Set tablespace for index in OWB

It is Monday and I must just be missing where you can set the tablespace for an index in OWB 11gr1

Hi,
in table Configuration properties (under Indexes section) you can set tablespace for each table index

  • Separate tablespaces for indexes and LOBs

I have modeled my db tables with jDeveloper. Now I would like to store my tables in default tables, my indexes in a separate tablespace, and LOBs in a 3rd tablespace.
How can I best add the tablespace definitions to the table creation sql? I can't find such functionality in jDeveloper.
If jDev does not support this, does Oracle have some other tools which could do this?
Or can I set some ALTER SESSION parameter before creating the tables which would make my indexes and LOBs go to the correct tablespaces by default?

I see jDeveloper 11g has a possibility for specifying tablespaces for the tables and LOBs.
I cant figure out how to set tablespaces for indexes though. I can tell there is definately no way to set tablespace settings for primary key / foreign key indexes.
So jDev 11g does not seem to solve my problem either.

  • Amount of temporary tablespace size used for index rebuild

    Hi All,
I want to know approximate amount of temporary tablespace size used for index rebuild. I need this information to avoid the insufficient temporary tablespace error during the huge index rebuild.
Is there a query or procedure to find it out.
    Thank you.

    Hi,
While creating the index, the temporary segment is created in the permanent tablespace. So permanent tablespace must have sufficient space.

  • How to set only one Index-group for a Search-iView as default?

    Hi Everybody,
i have a lot of index ID's for searching in different folders. Is it possible to set only one index-group as default for a search iView? Until now i get all groups as default in every search. It's inconvenient for the users to use the link of 'show options' in order to uncheck the other index ID's.

    Edited by: seed_mopo on Jun 6, 2008 5:02 PM

    hi Seed,
To achieve this you have to follow the below steps
    1. Create a new set of search options, choose System Administration -> System Configuration -> Knowledge Management -> Content Management -> User Interface -> Search -> Search Options Set in the portal.
In that you have a field 'Index Groups', wherein you can specify which index group, the user has to search in. If there are multiple index groups, mention your index groups separated by comma.
    See here for more information
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/cc/f4e77ddef1244380b06fee5f8b892a/content.htm
    2. You have to specify the option set that you created in step 1 in the default KM search iview. In the iview properties, under the field search option set, mention the option set that was created for this index group or multiple index groups.
This way, you can configure KM search iview to search in a single index group or multiple index groups.
Revert back in case of any queries

  • Informix: Error while trying to set up start or end key for index read

    Hi all
Im moving an application from weblogic 6.1 to 8.1, we're using informix as our databasemanager and are using informix's XA driver. However im running into the following error:
SQL State: IX000, Exception: java.sql.SQLException: [Internal] Error while trying to set up start or end key for index read [fmstopset_release],
SQL ErrorCode: -9847, Error Message: [Internal] Error while trying to set up start or end key for index read [fmstopset_release], RSAM ErrorCode: -101
    ...while accessing a table.
The same code runs fine twice, but the third and following times it fails with the above error code. I've tried setting the various XA flags available in the weblogic console but with no success so far.
Anyone have any input to this problem? Ive not seen many postings about this error out in the cyberspace and the fews ive seen never gets any response...so i just have to hope anyone in here know anything about it.
    Best regards

    Hello
I managed to work around my problem by setting the "statement cache size" in the jdbc connection pool to 0. At least that seems to be a work around, im not fully happy with it.
I attach the stack trace from the exception, perhaps it will give someone an idea.
Btw, we're using sun.jdbc.rowset.ExtendedCachedRowSet to populate the resultset to a "disconnected resultset" which the application works with instead of the resultset. Any statements and resultsets that are created are closed before returning the ExtendedCachedRowSet to the application.
If the application works when statement caching is turned off, then it implies a bug in the
informix driver to do with re-using a prepared statement. Is the PreparedStatement used
the same way each time? (the one at AbstractDAO.java:166) What I mean to ask is, If/when
this statement is created with a given SQL string, are the parameters for that SQL always
    set the same way?
    thanks,
    Joe

  • Import dumpfile with seperate tablespaces for table and index

    Hi,
We have a schema for which the its tables are stored in seperate tablespace and indexes are stored in different tablespace. Now we have take full schema export. Now we want to import it on another schema. Now I want to know if the we have difference in the tablespace name we use REMAP_TABLESPACE clause of the impdp command but what about the seperate tablespace for table and indexes. How would Oracle handle this.
    Regards,
    Abbasi

    Hi,
I hope you created the same tablespace structure on the target side if not so remap_tablespace option you have to use for specifying different tablespaces.Oracle will take care of putting data and index.Any how if a index is moved from one tablespace to other you have to rebuild them, once you rebuild them than only stattistics are gathered otherwise you
    might face some performance issue.
Better option is to keep same tablespace structures in source and target environment.
    Best regards,
    Rafi.

In weblogic server when I Setting Up a User and Tablespace for the Server Migration Leasing Table in Sql Plus I got an error. ORA-00972: identifier is too long

Refer: How to: Grant User Access to a Report Server (Report Manager), but this gives a step-by-step procedure for
adding users who are a part of the Domain. In your case you are trying to add users who are not a part of the domain, meaning, you are trying to create users only specific to Reporting Services, am I right?
But Reporting Services either relies on AD to authenticate the users, or you can create a custom-authentication extension to authenticate the users.
In your case, you might need use a custom security extension, and use that to create/delete/modify users. Check the Forms authentication Sample here:

  • Set tablespace free space (mb) for a single large tablespace?

It seems that in EM, setting the free space (mb) for locally managed tablespaces affects all of my locally managed tablespaces in the database and not just one.
I clicked on Tablespace, Edit (button), Thresholds and set the Free Space (MB) Warning and Critical. I thought I was setting it for a particular tablespace (because I chose Edit on a single tablespace). But then I got alerts from much smaller tablespaces because those tablespaces had much smaller MB than the thresholds that I just set.
Using EM GC, is there a way to set the free space (mb) to alert for a single large tablespace where defining a critical free space mb is better than setting a free space percent?

ok, go to the database you want to manage.
Then click on Metric and Policy Settings (link at the very bottom).
Scroll down to the 'Tablespace Space Used (%)' metric, and click on the edit button
Now, click on the 'add' button to setup settings for individual tablespaces.

  • Set generate flag to false for index, but index will still be created

I found that the generate flag for index will now be stored correct, even I close and reopen th ephysical model.
However, even i set the generate flag for an index to false, the DDL for the index will be generated. Any workaround?
    Additional hint:
    * The flag is considered if no physical model is opened.
    * To not open the physical model is no workaround because if the physical model is not opened, no sequences will be generated.
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi David,
thanks for your answer. However, I do not see that this is a practicable workaround for me.
    Let me explain.
    * I have table A with a foreign key on column X to table B.
    * I have set that data modeler should create missing indexes for foreign keys (preference/data modeler: automatic index generation for foreign key constraints enabled)
    * If I generate DDL, I will get the missing index generated by data modeler (index name ends with FKX). That's fine.
    * But, now I have a combined index of column X and column Y on table a. this index would make the automatically generated index needless - because it is already covered by the combined index.
    * To avoid generating the needless index, I design an index on column X and set the flag for generation to false.
    * If I have designed the index on column X, data modeler does not generate the missing index. However, the needless index will be generated even the flag is set to false.
Of course I can exclude the index from the generation in the generations dialog, but from my point of view I already decided not to generate the index in the relational model. In case the physical model has not been opened, the indexes having generate equals to false are excluded from the generation (could also be seen in generation dialog).
    Cheers,
    Frank

  • Creating an index: it's not possible to select a tablespace for the index

    Hi,
we are using SQL-Developer Version 3.0.04.
When creating an index it's not possible to select a tablespace for the index. The only choice which is offered by SQL-Developer is <DEFAULT>.
The user itself has privileges on several other tablespaces - and therefore not just only on the default tablespace of the user.
    Any help will be appreciated
    Rgds
    JH

    Hi JH,
Well, the capability is somewhat buried in the UI, but it is there.
In the Create Index dialog ...
    1. Tick the "Advanced" check-box in the upper right-hand corner.
    2. Select "Properties" from the left-hand list (Definition, Properties, Partitions, DDL).
    3. Click the Storage Options... button
    4. Use the drop-down list to select the desired tablespace.
Return to (2.) and select DDL to see that your tablespace choice is present.
    Regards,
    Gary

And if all you see in the drop-down list is <DEFAULT>, then I would suggest rechecking the user's privileges. Or provide more details about your environment: OS / Database / JDK version, and so on.

It is recommended not to have autoextend on for any tablespace as it will be difficult to manage datafiles that grow very large. Example if your datafile are very big in size then while doing an image copy of the files if you get any copy error in between then you have to start the copy from beginning. But if the files were small and you were doing a copy and after few files you get the copy error then you can continue from the last failed file onwards. Another example is if you don't have chunk of small disks to store your image copy backupsets then small files will fit on those disks. Recommended size of the file is maximum 8 to 10GB.
Also set Tablespace%userd metrics warning and critical threshold values so that you get an alert once a tablespace reaches that threshold.

As orafad indicated, you'll have to use the USING INDEX clause from the documentation, i.e.
    SQL> ed
    Wrote file afiedt.buf

  • Setting colors for item labels in JFreeChart (WaferMapRenderer)

    Hi,
first of all, sorry for posting a JFreeChart related posting on this forum, but I didn't get a solution right now (I even didn't find anything useful on the JFreeChart website/forum). Here's my question...
I'm trying to set the color for item labels in the legend but with no success.
    Here's a code example:
    final JFreeChart chart = ChartFactory.createWaferMapChart(
        "Wafer Map Demo",         // title
        dataset,                  // wafermapdataset
        PlotOrientation.VERTICAL, // vertical = notchdown
        true,                     // legend
        true,                    // tooltips
        false
    WaferMapPlot plot = (WaferMapPlot) chart.getPlot();
    WaferMapRenderer renderer = new WaferMapRenderer();
    renderer.setSeriesItemLabelPaint(0, Color.red);
    renderer.setSeriesItemLabelPaint(1, Color.blue);
plot.setRenderer(renderer); The default behavior of the WaferMapRenderer is also strange because the item label as well as the item marker is painted black so you cannot distinguish different fields of the wafer map. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong (or missing somehting)?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks and best regards,
    - Stephan

Your folder action script doesn't work because of one simple error:
set label index of every item of entire contents of processFolder to 7
Nowhere in your script is 'processFolder' defined, so AppleScript has no idea what you're trying to do.
Given that you (correctly) iterate through added_items, the correct format would be:
on adding folder items to this_folder after receiving added_items
      repeat with item_ in added_items
        tell application "Finder"
set label index of item_ to 7
        end tell
      end repeat
    end adding folder items to
In other words, this changes the label index of each item just added.
That should work provided you're dropping files into this folder. If you're dropping folders then this would set the label index of the folder itself, but not necessarily the items within that folder. For that you'd need to add a check to see if item_ was a folder and add code to handle folders.
Also note that this kind of folder action will only work on the folder itself - that is, if you have folder A that contains subfolder B, then dropping a file into subfolder B won't trigger the script and won't change that item's label. To do that you'd have to attach your folder action to subfolder B.
