NehaHi Neha,
It seems that there is problem with your SDM server. It seems that during J2EE engine configuration SDM server is not configured. Actually this configuration is done by Basis Team.
By the way try out your Server setting:
Go To:: Windows -> Preferences -> SAP J2EE Engine
[Mention the required details over there]
And Check whether you are getting Active SDM Server under J2EE Engine.

ECATT abends during recording when lead selection is set to 0 on web dynpro
We have a web dynpro application that works ok when running by itself. When we tried to record ECATT testing on it, it abended after we click on a selection from a list of values. The error on the browser indicated an error on the "lead select". After reviewing the dump, we found that it abends on an exception when the lead selection on the ALV is not set. When we changed our code to set the lead selection to 1, the ECATT recording worked.
We have a requirement to set the lead selection of ALV to 0 so we need to change back our code. We just did the setting to 1 just to get ECATT recording to work for now. Does anybody know why ECATT requires this? Is there a support packs that fixes this?
Here is a snippet from ST22 for more details on this:

How to get User Id in Web dynpro application
Hi Experts,
I am running web dynpro application with authentication checkbox set. I want to display user id of the user in my application. I am using following code in Init method of component controller.
IWDClientUser wdUser = WDClientUser.getCurrentUser();
WdContext.currentContextElement().setUserName (wdUser.getClientUserID());
Here I am getting some integer value as userId.
I am not using Portals, so solutions suggested for portal are not useful for me .
Is there any way to get this uset id.
Thanks in advancehi
try this piece of code
IWDClientUser wdUser = WDClientUser.getCurrentUser();
IUser user = wdUser.getSAPUser();
if (user != null)
IUserAccount[] acct = user.getUserAccounts();
if(acct[0] != null)
String strUserid = acct[0].getLogonUid();
wdContext.currentZtms_Fm_Regupdate_InputElement().setAssoid(new String(strUserid));
Note: Defining the IUser will show an error. To resolve this, within the properties of
the project, choose Java build path -> Libraries -> Add external jars ->
com.sap.securities -> lib -> com.sap.security.api. Open this file and retype the code. -
HTTP 500 internal server error while starting abap web dynpro application
Hi there,
i have some problems concerning my web dynpro abap configurations in the system. When i start an application the browser appears and displays the http 500 internal server error. The required icf nodes are activated, as far as i know. the following properties are set:
hostname: aet
port: 8000
The generated url for the web dynpro application looks as follows:
http://aet.ls3001:8000/sap/bc/webdynpro/sap/zwdr_test?sap-language=EN
Maybe anybody of you out there has an idea for that situation.
Thanks for your afford and kind regards,
AlbertHi Ulli,
the error message says:
UNKNOWN HOST
Description: Unable to locate the server named "aet.ls3001" --- the server does not have a DNS entry. Perhaps there is a misspelling in the server name, or the server no longer exists. Double-check the name and try again.
So the problem is the hostname.
When i replace the hostname with the ip of the server, the following error occures:
COULD NOT CONNECT
Description: Could not connect to the server "10.18.187.9".
But with SAPLogon, its possible to connect on the server by filling in the ip adress.
Kind regards,

The Web Dynpro application 'PageBuilder' has expired
Hi Alll,
We are implementing ESS/MSS and the Portal was working fine.
We set it up for SSL/https and it was working just fine. However when we call it from reverse proxy server the web dynro applications through the following error:
The Web Dynpro application 'PageBuilder' has expired. Restart the application. Choose 'Refresh' in the iView tray or use the browser 'Refresh' button to restart the iView
Details: No details available
When I tested this with a transaction iview they work just. Also when tested directly from Portal they work fine.
Can anyone assist on this please?
Thanks,
MikeHello Mike,
After a user is logged in and requested an ESS/MSS application. The pagebuilder service is requested to built the page.
When the user is still logged in but is not working with this application the pagebuilder receives a timeout after a while and the session is expired. The pagebuilder has sometimes the status stopped, you can see this in the Netweaver Administrator. (Search for the pb in the application area)
If an other user is requesting an application the pb service is started again and the page built again.
If you want to get rid of the warning you could set the "timeout" parameter to a higher value in the configtool.
Kind regards,
Marcel -
The Web Dynpro application 'UWL' has expired
Hi ALL,
We are using Enterprise portal 7.0. and backend SRM server
When the user login into portal it will take him to the UWL page
in that the user click for any "Approve shopping cart" the error message showing
" The web dynpro application *'UWL' has expired. restart the application. choose 'refresh' in the iview tray or use the*
*browser 'refresh' button to restart the iview"*
user not getting the error message every time. error coming occasionally
we suggest the user to clear the cookies and restart the browser and relogin.
but some times it works some times not
Can any one know the exact problem (any parameters has to be change or any other solution)?
Regards,
Abdul Razzaq
SAP NW.BASIS ConsultantDear Abdul ,
Hope you are doing good.
We have seen similar cases of WD Session Expired error message when the jsessionid cookie issued by the server with the initial requests was not returned from the client with subsequent requets to the server. The only way to ascertain whether this is the case in your system will be by checking the HTTP watch trace (note 1558903 - How To Trace a Portal Scenario Using HttpWatch).
As the jsessionid cookie is used for session management, when it is missing from the request headers the correct session could not be retrieved and as result new session will be created for that user. Set the parameter JSESSIONID.CookieDomain to "NONE" as mentioned in the sap note: 791765 and see if the issue persists. This configuration should be accessible in
Config Tool -> expand the tree "cluster-data" -> "Global Server Configuration" -> "services" -> "servlet_jsp" -> Go to "Global
Properties". Do make the changes, save the customization and then restart the complete SAP server (not just the JAVA server nodes).
Kindly go through the note completely.
Also make sure that the SystemCookiesDataProtection and SystemCookieHTTPProtection is set in the HTTP Provider Service on
the server nodes.
Do make the changes,save the customization and then restart the complete SAP server.
Thank you and have a nice day :).
Kind Regards,
Hemanth

I'm a java developer,During i 'deploy and run ' a web dynpro application on server-1,if the application have some runtime errors. there are displayed many infomation about the runtime error,such as exception track,etc.
But when i do the same on server-2,there just show something like:
500 Internal Server Error
SAP NetWeaver Application Server 7.00/Java AS 7.00
Failed to process request. Please contact your system administrator.
but the server-1 will stop the j2ee engine.
how can do i make server-2 show detail error message as server-1. when i debug web dynpro application need these infomation.
Appreciate your inputs...
(Note:server-1 and server-2 have same software version)
Edited by: BingLin Zhong on Feb 18, 2008 2:13 AMThe Sap-Notes 962319:
1. Check in the Visual Administrator, "Licensing Adapter" -> "General" -> "SystemType" !
If it is set to "DEVELOPMENT_MODE", verbose error messages are shown.
If it is undefined, proceed with the next step.
If it is set to something else, only exception IDs are shown. In this case the only chance is to search for this exception ID in the default traces.
2. If the system type is undefined, then in the Config Tool "Configurations" -> "webdynpro" -> "sap.com" -> "tcwddispwda" -> "Propertysheet default" -> "DevelopmentMode" is evaluated. If it is "true", verbose error messages are shown.
3. If verbose error messages are required but still the short version is shown, you probably face an error message that is not raised by Web Dynpro but by other components of the NetWeaver. In the Visual Administrator set "Properties" -> "HTTP Provider" -> "DetailedErrorResponse" to "true".
4. In addition to the error page shown in the browser or client, important messages - including error messages and stack traces - are written to the log and trace files, e.g. to the default traces usr\sap\<SID>\<instance>\j2ee\cluster\server<number>\log\defaulttrace.trc.<number>.
a) In some cases, when an exception ID is included in the error message, the detailed error message can easily be retrieved in the log file.
b) When no exception ID is given, you have to search for the detailed error message in the log specifying time stamp and/or user ID.
Always consider restarting the system after making changes on the settings.
It is not recommended to switch the "SystemType" to an inappropriate value just for viewing verbose error messages. The system type potentially affects framework, applications and licensing in an perhaps unintended way.
In the past there was no distinction between different system types regarding error messages. For security reasons this distiction has been introduced. It is not intended to show stack traces in non-development systems in the future. SAP does not provide workarounds or patches to enable such a behaviour again. -

How to link the ALRTINBOX in a ABAP Web Dynpro application?
How can I link the ALRTINBOX window in a web dynpro application view?
Hi Rahki,
The status of what?
There are traffic light icons that you can use, or you can set the cell design (which changes the background colour of a cell (if you are in a table).
I often use this to indicate on a review step whether a cell/row has been inserted, modified or deleted from a table.

Using a Deployable Proxy in a Web Dynpro Application
Hi,
We have a Web Dynrpo application whose model is built from a set of Java business objects (POJOs.) These Java business objects currently make calls to a back-end R/3 system using JCo. We would like to provide the ability to allow the calls to be made over Web Services to the back-end system.
To call the RFMs as web services we have created a Deployable Proxy project, added the proxy as a public part, then referenced that public part in the web dynpro application. At this point we can write code to call the web service that looks something like:
InitialContext ctx = new InitialContext();
Object serviceObject = ctx.lookup("wsclients/proxies/meridium.com/rcmo~proxies/com.meridium.rcmo.ws.proxies.plants.PlantProxy");
Z_MRDM_GET_PLANTSService service = (Z_MRDM_GET_PLANTSService)ctx.lookup("wsclients/proxies/meridium.com/rcmo~proxies/com.meridium.rcmo.ws.proxies.plants.PlantProxy");
Z_MRDM_GET_PLANTSPortType port = service.getLogicalPort();
Z_MRDM_GET_PLANTS plantParameter = new Z_MRDM_GET_PLANTS();
plantParameter.setI_PLANTID(id);
plantParameter.setI_PLANTNAME(name);
Z_MRDM_GET_PLANTSResponse response = port.z_MRDM_GET_PLANTS(plantParameter);
MT001W[] plantArray = response.getET_PLANTS();
The problem is that when I call looup to retrieve the service implementation I get a ClassCastException.
The tutorials for using a proxy in web dynpro all assume that the web service is what the model is based upon but that's not possbile for our scenario we need to call the proxy from the business objects which are the basis for our model.
According to the help documentation for consuming a deployable proxy in a JSP page:
<a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/2d/b9766df88f4a24967dae38cb672fe1/frameset.htm">http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/2d/b9766df88f4a24967dae38cb672fe1/frameset.htm</a>
It discusses adding JNDI mappings. Is this what's needed for the reference to work in a Web Dypro application too? If so, how would one add the JNDI mappings references to a Web Dynpro application?
Many thanks!Hi Dheeram,
I'm not certain about JSPDynpage specifically, but in a general J2EE Enterprise Application project you can add a reference to the application-j2ee-engine.xml file. For example here's the content of an application-j2ee-engine.xml file that references a proxy:

How to Debug a BAPI from a Web Dynpro application
I have a Web Dynpro application calling a BAPI, and I would very much like to see what data the Web Dynpro application is passing into the BAPI, and then debug the BAPI.
Is there a way to do this? I'm wondering if it is possible to somehow set up the ABAP stack so that on receipt of the BAPI call, it appears on the tRFC queue waiting for execution.
However it is done, I need a way to step through the BAPI on the ABAP stack.
BR,
Tony.Hi Anthony,
The ABAP runtime environment contains various tools that you can use for analysis purposes, such as for debugging source code. All source code written for Web Dynpro applications in ABAP can normally be tested using the debugger.
To allow it to test other Web Dynpro-specific program entities too, the debugger has been equipped with a special enhancement. In the phase model in the active application, you can typically see the following information at various points in time:
-The structure of the content of the current controller,
-The properties of the UI elements in the layout of the current view
-The currently instantiated component usages
Starting the Debugger
The functions for debugging Web Dynpro entities are embedded in the new debugger. You therefore need to have selected the new debugger in your Workbench settings.
Selecting the New Debugger
1. In the menu, choose Utilities -> Settings.
2. A dialog box now appears that contains two nested tab page areas. Choose the parent tab page ABAP Editor.
3. The settings for ABAP Editor always open with the content of the child tab page Editor. Here, select Front End Editor (New).
4. Now switch to the Debugging tab page in the ABAP Editor settings and select New Debugger.
5. Save your changes and close the dialog.
Starting the Debugging Process
To run an application in debugging mode, you first need to set an external breakpoint in display mode in one of the methods in the component.
Now start a test run of the application from ABAP Workbench as usual.
The method in which you set the breakpoint depends on the purpose of the test run. To debug a view, for example, it is best to set the breakpoint in method WDDOMODIFYVIEW. Provided that the context of the view controller is not filled using a supply method, the view is fully instantiated in the phase model at this point in time.
Selecting the Web Dynpro Tool in the New Debugger
When you start the application, another session opens automatically for the debugger. If you have not yet saved any personal settings with regard to the layout of the debugger, the Editor tool will now appear on the left, with the Display Variables tool on the right.
1. Select one of the three desktops in order to reconfigure it for debugging the Web Dynpro application (see Designing Work Areas).
2. The right-hand edge of the debugger window has a bar of function icons. Choose the Replace Tools icon:
3. In the next dialog box (New Tool) open the lowest node (Special Tools) and choose Web Dynpro.
4. Confirm the dialog box.
On the right of the debugger desktop, you will see that the previous tool has now been replaced by the Web Dynpro debugger. You can save this setting for future debugging activities. To do this, choose Save Layout In the debuggers general toolbar.
Thankyou,
Ramganesh.
