Hi Dinesh,
If you have a WAR inside an EAR then following thing in "*application.xml*” file inside “META-INF” directory
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<application xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" version="1.4">
<module>
    <web>
       <web-uri>SimpleActionWebApp</web-uri>
       <context-root>EARRoot</context-root>
   </web>
</module>
</application>For more information go through the below link

  • How to set a new attribute in th Servlet Context from an external app.

    Hi,
    I need to do an external application that can access to the servlet context to recover/modify some attributes. Anybody know how can I do it?.
    I've revised some mBeans thinking that they can serve me the servlet context, but I have not viewed anything related.
    Best Regards
    Antonio

    I'd say your best bet is adding another servlet and mapping to your application that presents a REST interface to this information. You could return application-scope data in a small XML document, and you could send attribute names and values with request parameters.
    It's not practical to dynamically change the actual init-params of the servlet context.

  • How can I get the servlet Context from a WebService Implementation?

    I have made a webservice endpoint, using the conventional way (WSDL->wsimport->Java interface->implementation) . I need to get the servlet context below the implementation class. I haven't found any way to get the servletContext though. Any clues? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

  • WLS 8.1, SP1 - Weblogic does not detect my servlet class has changed

              I've come across this problem in weblogic 7.0 sp2 and 8.1 sp1 and never found the
              solution. I've asked for solution in BEA's newsgroups and official support and
              NEVER received any suitable answer. I've found other people's quesions regarding
              this problem and they didn't found an answer either. I can't believe this is not
              happenning to more people and there is not solution!!!!!!
              Sometimes (don't know when or why) when we copy our servlets developed with JBuilder
              (6, 7 or 9) or javac and ant, into our exploded archive directory application,
              weblogic does not detect the change, and it serves the the servlet's old version.
              Of course, that servlet is not included in any classpath, and even if we delete
              the class file, it still executes the old version. We even delete the .wlnotdelete
              folder under our server, temp, etc. restart the machine, etc. and it does not
              load the updated servlet.
              The only solution is to change servlet's name and the reference in our web.xml.
              That's the moment that weblogic detects changes, but, for so long? Sooner or later,
              the problem appear again... or not. WHY!!??!! What should we change/delete or
              whatever for our new servlet to be updated?
              How can I force weblogic to register again as new servlets ALL my servlets?
              Now it's even happening to a class used in a very simple tag library. CAN'T BELEIVE
              IT!!!!
              It happens in NT 4.0 and W2K Prof. It happened in Weblogic 7.0 sp2 and now in
              Weblogic 8.1 sp1. It never happened in Weblogic 5.1 sp10.
              Looking forward to hearing a solution for this.

              I too am looking for this answer.
              I did notice that the BEA Docs mention that the compiled file needs to be in WEB-INF/classes,
              and mine is in WEB-INF/lib. However, ALL the .jar files are in the LIB directory.
              My jar file is never found when it's in the classes dir....
              Please let me know if you find the solution.

  • How to set the servlet context path manually in Tomcat web server.

    I tested some servlets by putting them in the folder , which the tomcats examples application uses (ie Tomcat 4.1\webapps\examples\WEB-INF\classes\) and it appeared to be working fine.
    I was calling the servlet like this : http://localhost:2006/examples/servlet/TestServlet
    But when I installed my own WAR file in the server , the servlet is not working now. now the new location of my servlets is : Tomcat 4.1\webapps\MyApp\WEB-INF\classes\
    and I'm trying to call the servlet like this : http://localhost:2006/MyApp/servlet/TestServlet
    The error , what i'm getting is :
    description :The requested resource (/MyApp/servlet/TestServlet) is not available.
    Some body please tell where I'm making the mistake ? I believe this may have something to do with the servlet context path setting. If anybody has any idea , how to set the path..will be much appreciated.

    Thanx for your reply , at first I was not using any web.xml(since not mandatory) but even after using the web.xml file the error is coming . Please have a look into the contents of the web.xml file and let me know if you find any problem...

    </servlet>
    </web-app>
    one more thing I would like to tell you here. I was just looking into the configuration of Iplanet web server..I found that , there are options to set the servlet container path (like : - Prefix: /servlet
    Servlet Directory: /ecomm/iplanet/nes60/product/docs/container )
    so from here I came to know that "container " is the folder where we should put our servlets and it has URI as "servlet" but yet I'm not able to find any option in the Tomcat Web server to set the servlet container to any different directory.
    If you have any idea please let me know.

  • Handling table name changes

    Hi,
    Because of a change in naming convention, all our source table names are changing (only the prefix: The rest of the name and the table structures will remain the same). We already have developed a significant number of OWB mappings based on the old naming convention. What is the OWB equivalent of doing a global search replace of table names ? Is there a script available for doing this ?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Biswa.

    The name changing part should be relatively simple to handle. I have included a script that should do the renaming with the prefix 'WH_'. The reconcile will have to be done by you. The script should go something like this (please test your scripts in a test environment as I will not provide support for this).

  • Servlet Context in a Nutshell??????

    I am a newcomer to Servlets and relatively new to Java. I have not found a very clear explanation of what a servlet "Context" is and can therefore only assume that its so simple as to not need further explanation.
    Here goes;
    1. You write your Servlet code, compile it.
    2. If you add this Servlet to the classes directory of a web-app called "MyWebApp" then the context for that particular servlet is "/MyWebApp"
    3. Adding it to the classes directory of other web apps gives a different "context" for each one.
    4. You can add a servlet to a web-app ("context") by adding the servlet URI to the deployment descriptor of the web-app????????(THis one I am really not sure of)
    Summary: The context of a particular servlet is the name of the particular web-app within which it resides or is referred to
    Maybe some of you experts out there could shed some light on this and I could create a document explaing context a post it on the web sowmwhere for other poor beginners like myself.
    Thanks in advance.

    Well, some experts will wanna kill me for told that, but, lets go....
    Comparing with the JVM, a context is like a class path (of course they have many differences). In other worlds the context is a directory (or war file) where the web server (for example TOMCAT) wiil search your .class files (or.war, .jar, etc...)
    All context are "pointed" to a dir, for example you can point the context /myapps to a dir of your OS (for example /home/your_username or in a windows system - C:\Program Files.
    Then when you acces this context at the browser, the browser will show this directory hierarchy. For you execute your servlet you need to create a WSDL (the descritor file). This file is nothing more than a XML document (that had rules) and link a servlet at a context, (for example the servlet Hello can pointed to the path /hello, and then, this servlet is "install" at the context /myapps). After this, you can access your servlet at the path http://computer_address/myapps/hello.
    Note: Step by step, you need:
    1) create the web application strucuture directory (the WEB-INF, classes, etc...)
    2) write the servlet
    3) write the web.xml
    4) compile the servlet
    5) create a context - point the context to the web app structure "father"
    6) install this servlet at the context
    7) access the servlet
    I hope this help you to understand some things, but for learning I recomended the Tomcat manual!!!! Good Luck.

  • Exact functions of Servlet context and servlet Config inside web container

    What is the correct(exact) function in the Servlet Context and Servlet Config inside the Web Container?.
    Pls anybody response me.
    -- Palani

    ServletConfig:
    The container reads the servlet init-parameters specified in web.xml then adds them to ServletConfig. The container then passes ServletConfig to the servlet. Thereafter, the servlet can access the ServletConfig and get the servlet init-parameters. The idea is that you can avoid hard coding data that might change in your servlet code, e.g. an email address. If the email address changes, you can change it in web.xml instead of having to hunt through all your code and change the email address every place it appears and then recompiling the servlet.
    Servlet init-parameters in web.xml are targeted for one servlet.
    ServletContext:
    The ServletContext is an app wide bulletin board where you can post data. Other parts of your app, e.g. other servlets, can then read the data on the bulletin board.
    Also, similar to ServeltConfig, the container reads context-init parameters from web.xml and inserts them into ServletContext. However, in this case they are inserted into an app wide bulletin board, and therefore all servlets can read them.
    An example: you might put database connection info in some context-init parameters. Then when the ServletContext is created, you can have "a listener" respond to the ServletContext creation event and get the database info, create a database connection, and attach it to the ServletContext. Then the database connection will be available to any servlet that needs it.
    palanithendral wrote:

    The exact function of each would be determined by the group of methods each one provides. You need to check the java docs to see what each method does.

  • Question abt servlet contexts

    Hello Everybody,
    I have this directory structure webapps/test and webapps/test1
    Would there be one servlet context for both test and test1 or seperate two servlet contexts for test1 and test2.
    In a distributed environment when there are two servlet contexts running on different jvms how do they communicate.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Rojar,
    There is one servlet context for every web application, because there is a one-to-one relationship between the two. Remember that in the deployment descriptor you specify the name of the web-app as the root node.
    Two servlets in the same servlet context/web application can communicate via the servlet context attributes, whereas two servlets in different web applications must communicate by other means, e.g. by access to the same database or via sockets/http like in Sun Game Server.
    Hope this helps you.

  • Difference between application context and servlet context

    HI,
    what are the differences between an application context and a servlet context?
    Also can any body elaborate on context path and servlet path. To quote servlet spec:
    Context path: The path prefix associated with the ServletContext that this
    servlet is a part of.
    Servlet Path: The path section that directly corresponds to the mapping
    which activated this request.Thanks in advance.

    Application context and Servlet Context are pretty much interchangeable terms IIRC.
    ContextPath == name of your web application
    ServletPath == path to the servlet
    Given http://localhost:8080/myWebApp/myServlet
    contextPath == myWebApp
    servletPath == myServlet
    A jsp to help you understand this:
    Working with server: <%= application.getServerInfo() %><br>
    Servlet Specification: <%= application.getMajorVersion() %>.<%= application.getMinorVersion() %> <br>

    Looks bad. I would strongly advise backing up the stuff on the other two partitions as soon as possible in case the rest of the drive goes wrong.
    Beyond that, Disk Utility has limited abilities to repair disks, DiskWarrior uses a different approach and might, emphasis might be more successful. It has certainly done the job for me in the past when Disk Utility could not.

    Please read my question carefully, this is, I think, a question for the experts. It's not the usual name change question.
    When I setup my new MacBook Pro, something slipped by me and my computer was named First-Lasts-MacBook-Pro (using my real first and last name).
    I changed the computer name in Preferences/Sharing to a new name and Preferences/Accounts to just be Mike. I can right click on my account name, choose advanced, and see that everything looks right.
    However, If I do a scan of my network with my iPhone using the free version of IP Scanner, it lists my computer as First-Lasts-MacBook-Pro! And it lists the user as First-Last.
    So even though another Mac just sees my new computer name, and my home folder is Mike, somewhere in the system the original setup with my full name is still stored. And it's available on a network scan. So my full name might show up at a coffee shop.
    Can I fully change the name without doing a complete re-install of Lion and all my apps?

    One thought... you said the iPhone displayed your computer's old name? I think that you must have used the iPhone with this computer before you changed the name. So no one else's iPhone should display your full name unless that iPhone had previously connected to your Mac. For example, I did this exact same change, and I use the Keynote Remote app to connect with my MacBook Pro. It would no longer link with my MacBook Pro under the old name, and I found that I had to unlink and then create a new link under the new name. So the answer to your question is, there is nothing you need to do on the Mac, but rather the phone, and no other phone will display your full name.

  • Batch rename, name changes after frame 99

    Hi, I put a folder into bridge to do a batch rename and called the text MILAN/SYRIA and gave for first number 00.
    After frame 99 the name changed to a weird  Adobe Bridge Batch Rename Temp 10037
    Which you can see better in the RAW windows, the 99 and the following one.
    Photoshop doesn't like to open a name like that, can't blame her.
    of course I strongly suppose that I should have given 3 digits in Batch rename, and l am looking for your confirmation, and while I am here
    why was my card full at 0485 pictures when a folder I think takes as many as 9999, how do you finish a folder if your card is full?
    i suppose you change card and you keep going with the same folder? Sorry about the camera question, couldn't keep it, thanks dona

    no,no, i started with 00 two digits only, batch rename changed to 623  after i put the folder back in just in order to take the screenshot, i dont know why but that always happens if i put the folder back in after usage, but i do know for life now that if I am going to take over 100 shots, which is most of the time, i should start with 001 or 000.
    See, this is the first number that was given to the first file,  01,WHICH actually became  00, i don't have it here.
    So it rest to know where is "Preserve file name " in current metadata, and would that make it possible  to revert to the original CR2 number?
    Why not to change name straight from the new name? thanks
