Setting charset in HTML generated by Reports 6i

How can I define charset in html generated by Reports 6i.
I need windows-1250 charset.
Adding the following line in Before Report Value does not help.
<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=windows-1250">
Note:
If I open that generated file directly from cache
file://localhost/C:/orant/REPORT60/server/CACHE/34446121.htm
it works???!

This sounds very odd - if you view the source of the HTML when it's returned to the browser is the charset tag set correctly?
There shouldn't be any difference between having the file streamed back and opening it directly (which you state works correctly).

  • Generate PDF report with HTML data

    Hi All,
    I am using BI Publisher to generate my reports but I stumbled on a big problem...
    I have a table with a column TASK_DESCRIPTION. This column is a CLOB containing a simple HTML coded page. When a user works with the application he sees a nicely formatted page but when I generate a report I get all the html tags in it (< html > < h4 > ...etc...)
    Is it possible to somehow convert the source data from the table (which is html code) into readable formatted text when generating the report?
    ANY ideas are very welcome!
    Regards,
    Pawel.

    Yes you can do this with an XSL template converting HTML to Formatting objects.
    There are a few catches however. First, you must be sure your markup-fragment is valid XHTML, that is all tags must be closed. Luckily the builtin standard HTML-editor does this.
    I wasn't able to call BI-publisher from within Apex without the XHTML-fragment being escaped, but i managed to create a query on a table containing the fragment within BI-publisher itself. This leaves the fragment intact, producing a valid XML-document.
    This is very important because the XSL attached to the RTF-template must be able to match and convert the XHTML-tags to FO.
    Basic setup :
    Create a datasource (query) within BIP.
    Create the RTF-template and add an extra field (at the top) containing : <?import:file:///C:\xhtml-to-xslfo.xsl?> or whatever location the XSL-file resides.
    Now, layout your report using the wizard and change the field containing the XHTML-fragment into <xsl:apply-templates select="TASK_DESRIPTION"/>
    There are a few XSL-templates out there converting XHTML to FO. One I found particularly useful : http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/library/x-xslfo2app/xhtml-to-xslfo.xsl
    You might want to change the .xsl so it matches tags case insensitive (eg. <xsl:template match="a|A"> )
    Another caveat is the html-entities for special characters. When the XML from the datasource is parsed by BIP it doesn't recognise entities like &Agrave ; .
    This can be solved by creating a pl/sql function converting these characters to numeric entities like &#192 ;. and use this function in the select statement of your datasource. see http://www.w3schools.com/tags/ref_entities.asp
    Now you can call the report from Apex using an URL to the report definiton (see BIP docs for URL syntax and parameter passing)
    Not a 'really' integrated solution but I had some nice results.
    It would be nice though if we could specify a .dtd containing the references for HTML-entities and a sort of flag wheter the report column should be escaped or not, from within Apex. This would allow us to embed XML-fragments within the XML that Apex produces, resulting in a valid XML doc. Using XSL, you can then match the tags of the XML-fragment and convert it to FO.
    Good luck !

  • How can we generate the reports in html or text file formats?

    Hi,
    Is there any package that can help in creating HTMLDB reports in .txt files or .html files? (Similar to TEXT_IO in Oracle Forms)
    How can we generate the reports in html or text file formats from HTMLDB?
    Thanks in Advance
    Renjith

    Hello all.
    Bi Publisher is great, but has a very high price tag. It's even more expensive than Forms & Reports Services. We are considering APEX to replace Forms & Reports on the web, but the reporting limitations are still a problem.
    I wonder if there is another option.
    Thanks

  • I generate file (PDF, HTML, etc) the report is empty but I run in paper

    Hi
    I use oracle Report10g
    When I generate file (PDF, HTML, etc) the report is empty but I run in paper design show data, the report in the paper design show many pages, when generate file show only the information of the margin in the main seccion and the body is empty,
    Thanks

    Thanks Daniel for pointing that out.  Though you answer is helpful but I am not sure if that is what I would want to do.
    The link you provide for csv says "For each report there's an _report.xdo file that contains the XML structure of the report... "   It suggests I modify the .xdo file for each report.  I currently have 16 reports.
    Does it mean I modify the .xdo file for all 16  and what happens if someone creates a 17th report ?
    Also, what if I run the same report using different input parameters will that change the xml structure for the report  and therefore will need me to modify the .xdo again ? (I think it should not change the xml structure so the answer should be "NO" to that, unless I change the structure of the report).
    Finally, the link you provide says after doing what it suggest  "Now log back into BI publisher and select the report. You should now be able to see that CSV is now an option."
    CSV should be an option where ? on what screen/page ?  Maybe PDF is already an option for me that I cant see because I do not know where that option is.
    I was hoping there would be something I could do on the xdo_metadata sheet (in the data constraints section or elsewhere) OR in BI Publisher itself as some property of the report.
    I will try out what you suggest any ways.

  • How to set static name and id for IFRAME html generated

    Hi,
    The name and the id of the Iframe is generated dynamically as shown in this example (final html generated):
    <IFRAME frameBorder=0 id="ivuFrm_page0ivu3" name="pb_837905732" title="Direccion Comunicaciones Integradas Home" src="home_direccion_comunicaciones_integradas.html" style="WIDTH:100%;HEIGHT:455px;" fixedHeight="455px" ></IFRAME>
    However, we need to link to this iframe using the  "target" property which has not been possible because we need static iframe name.
    Anny suggestions?
    THANKS.

    Hi,
    first of all  i think it is possible, you just need create a layout with nwds,  Thats possible in a .Par project you need this referance in portalapp.xml ;
    <property name="ClassName" value="com.sapportals.portal.pb.layout.PageLayout"/>
    after creating this  you need create a jsp file for coding, it is possible with writing this in portalappxml ;
    <property name="com.sap.portal.reserved.layout.TemplateFile" value="example.jsp"/>
    in this jsp page write this code:
    <%@ taglib uri="prt:taglib:com.sap.portal.reserved.layout.TagLibLayout" prefix="lyt" %>
    <%@ page import = "com.sapportals.portal.prt.pom.IPortalNode" %>
    <%@ page import = "com.sapportals.portal.prt.connection.IPortalResponse" %>
    <%@ page import = "com.sapportals.portal.prt.connection.PortalHtmlResponse" %>
    <%@ page import = "com.sapportals.portal.prt.util.html.HtmlDocument" %>
    <%@ page import = "com.sapportals.portal.prt.util.html.HtmlMeta" %>
    <%@ page import = "com.sapportals.portal.prt.util.html.HtmlTitle" %>
    <%@ page import = "com.sapportals.portal.prt.util.html.HtmlDocType" %>
    <%
    IPortalNode portalNode = componentRequest.getNode().getPortalNode();
    IPortalResponse portalResponse =
         (IPortalResponse) portalNode.getValue(
              IPortalResponse.class.getName());
    HtmlDocument htmlDocument = null;
    if (portalResponse instanceof PortalHtmlResponse) {
         PortalHtmlResponse htmlResponse =
              (PortalHtmlResponse) portalResponse;
         htmlDocument = htmlResponse.getHtmlDocument();
         com.sapportals.portal.prt.util.html.Html htm = htmlDocument.getHtml();
         com.sapportals.portal.prt.util.html.HtmlBody body = htmlDocument.getBody();
         body.getElement("iframe name");
    You can get elements and change, remove or add new elements to framework
    %>
    <table width ="100%" >
                       <lyt:template>
                           <tr>
                        <td width ="25%" align="center" valign="top">
                                <lyt:container id="column1" />
                           </td>
                        <td width ="50%" align="center" valign="top">
                             <lyt:container id="column2" />
                           </td>
                           <td>
                        <td width ="25%" align="center" valign="top">
                             <lyt:container id="column3" />
                           </td>
                      </tr>
                      </lyt:template>
              </table>
    After Deploying the layout, create a page with this layout and inculude the this empty  page to framework.
    İts should be work.
    Best regards.

  • How to generate a report from stored procedure

    I would like to generate a report from stored procedure.
    I used to work on sql server. this can be done as easy as put a select statement at the end of stored procedure.
    The resule can be displayed on the development IDE, like sql developer or consume by Java JDBC client.
    is there equivalent way to do this in Oracle stored procedure?

    Hi,
    What type of report you are looking..for.. ??
    As you said that "I used to work on sql server. this can be done as easy as put a select statement at the end of stored procedure. "
    When you execute it will return the result set and you will display directly on the FrontEnd.. Is my Understanding is correct Up to here.
    See, In oracle you have call some custom stored procedures as you did in SQL Sever, but you have return the Results Sets, with help of Out put paramter, Either Cursors or Varrays..
    or Else you can generate the Html reports based on your requirement, HTML can be used in the stored procedures of Oracle which will generate for your, you need to code it.
    I could not able get the relevant link for your reference.
    I will get back to you on this.

  • How to generate AWR report by using ttStats?

    Hi all,are there any links or documents to show how to use ttStats toolkit to generate a report like Oracle AWR report?
    If no links or document available, could you tell me how to use it?
    In fact I want to know how to do a performance analysis for my application and perform some tune.
    If any other toolkits are more suitable please let me know and of course the guide that how to use them is much welcome.
    Thanks.

    The ttStats executable can be found in the <TimesTen_home>/support directory. Before you can run the executable within a command prompt, you'll need to source the ttenv.* file in the <TimesTen_home>/bin directory.
    The output of ttStats -h is as follows:
    ttStats [-latchstats on|off] [-display-options] [-xml file]
    [-statlevel level] <dsn or connstr>
    ttStats -s[napshot] [-latchstats on|off] -xml <file> <dsn or connstr>
    ttStats -report <xmlfile1> <xmlfile2> <-text|-html> <report_file>
    Where parameters in <> are required, and in [] are optional.
    -display-options:
    This option only works in monitoring mode as
    screen filtering. ttStats only displays on the
    screen statistics with specified prefixes.
    Available prefix options include:
    -cg, -ckpt, -conn, -db, -grid, -lock, -log, -repl,
    -stmt, -txn, -xla, -zz, where the naming of prefixes
    conforms to naming of statistics in TimesTen
    sys.systemstats table. If no display option
    is specified, all statistics are displayed
    by default. For example, run command
    ttStats -cg -stmt dsn=TptbmData
    to display only cache group and statement
    related statistics.
    -h[elp] Print help message and exit.
    -interval <secs> Collect a set of statistics every <secs> seconds
    (default=10).
    Note: setting this lower can negatively impact
    performance
    -xml <file> Write statistics to <file> in XML format. All
    statistics will be written to <file> no matter
    whether they are displayed on screen or not.
    For example ttStats -xml mon.xml dsn=TptbmData
    and ttStats -xml mon.xml -cg dsn=TptbmData
    write the same file even if the latter only
    shows cache related statistics on the screen.
    -snapshot One snapshot of all statistics are saved to disk
    in the specified file format, then the program
    exits. This option should be used together with
    the -xml option.
    -statlevel <level>
    Set the SysStats level, this value of level only
    applies to sys.systemstats table.
    -report <xmlfile1> <xmlfile2> <-xml|-text|-html> <report_file>
    Compare two snapshots, and generate an AWR like
    report. At present, each XML file contains only
    one snapshot. The difference is computed as the
    absolute value of statistic value in <xmlfile2>
    minus that in <xmlfile1>. The result can be
    written in HTML and plain text formats. XML is
    not supported as output format at present.
    As an example, you can run the utility as the instance admin user by doing something like:
    ./ttStats -s -xml tmp.xml <DSN>
    You can then open tmp.xml with a web browser and see statistics about the database.
    You can also compare two previously captured snaps by doing something like:
    ./ttStats -report tmp1.xml tmp2.xml -html tmpReport.html

  • How to generate PDF report directly instead of RPT report by using JRC ?

    Hi,
    Good Day !
    How to generate PDF report directly instead of RPT report by using Crystal Reports XI Release 2 Java Reporting Component (JRC) in desktop (Swing thick-client) ?
    My GUI program will generate a RPT report, then i can export to PDF file, this is ok, no problem.
    BUT
    i want it direct to generate a PDF report, not a RPT report.
    The code like below (2 java files)
    ClassA.java
    ReportClientDocument reportClientDoc = new ReportClientDocument();
    reportClientDoc.open(XXX, 0);
    ParameterFieldController paramFieldController = reportClientDoc.getDataDefController().getParameterFieldController();
    paramFieldController.setCurrentValue("", "XXX", DomainClass.getXXX());
    new ReportViewerFrame(reportClientDoc);
    // End of ClassA.java
    // Begin ReportViewerFrame.java
    public class ReportViewerFrame extends JFrame
           //Initial window frame properties.
         private final int XPOS = 80;
         private final int YPOS = 60;
         private final int WIDTH = 760;
         private final int HEIGHT = 550;
         private ReportViewerBean reportViewer = new ReportViewerBean();
         private ReportClientDocument reportClientDoc = new ReportClientDocument();
         public ReportViewerFrame(ReportClientDocument reportClientDoc) throws    Exception
              //Initialize frame properties.
              this.setResizable(true);
              this.setLocation(XPOS, YPOS);
              this.setSize(WIDTH, HEIGHT);
              this.setTitle("Crystal Report Java Viewer");
              //Add GUI components to the frame including the ReportViewerBean.
              addComponents();
              //Add GUI listeners to the frame.
              addListeners();
              //Set the report that the ReportViewerBean will display.
              this.reportClientDoc = reportClientDoc;
              reportViewer.setReportSource(reportClientDoc.getReportSource());
              reportViewer.init();
              reportViewer.start();
              //Display the frame.
              this.setVisible(true);
    How to set the export option to PDF base on existing code ?
    Where can i download this package/jar ?

  • Generate AWR Report automatically every day

    Hi Friends,
    I would like to generate AWR Report automatically every day. How do i do it.
    The Start Time will be 00:00 of Previous day and the end Time will be : 00:00 of current day. The File format is html.
    Currently i am using awrrpt.sql to generate report manually and i would like to achieve it automatically,I am not sure how to pass the values of start and end time (From which table i can get the values)?
    Regards,
    DB

    Hi, DB.
    You may use the below sql script , the sql script generates the AWR report for the duration of 2 days in HTML.
    So you  change
    1) the where condition as per your requirement,
    2) report name in sql script,
    3) and convert it as shell or bat script based on your environment, and schedule it in your OS job scheduler / crontab.

  • Can I generate a report file in 'real-time'?

    Hello all,
    My question concerns reports in Teststand. Currently, the report is not generated and no results are saved until the entire execution is complete. This is OK if there are no problems during the execution (which can take several days), such as the PC locking up, etc. If this happens, the all the results are lost!
    This has happened twice now, so I was wondering if there's a way to set it up to record the results as the test is run, and generate the report file at the same time. Basically, so if a problem crops up, we can reboot the machine, or restart the testing, and all the results we had before the problem will be recorded.
    I'm probably making this way more difficult than it needs to be!
    Thanks in adva

    Dave,
    I am doing all our report generation in text mode, as I didn't want to use the html format for legacy reasons. Without looking at your implementation I cannot say why it's doing what it is... However, I know that I talked with NI Tech Support when I implemented this example over a year ago, so they should be able to help with getting the example to work with the default process model. You should be able to set some break points to see what's happening in the process model after each step to see why you're not seeing any results on the fly. I do remember that it required some copying and pasting from several sections in the process model. Once you get it running properly, stepping through it should give you a good idea of where you'd want to ad
    d a routine that writes to a log file as the tests are conducted.

  • Page breaks in (html) printed apex report

    I am having a strange problem that appears to be related to APEX page template.
    I have a report that is html generated by a PL/SQL function. I need to have page breaks in the printed report at specific locations. I am adding this style to the html output of the function:
    <STYLE>
    DIV.pageBreak { page-break-before: always; }
    </STYLE>
    and I insert this at the locations I need breaks:
    < D I V CLASS="pageBreak"/>
    (without the spaces in DIV)
    (found this technique here: http://www.unagibay.com/DesktopDefault.aspx?tabindex=1&tabid=100&itemid=1821 )
    This works perfect when I run the report in IE, but FireFox is "ignoring" the page breaks. However, if I take just the output of the PL/SQL function in an html doc, FireFox works fine (breaks at the proper places). This makes me believe something related to the "page wrapper" content generated by APEX causes FireFox to not handle the breaks.
    I have tried copying and editing the Popup and Printer Friendly page templates, but I either remove too much and the page doesn't render, or the page breaks don't work.
    My questions for the APEX gurus are:
    1. Is there an "approved" way to get page breaks in the printed version of an APEX report, or is there a better way to do what I need to do.
    2. What is the minimum contents for a page template (what can I safely remove).
    Thanks,
    Bill

    Hi Owen,
    the page breaks are inserted before/after the section.  Expand the report structure window and make sure that the properties window is open below.  Once you click on the section part, you will see where you can insert the page breaks - the check boxes will appear in the properties.
    yes on the second part - just insert the page break between the data providers and then repeat the header for the data provider on the pages (also check boxes on the properties tab)
    Good luck

  • Generating a report from RTF template using WSDL from ADF

    Hi,
    I am a newbie to ADF-BIP integration.
    I am using the wsdl http://<<ip>>:<<port>>/xmlpserver/services/PublicReportService?WSDL for generating a report from RTF Template in ADF.
    We are using Oracle Business Intelligence Publisher Release 11g (11.1.1) and JDeveloper 11g (11.1.1.5.0).
    I have a couple of merge variables in my RTF template and I am passing these variable using Report Request parameters.
    below is code I added for creating the report request.
    First I created publicReportService using webservice proxy.
        public static ReportRequest getReportRequestFromBIPWithTemplate(String reportFolderOnBIP,
                                                            String reportName,
                                                            String outputFileFormat,
                                                            String template,
                                                            HashMap params) {
          String reportAbsolutePath = reportFolderOnBIP + "/" + reportName + ".xdo";
          ReportRequest repRequest = new ReportRequest();
          System.out.println("report path:  " + reportAbsolutePath);
          repRequest.setReportAbsolutePath(reportAbsolutePath);
          repRequest.setAttributeTemplate(template);
          repRequest.setAttributeFormat(outputFileFormat);
          repRequest.setAttributeLocale("en-US");
          repRequest.setSizeOfDataChunkDownload(-1);
          System.out.println(params.size());
          ParamNameValue[] paramNameValue = new ParamNameValue[params.size()];
          ArrayOfParamNameValue arrayOfparamNameValue = new ArrayOfParamNameValue();
          Set set = params.entrySet();
          Iterator iter = set.iterator();
          int i = 0;
          while (iter.hasNext()) {
            Map.Entry me = (Map.Entry)iter.next();
            System.out.println(i + "--->>>" + me.getKey() + " : " + me.getValue());
            paramNameValue[i] = new ParamNameValue();
            paramNameValue.setMultiValuesAllowed(false);
    ArrayOfString values = new ArrayOfString();
    if (me.getValue() == null) {
    values.getItem().add("");
    } else {
    values.getItem().add((me.getValue()).toString());
    paramNameValue[i].setValues(values);
    paramNameValue[i].setName((me.getKey()).toString());
    arrayOfparamNameValue.getItem().add(paramNameValue[i]);
    i++;
    repRequest.setParameterNameValues(arrayOfparamNameValue);
    return repRequest;
    I generated report response bytes using below code
    {code:java}
    repRes = publicReportService.runReport(repReq,userID,password);
    reportStream = repRes.getReportBytes();I could see the generated PDF but the supplied variables are NOT reflected in place of merge variables.
    Ex: In template
    Welcome, <<merge variable, userName>>
    {code}
    Generated PDF should have
    {code:java}
    Welcome, Hello World
    {code}
    Instead of the above I am getting
    {code:java}
    Welcome,
    {code}
    I am looking for a suggestion, Please help me in this regard.
    Thanks,
    Satya
