Set cursor in Control String component

Hello:
I would like to set cursor in "Control String" automatically when I open my VI. If I open my VI, cursor should be seen automatically in the text field of "Control String". The user hasn`t set cursor by mouse into this field. Has anybody an idea how can I do?

In a .vi I'm wrighting I need to input a new serail number at the beginning of each run. Is there a way to force the cursor into the string control box every time the start screen returns? eliminating the need for the operator to move the mouse around and click.

How to set cursor in table control?

I have a table control (Screen 300) to display invoice number and amount. For some checks we have around 200 invoices to be displayed. When user enters the invoice number in invoice text box and click on OK, it should highlight the invoice number and amount row or set the cursor position.
I have another problem.
Screen 300 is being called from Screen 200. When the user clicks on OK in 300, 300 is getting closed. Acutally it should be displayed with Cusor position or highlighted row.

I believe that you can use the SET CURSOR statement to do the first part of your requirement. Something like this should work:
SET CURSOR FIELD w_field LINE w_line.
Here's the info from SAP help:
Effect
: The cursor is positioned on the screen element whose name is contained in upper case in field. The data object field must be character-type and flat. The screen layout or a table control is scrolled in the display so that the screen element on which the cursor is positioned is visible. If the specified screen element is not found, the statement is ignored.
If the specified screen element is part of a table control or a step loop, the line of the table control or group of the step loop in which the cursor is positioned on the specified screen element must be specified using the addition LINE. For the data object line, the type i is expected. If there is no line or group for the value of line, or the addition LINE is not specified, the statement is ignored. The statement is also ignored if the addition LINE is specified and the screen element is not part of a table control or step loop.

Set cursor on table control not working

Hi,
I have a screen with delivery number field on top with Get Data Button next to it. Once I click on Get Data, I want to get all the handling units and show them in a table control below and show the first line of that table control selected by default.
I m able to get the data but the cursor always goes back to the delivery number field.
I have the following code in PBO
Status & title for the screen
MODULE status_0100.
And in the module, the last lines are as follows
if sy-ucomm = 'GET'.
    s_vepo-sel = c_x.
    set cursor field 'TABLE1' line 1. "TABLE1 is name of the table control in screen
                                                  "painter
endif.
I debugged and saw that the line " set cursor field 'TABLE1' line 1." is indeed the last line which gets executed but still the cursor goes back to delivery number field and table row doesnt get selected.

Try maintaining the "Cursor position" in the screen layout in Attributes tab with the field name that you want the default cursor position to be present.

I have made a Z Table Control where i have given vertical and horizontal scrolling . Now when I scroll and try to select a row, then ZTABLE_CONTROL-CURRENT_LINE fetches line number not from the top, it fetches from the current top of ztablecontrol.
It is onlyy changing the value on scrolling, if i do not scroll table control then value is coming correct.
My requirement is whenever i select any row of ZTABLE CONTROL i need to get the curent line number from top. Please guide me what should i do.

How to set cursor at the first line in a table control?

Hi,
I have a customized infotype screen where a table control is being used to input new values.The tab control has 30 lines.Now, the problem is that when the screen is displayed, the cursor always starts at 8th or 4th line.The behaviour is not very consistent.I tried the following statement in the PBO, but no effect.
SET CURSOR FIELD P9417-ZCOUNTRY LINE 1. ( P9417-ZCOUNTRY is the name of the tab control field where i want to set the cursor ).This is the last statement in the PBO.
Can someone please tell me why still I am not able to set the cursor at the first line? I have infact noticed that , in the debugging mode , sometimes the cursor starts at the first line.Please help. Thanks

I have got a new requirement on this now. If the table control does not have any records , then the cursor position should be on the first row.Otherwise, if it already has some records, then the cursor should be at the first empty row.I wrote the code like below.

I am facing a strange problem now.The table control has some 10 rows when you see the screen for the first time.If the number of records already present is less than 10, I am able to position the cursor on the first empty row.But if the number is say 15, then the cursor position goes to eighth or fourth line or sometimes the first line.
Is there any way to display the last few records , ie, if there are 15 records , is there any way to display the last five rows when I see the screen for the first time, rather than showing the first 10 records?How can I position the cursor at the first empty row, when there are more records?

Set cursor in table control field

I have developed module using table control have done validation for one field on Enter key press.In change mode if user changes value in table control field and presses Enter key then system is showing Error message on status bar and table control gets gray out.
if user again hits Enter key then this error message clears and Table control is in Edit mode.
Here I wan that Cursor should go to same filed from which error message occurred.
I have written Get Cursor In PAI event and Set Cursor in PBO after Loop at table control. I tried Set cursor within Lop at Table control in PBO.
But cursor is not coming on that field of table control.
I have written set cursor as below:

Here itab is internal table assigned to table control.
Please let me know why cursor is not setting on particular field on table control.

hi, i am just wondering if anyone can tell me how can i actually place a cursor onto a certain component!

You mean like cause the cursor to move to a specific spot on the screen? Or change the cursor icon when it isover a certain component. Either can be done, the first with the java.awt.Robot class and the second by just calling setCursor( Cursor ) on a component.

Can someone explain how to set the focus to a component

What is the best way to ensure that a component gets the focus with code. I have tried requestFocus and requestFocusInWindow and none of them seems to do there work. The frame containing the components that should get the focus is displayed, the component is focusable so that is not the problem. What I found out is that if the component is deep in a nesting of panes (where the top pane is in the frame) is that calling requestFocus or requestFocusInWindow does not give the component where this focus is called on the focus but either the pane that contains it, one of the parent panes of this pane or one of the components in these panes, in almost all cases the component requesting the focus does not get the focus at all. I always have to write a work around in defining a focus listener for all these panes that transfer the focus back to the component that requested the focus originally, I can't believe that this is the way to ensure that a component has the focus via code. I have searched for documentation but found nothing on what requestFocus(inWindow) is actually dooing (a lot about focus traversibility but I don't want to control this, just make sure that a component gets the focus).
Again I'm pretty sure that the toplevel window is activated and that the component that requested the focus is focusable (I had created a derived version of the DefaultFocusManager that showed who has focus). Personally I think (and I'm not alone if you do a search in this forum on focus management) that there is either a big problem in the documentation of focus management or that it is still not possible to even try to set the focus on a component in a easy way.

thanks for your reply, here is some example code that illustrates the problem I have (the actual code is to big to show here, which is the raison why I did not posted it here). The code wil create a frame with a JPanel with a JTextField, a 'New' Jbutton and a 'Delete' Jbutton, a tabbed pane in the center ('New' will create a new JPanel, add it to the tabbed pane and set the focus on it, either by calling RequestFocusInWindow() directly or by calling it via InvokeLater (someone on this forum suggested to use this). I changed also the focusmanager to show the component that has the focus when you type something. To test compile and run the program (either with a call to requesteFocusInWindow directly or indirectly (by changing the comments), on my system I get the following behaviour:
1. requestFocusInWindow called directly
Start program en type, the tabbed pane has the focus
Press New and type something, a button has the focus not the created panel
Press New again and type something, a button has the focus not the created panel
2. requestFocusInWindow be called indirectly
Start program and type, the tabbed pane has the focus
Press New and type, the created panel has the focus (I thought at one moment that I had found the solution there, but alas ...)
Press New again and type something, a button has again the focus.
Note that with my real program it is not always a button that will have the focus, sometimes it is a combobox or a TextField (I tried to get this with the example code (the JTextField) but did not succeed.
Hopes this clarify the problem a little bid, what I want is when the window is visible to set focus on newly created panes (or in the real program on the panel that is selected via the tabbed pane or via a key combination to shift the focus between the panels) but requestFocusInWindow seems to behave unpredicatable. I can't imagine that what I see is a bug so I must make some assumptions which are not valid but I don't see them, btw listening on the WindowListener is I think not the solution because the frame is already displayed when I want to set the focus and I do not use a modal dialog box.

I have a Text control string box with some initial text. I would like to highlight old text with click of mouse and type in new data from keyboard

I have a text control string box with some initial text (says: Please enter Name). I would like the operator to click on the text control box and have it automatically highlight so that when new data is typed in the old erases (all at once) and the new data is now in the text box.
I tried using the "Text.Selection" property node and when I run it and put the mouse inside the text box the initial text is highlighted and if I press "delete" on the keyboard or if I start to type in new data the initial data does delete but once I start to type new characters they erase each other. For example if I want to type in “Willi
am” I type the “W” and then the “I” but the “I” erases the “W” and now I am only left with an “I” in the text box and so on. I appreciate any help

It seems you are continuously setting the property node over and over again. This should only happen once if you mouse over it.
Create a property node for your text control with the following three items:
(1) KeyFocus (wire a "true" constant to it)
(2) Text.SelStart (Wire a "zero" constant to it)
(3) Text.SelEnd (Wire a constant containing the string length of the text).
Put this property node inside an event structure, triggered by "Mouse enter" on the string control.
(see if the attached example works for you)

Some of the logic is a bit confusing (would be easier to read if you used the "Code" button in the SDN message editor)... for example:
LOOP AT ITAB_EMP WHERE MARK = 'X' .
IF SY-SUBRC = 0.
... the "IF SY-SUBRC" won't be reached unless there is at least one row where "mark = 'X'.''...
Anyhow, where is this code implemented currently?... the usual approach to validating a table control is to have a module called inside the "loop at table control" in the PAI of the screen flow... then the contents of each row on the screen will get passed into your logic a row at a time automatically and the "set cursor field" + "message e999(zz)" type code should work as it will refer to the current row being checked.

even i did one table control.
like i create the new data.
i type some value in the table control line which in turn is the work area.
say after one record i press enter.
then the ok_code will have the previous value. i.e. if ok_code for the create new is say &CRE1. then after typing the data in the record the value ok_code will be &CRE1 only.
so for that either you have to read the record st in some other internal table and flag is set when user presses the enter.
say if the user presses the enter many times then modify the other internal tables.
i suggest if you work with flag and internal table concept then your Table control will not change in GRAY.
if you have any doubt then i could share with you my code as well because my problem solved like this only.

Activate Tab page and set cursor on field!

Hi All,
I have a requirement to mimic SAP standard functionality like whenever a mandatory field is not enetered in a transaction, the control activates particular tab page and set the cursor on mandatory field.
My requirement is as below.
There is a main screen 1 with many tab pages.
But when I click on save button, the control goes to different screen. When a partular field is not enetered, then I should put my control to a particular tab page and cursor on that initial field.
Please help me to get this done. Al I think is SET SCREEN but not sure how I can eneable the control to a particular tab page and cursor on a field from the different screen.

Please tell me, when adding components (a mix of

for example:
