Set a door open alarm

This is our first time using Lookout. I am hoping to get a little help on getting started. In our first example, we have a communication tower that has several alarms attached to that tower. The radio within in the tower basically opens and closes circuits to send alarms to the dispatch center. One such alarm is if the door opens it sends an alarm to the dispatch center. There are 5 other such alarms related with that tower. I am looking for help in setting up the object and the corresponding alarms. Any help is greatly appreciated.

What type of communication do you have between the tower and Lookout? You will have to establish some form of driver first.

It is asking to set any error code. But I am not sure what error code returns if both Jboss servers are down.
But URL returns 'Gateway Timed Out' when hitted during jboss down.
Could you guide me in this situation with which code should I map this?

How best to halt an execution when the emergency stop is pressed or the door opens with TestStand?

Hi all,
I am creating a test set that needs to be halted when the emergency button is pressed or the door is opened (note: data about the door open status is read in via a door latch using a PXI-6514). The way that the sequence is going to be structured is that each test (approx. 11 tests) is going to be a step in a TestStand sequence. The steps that are going to run the tests are going to be of type Pass/Fail. These steps will call a DLL written in C# that will perform one entire test.
What I want to do is for some tests when the door opens, the step in the sequence is aborted and then when the door is closed the step is rerun. However, for a few tests the door needs to be opened for the operator to make changes and then once the operator closes it again then that test should continue testing.
As I am new to both TestStand and development of test equipment, I am unsure which method is better:
Method 1:
Let TestStand handle the door opening, thus TestStand would need to know which test to halt and which to abort. I don't know which callbacks are required to do this.
Method 2:
Let each DLL handle the software trigger that the PXI-6514 "throws" when the door opens. This would mean that for each test you can either halt it until the door close. Or for the necessary test you can abort the execution of that test by shutting in a safe manner and returning a bit to TestStand, which indicates that the test was aborted. Then is there a callback that will rerun the step or will I just use Goto statements.
Is there another method that would be more appropriate to use?

Hi Elnaz,
I have faced a very similar issue before. The best option is to have your code modules handle the signal. So when a test when someone open the doots, you code modules should be able to keep up that signal and be able to act on it. So essentially your code modules should have some sort of a signal handler that automatically executes code to halt the code module when it receives the external signal. You have to pass a parameter back into teststand informing that an external signal was received by the code modules. So you can use Post Actions for this. Every step in TestStand has Post Action in the Step Properties. So you can change the execution flow based on the parameter passed in.
For example, if your code module received the external signal then it will pass a flag. In your post Actions based on this flag you can either goto a differnt step or you can jump back to your current step, thus re-running itself.

When I am connected with Firefox I am hearing a background sound of a door opening and closing.

Starting about one month ago I have been hearing a background sound of a door opening or closing. When opening, it is the sound of a latch turning and then a creaking door sound, and when closing it is the sound of a slamming latch.It is intermittent, ocurring every 5-10 minutes or so when connected with Firefox. There is no apparent problem associated with sounds, I'm just wondering why it's happening and what it might mean.

I get the sound of a door opening then closing at different times. It sounds like it signals when someone is getting online and when they leave. What is this and how do I turn it off or find out who it is?

That sounds like an AOL feature. If you have AOL on line, Shut it off!

I just spent several hours dealing with this when switching to a new PC. It was extremely frustrating as I knew my files were on my external HD but no matter how many times I copied my old iTunes folder over the files were still missing...because dummy me had forgotten to "unhide folders" on my new PC and my old files were actually stored in a hidden folder created long long ago.
This is how I did it on Windows 7 with iTunes 10
1. Look in iTunes Advanced Preferences to see where iTunes is saving files. (Edit, Preferences, Advanced)
Example: C:/Users/Woildbill/My Music/iTunes/Music
2. Ensure you are able to see hidden files - Control Panel, Folder Option, View, Show Hidden Files
3. Use Your Computer's Search Function to Locate the Missing File (Start, Search, type name of song - I started my search in "My Music" folder but be sure to expand to entire Computer if not found right away)
4. In Search Results, right-click found folder and select properties. This will tell you where the file is actually stored.
5. Use Windows Explorer (right-click start) to navigate to the location of the file. It is likley your other missing files are in the same location.
6. In Windows Explorer, copy the newly located files to the iTumes location from Step 1 and everything should work again.

J6480 Ink Cartridge Door Hinges Broke. Door Open error message won't let me print. What can I do?

Have always been very careful with cartridge & scanner doors. Pressing OK doesn't remove error message. Broken hinges will no longer go down, so Door Open message won't go away and preventing printing.

The problem is the spring tension used to hold the cover open is stronger than the poorly designed weak hinges.
The way I solved it was to break both the hinges, (pretty easy to do just open and close the cover a few times), lift the cover up being carefull not to break the ribbon cable (wires) from the cover to the base. Then I pryed out the lower spring plates, these are located in the hinge assembly of the printer and removed the black plastic plunger and the large springs below it from both hinges. The cover wil now stay closed and allow you to print. You just have to be careful when changing the print cartridges as the cover can open too far now and possibly break the wires going to the top cover.

We have a 1 and 1/2 year old HP Officejet Pro L7590 all-in-one . "Door Open" message would not go away even if all the doors are intact, or after we shut it down and turn it back on after 60 seconds. We could not print, fax nor copy. We talked to HP customer service which no longer support this series. How can we bring our printer back to work?

There are at least three interlock switches that can cause this error. One is on the door that covers the ink cartridges, one is on the top lid (covering the "guts" of the printer) you lift up to service the printheads and the third is on the back duplexer; if you don't have a duplexer, there should be a cover in place. You'll need to check all three to be sure they're in working order.
I know the door covering the ink cartridges has a tendency to break off the little tab that keeps the door closed so that would be the first one I'd check. The top lid that covers the "guts" of the printer also has a small tab that goes into a hole that activates an interlock switch. If that tab is broken off, the switch does not get closed, giving you the error message you see. I've seen this broken off also, usually from closing the cover when misaligned with the receiving hole. If this one is missing, you can ball up a small piece of paper and shove it in the hole to activate the interlock switch.
The 7590 is a great printer. Much better built than the newer models and cheap to operate, IMO. Hope you can get it working again.

HP 1410 All in One Door Open Error

A friend gave me his HP 1410 All in One printer a while back, so I installed all the drivers to my Windows 7 Home Premiuim Sony Laptop. The Scanner works just fine, but when I attempt to print a document, files pile up in the queue with an error to the side, Door Open. I've closed the door, but still get this error. When I open it, the ink container centers, and when I close it, it goes back to one side of the printer, but the error remains. I've restarted the printer but the error remains. Is it a broken part, or is there a way to bypass the door check?

I’ve been using this for a few years and settled on the somewhat more flexible approach… As you mentioned, Bridge offers an explicit command to open a JPEG or TIFF in Camera Raw, which I do, but then with a press of Shift I can open that JPEG as a smart object and revisit CR controls for further adjustment at any time later in the process.

FILES: how do I get rid of EXEC status and set them to open with "none"?

I dropped my laptop and damaged the drive. My computer forensic friend salvaged specific files.
Transfered to a FAT32 drive and then copied to Mac.
Most of files are fine with the exception of some setings files that showed up as Unix executables. The few original files that I have to compare them to, show "Document" as the file "Kind" and the "open with" shows "none" in Get Info
When I look at the contents of the files they look fine. How do I get rid of the EXEC status and set them to open with "none"?

These are settings files for a set of .wav samples for an AU drum plug-in.

If you have xcode installed, you might want to find out what the type and creator code for these files should be. Since the files have visited a FAT32 file sytem, you will have lost all resource forks as well as type and creator HFS+ meta data.
So assuming you do have xcode, create a new AU drum plug-in file then in the terminal:
