Servlet Deploy in Eclipse

When i click on properpties--->Run Package of perticular project which contains servlet class i am getting
following Exception, How to slove it.
Buildfile: D:\workspace\helloworld\packaging-build.xml
BUILD FAILED: Unable to load default ProjectHelper due to java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/xml/sax/SAXParseException
Total time: 125 milliseconds
Thankyou.

I had this problem. I was running the Ant Build under JDK 1.3.1 when I thought it was running under JDK 1.4.2. Remember that JDK 1.3.1 doesn't include the XML APIs.
To fix, open up the Run, Debug or External Tools configuration that you're having problems with. Then click on the "JRE" tab. From here you can change the Java Runtime that the process is running under.
Alternatively, if you really want to run under JDK 1.3.1, add xml-apis and xerces jars to the classpath using this interface.

    what is the plugin used for jsp/servlet development ,
    deployment in eclipse?There are several J2EE plugins I think. One is Lomboz.
    can some body tell me what are the other plugins to
    be used in enterprise java developementPfft...
    1) Might depend on what you're doing. J2EE is not just JSP, you know?
    2) Why do you ask about Eclipse IDE at Sun's Java Programming forum?
    3) Do you really want me to list the 5000 plug-ins someone might use for J2EE-related development?
    4) Open fucking Google and search yourself
    is eclipse would be a best choice j2ee application
    development?IMO: no. Simply because you have to look for J2EE plugins. I'm too lazy for that. Though it has other benefits that might outweigh the plug-in-searching issue.

  • Servlet deployment on iAS

    Hi all,
    I have been trying to deploy a servlet to iAS. I have done following steps:
    1) Created jar with the class files of http servlet/ dbservlet
    2) copied it to ..\iAS\Apache\Jserv\servlets
    3) Tried to call the simple http servlet http://koivu.fincosta.com/servlets/test1.Servlet1 or http://koivu.fincosta.com/servlet/test1.Servlet1
    and get http 404 error (page not found)
    I have tried also to define a wrapper.classpath in the jserv.properties for the jar.
    The JD's on-line manual is really confusing on this matter and haven't seen any example on OTN either.
    I would be very gratefull if somebody could tell me the steps for correct servlet deployment for iAS.
    Best regards,

    sigh
    google: "eclipse war". First result:
    http://www.java-tips.org/other-api-tips/eclipse/how-to-make-war-file-in-eclipse.html
    I don't know if this applies to your version of Eclipse, but I hope you get the idea that a knowledge problem is not a valid reason to post in a forum; you do a google query in stead. It is the difference between being lazy and passing the problem to someone else, or being a proper developer and doing some research.

  • Servlet program in eclipse

    hi all,
    i write simple hello servlet program in eclipse...
    but compiler tells " javax.servle.* " cannot be resolved...
    plz clarify how to run servlet program in eclipse as a tomcat webserver....
    import java.io.*;
    import javax.servlet.*;
    public class helloservlet extends GenericServlet{
         public void service(ServletRequest request, ServletResponse response) throws ServletException, IOException
         response.setContextType("text/html");
         PrintWriter pw= response.getWriter();
         pw.println("hello servlet");
         pw.close();
    }regards
    machepalli

    hi,
    if you are using tomcat 5.5 server use jdk1.5 and if you use tomcat 5.0 use jdk1.4 then compatability adjust.And jar files to library go to tomcat-home ->common->lib->Servelet-api.jar file to your java program library.....
    And better to use myeclipse1.4 instead of eclipse ... bcoz sometimes it requires plugins to avoid that use myelipse1.4 ......

  • How to access contextRoot in Servlet deployed in an ear in Weblogic 81

    Hi,
    I need to access the contextRoot or webapp name from a startup servlet deployed in WebLogic. I've tried the following;
    getServletContext().getRealPath("/") return null.
    getServletContext().getServerInfo() returns Weblogic 8.1 service pack 3...
    getServletContext().getServletContextName() display the <display-name> value from my web.xml.
    What I want is the <context-root> value in the EARs application.xml.
    I tried the following JNDI lookup and the lookup failed but the error message contained the contextRoot.
    String name = (String) jndiContext.lookup("java:/comp/env/namespace");
    log.info("jndiContextlookup namespace = "+name);
    Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. This should be easy!!

    Hi VR
    From Weblogic Admin Console, Deployments, on right side click on the link named with your EAR Application. It opens detailed page with more tabs. Click on the tab named Targets. Here select your WebService module and click on Change Targets button. Uncheck the server where it is targetted (Deployed), click on Yes. And activate the changes.

    For WLS 10.3, I think that Kodo is the default JPA provider unless you apply a patch for EclipseLink/TopLink. Perhaps the WLS environments have installed different patches?
    See the comment in this blog: http://msikora.typepad.com/michael_sikora_on_java_ee/2008/10/converting-to-weblogic-103---part-2.html
    I think that it is a public patch when you run Smart Update.
    There's also a detailed explanation here of the classpath options:
    http://wiki.eclipse.org/EclipseLink/Examples/JPA/WebLogic_Web_Tutorial
    You may also get some help in the JPA forum:

  • Error while running a Servlet program in Eclipse IDE

    Hi,
    I have tried running the following program in the Eclipse Editor. It doesnt compile. I have installed the Tomcat plugin too.

              PrintWriter output;
              response.setContentTe("text/html");
              output=response.getWriter();

              buf.append("</BODY></HTML>");
              out.println(buf.toString());

    On a closer look i realized that the IDE is showing as error any import statements i type in. Can anyone help me get over this problem? Thanks a lot in advance.

    You need to add the JAR containing the servlet API in the external JARs for the project.

    Carol.

    Hello Kostas
    Thanks a lot for your help and hints! I am running Windows 7 64 Bit
    I had Java 8, once with Release 20 and once with Release 25, installed - and thought that I pointed all to the newest version.
    What helped in the end was to
    - deinstall all Javas
    - reboot
    - installed newest JDK, without the "Public JRE"
    - reboot
    - set JAVA_HOME and appended the Java-bin-dir to the path-Variable
    - reboot
    - installed a fresh version of Glassfish
    - configured a new Glassfish-Server on Eclipse
    -> and now it runs perfectly!
    Thanks again for your work and hints!

    Atlast it worked. The problem was that in my ejb-jar.xml I was referring to 2_0.dtd. I have changed that to 2.1 and it worked.
    Older ejb-jar.xml had:
    <!DOCTYPE ejb-jar PUBLIC "-//Sun Microsystems, Inc.//DTD Enterprise JavaBeans 2.0//EN" "C:/jboss-4.0.1sp1/docs/dtd/ejb-jar_2_0.dtd">
    I changed that to:
    <ejb-jar xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee" version="2.1" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee/ejb-jar_2_1.xsd">
    And it worked.
