Setting an Item as an audiobook or podcast

Hi, I Like to use the search bar to limit what's shown in my library. For example I always have it up and have the music tab selected. This way when I want to listen to music podcasts or books won't play(nor do I even have to see them) Is there anyways to tell itunes that some of the mp3's I have are audio books(actually they are lectures and speeches) so I can limit them with the search bar.?
I realize there are several workarounds for this, such as playlists, smart playlists, or even just deselecting the box for items I don't want to play. But what I really wan't/need is to make these items recognized as audiobooks or podcasts by itunes.

The only items that iTunes recognizes as audiobooks (for the searchbar and also for display under that menu category on your iPod) are audiobooks that have been purchased from Audible.com or AAC files that have been identified as file type ".m4b " -- such as through running the Make Bookmarkable AppleScript. So you'd have to convert your mp3 files to aac (.m4b audiobook) files with an AppleScript such as Quick Convert, which optionally will turn them into audiobooks.
Podcasts are slightly trickier, because you have to add a PCST atom to their container, the way that iTunes will to all podcasts subscribed to through the iTunes Music Store. I gather you want to do this for podcasts that you've imported some other way, since you can subscribe to any podcast that has an RSS feed by inserting the URL of that feed in the "Subscribe to Podcast" line under the Advanced Menu option of iTunes. Try using Atomic Parsley, which is a general-purpose editor for "atoms". However, it's much simpler to simply subscribe to these podcasts through iTMS. Creating a personal web server, putting the mp3 files there, and "subscribing" to the feed through the Advanced Menu of iTunes is another way to accomplish this, Or if you use Doppler Radio as a podcatcher, you can automate the conversion of mp3 podcasts to .m4b audiobook files such as outlined here.
I think your easiest option is to download the Quick Convert AppleScript, select (highlight) any mp3 files you want to convert (using the "podcast" AAC setting is a good choice), and run it to convert these to .m4b files that will show up under your Audiobooks menu. These files will automatically bookmark, be kept out of music shuffle play, can be separated with the search toolbar (as you want), and can also be played back at sped up or slowed down speeds.

IPod sometimes freezes when loading audiobooks or podcasts

I'm using a 2g 8GB iPod nano. Sometimes when I load an audiobook or podcast, the device freezes before it starts playing. The screen will start to slide from the menu to the Now Playing screen, and then just stop before it gets all the way to the Now Playing screen. This has never happened with music though. I've tried all of the usual stuff, like resetting and restoring the iPod, but the problem persists.

Well, I've been experimenting with this issue for awhile now. I think I've found something as it hasn't happened since. Hook up your ipod, go to the audio book listing on your Ipod (not the computer), right click it, click get info, click options, set the equalizer to the SAME setting as you have your equalizer set for music. I use "Deep" for both. Could it be that the ipod is locking up because its trying to change the equalizer on the ipod when you load a book?? That has worked for me for days now....Please let me know if it does not work for you.

i will try to explin myself i want to let the user to enter only 40 characters despite the fact that the text item can get up to 70 char ( the text item is based on DB column that is varchar2(70)) and i want to limit the user to 40 char because i take the item he updated or insered from the oracle DB and load it to another DB there the same column is in type varchar2(40) and i want to limit the user insted of substructing the string he is inserting.

Setting an item value before print report in BI Publisher

Hi,
I am having an issue with setting a page item's value once a button (that prints a BI Publisher report) is pressed. The session state for the item is set, however because the page does not re-load no value appears in the item on the page.
I am using a button as a page Item and using a Page Branch with the Branch Point set as On Submit: After Processing(After Computation, Validation, and Processing) with the Page set to 0 and the Request set to PRINT_REPORT=REPORT
Is there any way to set the item value on the page before branching to the report?

You can do that as follows:
1- create a hidden text item (P20_date_hidden) with default value set to sysdate.
2- for your button >> edit >> Buttom display attributes >> attributes >> type in : onFocus= "set_date();" (( note: am using onFocus because it takes places before onClick ))
3- In your page >> edit >> HTML header >> type in :

Delivery completed" indicator cannot be set for item 00001

I have done a inter company stock transfer order , with respect to that Order I made Outbound delivery and posted GR with respect to outbound delivery. I have done MIRO for PO for all the Item ,
Now I need to return some material to supplying plant for some reason, I tried to make GR (MIGO) against the same outbound delivery with movement type 122. the document is posted but when I tried to make complete delivery indicator it does not allow me to do so .
it says me
Delivery completed" indicator cannot be set for item 00001
   Message no. 06 848
Diagnosis
   You have set the "delivery completed" indicator for a stock transfer item.

   You can only set the "delivery completed" indicator in stock transfer items if
   o   the sum of the goods issue quantities in the supplying plant equal the sum of the goods receipt    quantities in the receiving plant.
   o   the sum of the delivery note quantities is equal to the sum of the goods receipt quantities.

I dont think you need to set "delivery completed" indicatory while returning from one plant to another.
For example : You ordered 100 qty. and you are receving only 80 Qty. and you don't expect any receipts anymore. in this case you want to close the open purchase order with delivery completed indicator.
But while returning to vendor or to another plant you are not referring the P.O directly and hence you dont need "delivery completed indicator'

Update the set of item category in IMG

Hi All,
When I am trying to update the set of item category, here is the path that I'm using in the IMG:
Sales and Distribution/Basic Functions/Account Assignment-Costing/Revenue Recognition/Set Revenue Recognition For Item Categories. When I go to the detail to update the item category, even in the change mode, the fields are not available for updates.
Please help me, is this any configuration issue?
Its not even a authorization issue because user has the sap_all and sap_new.

HOW TO SET A ITEM DEFAULT VALUE to today

I have a item using select list and I like to set this item default value as
today's date , such as "select to_char(sysdate,'YYYY-MM-DD') from dual"
HTMLDB failed recongnize the default value, or throw error Error ERR-9132 Error in PLSQL expression for item default code, ...". I have tried each of 3 avaialable Default Value Types
Per http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=443287, it is used to be doable, but the default value type (sql) is no longer avaialble in HTMLDB 2.0
I would appreaciate it very much if anyone has successfully done this before, either set to today or current month

Ching - Did you try a PL/SQL Expression using to_char(sysdate,'YYYY-MM-DD')?
There have been no changes to the item default types available in HTML DB. The thread you referenced is for Oracle Portal, a separate and unrelated product.

Parent Child Value Sets for Item Categories

I've tried to set up parent-child value sets, not independent-dependent sets for Item Categories but in vain. So, if Item Category has 2 segments - Category & Sub-Category; Sub-Category only shows valid values for a category. For example, if Category is 19 (Tools), the LOV for 2nd segment would only show 28 (Large Tools), 29 (Heavy Tools) etc.
Creating an independent-dependent combination displays all values for the independent & dependent sets.
Just looking for help here.

Basically, this is what we were looking for -
The category structure is
Equipment 1 - Spare 1,
Equipment 1 - Spare 2,
Equipment 2 - Spare 1,
Tools - Large,
Tools - Small,
etc.
When selecting Codes for this structure, if I choose 'Equipment 1' for 1st segment, LOV for 2nd segment would only show 'Spare 1', 'Spare 2'. Similarly, If I choose 'Tools', I only see 'Large', 'Small' for Segment 2.

From your description, I know you want to change content type’s parent after creating it.
There is no OOB method to change content type’s parent after you create it. If current content type has not been used, you could delete it and recreate it with your desired base type. Here are similar cases:

Release date set to 1/5/11 for all podcasts and iTunes U files

I have an ongoing problem with iTunes on my MacBook Pro where the release date is set to 1/5/11 for all podcasts and iTunes U files. Although I can seemingly correctly sort by release date, the date is the same across all files. Can someone advise as to how I might go about correcting this such that the actual, proper, release date is shown? Thanks in advance for the help! - mvrb

See below some additional info:
I have 3 Macs:
1 X MBPr 2012 (OS X 10.9.1
1 X MBPr 2012 (OS X 10.8.5)
1 X iMac 2009 (OS X 10.8.5)
1) All 3 Macs have access to same accounts and have same apps in iTunes.
2) Problem is only found on both MBPr's 2012 with one NL and 1 US account. With one NL account (inactive) I have no issue on all three.
FYI I have multiple iTunes accounts: 2 for the Netherlands and 1 for US.
I also tried this after deleting the only 2 apps I got from the US iTunes Store but that did not solve my issue.
I think the matter is related to my iTunes account(s) and NOT to a computer (prefs file)

Set hidden item in Javascript

I am having a hidden page item P4_SELECT in my page. I am trying to set this page item with a value in javascript function.

Strange Case..!! How 2 set an item as a master block to it's db items block

2-the other related items in the same data block r changed record each time i navigate to the next record but this item is never changed in this case only if i re-entered another value as (master-detailed rel.). i tried to copy the value of this item to a display item called 'Temp' but it is changing according to the records frequency by default

Hello everyone,
This issue was solved as:

1-i created a separate db block
2-created a text item called 'TEMP' with db=NO
3-In the db block that i want to deal with it as:Master item to it's other related detailed items to that item which is called 'LAB_TEMP' ;
* Copy value from property: TEMP.
By this way i could entered a value i the ndb item called TEMP once & consequently this value is entered copyed 4 each new record i entered.
This is an intial solution works fine at least 4 now, a Fried helped me with this i would like 2 share this info 2 others may be a new idea would help...

Setting up item level security access

Hello,
I am new to Oracle Instant Portal and I'm trying to figure out how to set up item level security on a particular tab page. Can anyone give step by step instructions on how to make it work?
So, say that I have a tab page called HR. On that HR page, I have 3 items. For item1 and item2, I want user1 to have view access to these only, and for user2 they could have view access to item3 only.
I checked the option in the HR page's Page Access settings to Enable Item Level Security, saved the changes, and even cleared the cache, but it doesn't seem to give me any new functionality where I could specify that for item1 and item2, only user1 should have access to it, and for item3, only user2 should access it.
Can someone please help?

Please disregard--I figured out how to do this:
1. When you are editing the page, you must click on the "Edit Item" icon next to the item.
2. Then click on the Access tab in the upper right.
3. Select Define Item Level Access Privileges and click Apply.
4. In the Grant Access section that now appears just below, select the user id you want to grant access to the item and then click Add.
