  • Changing Date Format in Dashboard prompt drop down list

Hi friends, my dashboard shows a drop down list for dates , which are in format "7/1/2008 12:00:00 AM".
This is defined datetime datatype in sql server. Is there any way to change the date format in dashboard prompt to just "7/1/2008" without doing it in database side.
    Appreciate your help.
    Thanks and regards

    Hi... Toony
In Dashboard Prompt, you have option to select i.e. show SQL,
there you write the Logical SQL or Advanced SQL: <em>select cast("timestampCOLUMN" as date) from "PresentationLayerName"</em>
this is simple way without changing anything in rpd side...
And if you want the timestamp column somewhere in some reports you can use that column directly.
If you don't want you need to cast it as DATE.
If your question was answered then put it as answered and mark it as correct... ;)

  • Change date format in dashboard promt and calendar

    hi,
do any one know how to change the date format when using the calendar option in dashboard prompt. As the user picks a date from the calendar the format becomes DD-MM-YYYY. The customer would like YYYY-MM-DD!!
    Any suggestions?

Hi Jose, i tried to update the settings in the NQSConfig.INI file, but there was no luck.
I would like to mention my issue here again.
I have a dashboard prompt built on a Date Column and I would like to see it as a Calendar Type. The value of this prompt is save in a variable pDate.
In the answer, i have a filter on a date column(This is exactly the same column used to build the Prompt). The filter i set as Advance SQL Filter as I want to use the TimeStampAdd function.
    The filter is set as Date_Key = TimeStampAdd(SQL_TSI_DAY, -6, '@{pDate}')
The above request when ran from the dashboard, gives me the following error:
    Error Codes: OPR4ONWY:U9IM8TAC:OI2DL65P
State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 17001] Oracle Error code: 932, message: ORA-00932: inconsistent datatypes: expected DATE got NUMBER at OCI call OCIStmtExecute. [nQSError: 17010] SQL statement preparation failed. (HY000)
    SQL Issued: SELECT Calendar."Time Id" saw_0, "Sales Facts"."Amount Sold" saw_1 FROM SH WHERE Calendar."Time Id" = TimeStampAdd(SQL_TSI_DAY, -6, '01/01/2002 12:00:00 AM') ORDER BY saw_0
My understanding is that the Calendar control is populating pDate variable in 'mm/dd/yyyy hh:mi:ss' Format, while the TimeStampAdd function expect the variable as 'yyyy-mm-dd hh:ss:mi' Format.
Is there any other place that we need to update on the server that will force the Calendar to return the prompt value in 'YYYY-MM-DD HH:MI:SS' Format ?
    Thanks

  • Date format problem - dashboard prompt - presentation variable

    Hi,
I've created a dashboard prompt on a date and defined a presentation variable.
In my report I make use of the following object : TimeStampAdd(SQL_TSI_MONTH,-12,date '@{pv_afw_start_date}' )
My report works when making use of a drop down list, but when I want to make use of a calendar to select from, I receive the following error
*A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 46047] Datetime value 17/11/2009 from 17/11/2009 does not match the specified format. (HY000)*
Is there a difference in the date formats used by the prompt type (drop down list, calendar, ..)? And how you can align them..
    Txs for your help.

Timestampadd ask for a timestamp not for a date.
    Check here :
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12103_01/books/admintool/admintool_SQL14.html
    The syntax is :
TimestampAdd(SQL_TSI_DAY, 3, TIMESTAMP '2000-02-27 14:30:00')You may have to change your prompt to retrieve a timestamp.
Where do you use your formula ? In a formula column ?

  • Issue with presentation variables, dashboard prompt and filter

    Dear Guru's,
I have a question about constraining a request with presentation variable set by a dashboard prompt. I have a dashboard prompt, that stores its value in a presentation variable . The prompt is about region. When the dashboard opens, the default of the prompt is all choices and it needs to show my reports with "All Choices". I've created the following filter on my two reports on the dashboard:
    "Dim Student"."Region" = '@{variables.GILLES}'
    or '@{variables.GILLES}' IS NULL
One report is just the column "Dim Student"."Region" (to see if it works) and with this report the above filter works just fine. When nothing is prompted it shows "All Choices" when a choice is made the report responds accordingly.
    BUT
The second report on my dash with the same region column, but extended with some time dimension columns and a measure gives an error which I'm not able to solve.
+State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 14023] None of the fact sources for ToDate(# Feitelijke Instroom:[DAggr(Feit Instroom en Uitstroom Opleidingen.# Feitelijke Instroom by [ Dim Tijd.Maand Omschrijving, Dim Tijd.Maand Nummer, Dim Tijd.Jaar, Dim Kwalificatie.Kwalificatie Niveau, Dim Leerling.RCBREGIO Regio] )], [Level JAAR]) are compatible with the detail filter [Dim Tijd.Maand Nummer = 3, Dim Tijd.Jaar = 2010].+
    +(HY000)SQL Issued: SELECT "Dim Tijd".Jaar saw_0, "Dim Tijd"."Maand Nummer" saw_1, "Dim Tijd"."Maand Omschrijving" saw_2, "Dim Kwalificatie"."Kwalificatie Niveau" saw_3, "Dim Leerling"."RCBREGIO Regio" saw_4, "Feit Instroom en Uitstroom Opleidingen"."# Feitelijke Instroom Cumulatief" saw_5, REPORT_SUM(saw_5 BY saw_0, saw_1, saw_2) FROM repos_x WHERE ("Dim Tijd".Jaar = 2010) AND ("Dim Tijd"."Maand Nummer" = 3) AND (("Dim Leerling"."RCBREGIO Regio" = 'Noord-Oost') OR ('Noord-Oost' IS NULL)) ORDER BY saw_0, saw_1, saw_2, saw_3, saw_4+
While the exact same report but without the "or '@{variables.GILLES}' IS NULL" doesn't throw any errors but doesn't show the "all choices" by default.
The ultimate goal to achieve is to build a dashboard with several reports from several subject areas with one single prompt that opens default with "all choices" and constrains the reports accordingly.
    Any help is highly appreciated.
    Kind Regards,
    Gilles

    Phani,
I know "All Choices" is a special value and that it doesn't represent NULL. My filter construction seems to work fine.
    My filter condition:
    "Dim Student"."Region" = '@{variables.GILLES}'
    or '@{variables.GILLES}' IS NULL
When it's set by the prompt it filters the request accordingly (first condition evaluates to true), when it's not set the second condition evaluates to true and shows all the results (or it's not filtered).
The problem is that it doesn't work when time dimensions are combined with this filter. Then it throws the error mentioned in the first post.
By the way: your suggested solution doesn't work.

  • Can I pass parameters from a dashboard via a dashboard prompt and presentation variable to publisher report based on a data model with select statements in OBIEE 11g ?

I have a publisher 11g (v 11.1.1.7)  report with a single parameter. The report is based on a data model not a subject area.  I created a dashboard put a dashboard prompt and link to the report in separate section on the same page.  The dashboard prompt sets a presentation variable named the same as the parameter in the report.
The problem was when I created the dashboard prompt, it forced me to select a subject area which I did (though did not want to) and then I created both a column and variable prompts. But clicking on the
report link completely ignored the value that I thought would be passed in the presentation variable to the report.
Side note :  My report uses a pdf template for its layout where I have mapped the columns names from my data model to the form fields on the pdf form.  I noticed that if I create a publisher report based on a subject area, then I do not have the choice to choose a PDF as a template type for my layout.  (I only see BI Publisher Template as a choice).
I see some documentation online that suggest it could be done in 10g.
    Thanks
    M. Jamal

    Ok,
I just tried that and it still doesn't pass anything to the prompt.
I changed the prompt to an edit field and I made the following weblink but when i click the link from an account it doesn't put anything in the prompt and all data for all accounts is shown.
This is the URL maybe I messed something up...

  • Hide values on dashboard prompt and set defaults

    I have a prompt with 3 values,
    1) Year-Qtr
    2) Year-Qtr Start Date
    3) Year-Qtr End Date
2 and 3 are constrained based off of what is in the Year-Qtr drop down. How can I get 2 and 3 to automatically have the values set and also be hidden to the user.
    Is this possible?

Check this thread out for different ways of hiding dashboard prompts which is already posted in our forums:
    Hide dashboard prompts
And regarding the populating the default values based on the value selected in the other prompt is not possible. The default value will always be a hardcoded vaule which can be in the form of presentation variable or sql results or an expression.
    Hope it helps
    Thanks

  • Urgent- How to Default Current Months First Date in a Dashboard Prompt

We have requirement that whenever our user clicks on a dashboard it should show the report associated with the dashboard defaulted to MTD.
For example if the user is running the dashboard on 16th Jan then the report associated with dashboard by default should show data from 1st Jan to 16 Jan.
And then latter user should be able to select the dates of his choice in dashboard prompt and the report should show data according to selected date.
Please send some clues or work around for this issue.

    Regarding Question 2:
What you need to have is a Dashboard scope dashboard prompt for Product_ID (i.e., Don't use the column prompt from the prompt tab within the Request.)
    1) Create the dashboard prompt, put it on tab1 and save the prompt to a presentation variable, say prmtProdID. Set the scope to "dashboard." (This is the default, by the way.) If you create a dashboard prompt and set the scope to "dashboard," then the prompt values selected will hold true across dashboard pages.
    2) On tab2, go to your report and in Criteria mode, apply a filter to the Product_ID column making it equal to the PV. (Click the filter icon, Add>Variable>Presentation Variable and type prmtProdID. Save.)
When the user selects a Product_ID on tab1 of your dashboard and hits "Go," not only will it filter your report on tab1, when you go to tab2 the report here will be filtered with the same value selected in the prompt on tab2.
    Regarding Question 3:
If you implement 2, you cannot implement 3. You can't have it both ways. Not for the same scenario. But if you want to know how to do it in general, read this:

  • Problem About Date Format in Dashboard

    Hi All:
I still have problem about date format in dashboard and dashboard prompt. When I use cast(dealdate as date) in dashboard prompt(coloumn formula of deal_date) and filter view(In edit view of filter coloumn formula) Then It converts the date format from mm/dd/yyyy to yyyy-mm-dd But I want format in dd-mm-yyyy.
ANd also one problem more that is when I use cast function in filter coloumn formula then how I give alias to it. Because it shows same like that cast(deal_date as date) on dashboard filter view.
Pluzz help me to solve this problem
    Haroon

Changing the ini files should change the date format. Have you amended the correct instances of the date format? In dbFeatures there is one for every ODBC connection.
    For example in my DBFeatures.INI
    [ DATA_SOURCE_FEATURE = ODBC_300 ]
    DATE_FORMAT = 'dd-mm-yyyy' ;
         TIME_FORMAT = 'hh:mi:ss' ;
         DATE_TIME_FORMAT = 'dd-mm-yyyy hh:mi:ss' ;
IDENTIFIER_QUOTE_CHAR = '"';Also a file on the presentation side in OracleBI \web\Config called localedefinitions.xml.
Inside that there appears to be defaults for localisations - maybe it is possible to amend your locale in the Administration settings of the dashboard.
However, I haven't tried this sorry.

  • Dashboard Prompt to filter multiple Subject Areas (in a Combined Analysis)

I have a Combined Analysis where I am combining multiple Subject Areas. I want to add this report to a dashboard to use a dashboard prompt to filter by the Year.
The problem I have is because the 'Year' value in each subject area has a different Column Formula ("Close Date"."Calendar Year" and "- Custom Number/Integer (Custom Object 2)".INDEXED_NUM_0)) I'm unable to have a single 'Year' prompt filter both Column Formulas.
I have it currently working by creating two dashboard prompts - one for each subject area - that each ask for the Year to filter by.
Is there a way to have a single prompt for Year and somehow have that filter both subject area's 'Year' value?

I have tried a bit with no luck.
In the Dashboard Prompt on that 'Year' filter I set the Presentation Variable to 'FILTER_YEAR'.
I then set the filter in the report to be Equal to a Presentation Variable with the Variable Expr set to 'FILTER_YEAR'.
When I run the report and enter the filter year it doesn't bring back any data for that report.
Anybody have experience using the Presentation Variables?
    Thanks
