Servlet can't open a download window on IE, but open it on FireFox

Hello everyone,
I created a attachment Pdf file by servlet. When I run at simulation, "inline" and “attachment” both worked fine.
However, web application doesn't work on IE, either for "inline" or "attachment".
When I tried Firefox, both work fine!
I am crashed. Is there anyone who have some clues for this situation?
my code:     public void doPost(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse resp)
     throws javax.servlet.ServletException, java.io.IOException
          ByteArrayOutputStream baosPDF = null;
          pdfDocPage=new PdfDocPage(request,resp);//get data
          try
               //get value of parameters from shortcut panel.
               baosPDF = generatePDFDocumentBytes(request, resp, this.getServletContext());
               StringBuffer sbFilename = new StringBuffer();
               sbFilename.append("filename_");
               sbFilename.append(System.currentTimeMillis());
               sbFilename.append(".pdf");
               resp.setHeader("Cache-Control", "must-revalidate");
               resp.setContentType("application/pdf");
               StringBuffer sbContentDispValue = new StringBuffer();
               sbContentDispValue.append("attachment");
               sbContentDispValue.append("; filename=");
               sbContentDispValue.append(sbFilename);
               resp.setHeader("Content-disposition",sbContentDispValue.toString());
               resp.setContentLength(baosPDF.size());
               ServletOutputStream sos;
               sos = resp.getOutputStream();
               baosPDF.writeTo(sos);
               sos.flush();
          catch (DocumentException dex)     {...}
                catch (DbException e) {.....     }
          finally
               if (baosPDF != null)
                    baosPDF.reset();
     @Override
     public void doGet(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse resp)
     throws javax.servlet.ServletException, java.io.IOException
          doPost(request,resp);
     } To create pdf servlet window:com.google.gwt.user.client.Window.open( "PdfService?op=" + para1+ "&para2=" +para2, "_self", ""); Thanks in advance,

Hi paul,
I found out that WSSO blocked the pop-up window first time. if I tried more than one time, it works fine. Now, I putted the application to a different path without WSSO log-in requirement, it works.
Now, I am striving to the WSSO log-in part. Is there any good idea for that though?
By the way, I am a pretty brand new Java programmer. I have so many things to learn...
Thanks for your helps,
Helen

  • How can I hide the downloads window?

    Hi,
    When I download a file the downloads window opens on top of the page I'm viewing. I have to then close it or move it to carry on working on that page. I then go to save another file off the page and the downloads window opens up over the page again. This is flippin' annoying when you're researching and downloading a number of documents off hte same page.
    How can I stop the downloads window opening on top when I download files?
    Any advice much appreciated :-)
    Many thanks!
    Evan

    There is a way, but it may not be supported for ever... If you want the old download manager back, go to about:config, click the I'll be careful, I promise! button. Then search for "download", and set the browser.download.useToolkitUI preference to true (double-click it).

  • Firefox opens up Downloads-window when scanning a barcode

    Hello all!
    Almost every time when I use my usb barcode scanner (Champtek WAND barcode reader) to scan a barcode on an online banking site, Firefox opens up the Downloads-window. So I figure that somehow Firefox thinks that I have pressed CTRL+J - how could I change this behaviour, eg. to completely disable that CTRL+J keyboard shortcut or change it to something else?

    I was having the same problem. The thing is that you have to configure the barcode scanner and not the browser.
    My barcode scanner was typing a CR (carriage return) + LF (line feed) at the end of each scan. I configured it to do only a CR (carriage return) per scan. It's the same as an "Enter" in the browser. After configuring, the browser stopped that CTRL+J behaviour.
    You can read your manufacturer's manual to learn how to change this.

    in Firefox can not see the Downloads window, in the jump in the boot to be seen - the download speed
    Downloaded much and now can not see how to fix it?

    I hate the new downloads-in-a-tab scheme. This was an unnecessary change in my book (if it aint broke, don't "fix it").
    So in order to get it back, I performed the about:config browser.download.useToolkitUI change, but now all I get is a blank download window that pops up every time I download something.
    Is there something else that I need to do? I've checked the change and it was saved, but it didn't resolve my issue as much as it just caused me a new issue.

  • I deleted the profile and firefox4 and then downloaded firefox4 again. But when i click firefox it says Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process,or restart your system.HELP!

    somehow i couldn't get rid of one website called www.searchqu.com/405 set as my homepage... I tried all solutions given to change the homepage but whenever i restarted firefox that homepage used to come automatically.. So, I deleted the profile (even from recycle bin!!) and deleted the firefox and downloaded it again hoping to get my problems fixed (which didn't happen!) because i'm getting dialog box saying- Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system.

    You don't say which operating system you have installed?
    Assuming it's Windows, right click a blank part of the Windows Taskbar and go to Task Manager. Then click the ''Processes ''tab, find '''firefox.exe''' and then right click it and choose '''End Process'''.

    No copy of firefox is running as far as I can tell. Restart and restoring system to 10 days ago did not help.
    Uninstalling and downloading a new copy - but to not avail.

    Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    *Firefox 12.0.x: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
    Uninstall your current Firefox version, if possible.
    *Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because all profile folders will be removed and you will also lose your personal data like bookmarks and passwords from profiles of other Firefox versions.
    Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
    *It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.

    Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

    Hi Pelle,
    Why did you delete your profile? Also how? Did you use the profile manager or did you delete from the windows file structure?
    It sounds like something during the profile delete has stopped Firefox from starting up. Please see the this article and follow the steps:

    Hi Andis.
    First of all, this is completely normal behavior, although it's a bit irritating, I know. What happens is that when you close Firefox, despite the window disappearing right there and then, Firefox keeps running for a little bit until the whole closing procedure is completed. This can take a fraction of a second on fast computers, or can take a few seconds on slow computers or when Firefox is storing a large session (if you save your tabs). All you have to do is wait a bit until Firefox closes, and then open it again.
    To see if it's still running, you can press CTRL+SHIFT+ESC and then, under the Processes tab, you can see if firefox.exe is still there. If it's taking an unusual amount of time to close (which happens very rarely, and only if the browser freezes on exit), you can force the application to terminate from this application (task manager).
    Firefox 4.0 will reduce by 97% the time it takes firefox.exe to close, so this problem will be basically erased for Firefox's next version.
    Until then, I can recommend you this extension, which helps you restart your browser more easily and without bothering about closing times:
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3559/
    Hopefully this will help.
