Set max length for input parameter in SSRS

I have an input parameter (@year)   to display a simple report. This input parameter taken Year from user (ex: 2015) manually. Here my problem is to restrict the user to max length of
4. It should allow only (ex:2015) not (ex:20155) like that. Can any one please suggest me how to do this.

Hi SaikumarN,
According to your description, you want to restrict the length of values which user type in the parameter box.
In Reporting Services, it’s not supported to limit the length of the typed value in the parameter box currently. For your requirement, you could provide Microsoft a feature request at
https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer, so that we can try to modify and expand the product features based on your needs.
If you have any question, please feel free to ask.

  • How to set max length for TextField ?

    how do i go about setting a max length for a TextField in jdk1.1.8 ?
    a while back there was a topic on this but it was for jdk1.0
    please help

    well if it works in 1.0 it will most likely also work in 1.1.8 if it is depricated you can use the -deprication option during compilation to see what is derpricated and what method i advised to use now.
    there may however be an easyer way in 1.1.8 but i don't know that.
    hope this helps you,

  • Safari/WebKit - Is there a max length for URL?search_string

    Is there a max length for search strings in URLs in Safari or WebKit?
    e.g.
    www.foo.com?Thisis_....._5000_charslong
    Thanks

    Absolutely everything in computing has limits. Whether you are reached one is harder to say.
    Are you getting it on the prepareStatement() or the executeUpdate()?
    If the former then I would suspect a length limit (presuming absolutely no chance of a syntax error.) If the latter then it might or might not be.

  • Setting max length of the field when using Context Model Node

    I have created a model using Import Adaptive Web Service model option (a web service was a wrapper around SAP BAPI function module).
    There were no dictionary types created in the Local dictionary as a result of import.
    I have mapped the context of the controller to the model node.
    One of the fields in the model is name     CUSTOMER_NUMBER type string;
    Corresponding element in the wsdl of the web service is
    <xsd:element name="CUSTOMER_NUMBER" type="tns:char10" />
    I have created a view with the input filed mapped to the CUSTOMER_NUMBER field of the model node.
    When I type more than 10 chars into the field and hit the search button, I get a com.sap.dictionary.runtime.Ddcheck exception that the length of the field should be less than 10 chars.
    How can I set the max length of the field in design time to prevent runtime exception?
    Thanks,
    Julia

    Thank you for your reply.
    Java trim function will trim the white spaces only, not the characters.
    I can code check length functionality before calling execute function (the function that call the web service).
    I can also create a dictionary structure based on the model structure; create a context value node based on the dictionary structure and use WDCopyService API to move the data between value node and model node.
    I was looking for the best practice...
    When importing model based on Adaptive RFC, the dictionary structures are imported together with the model. This does not happen for Adaptive web service - hence there is a need to add coding for simple checks.

  • How to set max size for a custom field ucm11g

    Hi,
    I need to set maximum length to a custom field created in ucm11g 11.1.1.6
    The field's data type is Text and for example i want to limit the length to 10 characters
    Any example how to do this ??
    Regards
    Carlos

    Hi ,
    If you are looking to limit the number of characters that can be entered to the field from GUI then a global side effect and rule combination will help you achieve it . It would be something like this :
    This is done by leveraging Side Effects under Rules - Rules Activation Conditions. You also need to set the Rule as Global for this to be effective across the system.
    In there the following has to be set:
    <$dDocTitle:maxLength=80$>
    <$dDocName:maxLength =50$>
    Set the above side effect in the rules and corresponding Profile need to refer it for being able to limit the number of characters that can be entered for Title and Content ID.
    Custom metadata too can be controlled in the same way . For example, if metadata "Version" need to limit the number of characters being entered then "Side Effects" to be set is as follows :
    <$xVersion:maxLength=50$>
    NB - the maxLength parameter is not supported for fields of type Memo. It will only take effect on standard text fields.
    Thanks,
    Srinath

  • Custom UI or editor for input-parameter

    I think I need to implement a custom UI editor for an input-paramenter.  My input parameter is really a HashTable. I'd like to present a dialog that allows the user to enter any number of key value pairs.  The optional "editor" element  looks promising because it allows you to specify a ui-component.  I have searched and searched for sample code, but haven't found any.  Would some kind soul please point me to a resource that shows how to implement such as custom UI (whether it involves the "editor" element or not)?
    Here's a link to the ui-component element in the reference:
    http://livedocs.adobe.com/livecycle/8.2/programLC/programmer/help/wwhelp/wwhimpl/js/html/w whelp.htm?href=000959.html#1548965&accessible=true
    Thanks,
    Halynn

    I appreciate the reply.
    I was actually trying to point to another page, although that page may be applicable.  Apparently the URL in my browser window was not sufficient to recreate my state in livedocs.  I was looking at the reference for component.xml, specifically where it describes an optional <editor> element of <input-parameter>.  This <editor> component also has a child called <ui-component>.  I haven't found any sample code that uses these two elements.
    I need to call my component with a Map or Hashtable (an arbitrary set of Key/Value String pairs).  This Map needs to be easily configurable in LiveCycle Workbench.  I've seen numerous operations that popup dialogs for input-parameters and serialize their data.  I was thinking that I will have to implement my own dialog.
    It sounds like you are suggesting I can achieve this with a variable and the set value service.  I don't quite understand.  How would I insert the string pairs?
    Thanks,
    Halynn

  • How to set max size for varchar?

    Hi, all.
         I want to set a type like Varchar(max) in SQL Server.
         How to do that in MAXDB?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    sorry, I am not familiar with this feature in SQL Server.
    For MaxDB the maximum length for CHAR (n) ASCII is 8000, for CHAR (n) UNICODE is 4000,
    for CLOB is 2GB.
    There is not chance to restrict these maxima.
    If you want to define your 'own' datatype, maybe the concept of DOMAIN (see reference manual --> Data Definition --> CREATE DOMAIN) may help.
    If this does not answer your question, please help us by describing this SQL Server-feature.

    I have looked at the demo programs SALV_TEST_TABLE* and
    SALV_DEMO_TABLE*.  Unless I am blind I cannot find a way.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi,
    thanks for the reply,
    I do not call the SET_TABLE_FOR_FIRST_DISPLAY,
    as far as I can tell SALV does not require this.
    Here is in short  what my program looks like:
    data: lr_salvgrid  type ref to cl_salv_table,
          lr_columns type ref to cl_salv_columns_table,
          lr_column  type ref to cl_salv_column,
          gt_matdoc type mb_mkpf.
    I call method  cl_salv_table=>factory to get a reference to my itab:
            call method cl_salv_table=>factory
              exporting
                list_display = if_salv_c_bool_sap=>false
              importing
                r_salv_table = lr_salvgrid
              changing
                t_table      = gt_matdoc.
    Then for fieldcatalogue:
    i.e. hide columns etc
      lr_columns = lr_salvgrid->get_columns( ).
      lr_columns->set_optimize( abap_true ).
      lr_column = lr_columns->get_column( 'MANDT' ).
      lr_column->set_visible( abap_false ).
    Then to display:
      lr_salvgrid->display( ).
    I would have thought that the edit parameter would be somewhere in the fieldcat ( in class CL_SALV_COLUMN )
    but I cannot find it there.  Everything else like text/edit mask/currency/visible etc is here but not edit.

  • Date Format on OWB 11.1.0.7 to use for input parameter for a mapping

    All,
    What is the Date Format on OWB 11.1.0.7 to use for passing in an input parameter for a mapping to execute?
    I have tried '01-01-2010','01-JAN-2010','01.01.2010', 01/01/2010 and I get the following error:
    Error RPE-01003: An infrastructure condition prevented the request from completing.
    Error RPE-01038: Failed to evaluate expression declare l_expression DATE := 01/01/2010;begin :result := wb_rt_conversions.from_date(l_expression);end;. Please modify the expression, redeploy and retry again.

    PLS-00320: the declaration of the type of this expression is incomplete or malformed

    I am using a Mapping Input parameter object and have a START_DATE_IN as a DATE and an END_DATE_IN as a DATE
    Any information you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Shaun

    Hello Shaun,
    The function wb_rt_conversions.from_date is (at least in OWB10.2) overloaded and can with input-types as
    date, timestamp_unconstrained, timestamp_tz_unconstrained, timestamp_ltz_unconstrained or varchar2.
    If it doesn't work with varchar2 I would try Date:
    For example: to_date('2010-01-01','YYYY-MM-DD')

  • Setting specific length for a line

    I'm looking for a way to enter an exact length for a line. Also, exact dimensions for a rectangle.
    I'm assuming there's a 'Properties' window or something that has the shape's properties, but I'm not seeing anything. I've searched the help site, but not seeing anything there either.
    Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
    doug

    Look for the little downturned arrow in the tool options bar for more options for the different shape tools.
    I don't know that you can set a fixed length for the Line Tool, but could use the rectangle tool for a fixed line length.

  • Set horizontal length for Bridge display?

    As a new Bridge user, I'm finding the program potentially useful but a bit frustrating.
    When I view a file of pictures in Bridge, I'm finding that the number of pictures I can view entirely depends on the scale that I specify in the bottom slider. The pictures that Bridge doesn't have room to show simply dissapear off to the right hand side of the window.
    The only "solution" that I've been able to find is to reduce the scale of the pictures shown on the viewing screen down to such a tiny size that I can no longer see the picture (or sometimes even the entire file name).
    What I'd like to do is set some sort of a finite length for Bridge's effective viewing screen, and have the program move the pictures that don't fit at top down to the next row below. Is there some way to do this?

    This is not normal, but have seen posts on this before. My memory is dim so can not remember what the fix was.
    Things to check - is monitor set to native resouliton?
    Do you have it set up for a 2 monitor views even though you only have one screen?
