Setting required property on pre-update trigger

i have set required property of 3 items on pre-update trigger of a block such that if user updates a listbox and if the updated value is 'P' for perentage then the user must fill all the 3 fields but even after setting the required property the record is saved if the fields are empty. the trigger is firing & everything looks ok. the portion of code i've used is:

put your code in when-listvalue-changed trigger for that 'P' trigger.
to put it in existng place is still too late.

The first question is do you know what the error message means?
It seems to be saying that you have a mirrored item, ie a field that it set to mirror the value of another. The error seems to indicate that it is not happy for this mirror item to have the required property set.
If you know this already, then sorry for the explanation, but you did not make it clear in the post.
I suggest to search for mirror items and see what properties they have, also see if you have a set_item property on said item that makes it required. I'm not sure from your description whether this happens at startup or after some event in the form.

Update Table statement in pre-commit trigger

Hi,
I would need to update one table before commit in the form and hence I need to write an update table statement in pre-commit trigger. Can anyone help me with the sample code or how sould i be able to write a Update table statement from form-level trigger. Normal update statement is throwing me errors.

I wouldn't recommend the PRE-COMMIT trigger unless it is your requirement to execute the UPDATE statement every time the form commits, whether it is updating or inserting or deleting.
Other wise you can use the PRE-UPDATE, PRE-DELETE and PRE-INSERT triggers; for this case you create a procedure under Program Units node in the Form's navigator that includes your "UPDATE" SQL statement and you call this procedure from the triggers you need to execute it from.
Example:
PROCEDURE UPDATE_MYTABLE IS
BEGIN
UPDATE MYTABLE SET MY_COLUMN1 = MY_VALUE1,
MY_COLUMN2 = MY_VALUE2,
MY_COLUMN3 = MY_VALUE3

Problem with changing required property based on another field using EL

Hi,
In my form, I want to set required property should be true or false for field 'B' based on value of field 'A'.
Value of 'A' is from 1 to 10 as choice list.
If 'A' value is 1 then i want i want to set required property of 'B' is false.otherwise the field 'B' should be required.
I set auto Submit to true for field 'A' and 'A' assigned as partial trigger for 'B'.
In required property of 'B', i given
#{bindings.ScheduleLevel.inputValue!=1}
Now, it is working fine if i try to change the list value of 'A' from 2 to 1 or 1 to 2 or more in the existing record.
But, if i click create button, then if i choose 1 for 'A', then the 'B' field is not changing from required to non-required.
my jdev version is 11g.
Any suggestions please.

This would not work as validations would fire before. So you will have to accomplish this using a valuechangelistener like this.
Keep a boolean variable which captures whether field is required or not let' say brequired
for field A
set immediate=true, autosubmit=true
then in value change listener of A you use the code as follows:-

Update record in Pre-update

Hi all,
I got the master-detail block, where only certain field in child block for which are allow to updated. Hence, i have the update statement in pre-update trigger.

I have this code in a PRE-INSERT-TRIGGER of a database table block:

And i have this code in a PRE-UPDATE-TRIGGER of the same block:

Everything works if there's no update of a record with higher record-number in the transaction. But the scenario in post 1 doesnt work with Forms 6.0.8.27.0Ugh -- that's ugly!
Unfortunately, opening a Service Request with Oracle will get you nowhere, since Oracle no longer supports Forms 6i.
Yesterday, I experienced something very similar with the same version of Forms, specifically this part: Everything works if there's no update of a record with higher record-number in the transaction.*
If I updated a higher record number in the block, I could NOT get Forms to subsequently store a value in a column in a prior record. I would set the value in the column, and immediately display the value, and it was null! Fortunately in my case, the stored value was only to enable skipping a database lookup in a subsequent pass, so I just skipped working on a solution.
However, in your case, the problem is a show-stopper.
What I found was that if I navigated back to the first record in the block, the problem went away. So maybe try this in your commit process:
    Go_block('ABC');
    First_Record;
    Synchronize;
    Commit_Form;Let us know if that works for you.

Pre-update checkbox

i have a check box on my form (possible values 'Y' or 'N'). i wanna use a pre-update trigger to be able to update this checkbox to 'D' only if column1 = 'D'. column1 is a column from data block. How can i do it in pre-update?

Am using LiveCycle 8.2.1x and Acrobat Pro Extended 9.1.2.
I want to change one control's "required" property based upon the user's input in/on another control (a drop-down list selection). Can it be done with FormCalc or Javascript? If so, how?

To make TextField1 mandatory

Pre-insert trigger is not firing after post built-in

I have a 10g form in which Post built-in is used in When-button-pressed Trigger. After the post command I am checking some condition,by using the same record which I have posted.But it is not working.
I have also put the message in the pre-insert trigger but the message is not displaying.
But the same form iis working fine in form 6i, as I have migrated the forms from form 6i to 10g.

Yes, In that block there are other items also. I have made the required property no for all the items.
what exactly we have is
(if x=y then)on some condition check
POST;
After that, form have a select statement in which it is selecting the same row which is being posted above.
if the select statement gives count of row zero
raise form_trigger_failure is fired.
and in the pre-insert trigger form is assigning a value to a block item.

I've got msi package, which has LaunchConditions based on VersionNT(64) property, but installer sets this property to 603 (corresponding to Win8.1\2012r2). I wrote custom action, where I call VerifyVersionInfo function, and on 9879 build it worked,
but starting from 9926 It doesn't. It seems that VerifyVersionInfo now requires proper GUID in manifest file, that is not possible for binary custom action. What is the proper way to detect Windows 10 version in msi package?

Exception: cannot set unrecognized property:

Hi guys,
I am doing a PoC of Connection between BPEL PM 10.1.3.4 running over WLS 9.2 SP3 calling a HelloWorld WebService (a very simple one without authentication or security) that is deployed over a WLS 10.3 server.
The problem is when I execute the BPEL process and it invokes the partner link that pointos to my WebService I get an exception of that type below.
Exception: cannot set unrecognized property: disable.must.understand on a Call object.
I looked inside the logs of AdminServer, ManagedServer and Domain Server and the output files and nothing new came in from them.
Any ideas? Please...

I think you took my comment out of context. I was referring to deployments on developer PCs to have a standalone version to play with. This is not common as it requires more PC power which not many people have.
10g and 11g are different products. In 11g you are correct SOA Suite is installed on WLS, as there is no 11g oc4j. So in that respect I would agree that WLS as the app server is mainstream.
In 10g I would have to disagree. It was a message that Oracle had to say that SOA Suite can be deployed on WLS and this was our stragic app server going forward. It would be a customer decision as to what path they would take. From my experience not many did this because the WLS version was 9.2 not the 10.3 which OSB ran on. There were limited customers to provide references on this architecture. Typically what we saw if customer were BEA customers they went down this path otherwise they went with oc4j. Oracle sold WebLogic Suite which included oc4j so from a licensing perspective they were covered, and technically they could run any Oracle product. For new licenses you needed WebLogic Suite as part of SOA Suite this does not mean that people deployed SOA Suite on WLS in 10g.
10.1.3.5 certification with WLS was going to solve the version issue as it is going to be on 10.3, but 10.1.3.5 was release after 11g and the WLS certifications still hasn't been released.
The 10g WLS deployment was never going to be like that in 11g so WLS customers would need the same kind of architectual changes and oc4j customer would have. The differnce being ops people would not need to learn oc4j so there would be less need for training.
But I would like to clarify my comment was for stand alone deployments on developer PCs, this is not common to have the WLS deployment.

Pre-Query Trigger

In one of our form ( we generated this from Oracle Designer), we put the Pre-Query trigger to the first block of the form, where we override the default_where so that it includes something liek this
INSTR (cpb_order_title, 'housing', 1, 1) > 0 AND INSTR (cpb_order_title, 'review', 1, 1 )> 0
But when during execution, we found that alongwith the above filter, it also appends the regular default_where to the above condition. Something like this
INSTR (cpb_order_title, 'housing', 1, 1) > 0 AND INSTR (cpb_order_title, 'review', 1, 1 )> 0
AND ( UPPER (cpb.cpb_order_title) LIKE :1
AND (cpb.cpb_order_title LIKE :2 OR cpb.cpb_order_title LIKE :3)
Could not find how it is adding the default condition. Any help would be very much appreciated.

I don't see anything in your code that would cause the new where clause to be appended to the original where clause, unless you have code somewhere else that automatically sets the default where clause programatically.
The fact that your code sample sets the block where clause to an empty string ( '' ) if the order_title is NULL makes me wonder why you have a DEFAULT_WHERE defined in the first place. Not to mention the fact that the first thing your Pre-Query trigger does is set the DEFAULT_WHERE to an empty string as well. My first suggestion is to simply eliminate the WHERE property default value.
What is the output of your call to "MESSAGE_POPUP?" Is the original WHERE clause listed in the resulting Alert? Have you displayed the contents of the vQuery variable before the DEFAULT_WHERE assignment and if so what it the output?

Update trigger ...problem

... i have following requirement for the update of person table
1) if address field is changed then i want to store old address information in one table and then replace the new address in person table
2) if fields other than address are changed then just new values get replaced in person table... ne need of storing old values any where...
how can i do that any idea..

There are two ways to do it, database triggers or form level triggers.
For database, u have to create a trigger on the table which will be executed only when the address field is updated, for example,
CREATE
TRIGGER <trigger_name>
BEFORE UPDATE OF <table_column> ON <table_name>
REFERENCING OLD AS old NEW AS new
FOR EACH ROW
BEGIN
do the right thing.......
insert into the old value in other table......
assign new values to the old one.........
END;
or u can use the on-, pre- or post update trigger at the form level after checking if the address field is changed and updated. See forms help for Get_item_property built-in Database_value.
