Changing User's default URL in Portal Server

Would appreciate if somebody can tell how to change the user's default URL. This is the URL to which user is forwarded to after authentication is over. By default this is the DesktopServlet. I have tried changing it in the Users profile, but it doesn't seem to work. Seems to get overridden by something
else. We are doing Ldap auth. Is there a properties file or something that has the info about forwarding? My guess is the Ldap authenticator is forwarding it to DesktopServlet without looking up the user's profile
setting.
We want to send it to our Servlet before redirecting it to the Desktopservlet.
Any pointers would be helpful.
thanks
shekar

Did you try at the domain level?
By logging into admin console, then click Manage Domains -> Select the Domain -> User -> Show Advanced Options and change User's Default URL.

  • How to change users short name in 10.7 Server version?  Command line possible?

I just migrated from Snow Leo 10.6 Server to Lion 10.7 server.  All seems ok except for one user (me!).  It seems my short name is different.  It was Goerge Smith but now it is just George.   And All users can login and get mail etc, but not me.
I try to reset password using Updated Workgroup utiliity and new Server App, but the app refuses to allow rest of password or chnage of short user name.
All other users seem ok and their names, atributes, passwords can be easily reset.   So both Open Directoty and NDS ( all the normal cast of troublemakes) do not seem to be at issue.
Clearly something odd or unexpected happened in migration of Open Directory users and attributes.
How can I change my User Shortname Back to the correct one?  Or Any ideas why my Password is locked, and cannot be reset?
I have rebooted sveral times, all other functions seem normal and working?  Mystified!!   Help?

Someone in the Lion Server Forum might know?

I am not sure whether u got an answer for this..
But iplanet provides a web-link for end-users to change their LDAP password...u
can just give this link in ur app ..and iplanet will take care of the rest..

  • Can portal server customize theme?

Is it possible for portal server to let end users to customize theme besides changing the layout, content, etc (the portal server default features)? If possible, how to implement it? Anyone have any idea?

We don't ship a theme provider which you can use to change themes, however having said that you can write your own theme provider to change background. There was an unsupported theme provider written, you might wanna contact your local sales contact or tech support to see if you can get your hands on it and see if that provides what your looking for ..

  • Need some help with running portals on BEA Portal Server...

    Hi
I'm having a trouble with Bea Web Logic 9.2 portal server.
Every time I start a new domain and deploy EAR with web portal everything works just fine.
Than after some time (looks like it happens after new roles and users where added via Admin portal) server begins to show only empty pages when accessing my portals. Admin portal continue to work fine.
The problem can be resolved only by creating new domain.
Here is error shown in console (not sure if this error is connected to my issue)
SEVERE: A miss configuration of portal detected.
Page 'ps_page_main' doesn't exist in book 'ts_main_book', but is configured as default page
Thanks in advance for any help

If you guys have not run into such problem before, maybe you can just point me in the right direction have to investigating this issue by myself. I'm quite new with BEA and don't know even where to start looking.

  • Portal server has changed DNS zone, CM URLs not

    Hello,
we have a standalone server which changed from the DMZ to internal LAN. With this change the portal got a new DNS suffix and a new IP address. Now the portal is accessable but the acess URLs for CM repository objects having still the old DNS suffix in the URLs.
Has someone experience with changing DNS suffix of  a portal server? What must be changed for CM? (using EP 6.0 with KMC, SPS12)
    Thanks and regards
    Alex

    Hello,
found the solution: Systemadministration -> Systemkonfiguration -> KM -> CM -> Global Services (advanced mode!)-> URL Generator Service
Here I could change the Host entry to the new domain for all access paths of KM.

  • Service Packages are changing users default calendars

I'm currently testing Communications Suite 5 cal server 6.2 schema 2. I have everything up and running but I'm running into an issue with with assigning service packages to users though.
I created all the users from the command line and I used -k legacy option for the calendar. At this point everything is working fine the user calendars I imported from Cal server 6.0 schema 1 all show up and work like they should. Once I assign a service package to a user account it changes their default calendar to the hosted format. Now my users have two calendars their default (hosted format) which is blank and their imported (legacy format) that has all the calendar entries.
I've changed /opt/SUNWcomm/data/WEB-INF/classes/sun/comm/cli/server/servlet/ resource.properties from switch-caltype=hosted to switch-caltype=legacy and restarted the web container but no luck.
    Thanks for any help

  • Change URL of Portal favorites

    Hello,
Is there any way to change the URL of user favorites stored in KM?
I have a few BI users who have saved many BEX Portal favorites using Web Analyzer. Unfortunately due to a change in the portal role assignment he can no longer access his favorites and it shows page cannot be found.  The reason being we were earlier rolling our Portal roles and Reports using Portal Groups.  Users would be assigned to Portal groups which in turn would be linked to the individual Portal Roles.  Recently we started assigning Portal Roles directly to user ids.
Surprisingly and I dont know why the favorites link create by the users include the portal group id as well in the url.  We have to manually modify those favorites link so that the portal groups can be removed.
When I navigate to root->user home-> <user> -> favorites I have view all the favorites created by the user, I can modify and see properties but there is no way I can change the "Content Link"  URL path under the "Access Links" tab.  There is also a Miscellaneous tab which has a bookmark_id = D7NQ1PKD34N4RMYJ8MYUJCSTY and template_name = ZANALYSIS_PATTERN.
I tried searching the bookmark_id on the ABAP stack in table SMEN_BUFFC but no luck.
    Thanks
    Raj

    Hi Kundu,
I dont understand what you mean by "adding permissions"  please elaborate.  Are you talking about adding "Full Control" to the Favorite links?  Please note the user is able to see their favorites in the KM Portal Favorite iView but they cannot get to the page using the link stored in those favorites since the link has the name of portal group embedded in it becuase they were assigned to those portal groups before.  Now they are just assigned to the portal roles directly.

  • Two Urls for the same portal server

    Hi,
I have to access the same portal server for the two diffent url links.
This is required for me to have two different logon pages for the portal for completely different urls.
    Please share your ideas here!
    Ram

    Hi,
    say for example
    your one URL is
    x.hostname:portno/irj/1stURL
    and the second URL is
    x.hostname:portno/irj/2ndURL
and maintain two umLogonPagedefault.jsp with names,
umLogonPage1stURL.jsp and umLogonPage2ndURL.jsp and do the necessary coding you want inside the JSPs.
Now, umLogonPage.JSP is the JSP file responsible for determinig your portal URL to open when user wants to enter into portal. So Open that JSP(umLogonPage.JSP) and do like this:::
    <%
    String strReqURL = request.getRequestURL().toString()==null?"" : request.getRequestURL().toString() ;
    %>
    <%
    if ( strReqURL != null && strReqURL.endsWith("/1stURL"))
    %>
         <%@ include file="umLogonPage1stURL.jsp"%>
    <%
    else if ( strReqURL != null && strReqURL.endsWith("/2nuURL"))
    %>
    <%@ include file="umLogonPage2ndURL.jsp"%>
    <%
    %>

  • How can I change the default URL in hyperlink inspector

How can I change the default URL for link to external page in the Hyperlink Inspector?

You can't change the default url in the inspector.. but an easier way to do it rather than editing the box everytime you need to build a link is to copy the url you want to link to and then highlight the text or image that users will click on and then click enable hyperlink.. when you do that whatever the last url you copied using "command" "C" will automatically be entered into that box and replace "livepage.apple.com"
It saves alot of time if you are doing alot of links.
    Hope This Helps!

  • URL to public_html docs on the app server version of Portal Server 6.0

I recently switched from Portal Server 6.0 to the Portal Server version that runs under Sun's Application Server 7.
I want to create a bookmark that references a URL that is already located on the portal server itself.
I did this in the previous version by placing my files in a subdirectory under /opt/SUNWam/public_html/go/index.html
I could access the URL by creating the bookmark with the relative URL /go/index.html
This no longer works under the application server version of portal server 6.0. I tried placing my file in /opt/SUNWappserver7/SUNWam/public_html/go/index.html and referencing the file as /go/index.html
Anybody know what the new relative URL would be to access this document?

By golly, I figured it out.
In order to use the URL /go/index.html as the bookmark, the file needs to be placed in the "go" subdirectory off the default document root of the application server at /var/opt/SUNWappserver7/domains/domain1/server1/docroot/go/index.html

  • Changing the Name of an Open Directory Server while preserving users, etc.

    Hi Everyone,
Not an emergency - but I have been wrestling with this dilemma for almost a year now.
The good news is nothing has to be done right away. But I will ultimately need a solution.
We have inherited a server system at a traditional elementary school from a previous IT person who was immature to say the least.
When he set up the server system, he named the open directory server something that, while innocuous is inappropriate for a school setting.  I am sure he thought it was clever and cheeky at the time. But a few years later it is simply unprofessional. And we are being expected to ultimately be able to change it so something like "XXXdirectory.domainname.edu" The more it hangs around - the longer it looks like we did this and it makes us look unprofessional.
    So here is my dilemma.
This is an OD Master with iCal and network homes attached to it. It also runs DNS.
I would like to set up a new server and name it "xxxdirectory.schooldomainname.edu"
Setting up the new server is easy and getting all the client machines to bind to it - no problem.
The problem is how to migrate all the users to the new server.  It seems a restore wont work because if the new server is named differently, the restore will fail. I also can't do a server migration because the stupid name migrates to the new server.
My old server is 10.5.8 Server.  The new one is 10.7.1 Server . But could be 10.6.8 Server if need be.
The main problem is how do I get all the accounts onto a new server with a new OD master name?
I don't mind command line stuff. So throw whatever you got at me.
Thanks in advance for your help everyone.  Don't worry - I won't be a pain in the butt or argue.  I just need some good solid guidance, even if it is a "Not possible" answer - at least I have something to tell the administration when they want to know why we can't change the OD Master name from mcnugget.schoolname.edu.
Please let me know if you need more details.  I am happy to provide.
    Thanks again.
    Tony

If you don't mind resetting everybodies password then you can export the users and groups and wipe the server for a clean install or turn it into a standalone server then back into od master  then import the users and groups.
