Set of Business Rules - BPC 10.0 Consolidation

Hi experts,
I´ll need help to work with two scenarios on BPC 10.0 (Consolidation) as following: 01- The scenario 01 has four entities: 1001, 1002, 1003 and 1004 and four business rules: ELIM01, ELIM02, ELIM03 and ELIM04. I need only rules ELIM01 and ELIM02 are performed for entities 1001 and 1002 and rules ELIM03 and ELIM04 are performed for entities 1003 and 1004. Is it possible in BPC? How can I do it? 02 - The scenario 02 has two entities: 1005 and 1006 and I´ll need to perform a set of rules with business rules ELIM05, ELIM06 and ELIM07 until 2014.03 and I´ll also need to perform other set of rules with ELIM05, ELIM06 and ELIM08 from 2014.04. In thi scenario I want to create a new set of business rules without the rule ELIM07 but I don't want to delete this. Is it possible in BPC? Can I work with two or more set of rules in BPC? How can I do it? Is it possible work with time dependent on set of rules?
Thanks a lot! Madhuk

Hi,
01
The scenario 01 has four entities: 1001, 1002, 1003 and 1004 and four business rules: ELIM01, ELIM02, ELIM03 and ELIM04. I need only rules ELIM01 and ELIM02 are performed for entities 1001 and 1002 and rules ELIM03 and ELIM04 are performed for entities 1003 and 1004.
Are we talking about the eliminations and adjustments business rule? Those rules have an entity property filter which you can use.
02
The scenario 02 has two entities: 1005 and 1006 and I´ll need to perform a set of rules with business rules ELIM05, ELIM06 and ELIM07 until 2014.03 and I´ll also need to perform other set of rules with ELIM05, ELIM06 and ELIM08 from 2014.04. In thi scenario I want to create a new set of business rules without the rule ELIM07 but I don't want to delete this?
Are we talking about the eliminations and adjustments business rules? They work based on the method based multipliers. So one possible solution would be to have different methods and therefore different method based multipliers in your ownership cube.

  • File to RFC/IDOC with a set of business rules applied on every record

    Hi experts,
i have a scenario where the following happens
    checks need to be performed
    1. Technical validations on the file picked up (Can be done through java programs)
    2. Business rules to be applied on every record (Am not sure if this can be done in PI)  Sample business rules - record id already present in the SAP system, check if some manadatory fields are missing in the record etc..quite a lot to be applied
I assume we use the File>PI>IDOC/RFC scenario for this..
However am not sure on how we apply the complex business rules on every record in file using PI.
    Any suggestions??

  • Business Rules Unavailable

I am unable to gain access to the CAPEX module predefined business rules. I've updated shared services allowing the selected user user rights to planning and business rules. However, they still do not show up in workspace.
For instance: I'm using Form 2: New asset requests. The documentation is as follows:
    ➤ To request asset purchases:
1 Open the data form 02. New Asset Requests (see “Logging On and Accessing Capital Expense Planning”
    on page 16).
2 Right-click an asset class, and select Add New asset.
If no assets exist, this message displays: “There are no valid rows of data for this data form.”
    a. Right-click the message.
    b. From the menu, select Add New Asset.
3 Enter details, such as asset class, description, number of requests (to plan for multiple asset requests of
the same value), Asset CAR#, priority, justification,
However, when I right click the message, "Add New Asset" doesn't appear. I have also noticed that the business rules are not populated under the form list on the left hand side of the workspace window. How can I gain access to these business rules?

    Hi,
Depending on the version, check whether the business rules are actually created. A set of business rules must be available either in Calc Manager or in Administration Services console, Business Rules section. Unlikely but if they are not there, something must have gone wrong during capex enablement.
The other likely possibility is the security issue obviously. Depending on the version check business rules security either from planning (Tools->Business Rules Security) or from EAS console (security tab in the business rule if I remember correctly).

  • Can I pass the selected member at page dimension to form business rule?

I have a business rule which will be executed when the form get loaded, the business rule is very complex, so I want to narrow down the calculation by passing the selected member at page dimension to the business rule.
For example, I have year as page dimension, and I only want to calculate the selected year at one time? How can I do it?
I know runtime prompt, but I don't think it's a good way, since you need to select again.
    Thanks
    Tony

You can use a variable and a run time prompt.
You can set the business rule options in planning to "Use Members on Form" and "Hide Run time prompt"
This way the page/pov member will be passed into the business and into the variable.
    Cheers

  • Dynamic Business Rules - Where to place

    Hi,
I am doing POC for a fortune 10 client and they have some business rules before crud actions are going to take place in DB. We have very minimal tables (less than 10) and its small application but web service (btw, this has to be webservice app) consumers are around 200 per sec.
The requirement with respect to business rules are also minimal (like 30 rules for entire project) but these rules will change very often(like once in a month). Assume these rules are on the enterprise level and not on the application level.
I am looking for best possible solution to achieve by developing small rules engine or putting them into another xml and apply transformation once request arrives.
I am confused of deciding which is better like putting business rules in xslt vs java business object. XSLT is allowing me to change rules with minimum impact on the system but it is hard to maintain and adding new rules (we are not anticipating any more new rules within next two years).
On the other hand, If I put in Java business object then it allows lot of flexibility to inject new rules and easy to maintain with cleaner code.
So, in short my questions are below.
    1. Is it good practice to put small set of business rules in xml/xslt?
2.are there any alternative business rules engines are available?
Any other suggestion related to above discussions are welcome.
    Thanks.

I believe this is what you want.

  • Business rule for Essbase cube calculations in 11.1.1.3?

    Hi,
Can we use business rules to use @XREF from data transfer from one cube to other cube. Why I went for business rule is, I can put set of business rules in a Sequence and any new user can run this Sequence on demand and even we need prompt also in that.
So, I want to clarify whether I can use the business rules for Essbase calculations along with calc scripts??
    Appreciate the response.
    Thanks

    Right,
Actually, Business rules are running essbase cubes in every case.
Remember planning and BRs are adding extra layers like prompts, forms, security, processes...
Think Business rules are extended version of calc scripts with some more functionality. They are ultimately running on essbase cubes...

  • Different tables used in Consolidation Business Rules

I was going through the documentation of different tables that needs to be maintained for consolidation business rules. I am a little confused and need some clarifications.
These are different tables that needs to be maintained for consolidation -
clcELIM - This table will tell what each source account needs to be divided into what 4 destination accounts.
clcRULES - The RULES will tell how this source account needs to be divided (percentage wise as stored in the OWNERSHIP application) into these 4 destination accounts.
clcMETHOD - This table lists down the different methods (along with their types and description) and its used in the clcRULES table
clcELIMH_- What does this table do and where does it come into picture?
*clcELIM_ - Is this same as clcELIM table mentioned above?
clcRULESH - What does this table do and where does it come into picture?
Also, what am I looking at is  what is the sequence in which these tables needs to be defined.
    For example -
    1. clcELIM has a field called RULE whose details are mentioned in clcRULES.
    2. clcRULES has a field called METHOD and I_METHOD whose detailes are mentioend in clcMETHOD.
    3. .... I am not sure what other tables do? Please fill in the gaps.
Thanks everyone for their help so far.

    Great explanation Alwin!
Since I am new to SAP BPC world and to tell the truth, consolidation world as well (I am a planning & forecasting guy), my follow up questions are -
(Sorry if the questions are naive).
So according to what you have explained, clcELIM and clcELIMH work together along with clcMETHOD to define the elimination rules for entities.
What do clcRULES and clcRULESH do?
Also you said that these are the SQL tables (clcELIM, clcRULES, clcELIMH etc.) and its advisable not to configure them directly. So what business rules from the administration side update these tables. I am sure the METHOD administration will update clcMETHOD while RULES administration will update clcRULES and clcRULESH, is that right? what about ELIM and ELIMH.
I am asking these questions since I dont have the system to work on yet but will be getting it on Monday next week. Right now I am trying to grasp as much as I can. So if you can send me some snapshots to amey420 at gmail dot com, that will be really appreciated.
Also you can send me the other documents you were talking about. I will shoot you an email as well.
Thanks a lot for your help.

  • Error when opening business rules table in BPC 4.2

    Hi,
I get the error "Unexpeted server error" when I try to open the business rules table in BPC 4.2 SP6.
I've tried the optimisation, processing the cubes and restarting the send governor services.
    Rregards,

    HI,
Hope you had a goo festive season.
Yes, I'm still experiencing the problem. I can't even create a new table in eAdmin.
Is there another way to access the tables or is there a setting I need to modify in order to get this to work?

  • Automating consolidation entries using business rules

    Hi all,
May I know whether it is possible to automate the following standard consolidation entries in SAP BPC using Automatic Adjustments Business Rules tables:
    1. Attribution of profit after tax to Equity Holders and Minority Interest;
    2. Appropriation of changes in post-acquisition Reserves to Minority Interest; and
    3. Elimination of parent company's Investment in Subsidiaries against subsidiaries' pre-acquisition Share Capital and Reserves.
The mechanics of these entries are:
    1. [Profit after Tax|https://forums.sdn.sap.com/] x POWN% -> post to [Retained Earnings|https://forums.sdn.sap.com/] and [Profit after Tax|https://forums.sdn.sap.com/] x Minority Interest % -> post to [Minority Interest|https://forums.sdn.sap.com/]
    2. [Post-acquisition changes in Reserves|https://forums.sdn.sap.com/] x Minority Interest % -> post to [Minority Interest|https://forums.sdn.sap.com/]
    3. Parent company's [Investment in Subsidiaries|https://forums.sdn.sap.com/] -> post to [Goodwill|https://forums.sdn.sap.com/], Subsidiaries' [Pre-acquisition Share Capital and Reserves|https://forums.sdn.sap.com/] x POWN% -> post to [Goodwill|https://forums.sdn.sap.com/] and Subsidiaries' [Pre-acquisition Share Capital and Reserves|https://forums.sdn.sap.com/] x Minority Interest % -> post to [Minority Interest|https://forums.sdn.sap.com/].
    The questions are:
How do I specify the Minority Interest % in the Automatic Adjustments Business Rules Table.
How do I specify that I am using Direct PCON% and Direct Minority Interest % for some entries and Indirect POWN% and Indirect Minority Interest % for some other entries?
How do I post one entry to the same level in the ENTITY hierarchy in which the ENTITY resides for subsidiaries and post the same entry to the immediate next higher level for the Parent Company in that level?
    Thank you.
    Regards.

    Resolved.

  • SAP BPC 5.1 Validation Tolerance in Validation Business Rules

I am trying to use the the validation tolerance field in the validation business rules and I make it work
This is how i understand it:
For example, I am trying to create a control that check that net assets = equity in the balance sheet with a tolerance of 10.
I have set up the following validation rule header and detail:
Header: CTRL1 ;validation operand = ; validation tolerance 10; all other fields are blank
    Details: CTRL1; account1=netassets;flow1=F_CLO;SIign1=1;account2=equity;flow2=F_CLO;sign2=1
    After running the validation package:
    If my netassets-equity=9--> i should see CTRL1=0
    If my netassets-equity=-5--> i should see CTRL1=0
    If my netassets-equity=15--> I should see CTRL1=15
Is my understanding correct? Has anyone been able to use the validation tolerance?
    Regards
    Lena

In addition to James comments, I just wanted to add a few additional notes:
    1.  The Demo application that was presented contains the applications that you described in your question.  Historically, the consulting team would either use the ApShell or the demo as the foundation for developing a set of applications for the customer based on the design sessions held with the customer.  BAsed on the customer requirements and design, often we start with ApShell and pull in components from the Demo that would support functionality requirements that may go beyond what Apshell has out of the box.  Many of these components are covered in an Advanced Training for BPC, including the helpful and not so helpful components.
    2.  You can pull many of the Demo dimension files, logic scripts and rules from the Application Server file folders for use in an Application set design.  Unfortunately, BPF's can not be transfered, since they are built in to an application and reside in tables in SQL. In addition, many BPF's need to be defined to meet a customers requirements, file names, location, users, and dimension structure.
    3. Many of the dimensions utilize several supporting properties that may be added via the admin console to any dimension.  The properties are a key ingrediaent to a well running application set, supporting reporting, script logic, and business rules.
    4.  The Performance dashboard is no longer an option that is included out-of -the-box, howvere it is just a shell that was adjustable to the application set designed for the customer.

  • Error while executing business rule "Please increase CalcLockBlock setting"

    Hello,
An error is occouring when I execute a particular business rule. The following message appears when I view the error from Job Console:
"Dynamic calc processor cannot allocate more than [100] blocks from the heap. Please increase CalcLockBlock setting and then retry"
No such error is occouring when I execute any other business rule.
Can anyone please tell me how to resolve it?
    Regards,
    Sa'ad

    Hi Sa'ad,
in the business rule your getting the error message is a calculation, where the result needs more than 100 blocks to access to.
The error comes from three possible causes:
    1. Lockblock setting is low (essbase.cfg)
    2. Your data cache setting is to small
    3. Block size is to large
I think you have to increase data cache settings (by default 8192 KB) to.
    Cheers

  • Using a business rule to set the substitution variables

    Hi All,
I am having issues with setting the value of Substitution variable from a Business rule.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Shakil

    Thanks for your response, John.
I am trying to set the Substitution variable through a data form on which the Business rule is attached.
The admin guide for Planning states that "You can set substitution variables on the Essbase server,
    application, or database level. The same substitution variable can exist on multiple levels;
Planning uses the first one it finds as it searches in this order: 1) database 2) application 3)
server." So I believe that it should be possible.

  • CEV business rule only uses first set of parameters in multiple inserts

We have a cev rule that logs data for emails when a record is inserted in a table.
Where there are two records inserted from a script, even where a qms_transaction_mgt.open_transaction and close transaction are used around each insert, the CEV record parameters do not change.
By this I mean we have two records:
    1 - id: 22
    2 - id: 23
We pass the id to the CEV business rule and dbms_output the parameter value - it indicates that for both records the p_id = 22.
The insert into the table indicates that the record ids were 22 and 23.
This appears to have been reported several times but there is no solution.

I would set it lower than 20 minutes as that is quite high before it sends the rules into the background, if the spawning at 10 minutes try setting it just lower than 10 as a test.
It may also be worth looking into the apache timeout (if you are using the apache web server plugin) as that could also be playing a part.
    Cheers
