Setting Root folder when configuring J2EE Server

I'd like to know if it's possible to point the root folder to a remote server, i.e I'd like my Flex app to point to remote location.

I think we're all looking for the same information, so I hope someone sees these postings and can help us out. It would be nice to find out how to connect to a BlazeDS server on xyz.com from a client on abc.com. Or is it even possible? Before going that far, I wanted to figure out how to configure Flex so that the client and the server would not have to run from the same container. This what I did. If you build your project in Flex Builder, you can follow these instructions: http://livedocs.adobe.com/flex/3/html/projects_3.html#214351 You will then see a .flexProperties file in your project directory (not visible from the IDE, so go to the file system). I would like to know though how to accomplish the same through using the command line SDK compiler, w/o using Flex Builder. I can't find any documentation on this.

Hi, I am using Flex Builder 3 (trial version)...
While creating new project, i chose Application Server as "J2EE" , selected "Use remote object access service" and selected "LiveCycle Data Services"..
In the "Configure J2EE server" page, I unchecked "Use default location for local LCDS server.
I DONT KNOW WAT TO MENTION IN "Root folder"....
pls suggest me..
( By default "Root URL" is http://localhost:8700/flex/ )

Configure J2EE Server in FB4 beta

Hi,
I think, there are very serious problems with J2EE deployment in FB4 beta2.
1) Can not change or add or delete anything in "Target Runtime".
New button and "Show all runtimes" checkbox don't do anything.   "New" button gets disabled and no way to re-enable it.
Can't unistall Facets either.
Imported my Flex project from FB3. It produced error: "Target Runtime JBoss 5.0 not defined".
So I am going to project Properties/Target Runtime to remove old one and add a "new" JBoss 5.0.
Nothing works (see #1).
2) OK, trying to create a new Flex project, going through Create Flex project wizard.
On page "Configure J2EE Server" it is expecting Server location with existing WEB-INF/flex folder containing flex-config.xml or services-config.xml
But from where, some other existing project ?
Plus, JBoss5 forces you to work with non-exploded archives (WAR, JAR, etc)
How do you resolve that one ?
Am I missing something ?   Or is FB4 beta2 is completely unusable with JBoss 5.1 ?
Is there beta3 or nightly build where it is fixed ?

Say, I am developing an AIR2 app which has some Java part to it (remoting, Web Service, whatever),
with or without BlazeDS (or LCDS). Anything requiring Web Server (J2EE / servlet container).
How do I add new Server to FB4 beta2 ? Lets say Tomcat 6 or JBoss 5.1.
If I go to Preferences->Server->Runtime Environments, there is only one selection - J2EE Runtime Library (what is that?)
OK, I click Add, then link Download additional server adapters, and in a few seconds prompts for login/pwd for SAP Community Network.
I don't know any... so after I click Cancel, I can only choose Geronimo, GlassFish, Jetty, Weblogic, WASCE.
No Tomcat, No JBoss ?   Nothing like a long selection list in FB3 ?
Search for server runtime environments stops right away.   FB3 can find a dosen ones on my hard disk.
Is it a major hole in FB4 beta2 ?
Makes it pretty useless to me... :-(

When configuring a server the 'version' pull down is not populated

When configuring a server the 'version' pull down on the second tab is not populated preventing me from continuing.
Settings:
server name = cfusion
app server = Jrun
host name = localhost (or cfusion, same results)
port = 80
Context Root = /
app server name = cfusion
Server home = C:\ColdFusion9
doc root = C:\ColdFusion9\wwwroot
I am evaluating this for our development team. If I can't get it to work, no sale.

There is no way to avoid that the contentlib will be placed on the site server.
I don‘t agree that storage cost is high. It might be true for fast storage, but that‘s not needed for it.

When starting J2EE server PE8 on Linux

When starting J2EE server PE8 on Linux Fedora Core 1, the following message is displayed:-
"Unable to read system environment. No system environment will be used."
1. Is there any side effect to the J2EE server PE8 performance or functionalities about this warning message?
2. Is there any way to avoid this issuea in case it does have side effect?

Error when configuring Siebel Server in Windows server 2003

I am getting below error when configuring Siebel server in Windows server 2003 VM. All the ODBC connections and SADMIN user id & password and gateway host name and port everything correct. Able to ping and telnet to gateway port 2320. Please help on how to overcome this situation....

I created a web service in ECC and I want to test it via SOAMANAGER but when I clik on open web service for selected naviagator binfing it gives me an error
wsnavigator call WAS TERMINATED Because The Corresponding Service is not available.

To be able to use the Web Service Navigator to test a Web service, you need to set up a connection to a J2EE server, because the Web Service Navigator runs on the Java stack.
Procedure
Go to the Technical Administration tab.
Choose Global System Settings.
Choose the Web Services Navigator tab.

as spaces are not allowed. Most probably it will work.

I tried changing the port number from 1050 to 10590 (as shown in Sun site) but didn't help. Same problem.
One more thing, can this problem be b'coz of "Warning: This J2EE SDK release has only been tested on J2SE v1.3" this starting line on start of server.
Can anyone tell me, y am I facing this problem and how to solve it. Other applications like deploytool, cloudscape r running fine. I didn't try others.

You may want to try and use J2SE 1.3 instead of J2SE 1.4. This may alleviate your issue.

Then I tried other port numbers like 1051 and 1061, the same error kept coming. What is the best port number I should use or whatelse I should do to solve this problem? Thanks.

NoClassDefFoundError when starting j2ee server

Hi,
I am trying to manage entity beans with JMX. I want to send Notifications from an entity bean to its corresonding mbean. I want to create the Notification object in my bean. My problem is that I can't import javax.management.Notification in my bean. When I start the j2ee server I get a NoClassDefFoundError exception.
How do I make the j2ee server find the javax.management package?

Issues when configure LDAP server in OBIEE

Hi,
I have a big issue, I configure LDAP server for authentication of users, and everything looks fine, but my problem is when I log in Interactive Dashbaords, I enter without any problem, but some parameters and some filters and some functions are NOT working, for example:
-In a parameter I have this condition for Default value: SELECT YEAR(Tiempo.Dia) FROM Finanzas WHERE Tiempo.dia = CURRENT_DATE, and returns me a null value, but if I change to this SELECT YEAR(Tiempo.Dia) FROM Finanzas WHERE Tiempo.dia = CURRENT_DATE-1, returns me "2010"
I have similar behaviors in other parameters, and some filters and some functions.
Everything happen in Development instance. I configure LDAP server in Development instance.
In Production instance nothing of this is happen, but I do not configure LDAP server yet.
What do anyone think is happen here? This happens because I configure LDAP server? What do you think that mades this behavior for my parameters, filters and functions?
Do you think is a better practice to clone Production instance to Development instance? If so, how can I do a clone instance, only for OBIEE?

The date returned by CURRENT_DATE is determined by the system in which the Oracle BI Server is running. So, does CURRENT_DATE returns an equal values on prom and dev instances in your case?

How do I add new Server to FB4 beta2 ? Lets say Tomcat 6 or JBoss 5.1.
If I go to Preferences->Server->Runtime Environments, there is only one selection - J2EE Runtime Library (what is that?)
OK, I click Add, then link Download additional server adapters, and in a few seconds prompts for login/pwd for SAP Community Network.
I don't know any... so after I click Cancel, I can only choose Geronimo, GlassFish, Jetty, Weblogic, WASCE.
No Tomcat, No JBoss ? Nothing like a long selection list in FB3 ?
Search for server runtime environments stops right away. FB3 can find a dosen ones on my hard disk.
Is it a major hole in FB4 beta2 ?
Makes it pretty useless to me... :-(

How to find my Jrun 4 root folder for MX7.02 server installation

Hi,
I am trying to install Jrun 4 Updater 7 for my ColdFusion MX 7.02 (server installation) setup. It asked the root folder of my Jrun Installation and I tried a lot of selection but all of them come back with error "The location that you provided does not contain an installation of JRUN 4". How can I find my Jrun 4 root folder.
Here is the location that I've tried but no luck. My ColdFusion is installed in cFusionMx7 and I have updated my JVM to 1.4.2_11 and it resides in c:\j2sdk1.4.2_11.
C:\CfusionMx7\runtime\bin
C:\CfusionMx7\runtime\jre
C:\CfusionMx7\runtime\jre\bin
C:\CfusionMx7\runtime\jre\lib
C:\CfusionMx7\runtime\lib

I think you probably want C:\CfusionMx7\runtime. It's a bit of a curious thing for a "standard" CF install to be asking for though...
