Setting Default Url At User Level? Help !!

Hi-
After a user logs on .. I would like to point that user to a specific default url .. if I specify the default url at the domain level:
manage domains
select domain
select user tab
show advanced settings
delete default url: /DesktopServlet
add new url
It works fine when the default url is set at this level .. problem is it then points EVERY user who is a member of that domain to the specified url ..
Logically.. one would think that the correct approach would be to specify the defaul url for a particular user at the user level:
manage domains
select domain
select role
select users
click username
click user tab
show advanced settings
delete default url: /DesktopServlet
add new url
However, when this approach is used .. the user is sent to:
/DesktopServlet
in spite of the fact that the users default url had been set to a specific url other than:
/DesktopServlet
Question:
Is it possible to set a users default url to a specified url and have it only affect that user?
If so .. how?
Does anyone have any recommendations as to how to make this work?
Essentially .. I would like to create a domain with multiple users and have each user within that domain sent to a distinct and unique url .. how can I accomplish this objective?
And if it simpy can't be done .. please let me know .. it would be much appreciated .. Happy Holidays .. to all ..

Thanks for your response .. as it is .. I was able to accomplish the stated objective by using the Url Scraper to point each user to a page containing a meta-refresh tag which causes the desktop to appear for a fraction of a second before the user is advanced to the desired url .. sans the desktop and with the secure lock in the right hand corner .. thanks again for your response .. much appreciated .. jesus ..

Hi!
Does anyone know how to set the default member in User POV Preview for first time users?
Example:
For dimension Entity, the default member that appear in first login of user is the Top Level member "Dim_Entity", regardless of security. It happens with all first time users.
We already try to change the User POV in Preferences, but this only limit the choices of user and didn't set the default member.
We are using version 11.1.1.3.

How to set default value to user attribute in customized information tab

Hi Experts,
we created a custom attribute in Administration-managed custom attributes and now we are getting that attribute under customized information tab in user admin->identity management.
This attribute is coming for all users and it is working fine and I can give value to this attribute also.
Now the problem is we have more than 10000 users in the portal and we have to assign same value to this custom attribute to all the users.
Is there any possiblity of setting the value to all the user without coding.
If it is not possible then how can I proceed for coding.
any help will be appreciated.

Yes my data source is LDAP. This attribute is added in the portal itself and I don't think it is possible to set the value of custom attribute at LDAP.
Shanta : We already created the custom attribute and it is also appearing in the Customized information
Problem is we need to set a value to that attribute. This should be same to all the users coming from LDAP.
My Basis people are asking the funtion module which calls when we click on the Customized information tab. Is that possible to know?
Or we can set this value by writing a piece of code in webdynrpo java?

Set default timezone for users

Hello all,
I am looking a for a way to set the default timezone of a user on the Portal. What needs to be done is to read the user's local time on the pc and set the timezone on the Portal accordingly. Does SAP provide any solution for the same?
I am aware that this can be achieved through custom development, but would like to check if anyone has faced similar issues before and if there exists a standard solution from SAP that I can implement.

Here is the problem though. Our employees are all over the globe and travel all over the globe. We use an LDAP as the UME source. Setting the default time zone via either of those method will blanket apply to all users. This leaves there UWL items in the wrong time and their KM content in the wrong time, sometimes indicating that something posted just minutes ago was actually posted "Yesterday".
I think what we need ultimately is a client aware solution. Perhaps a java program that gets the users client or browser time and updates their time zone in the UME on the fly.
Anyone know of such a solution?

There's a way to add entries to that table.
Go to the table ESDUS through SE16N and activate the editing mode by entering &SAP_EDIT in the command field. It will give you information message in the bottom "SAP editing function activated" ("Maintain entries" check box will be visible).

Stay in SE16N and in the field "Act." enter RM06BA00 and execute. You'll see all the users who executed the ME5A (a.k.a program RM06BA00) and the default variant SAP selects is "SAP&STANDARD" which is a system variant, in the "Active" field. Change that value to what user want to be defaulted. Keep the value 'USERVARIANT' in the El. field. Click save on the top. It will popup a window records inserted, deleted, changed. Just hit enter.
Now whenever the user executes it will be defaulted to whatever you rewrote in the table.
Caution: Do not use &SAP_EDIT with other tables especially which share common primary keys it can serious problems in your database.

CUP user import: what XML field to use to set default ACLs for user?

Can someone please tell me what XML tags to use within the import file (via CUP) to set the default Document and Folder ACLs respectively to Public and Protected.

The issue eventually resolved itself, I still don't really know why. I kept up with Windows update, and attempted downloading iTunes again from the Apple website, and it just... worked. It now works fine. I don't know why it took approximately 4 months to work, though.
I'm sorry I don't have any more helpful information. Posting here was my last resort, and clearly Apple never bothered to reply.

How to set default values for boolean columns

I'm trying to deploy some content types and columns into a site with a feature. All it's ok, except that I'm trying to set a default value for boolean columns with no success.
I've tried to set default value at column level:

How can I set default dashboards for users on startup? I mean always a user start OBI,one (default) dashboard should be shown...How can I set this property? Can anyone tell me in detail?

You can set the default dashboard for user.
After logging with the user in OBI Answers Goto-->Settings on right top corner then click on My accounts and there you will find default dashboard preference where you can set it.

Setting Default Dashboard based on Groups/users in OBIEE 10g

Hi,
I am having a requirement and facing some issues with setting a default dashboard option to the users who ever access the application. Below is the brief description of entire requirement.
The main requirement is to integrate OBIEE into a .net and silver light application. We will be having a 3 links in the .net application , which in turn displays the OBIEE reports and dashboards upon clicking the 3 links.
We are using the concept of Init blocks, session variables and Go URL from an OBIEE standpoint for accomplishing this integration requirement. We have also configured LDAP server in OBIEE.
The issue we are facing is out of the 3 links in .net application, we have one link/icon called dashboard icon which should display bunch of OBIEE dashboard pages in the form of 4 tabs but currently it is showing the My Dashboard home page. For this to achieve to set default dashboard page is to go to My account and change the default dashboard to the desired dashboard and log out and log in back to the application and we will be all set with dashboard pages being displayed upon lcking the dashboard icon but this is manual process for each user as they need to login into the .net application and change the setting s in My Account manually to change the default dashboard setting to the desired one.
How should I make sure, whoever is logging into the Application (every user) should be able to see the default dashboard pages without changing the options manually by going to My Account.
The LDAP server is taking care of the Authentication part of the users as every user record is maintained in Active directory which in turn is part of LDAP server.
To brief high level requirement on single statement is  how to make a default dashboard pages to users based on group in OBIEE. Is there any option in OBIEE, where we can change or set a default dashboard to particular group in OBIEE either in RPD or UI level.
Appreciate your help on this.

Changing User's default URL in Portal Server

Would appreciate if somebody can tell how to change the user's default URL. This is the URL to which user is forwarded to after authentication is over. By default this is the DesktopServlet. I have tried changing it in the Users profile, but it doesn't seem to work. Seems to get overridden by something
else. We are doing Ldap auth. Is there a properties file or something that has the info about forwarding? My guess is the Ldap authenticator is forwarding it to DesktopServlet without looking up the user's profile
setting.
We want to send it to our Servlet before redirecting it to the Desktopservlet.
Any pointers would be helpful.

Did you try at the domain level?
By logging into admin console, then click Manage Domains -> Select the Domain -> User -> Show Advanced Options and change User's Default URL.

Risk Analysis at user level shows nothing in all 3 views though at role level shows risks of global rule set

I am configuring ARA 10.1 for a ECC 6.0 plug in development system and facing this issue. Risk Analysis at user level shows no data in all 3 views though at role level shows risks of global rule set. I am using Global rule set. I generated all risks/functions & using connector group as SAP_ECCS_LG not SAP_R3_LG.I activated common, R/3 & ECCS BC sets. Added integration scenario for AUTH. Run all 4 sync jobs multiple times successfully. My system already has decentralised EAM 10.1 implemented & even used in production as BAU. I have checked at both chrome & IE. The misleading thing is that RFC is also working fine & I can see risks in Risk Analysis at role level & risky roles are even assigned to valid users.GRC is at SP4 & accordingly is the ECC 6.0 plug in. Assign ECC connector to SAP_ECCS_LG group.
Run the programs GRAC_PFCG_AUTHORIZATION_SYNCand GRAC_REPOSITORY_OBJECT_SYNC) in full synch mode(this might take time so better do this in background). Better do it sequentially.Check the logs of the jobs in SLG1 just to ensure everythings fine.
Run ARA for a specific user and mention the connector for faster output. Ensure this user has the role with risks.Also as explained earlier check the GUID against user id in table GRACUSERROLE and using GRACROLE you can find out the technical name of the role updated in the table. This should be same as the backend role.
Then run ARA and while doing so please ensure the selection screen doesnt have any unwanted default inputs. If followed correctly , this should be of help. I am assuming the role analysis yielded correct risks as configured since this would mean that connector have correct actions and basic config is in place.

Set Default Printer based on user setting using Powershell script

I would like to create a script that runs on user log off and captures the default printer (set manually by the user) and then another script to reapply the settings (saved upon log off) when the user logs back in.
This is because local printers are set as default printer (PDF Creator Programs) when we all use Network Printers so this means a user has to set default printer to the network printer all the time.
I have found this script to start with:
$Printer = Get-WmiObject -namespace root\cimv2 -Query “select * from Win32_Printer Where Default = TRUE” -Impersonation 3 | select name | out-file C:\temp\Printer.txt
But the out file looks like this:
name
\\PrinterserverName\Accounts01
Which I dont see how it can be used on another script plus there are spaces after\Account01
Any Ideas please?

According to your description, you want to export the default printer name to text file, then read this printer name from text file and set the default printer via Powershell:
#save printer name to text file
Get-WmiObject -namespace root\cimv2 -Query “select * from Win32_Printer Where Default = TRUE” -Impersonation 3 | select -ExpandProperty name | out-file C:\temp\Printer.txt
# read printer name from text file and set default printer

Default current user can’t be got in calculated column like Today. I suggest that use SPD Workflow described above or JavaScript. Open NewForm page of the list, then add “pageview=shared&toolpaneview=2”
to the page URL, click Enter to go to edit mode. Then add a Content Editor Web Part to the bottom of NewForm page, copy the code bellow into Source Editor of CEWP.
