Set item color using Set_Item_Property()

I would like to change the color of the field 'fox_horse.sire'.
This is how I'm doing it, but why doesn't it work (neither on client/server nor on the web) ?

I have a feeling you are using the wrong property to try and change. The prompt_foreground_color property will change the colour of the prompt on your field. I think the property you need to try is foreground_color, which should change the colour of the text in your field itself.

I haven't tried in when-validate-item trigger, but this is what I use in setting colors based on user color selections.
set_item_property(block.item, background_color, field_rgb_color);
set_item_property(block.item, prompt_foreground_color, text_rgb_color);
set_item_property(block.item, foreground_color, text_rgb_color);

Setting item value for child tab

My application has pages with 2-level tabs.
I can set item values using the "Set these items" and "With these values" fields in "Tab Target" section in the application builder page of the parent tab.
However, I cannot find the corresponding fields for the child tab application builder page. ie. certain page items are being set when the child tab is pressed.
Creating page process to set the items doesn't work for me, because I only want the items to be set if the requested page to the current page is not the same one.

Use an on-submit before-computations process that fires conditionally based on the request, e.g., only if the request is one of a specified list of tab names.

Exporting with colors used in initial preview

Hi, I often notice that the fast initial preview has a desirable set of colors, however when it renders high-quality preview, the colors become desaturated. My question is -- how can I export the photograph using the set of colors used in initial preview, but not in the high-quality preview?
Note, I'm working with RAW files, Nikon D300, using "Vivid" setting for saturation and "High" for Active D-lighting.

You can't. What you see is the jpeg the camera created as a preview to your raw file. Lightroom only shows that for a short time after which it replaces it with its own interpretation of the RAW. Lightroom, like any non-Nikon raw converter cannot read the hints like vivid on how to render the raw data. If you want the image as rendered by the camera, open your RAW in Capture NX (should have come with your D300) and export as a jpeg or tiff from there. You can also extract the jpeg from the RAW file using tools such as exiftool, but that is a pain.

Just to be clear, if you shoot RAW and open your RAW files in a third-party converter, none of these settings get used.

There is no such thing as "list.setItemForeground(int index, Color c)". You'll have to use one of the methods above.

I have recently bought a new Mac with Leopard installed. My old Mac is running Tiger. Unfortunately the color management default settings in Leopard are different than in Tiger, so this is completely messing up my calibration. I already have set FF to No Proxy. This made FF work again, but not any of my other internet programs, programs that don't have the option to set to no proxy, they rely on the system settings. So I need to know how to reset my system settings back to their default values. This will allow all my net progs to access the net again, including FF using the Use System Settings option. Since FF has an option to use system settings, this is a somewhat FF related question. I need to get all my net programs working again, not just FF! And, if my system settings are restored, FF will work using the system settings, and all my other progs will work too.

To set the colour of a single cell in a multi-record block you need to use set_item_instance_property.

This doesn't allow changes to the foreground_color so you'll need to create a new visual attribute with the required forground colour and then set the visual_attribute property of the record's item.

How to set background color for a JFrame

The 'selected items' color randomly changes and I can't figure out why.

Hi everybody, I recently upgraded to Firefox 13, which appears to be the most stable browser version so far and I really like it. I have loved Firefox very much, having used it since somewhere between versions 2 and 3.
After upgrading to version 13 I noticed something that annoys me quite a bit. This may have been present before but I can't remember and I did not notice until now.
On my computer (Windows 7 x64 Ultimate) I have set the color of the 'selected items' (specifically text) to be lime green text on a slightly off black background. I chose this color scheme because it blends very well with Firefox itself (I have the NASA night launch theme), Windows Explorer, and many web pages that I have changed to a dark theme (using the Stylish browser extension). This color scheme has excellent contrast in areas with black text on a light background, as well as light text on a dark background. It has served me well.
After upgrading to Firefox 13 I have noticed that if the web page is dark with light text, the 'selected items' color changes to lime green text on a light grey background. (Less frequently, it changes instead to off-black text on a lime green background). I have not been able to isolate the threshold where this change occurs (meaning how dark the website background needs to be /how light the text needs to be for this to happen) nor have I found a solution.
This problem sometimes extends even to sites that have dark text on a light background: when tabs are switched, with no input fields clicked and the address bar is not clicked. This very page (Firefox support) is apparently vulnerable as well.
This problem only happens on rendered web pages. Firefox's menus, buttons and toolbars, as well as all other programs and Windows itself, are unaffected.
I want the 'selected items' to remain as I have set it, and not deviate regardless of the apparent contrast or color scheme of the web page being displayed.
[Edit #1]: Interestingly, as I was copying the information from about:support I noticed that it is affected as well.

It is always best to avoid making changes to the selected text colors.<br />
Firefox uses an algorithm to check if the contrast is sufficient and will swap text and background colors if that test fails.<br />

Setting Font Color [CS3][JS]

I am looking for a way to set the color of a piece of text that I'm inserting on the page. I have found information about how to use a swatch color to do it, but I can't find anything about setting the color based on CMYK values without having to create a swatch first. Likely I just don't know what properties/methods I'm searching for.
I'm using insertion points to control the location of my text in the frame. My code looks like this:

You can't directly set the fill or stroke to an arbitrary color specification — it has to be a color, swatch, a mixed ink, a tint, or a gradient. When you apply a color using the Colors panel, in the user interface, InDesign creates a color object, even though the color object does not appear in the Swatches panel. These colors appear as unnamed colors to scripting, but they're still color objects.
To apply a color via InDesign scripting, you must use a color or swatch object.

How to set the color to the particular row in a report

I want to set the color for the particular row when a link is clicked and the color should not be changed until I save the changes in items...After saving the changes, the report should come in the normal color...this is my requirement..i refered many forums regarding this...But could not find solution....If anyone knows,please help me...

Here is how I would implement
Create renderer
Add SkinnableContainer element and create a skin for this container namely SkinnableContainerSkin
find the fill section in the skin
add bitmap fill to the fill section and give the source of the image which you are planning to use(Hopefully this is a direct way of doing, may be you need to hack this a little to get it to work)

Set BACKGROUND COLOR of checkbox to DEFAULT color of form

Does anyone know how to set the background color of a checkbox to the default color of the form? I have tried using SET_ITEM_PROPERTY to no avail. On a related issue, seems once any color is changed from "<UNSPECIFIED>" (i.e. default) to any other color, there is no way to return it to the "<UNSPECIFIED>" state.
Any insight would be appreciated!

To return to unspecified, click the property, then click the Inherit icon at the top of the property palette. Doing this should make the checkbox area (not the box itself) the same as the canvas color.

Set Layer Color to color name

This works:
set layer color of layer 1 to light blue
This doesn't:
set listOfColors to {"light blue", "green", "blue"}
set layer colour of layer 1 to item 1 of listOfColors
I can see that item 1 is text, and light blue is not text - is there some way to coerce it? Maybe I'm just being lazy but if color names exist, I'd rather use them.

Those UI colours are app constants so NO double quotes… Also NO u in color on last line…
