Servlet connecting to MS SQL

Hi guys....... i am having problems connecting to MS SQL server. I think this may be due to the configuration of the USERID and PASSWORD during the ODBC setting, but after much meddling, it still didnt work. Below is e code i used.
import java.io.*;
import javax.servlet.*;
import javax.servlet.http.*;
import com.internetcds.jdbc.tds.*;
public class sample extends HttpServlet {
public void doGet(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response)
throws IOException, ServletException
try {
System.out.println("Before Class " );
PrintWriter out=null;
Class.forName("com.internetcds.jdbc.tds.Driver");
System.out.println("Before Connection " );
java.sql.Connection Conn = (java.sql.Connection)java.sql.DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:freetds:sqlserver:SQLServer","sa","password");
System.out.println("Before Statement" );
java.sql.PreparedStatement st = (java.sql.PreparedStatement)Conn.prepareStatement("select * from test");
java.sql.ResultSet rs = st.executeQuery();
while(rs.next()) {
System.out.println(rs.getString(1));
} catch(Exception e) {
i haven got any error compiling
but it dun seem to be able to read this line
java.sql.DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:freetds:sqlserver:SQLServer","sa","password");
I dun think i downloaded any driver, but i did download the .jar file for it though
Experts Please advice........ thanx

IMHO you don't have to import the com.internetcds.jdbc.tds.* because you import it via
Class.forName("com.internetcds.jdbc.tds.Driver");.
Please print the stacktrace.
Use
} catch(Exception e) {
e.printStackTrace()
}instead
} catch(Exception e) {
e.printStackTrace()
}and post the error message.
Be sure that the lib from com.internetcds is in a directory from your webserver where it is loaded.

    can you connect to the database without the servlet?
    put your stuff into this and try it. If it works, add something to check the table names. - %

    Hi Karthikeyan,
    This is not the issue at all. I can open the management studio by the same login id and password and also i can make the database jdbc connection from plain java file.
    It does not give me any problem by them.
    I'm unable to find the actual problem. May be i'm missing something in connection pooling.
    Please help.
    Regards
    Mina

  • Connect to Microsoft SQL server 2012

    HI,
    Currently My OSB connects to MS SQL server to get some data and then construct the request to submit to another web service. But recently the SQL server that I connect to has upgraded(previously was MS SQL 2005) to MS SQL to 2012. There are certain properties that needs to be changed in the connection property(for example : ApplicationIntent=ReadOnly) and I am not sure where to change this connection property. I am using sqljdbc4.jar for connectivity. Please advice. This is a bit urgent and appreciate if someone can help me out ASAP.
    After the upgrade I am not able to connect to the SQL server DB as well. This is the error

    Hi All,
    I really appreciate your valuable inputs. My hair about to fall because of this problem
    L
    Tom, thanks, I have gone through that article weeks ago, but no luck
    J
    The Summary:
    I have made a work around to resolve my problem. I have created a new virtual server on the second physical DELL server (with SQL Express 2012).
    The problem seems to be a network issue on the hyper-V virtual switch!!
    More details:
    As described previously, VS connects to SQL service within the same Hyper-V only, although all configuration are right. From any PC within my domain, I can connect to the SQL server on the first Hyper-V service using the ODBC or the connection string file
    (.UDL), BUT not through the “visual studio express 2012 web” !!!!!!!!!
    Now, I can connect from any PC (using visual studio express 2012 web) to any SQL server Express 2012 on the second Hyper-V .
    I have made 4 virtual service on the first hyperV and 4 on the second HyperV. All with the same result:
    VS on PC’s can connect normally to any SQL server on the second HyperV
    VS on PC’s can NOT connect to any SQL server on the first HyperV
    VS on virtual servers on first HyperV can connect normally to any SQL server on the same physical machine/Same hyperV .
    VS on virtual servers on first HyperV can connect normally to any SQL server on the second physical machine/Second hyperV .
    VS on virtual servers on the second HyperV can connect to any SQL server on PC’s or on the second HyperV/Same physical machine.
    VS on virtual servers on the second HyperV can NOT connect SQL servers on the first HyperV
    Long story that last more than one month

  • How to connect to MS SQL server using JSP?

    Hi, i am new to JSP so i would like to know what is the code to create a connection to MS SQL server.
    I am using jakarta-tomcat 4 as my server.
    sorry for any inconvenient....
    pls help me....

    This works to start off with but there are more sophisticated/ different ways of doing things,for instance it's best not to access the db via your jsp, rather do this logic in JavaBeans, Servlets or use Struts.Therefore, it's best that you consult with others and find out which is best way to go about creating your web apps.
    Here's some code:
    In my jsp's I access the bean below , instantiate a statement object and go on from there:
    *SOME of the code in the JSP's.
    //create bean instance
    <jsp:useBean id='dbConn' class='projectsevenhouses.DatabaseConnectionBean ' scope='session' />
    //instantiate statement
    Statement st = dbConn.getConnection().createStatement();
    * JavaBean
    package projectsevenhouses;
    public class DatabaseConnectionBean implements Serializable {
    private Connection conn;
    private Statement st;
    private String dbURL = "jdbc:odbc:datasource";
    private static String driver = "sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver";
    /** Creates a new instance of DatabaseConnectionBean */
    public DatabaseConnectionBean() {
    makeConnection();
    public void setDatabaseName(String dbName) {
    dbURL = dbName;
    private void makeConnection() {
    try {
    Class.forName(driver);
    conn = DriverManager.getConnection(dbURL,"sa","");
    } catch (SQLException e) {
    System.out.println("SQL Cause ->" + e.toString());
    } catch (ClassNotFoundException cnf) {
    System.out.println("Class Not Found:" + cnf);
    public Connection getConnection() {
    if (conn == null) {
    makeConnection();
    return conn;
    public void setCloseConnection(boolean close) {
    if (close) {
    try {
    conn.close();
    } catch (Exception e) {
    conn = null;
    Hope it gives u an idea...

  • "Application Error" on Portal Connecting to MS SQL

    Hello together,...
    i'm very new to the SAP Portal.
    I have build an application that uses the BI-JDBC Connector to connect to an MS SQL-Server. I have also build an application with VC that reads a tbale of the Database. These parts are working perfectly.
    Now i have tried to build an iView that allows to change an entry in the Database. When i send the SQL Statement i get a pop-up Message:
    TITLE: "Applicatione Error"
    Message: "null"
    Now the strange thing about this is, that the changes were actually made in the database, even though the error occurs.
    The Problem must be the SQL Statement i've used. To prevent errors in this, i post the SQL Statement at this point:
    "UPDATE Lieferanten SET Firma = '"&@Firma&"', Strasse = '"&@Strasse&"', Ort = '"&@Ort&"', Plz = '"&@Plz&"' WHERE Lieferantennummer = '"&@Lieferantennummer&"'"
    Has anyone a small hint for me, how i can fix this Problem?

    Is there a driver available to connect to MS SQL Server from a java application or servlet running on UNIX or Linux box? Quite probably. Go here to find out:
    http://industry.java.sun.com/products/jdbc/drivers
    Is there a way to create ODBC connection to it on UNIX?I've heard something about a Unix ODBC simulator, but I wouldn't bother with that. ODBC is not necessary in this situation.

    Connection con = null;
    try
    con = (Connection) DriverManager.getConnection(url, user, password);
    catch (SQLException ex1)
    msg += ex1;
    }

    I've to deploy it in the same place of .class ?No, you should create a war (or ear) file, and place the driver jar in the correct location of that file.

  • How do I create a connection string to sql server?

    Hi All,
       I am currently connecting to a SQL Server via ODBC DSN connection. I am wondering how do I create a connection string directly to a sql server without a DSN connection?
    Thank you in advance.

    If you have SQL Server or client installed in your machine you can directly connect to SQL server using native connection. When you create new report you can see the option create new connection, here you can see SQL Server. Expand it and enter the connection details where you will be directly connected to SQL Server without ODBC connection.

  • Connect RD Connection Broker to SQL

    Hello I'm not being able to install RD Connection Broker with High Availability.
    The RDS deployment consists on two servers running win2012
    server1 - RDWA and RDG
    server2 - RDSH and RDCB
    The SQL server 2012 that I'm using is installed on server2 itself and had to be installed after the RDS otherwise the SQL installation failed and had to be done using the RD-install. It's working fine , I've applications that run on it.
    As when configuring RDCB HA "both" RDCB hosts access directly to the SQL DB to create a new database, their accounts need to be authenticated as a SQL login with dbcreator role.
    1 step: I checked a straight forward installation_
    Installing and Configuring RD Connection Broker High Availability in Windows Server 2012
    Failed
    2 step: I checked an installation where my problem happened.
    I checked RD Connection Broker HA – SQL Permissions
    Added the host to a domain group and added the group as an SQL login, SQL authentication failed.
    4 step: Google for how to create SQL login for a computer account and  I added it by executing:
    “CREATE LOGIN [MyDomain\MyComputer$]
    FROM WINDOWS”
    Also tried to use Add-ADcomputerServiceAccount without success.
    3 step: I ended here
    Taking a closer look at RD Connection Broker High Availability in Windows
    Server 2012
    Where I verified that none of the following explanations were correct:
    The SQL Server Native client is not installed
    A firewall is blocking SQL Access from the RD Connection Broker (port 1433)
    The incorrect SQL Server Native Client version is specified
    An incorrect SQL Server name is specified
    I tried several variations of the string to use but this is the one I think it's correct:
    DRIVER=SQL Server Native Client 11.0;SERVER=WIN2012-1;Trusted_Connection=Yes;APP=Remote Desktop Services Connection Broker;Database=RDCB
    The error registered on SQL is:
    "Message
    Login failed for user 'RDS\WIN2012-1$'. Reason: Could not find a login matching the name provided. [CLIENT: <local machine>]"
    I tried to connect via ODBC with an existing username an it succeeded.
    The problem seems to be with the computer account not existing as an SQL login...the thing is that it exists.
    I need to set this up in order to be able to change the RDCB FQDN to a public FQDN.
    How were you guys able to overcome this? Did you faced this at all?
    Thanks,
    David

    Guys,
    I suffered with a very similar problem when setting up an RDS 2012 environment using SQL Server 2014 sitting on a server core VM, and two connection brokers sitting on server core OS as well.
    My SQL logs were filling with with login failed for the connection brokers computer account even though I had configured the SQL permissions correctly.
    In the end it was Arjan's post above that got me fixed, rebooting the connection broker VMs. Really annoying, as I let AD propagate over night, just in case that was the issue. After simply rebooting the connection brokers, this worked. For anyone who needs
    it, my SQL databases are stored on a separate D: drive and I used the string below:
    DRIVER=SQL Server Native Client 11.0;SERVER=<SQL Server Name>;Trusted_Connection=Yes;APP=Remote Desktop Services Connection Broker;DATABASE=<DB Name>.
    Hope this helps someone else.

  • Local Network Connection Problem with SQL Server 2008 R2

    Hi,
    I have CRM application which uses SQL server 2008. Weird thing is that I have no problems connecting from client machines to the server when using a particular router (via LAN) and when I upgrade the firmware of the same router (A common open source firmware
    which is used by many also works perfect apart from mentioned problem) and restart the server, the connection cannot be established. I get Error 40.
    When i downgrade the firmware and restart the server, the connection works again.
    Please note that I am absolutely not touching any configuration of the server. Also the CRM software allows remote connections from public IPs which this feature works fine with both downgraded and upgraded firmwares.
    As for my understanding, the routers do not block ports in LAN connections. So how can I diagnose the reason for this connection problem?

    Hi Leony83,
    Please also help to check Windows Event Log information regarding this issue, so that we can do further investigation. In additin, here is the general steps to troubleshoot SQL Server Error 40 issue. Please see:

  • Error message when trying to connect to a SQL Server Database

    All:
    I get the following message when I try to connect to a SQL Server Database within a form:
    "Connection for Source DataConnection failed because the environment is not trusted"
    Can anyone help me solve this problem?
    Thanks,
    BR

    Hi Brian,
    In Acrobat, security concerns dictate that you cannot specify an ODBC connection string by using the Driver=; syntax. Therefore, the client computer using the form needs to have a DSN pre-configured for ODBC connections.
