on the LB and portal ?
    Can some one please suggest on how to proceed with the SSL setup and certificate installation process ?
    Thank You ,
    Raj

    Raj Kumar wrote:
    My question is about how to go about installing the certificates on the LB and on the portal.
    If you aren't using web dispatcher, then the details of the installation on the LB will depend on your LB (Cisco? Radware? etc?). I suggest contacting your LB vendor for that.
    Sen's link is for SSO, you want the [SSL procedure|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/f1/2de3be0382df45a398d3f9fb86a36a/frameset.htm].
    You probably don't need a signed cert on the portal server itself (depending on whether your LB validates the cert). You could just use the default self-signed cert, since users won't be connecting to it directly and so won't be troubled by warnings about untrusted certs: the traffic from the AS would still be encrypted, you would only lose out on the server authentication feature (which you don't need, since again users won't see it).
    On the other hand, do you really need SSL on portal server? That adds overhead at both the LB and portal. It's usually sufficient to use HTTP from the LB to the back-end, as long as the servers only allow connections from the LB. I realize you aren't using web dispatcher, but this looks like scenario #3 in [this diagram|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/d8/a922d7f45f11d5996e00508b5d5211/frameset.htm]

  • Load Balancing in Oracle AS10g

    Hi all,
    i have several applications deployed in my application server.
    Each application is deployed in his OC4J Container
    Application A is Deployed in OC4J Container - Container A
    I have configured container A, so that it starts 4 processes (i.e. 4 jvm), has i understood, Container A should distribute the requests among these 4 processes.
    Sometimes i have some "weird" situations:
    Process ID Island Active Requests
    8888 default_island 1
    3276 default_island 1
    7716 default_island 21
    5856 default_island 1
    I'm having 25 requests , load-balancing is leading to very bad response time...
    Can you point me some direction so i can investigate further ??? how is the load-balancing algorith implemented ??? what config files should i look ?? some tip ???
    my environment:
    Hp DL580 server
    Windows Server 2003
    Oracle application server 10g ( 9.0.4)
    Web application built with BC4J deployed in Application Server
    Best Regards
    Rui Madaleno

    Hi
    I have read the article you suggested.
    I don't have Oc4JSelectMethod specified in $ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/conf/mod_oc4j.conf file
    As far as i understand this directive tells ModOc4J , wich one of the OC4J Containers should be used to handle the request.
    This is not my scenario, i have only one OC4J container for one Application
    OC4J_ContainerA -> Application A
    OC4J_Container B -> Application B
    Not this one
    OC4J_ContainerA -> Application A
    OC4J_Container B -> Application A
    What i need to understand is, inside one OC4J_Container , how is the distribution of requests among the several oc4j processes
    Best Regards

    Clustering : is the use of multiple computers to provide a single service.
    Load Balancing: Technique implemented to spread "load" between alike computers for service availability via unshared system resources increasing  system availability and performance.

  • OSB jms clustering - load balancing seems to be not working

    Hi All,
    I have one admin server and two managed servers running ( one of these managed server is running in the remote linux machine) in a cluster
    I have connectionfactory created with load balance enabled with round robin
    and server affinity is disabled
    I have queue created as uniformly distributed Q
    I have a proxy service with load balancing as roundrobin and endpoint URL as below
    jms://rdoelapp001011:61703,rdoelapp001013:61703/synergyConnectionFactory1/MM_gridQ0
    If I execute this proxy sending messages it always go to one server only. There is no message going to the other server.
    If I shutdown the server that receives messages then the other server is receiving messages. Seems like fail-over is working but not the load-balancing
    There is one point may be worth mentioning here is, from the admin console if I look at the servers for the clusters it has below information
    Name      State      Drop-out Frequency      Remote Groups Discovered      Local Group Leader      Total Groups      Discovered Group Leaders      Groups      Primary
    synergyOSBServer1     RUNNING     Never     0     synergyOSBServer1     1     synergyOSBServer1     *{synergyOSBServer1}*     0
    synergyOSBServer2     RUNNING     Never     0     synergyOSBServer1     1     synergyOSBServer1     *{synergyOSBServer1, synergyOSBServer2}* 0
    one server has groups as {synergYOSBServer1} instead of {synergyOSBServer1, synergyOSBServer2}. Does that look correct?

    I am not getting you here "the right approach is to make OSB run on the man server cluster and not on admin server. "
    I have a jms proxy service that I created from admin console
    And also I have gone thru the step 5 in the link below
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13159_01/osb/docs10gr3/deploy/config.html#wp1524235
    If I am not wrong, the proxy service endpoint URI determines where it is pointing to. If it is a cluster environment, it should point to a clustered address
    My proxy has below endpoint URI
    jms://rdoelapp001011:61703,rdoelapp001013:61703/synergyConnectionFactory1/MM_gridQ0
    and rdoelapp001011:61703,rdoelapp001013:61703 is my cluster address
    As per your suggestion "To fix your problem, *make osb to run on the cluster* and specify the same URL for the jms proxy service"
    Could you please provide some instruction how would I "make osb jms proxy service to run in a cluster"
    As a note, I have Q defined as a distributed Q and connection factory targets to the cluster. UDQ also targtes to the cluster.
    Just for a testing I have created another manged server running local to the machine where my admin server is running
    And I created a proxy by following steps as I mentioned above and with endpoint URI as below
    jms://rdoelapp001011:61703,rdoelapp001013:61703,*rdoelapp001011:61700*/synergyConnectionFactory1/MM_gridQ0
    where the new address of my cluster is rdoelapp001011:61703,rdoelapp001013:61703,rdoelapp001011:61700
    It did create consumers in both the managed servers in the cluster that are running locally, but no consumers in the remote managed server.
    So I am kind of leaning towards thinking that there is some incorrect setup for the remote managed server and may be admin server is not able to communicate to the remote server for some reason but not sure about it..
    As a note the cluster is setup to communicate using "unicast" channel
    and I created a channel in each manged server with the same name
    here is the cluster configuration
    <name>synergyCluster1</name>
    <cluster-address>rdoelapp001011:61703,rdoelapp001013:61703,rdoelapp001011:61700</cluster-address>

  • Load Balancing and Clustring in Essbase ?

    Hi All,
    can anyone let me know if "LOAD BALANCING & CLUSTRING" is avaliable in Hyperion Essbase 11.1.1.3? if it is possible , please explain me how it can be done.
    Please help me out from this doubt.
    Regards

    Hi,
    1. Refer to the following links.
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12825_01/epm.111/epm_high_avail/frameset.htm?ch01s04.html
    2. For essbase, oracle provider services enables Load Balancing and Failover functionality.
    3. Read about Oracle provider services too.

  • Create Service Request to open for the incident number we pass

    I want to call open Service Request form(Form:CSXSRISR) with details of incident number already loaded.
    I am trying to pass parameters like request_id, p_incident_id ,... When the form opens it says no such parameter is there. Is there any way to open a create service request form with the service request loaded for the incident number we pass

    Hi Joaquin,
    Thank you for answering. I already tried: I select the line with the email in the Inbox, I press Interact (the account is automatically recognized and I am asked to confirm it), I confirm the account and then I navigate to "Service Request" workcenter: a new Service Request is displayed, with the employee responsible and the customer automatically filled. However, I can see no data regarding any attached email in any of the Service Request tabs (even if I save or select "End").
    After your answer, I tried the same procedure with the "Service Ticket" and noticed that the email is correctly displayed as an Interaction Record under the Business Content tab for the Service Ticket: since you confirmed that this should work also for Service Request, I guess there's something wrong in my customizing settings and now I will search for errors.
    Thanks for your help.
    Best regards,
    Laura.
