Set executable permission on file in AIR on OS-X

Hi,
Is there a way to set the executable bit on a file in an AIR
app on OS-X?

If your question is is there an actionscript API to set the
bit, then the answer is no.

Let me guess, you want your web application to run a program on the client and to your surprise that's not working?
    Ain't gonna happen.
its taking more time to execute .... that's y is there any other option to execute .exe file other than Runtime.getRuntime().exec("filename");Write proper English and you may be taken more seriously.
    1) it's not "taking more time to execute", whatever that's supposed to mean.
    2) there's no other way to execute something. Not that you should every use even that way anyway
    3) whenever you start thinking of executing external programs from Java, start thinking of not using Java in the first place.

  • Can AIR execute Windows .EXE files?

Can AIR execute Windows .EXE files?

    hi
you can now implement a standard windows installer (ie a native installer, rather than the AIR installer) when users install your AIR app. Not sure if there's an option to do this in flex/flash builder but it can be done via command line.
    eg:
    adt -package -storetype pkcs12 -keystore myCert.p12 -target native NativeProcessTest.exe NativeProcessTest-app.xml NativeProcessTest.swf NativeApps/Windows/bin/echoTestWindows icons
    or try this handy packager:

  • Set Folder Permission with CSV File

I currently have a batch file that I use to set the folder permission on a users folder.  The batch file of course requires me to manually set two variables.  I'd like to have a master csv file containing this info and a powershell script to allow
me to set these permission much more quickly.  Here's my current batch file:
    Set User=123A
    Set Folder=123
    icacls C:\Data\%folder% /grant %user%:(OI)(CI)F
My csv file would appear as 123A,123
I did do a search and found a few posts on this subject, but couldn't wrap my head around how to modify them to fit my needs.
    Kevin

    FOR /F "eol=; tokens=1,2* delims=, " %%i in (myfile.txt) do icacls C:\Data\%%j /grant %%i:(OI)(CI)F
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  • The purpose of the executable permission

    Hi,
What is the purpose behind the execute permission of Unix? Because if you can read it, you can always find a way to execute it anyway.
The read and write are pretty obvious.
If you can read a file, even if its execute permission isn't set and you don't have the rights to change the file permissions, you just copy it to your own machine, make it executable, and run it.
What does execute even mean? If it's Brainfuck code, then with read permissions your typical Brainfuck interpreter can execute it, no execute permission needed. Isn't running a Turing complete esoteric programming language considered executing? Or displaying an HTML file with JavaScript code in it...
There's probably something behind the execute permission that I don't know. The only way I come into contact with this permission, is in an annoying way: to enable it because it wasn't enabled already while I want to run it. What good (security) purpose does it serve in practice?
    Thanks!

It isn't solely about security. You can execute anything you can read, it's always been this way.
s1gma is right in that it 'helps' shells etc. figure out what to execute
The 2 security aspects I can think of are:
    a) You want an executable to be setuid for some user, but you only want people from a specific group to be able to execute it as setuid.
They can still execute it by copying, but the setuid flag gets lost, so they'll be executing it as themselves, rather than the user who owned the original file.
    b) Help against "accidental" execution.
For instance, a good reason to mount something 'noexec' is because it might contain binaries from other machines, where you don't know what's going on.
So if you want to execute, you want to specifically get a snapshot of the file at your machine, then check if it's really what you want (sha1/md5 sum etc), then finally execute it - most likely by setting the execute permission, then running it.
Another use for it - in a completely different manner - is for example an init script directory, like you have it in slackware (or at least when I used slackware it worked that way).
Where all init scripts you wanted to start at boot time where simply marked executable, and the others you had to execute by hand using a shell (sh /etc/rc.d/foo start or whatever it used to be.)

    hi,
i have a requirement to set file permissions and also to get the current permission mode on the file. PLease let me know if there are any inbuilt functions to set permissions to a file. (eg: CHMOD in unix) .
canRead() and canWrite() are only to get the permission. what about methods to set the permission for a file ? If there are no methods whats the possible way...
    Thanks,

May be I am not sure but try this
    Runtime.getRuntime().exec("EXecute chmod command here");

    Hi,
You can make an executable jar file such that when you double click on that it starts running. Just follow the steps.
    1. Open a notepad and write the following
    Main-Class: XXXXXXXX
XXXXXXX means Your Main Class name. Don't forget to press Enter after you write your class name.
    2. Save the file as Mani.mf
    3. In the commant prompt ( your directory ) type following lines.
    jar cmf Mani.mf Demo.jar *.*
    4. This will make a jar file which is executable jar file
    Hope this will help you.

  • In Adobe Acrobat Pro XI, is there a way to set defaults when combining files?

My specific problem;  When I combine files, Adobe creates the bookmarks (which is desirable).  These bookmarks however, always seem to default on "page width" view.  I would prefer to have the bookmarks set to "fit page".  It is very cumbersome to edit each bookmark to reset the view.  (this is another issue which should be addressed as well).
My preferences already are set to view the files in fit page, single page, however this setting does not seem to transfer to the combined file.
Is there a way to globally set the preferences for this?  Even the settings during the combining function do not give options for the page view settings.

There isn't a way to set this during the Combine process but it's easy to change all the bookmarks in one go using the following technique:
Open the bookmark navigation pane and select all the bookmarks (be sure to expand all subbookmarks).
Right-click and choose Properties from the context-sensitive menu.
Click the Actions tab and choose Execute a menu item from the dropdown.
Click the Add button and choose View > Zoom > Zoom to Page Level and click OK.

  • Error message while executing a SWF File

    Hi All,
Iam trying to execute a SWF file which has its actionscript
written in AS3. When i execute this, I am getting an error message
    which is as follows
    Verify Error 1030# Stack Depth unbalanced 1 != 0.
Can anyone tell me what could be the root cause?
    Thanks in advance,
    Prabakaran Srinivasan.

    Hi All,
I am able to find the root cause for this. For AS 3 classes,
while parsing the ABC code, every method body will be a set of
instructions in which each instruction will have an offset to it.
This offset will be useful to mark the target for branching
instructions like if, while etc.... Because, these instructions
contains targetoffset as a parameter to which the instruction has
to jump when the condition becomes true or false. The process what
i am doing is i do some code injection to replace the URLRequest
calls. The flash file in which i got this error, i did replace the
URLRequest call to my own method call and this code was being
wrapped up by an IF block. Because of the code injection, i need to
update the offset of the instructions with the difference offset
value. I did this, but i missed the jumpoffset parameter of the if
block wrapping my injected code which was the root cause. I did fix
    this...
    Thanks,
    Prabakaran Srinivasan.

Aside from removing the "start" or adding the title ...
Does your batfile really say "SET PATH=%PATH%;%JAVA_HMOE%\bin"? If so, I rather expect you meant to say "JAVA_HOME" and not "JAVA_HMOE".
Also, I'd be cautious about those relative paths that you're passing in to the Java program. Of course I don't know what you're doing with those in the program, but if you try to just pass those paths to a File or InputStream constructor, they're going to be relative to the current directory. And if you execute a batfile using cmd from an exec that's within a JSP ... I'm not sure what your current directory would be when the bat runs. Maybe you've checked this out and it's the right place, but if not, perhaps you have a misconception there.

Tried that but no joy. Found this post on SQLServerCentral, solved our issue which mimic's the posters issue.  Just adding here as this is the first result in our search.
    Look for Topic452669-150-1
There are a number of places I found with the information in the following
    link:
    http://phew-meme.blogspot.com/2007/10/reporting-service-on-report.html
    In
my specific case, the RsExecRole role in both the "master" and "msdb" databases
had had both the "NT Authority\Network Service" and "NTAuthority\System" logins
removed from its members (the RSExecRole had had all its members removed by
someone doing some maintenance). I compared another Reporting Services
installation on another server after reading information in the above
    link.
    Steps:
    1. In Mangement Studio connect to the SQL Server instance
    on which Reporting Services runs.
    2. Databases > system Databases
    3.
master > Security > Roles > RSExecRole (then add whatever logins are
required... check in the ReportServer or ReportServerTempDB databases if you're
    not sure)
    4. msdb > Security > Roles > RSExecRole (add the same
logins you did to the master DB)
In the end you need the same logins in
RSExecRole role for the master, msdb, ReportServer, and ReportServerTempDB
databases. ("ReportServer" is the default Reporting Services database name, in
    case that's not clear ;)

  • How to execute a  .sql file from a batch file

    Hi all
I've to take backup of a database weekly twice on every wednesday & Friday @ 5pm IST. I've written a hot backup script, which works every well.
now i want to automate the script. ie i want this script to run on wednesday & friday @ 5pm without any human interfearance ie with out actually any1 executing this script.
i created a batch file prod.bak with the following lines
    @echo off
    set oracle_sid=testdb
    set oracle_home=d:\oracle\ora92
    sqlplus /nolog
    connect sys as sysdba/oracletest@testdb
this batch file when eexecuted connects me to sql prompt.
Now i want to execute my backup script bkp.sql automatically when it is connected to sql prompt.
(i tried with these lines in the above batch file...
call bkp.sql---it just opens the bkp.sql file in notepad & displays the script
    start bkp.sql---same as call
connect / as sysdba/pwd@[email protected] --- does not work simply remains a the sql prompt.
At 17:00 /Every:w,f "d:\bkp.sql"---does not work simply remains at the sql promt.)
Can any1 let me know what should i write in the batch file that will execute the bkp.sql file automatically after it gets connected to sql prompt. M using oracle 9i.
I'll manage he time through windows utility of scheduling task.. Let me know how to execute the .sql file from a batch file.
    Thanks
    Tripti

    Try
    sqlplus "sys/oracletest as sysdba" @bpk.sql
Working locally, and having set the ORACLE_SID, you don't need to specify the SqlNet alias (@testdb).
Remember to put an exit at the end of the bpk.sql script.

I would like to ask how to set the permission for root to use rman ?
    Thank you very much ~!!

Check first if the directory where you save the auditing information is owned by oracle:dba.
