Service setup propagation

Hi,
I have setup a fresh Snow Leopard install.
My FQDN is nemo.example.lan
Most things work very well but 1 problem is that services are propagated with this FQDN which obviously cannot be resolved externally. mail.example.lan can be resolved externally and this is how I used to connect under 10.5.
How can I either change the propagation domain name or should I look into a different kind of setup altogether? At this stage I don't want to host my own external DNS and my website isn't hosted locally.
Any suggestions ;o) ?
Thanks very much
Ben

Found a way around it.
When going to System Preferences, Accounts, Login Options,
Click on "Join"
Then click on Open Directory Utility, double click on LDAPv3
Then select you server IP or domain. This will prevent the "automatic" setup to propagate.
Next step, find out how to manually modify the propagation...
Cheers
Ben

    Hello,
    I am fairly new at Xserve administration, but I got thrown in the fire and i need your help.
    My system.log is being hammered with this error:

    I did my research and it seems to be related to Wiki, but I disabled wiki and restarted and it is still coming up. Any advice would really help

  • WCF service setup with certificate authentication error

    I have a WCF service setup and I need to use a certificate with it and are getting numerous errors when I attempt to browse it. The 1st error I get is "Security settings for this service require 'Anonymous' Authentication but it is not enabled for
    the IIS application that hosts this service."
    This sounds like a straightforward error message and setting the authentication method in IIS to anonymous resolves being able to browse the service. But I need to use a certificate and setting authentication to anonymous is obviously not right since we
    only want those with the proper certificate to access the service. I have all authentication methods in IIS set to disabled when I get the above error message. I have the SSL settings in IIS for the service set to require a certificate as well. I am using
    IIS 8.5 as well.
    Here is my config file in hoping someone could point me in the correct direction. The service should only work over HTTPS since we are using a certificate and I need the meta data exposed as well hence the mexHttpBinding. I have searched the web but no solution
    is working. Any help is appreciated.

    Hi spark29er,
    >>The service should only work over HTTPS since we are using a certificate and I need the meta data exposed as well hence the mexHttpBinding.
    For creating the HTTPS WCF service, first please change the mexHttpBinding to
    mexHttpsBinding as following:
    <endpoint contract="IMetadataExchange" binding="mexHttpsBinding" address="mex" />
    For more information, please try to refer to:
    #Seven simple steps to enable HTTPS on WCF WsHttp bindings:
    http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/36705/simple-steps-to-enable-HTTPS-on-WCF-WsHttp-bindi .
    Then please try to check the following article about how to do the certificate authentication on HTTPS WCF Service:
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/imayak/archive/2008/09/12/wcf-2-way-ssl-security-using-certificates.aspx .
    Besides, setting the
    includeExceptionDetailInFaults as false can give us more detailed error information.

    Hi,
    I am trying to install certificate services on a windows 2008 server (R2 ENT SP1) with a PCIe nCipher HSM module installed on it. The version of nCipher SW is = 11.30.  It is a RootCA, and I am trying to use a key that is already stored in the HSM (I
    have done this before with a PCI HSM (older HW version)).  I select “Use existing private key” and “Select an existing private key on this computer” on the wizard, then i change the CSP to nCipher and click on "search" the key I am looking for
    appears and I select that one.  I repeat, I have done this before and it works with a PCI HSM module.
    The installation is finished before being prompted to insert the operator cards, and it ends with two errors:

    Hi, thanks for your support.
    I have been playing around a bit with some ncipher commands and found this:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\nCipher\nfast\bin>cspcheck.exe
    cspcheck: fatal error: File key_mscapi_container-1c44b9424a23f6cddc91e8a065241a0

    6cddc91)
    cspcheck: information: 2 containers and 2 keys found.
    cspcheck: fatal error occurred.
    If I perform the same command on the original server (the server with the original kmdata folder and with the running RootCA services):
    E:\nfast\bin>cspcheck.exe
    cspcheck: information: 2 containers and 2 keys found.
    cspcheck: everything seems to be in order.
    Strange?
    Moreover, when I do a csptest.exe command (also on both servers, i find this)
    On the new server:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\nCipher\nfast\bin>csptest.exe
    nCipher CSP test software
    =========================
    Found the nCipher domestic CSP named 'nCipher Enhanced Cryptographic Provider'
      Provider name: nCipher Enhanced Cryptographic Provider
      Version number: 1.48
    User key containers:
        Container 'csptest.exe' has no stored keys.
        Container 'Administrator' has no stored keys.
      Machine key containers:
        Container '352dd28a-17cb-4c6f-b6e4-bf39bcf75db5' has a 2048-bit signature key.
        Container 'ROOTCA' has no stored keys.
        Container 'csptest.exe' has no stored keys.
    While in the old server:
    E:\nfast\bin>csptest.exe
    nCipher CSP test software
    =========================
    Found the nCipher domestic CSP named 'nCipher Enhanced Cryptographic Provider'
      Provider name: nCipher Enhanced Cryptographic Provider
      Version number: 1.40
    User key containers:
        Container 'csptest.exe' has no stored keys.
      Machine key containers:
        Container '352dd28a-17cb-4c6f-b6e4-bf39bcf75db5' has a 2048-bit signature key.
        Container 'ROOTCA' has a 2048-bit signature key.
        Container 'csptest.exe' has no stored keys.
    As you can see, the container called ROOTCA, which is the one that I use during the installation, says it has no stored keys.  While on the old server, it says it contains a key.  Why is this happening?  I dont know, I am copying the complete
    key management folder from one server to another and initialize the security world with that folder as I always do, and i dont have any errors during this procedure.
    Do you know what could be the cause of this? or how can I fix this?  Thanks a lot, best regards.

  • Mobile Concierge Service Setup Guide

    Hi All,
         as with my previous is am starting this thread as a help in configuring the Mobile Concierge Service.
    As the solution is new the documentation is a little light in detail so this is obviously a good place to document in more detail the setup and configuration.
    What is neede for the Mobile Concierge Service:
    Cisco Wireless LAN Controller:software version 7.2 or later
    Cisco Prime Infrastructure: software version 1.3 or later
    Cisco MSE (virtual or physical appliance): Cisco MSE software version 7.4 or later
    Documents i have used:
    Release Notes for Cisco Prime Infrastructure, Release 1.3.0.20
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/net_mgmt/prime/infrastructure/1.3/release/notes/cpi_rn_13.html

    As i attempt to get this service setup and configured i will post back here the details.
    If anyone has any questions to get the ball rolling then pelase post here:

    Mobile Concierge - Venue Wizard
    So the first thing that the Concierge service gets you to create is a venue.  You do this by using the wizard.
    Cisco's instructions are here:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/mse/3350/7.4/CAS_Configuration/Guide/7_4_MSE_CAS_chapter_0111.html#task_9F749496598541169607E266505012F4
    Venue Name
    So this will be the venue/location what you want this service to run at.  For example if this is a Shopping Centre/Mall, Sports venue then you would give it the name of your Venue. e.g Dolphin Shopping Mall or BlackCats Stadium (made up names :-) )
    As i am seting up this in our offices for testing i have given it the name of our company.
    Floor outdoor/Association
    Area Type - Next you choose area type either a floor area or outdoor.  I have chosen floor area as i am looking to use this service internally.
    Campus - Select that campus that you created in PI and want this service to work with.
    Building - Select the building that you created in PI and you want this service to work with.
    Floor - Select the Floor that you created in PI and you want this service to work with.
    Coverage area - Select the Coverage area that you created in PI and you want this service to work with.
    Selected Map - Once you have selected the coverage area above the map URL should be displayed here.
    Click Next takes you to the next section.
    Audio
    Here you can select the audio that you wish touse for notifications and you can add up to three.
    The manual does not explain what format these need to be in so PLEASE CAN SOMEONE ANSWER THIS PELASE
    Am guessing that this is the audio that is played on the mobile device for a notification but this needs clarification.
    Icons
    Again the manaual does not explain the use of icons, PLEASE CAN SOMEONE EXPLAIN THE USE OF ICONS, WHAT FORMAT,SIZE ETC TO USE.
    Am guessing that it is the icon that is displayed on the mobile device as part of MSAP (Mobile Services Advertismanet Protocol) but i am just guessing.
    Venue APPs
    Again the manual does not explain how this is actually implemented.  I expect that this is how you specify through MSAP the APP's that are available at your location.
    You enter the name of your app and i guess this is the actual name that appears on the mobile device.
    You have the following options:
    Web APP
    Windows Phone OS
    Android
    BBOS
    IOS
    Symbian
    WebOS
    Windows Mobile
    Desktop OS
    Other
    Am guessing that if you enter a URL in the first field (THAT HAS NO LABLE!!!) and select Web APP, that it will launch this URL in a browser on the mobile device.
    Or if you have an APP that is installed on the mobile device you can launch it by specifing the APP name in a special format???
    Again though i am just guessing so PLEASE CAN SOMEONE CLARIFY THIS PLEASE
    Additonal Information
    I think the next information is for Meriden who are Cisco's partner for mobile APP development.
    Enter the location detail in the Location Detail text box. This provides details such as store address, zip code, or street address of the venue.
    Enter the GPS latitude and longitude of the venue in the Latitude and Longitude text box. This helps the applications to identify the venue accurately.
    Enter any other additional information that the venue would like to provide to the mobile application in the Additional Information text box.
    Once you click save the information is applied in MSE.
    So that is the first step in setting up the Mobile Concierge Service.  What i would also like to know is that when you create a venue you ahve to specify a floor plan.  So does this mean that if you have multiple floors that you have to create multiple venues?  Or does it only work for one floor at the moment?
    So over to the experts, can you ANSWER THE MAIN POINTS THAT ARE IN CAPITAL LETTERS ABOVE. I have put them in capital so that they stand out from all of the text.
    Thanks
    mark Julier

  • Where do I find the Integration Services Setup Disk?

    When I connect to my VM and select Insert Integration Services Setup Disk from the Action menu, nothing happens.  Should this be on my my Windows Server 2008 R2 DVD that I used to set yp Hyper-V and my two VMs?
    Thanks

    Again, the Integration Services are ONLY for installation inside a virtual machine.  You aren't gonig to see an option for them unless you're connected to a VM via the Hyper-V management console (the option is under the Action menu.)
    Windows 7 includes the Hyper-V integration components, you may need to upgrade them depending on what service pack levels your Win7 and Hyper-V server are on.
    However, the legacy adapter and integration components aren't dependent upon each other.
    The legacy adapter would be added to your VM before you install an OS in your VM and IC are installed after you finish installing your OS.  With Windows7 you don't need to use the legacy adapter since Windows 7 is a supported OS and Integration
    components are available.
    Also, are you trying to add the legacy adapter while the Windows 7 VM is running or in a saved state? If so, that is the reason it isn't available to install, the VM needs to be powered off.

  • Boot camp services setup failed - Boot camp 3.3 update

    Running Windows 7 Ultimate on a 2008 iMac with boot camp 3.2. When running apple update to install boot camp 3.3, after a reboot I get the following message from the installer: Boot Camp Services Setup Failed.
    Sorry, After I posted I found the answer. I also had a logmein display driver and once uninstalled boot camp 3.3 installed just fine.

    The BC Service is installed for any individual login (whether local or domain-based), which happens only the first time. The BC Driver Installer has no option to install the services for 'All Users'. This is expected behavior.

  • Exchange certificates and services setup for internal and external clients access on separate domains.

    I have the following on my local network.
    Server DomainA -> Small Business server 2003/Exchange 2003
    Server DomainB -> Windows 2008 R2/Exchange 2013
    Clients Domain A ->  Windows XP/Outlook 2003
    Clients Domain B -> Windows 7/Outlook 2007/2010
    Problem:  I want clients from DomainA to log into Exchange on DomainB on the same local network.
    I need to know how to setup the DNS on both domains and the certificates on the DomainB Exchange server
    to accept the connection from the PC on domainA.   All connections from clients on domainB to server on domainB
    work correctly but when adding accounts to Outlook 2003/2007 on domainA clients I am getting certificate errors.
    I have purchased certificates for mail.domainb.com and autodiscover.domainb.com but I dont know how to get
    the clients on domainA to recognize those external URL's of the exchange server (with the certificates bound to them) from the internal network. Hence I get domain errors.
    I am getting issues when a client on DomainA tries to add an Outlook mail profile to connect to the Exchange on DomainB
    Any suggestions on how to set this up?
    thanks

    Domain A & Domain B are two separate AD Forests?
    Users in Domain A either need mailbox-enabled user accounts that are in DomainB or a linked mailbox in Domain B to utilise the Exchange Server in DomainB. In either case with the help of the autodiscover service user can use the services in ExchangeB.
    If the client machines are member of domainA and you are trying to access ExchangeB you will then need to leverage a custom XML file for autodiscover and force the Outlook client to use this file.
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <Autodiscover xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/exchange/autodiscover/responseschema/2006">
      <Response xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/exchange/autodiscover/outlook/responseschema/2006a">
        <Account>
          <AccountType>email</AccountType>
          <Action>redirectUrl</Action>
          <RedirectUrl>https://autodiscover.domain.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml</RedirectUrl>
        </Account>
      </Response>
    </Autodiscover>
    Then you need to configure the client machine to query that XML file by adding the following registry key:
    Refer to XML file
    for Outlook 2007:
    HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Outlook\Autodiscover
    for Outlook 2010:
    HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\Autodiscover
    STRING_value <your_namespace> = path to XML file

  • Mail service setup basics

    Dude!,
    I have been searching and digging for days trying to understand this setup.
    I purchased a mac mini with server software and trying to get mail services to work.
    It should not be this hard! I have set up my dns for my local domain and doubled checked via terminal that my ip matches the name. I have mutiple doamins I would like to revcieve mail from on this server. All my users are the same on each domain. like, [email protected] and [email protected], ect.
    In the general tab of mail services I set the following
    domain name : mydomain.com
    host name : mail.mydomain.com
    in the advanced tab I checked include server daomain as local alias and added my other domain names like
    myother.com
    myother2.com
    I then went to my mail client that I added the local email info,,
    What should I use for the incoming mail?
    Outgoing mail?
    I have looked at mail services user guide, searched through tons of threads, googled everthing from smtp, dns, mail server setup, ect.
    I am able however to manually set up a mail client and all works but that kinda defeats my reasoning of this server.
    Is there a basic guide I can get that maybe clairifies the basic set issues?
    I am sure I am not the only person having these issues?
    Thanks

    It should be this hard. It's actually quite simple once you take the time to ensure you have a fundamental understanding of numerous key concepts. Marketing for 10.6 server aside (a separate & interesting conversation), it's no more Apple's role to educate any would-be server administrator of these fundamentals than it is for Microsoft to do same with their product manuals, or for that matter Sun (Solaris) or RedHat...

  • Filemaker SMTP mail service setup

    I am using Filemaker server on Snow Leopard and need to setup a SMTP server. I need to use SMTP to send emails form the Filemaker server. Does anyone know how to set this up on Snow Leopard for Filemaker server 11.  Really could use the help.....

    You don't need one. Just point it at the SMTP server provided by your service provider -- unless you are doing mass mailings and you rservice provider prohibits that, in which case there's a good chance that they may also block an SMTP server on your local host.
    You can enable the Apple-provided SMTP server (postfix) on your local machine (though keep in mind that your sevice provider might see this as evidence of spamming and block it), simply enough.
    Edit the file /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/org.postfix.master.plist
    The last line of the file is '</dict>'; add this before it:
    <key>RunAtLoad</key> <true/> <key>KeepAlive</key> <true/>
    ... save the file and open Terminal. Type this:
    sudo launchctl start org.postfix.master

  • Virtual Lab: Exploring SQL Server 2012 Integration Services - Setup script fails

    I am trying to work through a Lab, but cannot get past the Setup script stage.
    The lab is "Exploring SQL Server 2012 Integration Services". I have tried this several times (with new lab instances) and the result is always the same.
    I double click the Setup command ... Press 2 ... when the popup dialog appears I press Ok ... the progress bar completes and the messages in the text box seem to indicate everything has completed (last line says "Done"). I click Close as per the
    instructions and then the script moves to the "Configure SQL Server" stage.
    After a short delay a number of error messages appear: "Could not open a connection ... Login / timeout expired" etc - basically it can't find or can't connect to the server.
    I expected these labs to work seamlessly  :)
    Anyone know what's going wrong here?
    Thanks,

  • Automatic service setup with network accounts

    Hi all,
    I'm having terrible trouble getting automatic service (e.g. iCal, iChat, etc.) setup to work with network accounts, either with network home directories or local home directories, and I can't work out what I'm doing wrong.
    When I log in as a local user and join the Network Account Server, all services get set up as expected, without problems. When I log in with a network account however, whether the account has a server-hosted home directory or a local home directory, services aren't automatically set up, I don't get the auto configuration wizard/dialogue, and attempting to join the network account server again fails. Surely there's a way for network accounts to have services automatically set up on initial login? Any ideas?
