Setting session attributes at the Role level

I am running AM7.1 in Legacy mode and I am trying to create a role and assign session attributes at this role level. I followed the instructions for doing this but it does not seem to be working. I created the role and added the session service to it. I then went in an changed the attributes (Max Idle, Max Session, etc.) to the values I need for the role. I then assigned the role to a user. However when I log in as this user and look at the Active Sessions panel all of the values are still saying they are set at the defaults. It is not picking up the new values for the user. Am I missing something? Help! -Jeff

Reply i was also getting this problem in relam mode but 7.0..........but when i specify in the url?role=rolename..........i see the session info applied but i wanted it to be dyanmically applied(without specifiying the role in the url).......i have raised an SR but that is for 7.0 .........please do it for 7.1 i think you might get some response.

  • How to set session attributes in a bean?

    How do I set a session attribute in a server-side bean?
    I'm not sure if I asked the question the right way. What I meant is, while it's easy to set session attributes in a JSP page (session.setAttribute("sessionname", "sessionvalue")), I'd want to set such an attribute within a server-side bean defined in this web application. But what is the syntax for doing it?

    Here a simple bean that stores something in the session and retrieves something from it.
    import javax.servlet.http.HttpSession;
    public class TestBean {
      private String value;
      public void doSomething(HttpSession session, int a, int b) {
        if (a+b > 0) {
          session.setAttribute("ab",Boolean.TRUE);
        } else {
          session.setAttribute("ab",Boolean.FALSE);
      public void init(HttpSession session) {
        if (session != null) {
          Boolean b = (Boolean)session.getAttribute("ab");
          if (b == Boolean.TRUE) {
            value = "a + b is greater than zero";
          } else {
            value = "a + b is not greater than zero";
        } else {
          value = "no session";
      public String getValue() {
        return value;
    }In your JSP, use something along the lines of :
    <%
      TestBean bean = new TestBean();
      bean.init(session);
      bean.doSomething(session,1,2);
    %>If your bean only lives during one request, you can pass the session to the constructor, which stores it in a private variable. This saves passing the session each time.
    Hope this helps,

  • Javascript to JSP question...Can javascript function set session attributes

    hello,
    i have a web app that, on one of its pages, displays "tabbed pane" as an image map at the top (a la amazon.com). my problem is this: each "logical" page contains separate forms that all use the same javabean. in other words, imagine that the tabs represent an account maintenance web ui for an on-line record store. the first tab might be labeled "General," the second "Contact info," the third "Shipping Info." Each uses the same account bean and displays portions of its properties relevant to the tab at hand. what i want to do is allow a user to enter the account maintenance ui, update info on the first tab, click on tab two and have the request with the changes sent to a processing jsp. yet, since each "tab" is actually a separate URL to another page, how do i get the updated info on the first tabe without adding some sort of "SAVE" button on each tab. ive considered using javascript, but dont know how to get the request params out of the first tab whn i click on another tab. is it possible to include an "onClick" function in each URL that "grabs" the updated form fields off the preceeding tab? can a javacript function set session attributes in jsp?

    hello there,
    wow, you've created one big mammy-jammy tool.
    first, javascript cannot access, set values to the session, without having to post to another JSP. javascript is great for manipulating objects, layers, form values, etc.
    you have 2 issues [if i understand correctly]:
    1) you need to able to save user info for a specific tab without having to reloading the page.
    ---you can create a form for EACH of your tabs and POST all the information to a hidden IFRAME or LAYER for NN4. that hidden IFRAME / LAYER will load a JSP page which with all the parameters you posted to it. or you can build a FRAMESET and target that document["frame-name"].src with that same JSP.
    2) handling when the SAVE INFO action should happen: hence some javascript event handler: onMouseOver, onClick, etc
    ---i don't know the dynamics of your tabs, but if store which tab was clicked on last, then if the user clicks on some other tab, javascript can submit that FORM to a JSP [see condition above]
    you have an interesting tool. can i see?
    i hope i wasn't too confusing, but your problem is sooo interesting. =)

  • How to replicate session data at the user level?

    Hi all,
    my client has users who use laptop/tablet computers in the field with wireless connections. The application requires the users to complete long multi-page forms where the data is only submitted to the EIS layer at the end of the process. The connections regularly drop out which understandably is a cause of some grief. In addition, the users want to be able to switch to another machine in order to complete their session.
    The 'switching machine' requirement kills the idea of using persistent cookies and session replication unfortunately. So I am faced with the idea of storing the session data (keyed by user id), in serialized form, either on a stand-alone disk which is accessible by each webserver in the cluster or is the database. The problem with the database idea is the performance hit of traversing the EJB and JDBC layers.
    Can anyone suggest the best practice in this case? Or point to an article or tool that covers the problem?
    BTW, the app serves a small (<50) and stable base of authenticated users so scalability is not really an issue whereas failover is.
    Regards,
    Dave.

    > Is it possible to close a PO at the header level
    Po can be closed at Item level and not Header level. You can set Deletion Indicator and further can be archived thru SARA MM_EKKO
    or a way to deactivate the PO so that no new items can be added?
    You can activate Release strategy and Choose a Proper Release indicatory so that no new changes to be carried out.
    Else go for User Exits

  • Using Session Variable in the Column Level Security

    My Question -
    1. I created an initialization block with initialization string by calling a new session variable CTP_ID_LIST in the sql command, given appropriate database connections and when I exit out of Block, and chosen Row-wise initialization. I do not see a new session variable created under variables list. Why does this happen? Please help me on this.

    Hi,
    This happens when you select Row-wise Initialization.
    The row-wise initialization feature allows you to create session variables dynamically and set their values when a session begins. The names and values of the session variables reside in an external database that you access through a connection pool. The variables receive their values from the initialization string that you type in the Initialization Block dialog box.
    You can also use the row-wise initialization feature to initialize a variable with a list of values. You can then use the SQL IN operator to test for values in a specified list.
    Example: Using the table values in the previous example, you would type the following SQL statement for the initialization string:
    select 'LIST_OF_USERS', USERID
    from RW_SESSION_VARS
    where NAME='STATUS' and VALUE='FULL-TIME'
    This SQL statement populates the variable LIST_OF_USERS with a list, separated by colons, of the values JOHN and JANE; for example, JOHN:JANE. You can then use this variable in a filter, as shown in the following WHERE clause:
    where TABLE.USER_NAME = valueof(NQ_SESSION.LIST_OF_USERS)
    The variable LIST_OF_USERS contains a list of values, that is, one or more values. This logical WHERE clause expands into a physical IN clause, as shown in the following statement:
    where TABLE.USER_NAME in ('JOHN', 'JANE')

  • Set request attributes from the request attributes

    Using struts chaining actions.
    When using chaining the requestAttributes are lost.
    Is there a way to get all the request attributes and set them back to the request again?
    if so how to do this?
    Thanks.

    Looks like nobody knows :(
    It seems odd that nobody's tried to get InputSelectLOV or DataHandler working with a Struts app...
    ... anyway, on to finding out why the thing's throwing my releasemode away. This really is very like swimming through treacle :(

  • Unable set session attribute with certain types.

    Hello I was surprise that when I execute HttpSession.setAttribute("somekey", new HashMap()), "somekey" will not be stored in the Session. I can replace HashMap with HashSet and it's okay.
              Out of curiosity, I create a Java class like below :
              public class abc implements Serializable {
              public String def = "def";
              And I have the same issue with HashMap and it will not get stored in the Session attribute. Does anyone know what kind of valid object and what makes the object storable into the Session's attribute? Any inputs are appreciated. Thanks.

    Actually never mind. It have something to do with BEA's Portal Ad services. I will post this into the appropriate forum.

  • BC: How to set an attribute in the validateEntity method

    Hi All,
    a little question that hopefully someone knows the answers to.
    We override the validateEntity() method in our Entity Objects to perform validation. During our validation based on the value of a (bound to a database column) attribute, we conclude that another attribute (bound to another database column) needs to be set to a specific value.
    For example: we have a table with columns A and B. The user can edit both, but when the value of column A is set to 'value1' the value of column B is set to '0' in the validateEntity() method. (When the value of column A is something different the user may fill anything in column B).
    Because all our validation and logic is centralised in the validateEntity() method we would also like to have this logic in there.
    However we face some problems:
    If we use setAttribute() or setAttributeInternal() the validation is run again (and again, and again, eg a loop). I can get out of the loop, but i really don't want the validation to be done again.
    So i looked up the documentation on oracle.jbo.server.EntityImpl and i specifies that i should use populateAttributeAsChanged().
    I have tried that, but now the user gets to see 'JBO-25014: Another user has changed the row...'. The same result with populateAttribute().
    I tried to change the attribute to refresh after insert/update, but that doesn't help.
    Can anybody help?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Robert

    What if I wanted to "reset" one attribute when validation fails, I can do this but I don't see the error message.
    my method looks like this:
    public boolean validateDatumEffectueringAlsStatusIsDrie() {
    if (new Number(3).equals(getStatus()) &&
    getDatumEffectuering() == null) {
    setStatus((Number)getPostedAttribute(STATUS));
    return false;
    return true;
    This probably fires the method twice when status was set to 3, and the second time it does not fail because status is set back to the value that was not 3, so I don't see the error message that was shown the first time.
    So how is this done properly?
    The reason I do this is because DatumEffectuering is readonly when status is 3 so when the page refreshes after the validation the empty date field is readonly.... I need the status to be reset after validation of the entity fails.
    Thanks in advance!

  • Setting camera attributes with the PCI-1405

    I have the PCI-1405 Imaq card.  I was wondering how I set camera attributes like gain and exposure time.  Every time I try to use the set camera attribute VI I get an error message saying the attribute is not valid.

    khsay--
          Installing the driver will allow the framegrabber (1405) to communicate with the computer.  I want to verify that you are using Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX) to test the sanp/grab features of your camera.  This will allow you to directly interact with the hardware.
          If you are, and this is where you are getting the extract image error.  First double-check that you know what kind of communication standard the camera uses (for instance, CCIR or RS170) and make sure that this is selected in MAX.
          The camera might not be using a known standard, in which case you will need a camera file that tells the computer and framegrabber how to interpret the camera's information and signal.  You can look in MAX and see if the camera is listed, if it is the camera file is   If not, you can try going to www.ni.com/camera and see if you can get a camera file there. If not you will need to try contacting the manufacturer to see if they have one, and if not you will need to create one using the camera file generator from the ni.com/camera.
         Just let us know if this information helped to solve the issue and if not reply back so that we can help.  Also, in the future if you have a new issue you might consider posting in a new thread.

  • Can't Set Session State from the Login Page

    I have a dilema. On the standard login page I enter values in 2 fields namely, CAMPUS (Select List) and USERNAME (text field).
    After clicking on the login button I want to navigate to PAGE 1 and use the values of CAMPUS and USERNAME to filter data. I have created two APPLICATION Level items (A_USERNAME,A_CAMPUS) to which I assign the values of USERNAME and CAMPUS in two AFTER SUBMIT computations on the login page.
    When I arrive on PAGE 1 the session state values of A_USERNAME,A_CAMPUS are still both null therefore the query returns null. It seems that the login process does not issue a SUBMIT for session state to be saved. How do I save the values in session state on login?
    In the Login PROCESS, can I specify the Page 1 items to be set and the values to set them in a URL somewhere? Is it here?
    wwv_flow_custom_auth_std.login(
    P_UNAME => :P101_USERNAME,
    P_PASSWORD => :P101_PASSWORD,
    P_SESSION_ID => v('APP_SESSION'),
    P_FLOW_PAGE => :APP_ID||':1' <<========here?
    If so what is the correct syntax?
    If I revisit the login page a second time, a submit is issued and the values are set in session state.
    Anyone got any ideas??
    I tried creating a standard position button which issues a submit but this didn't work either.
    regards
    Paul J Platt

    Unfortunately your solution is causing problems with retrieving cookies that I try to get for the campus and username during a "Before Header Process" as well. The cookies are normally set on an "After Submit" process. When I return to the login page I get
    Error ERR-1029 Unable to store session info. session=10760914996048113736 item=8561939526127479
    ORA-02291: integrity constraint (FLOWS_010600.WWV_FLOW_DATA_FK) violated - parent key not found
    But if I turn the cookies off, it seems to work OK.

  • I have installed the Nosquint add-on andhave set it up to the zoom levels I desire. Why, whenever I go from tab to tab, I lose my settings? and page every new page on a site as well? annoyed as heck!

    I have to mouse over the icon every time I leave a site, or tab, or browse different pages within a site. I have tried all the options to fix this, and do not know what to do. Or is this just the way this works. This is tedious at best.

  • Getting http session attributes

    Hello,
    Perhaps the question here may sound stupid, but I have real problem with that:
    Is it possible to obtain http session attributes from the client side
    (and even worse) in other languages like VB or VC++? What i mean is that after creating Http session by servlet, and setting some attributes, is it possible to get them by VC or VB app? Thanks in advance :)

    What i mean is that after creating Http session by servlet, and >setting some attributes, is it possible to get them by VC or VB app? >Thanks in advance :) What do you mean by "VC or VB app" ?
    A desktop app written in VC or VB ? a web app in VBscript/ASP ? (but as far as I know there is no web language based on VC, unless you're talking about executable CGIs that can be written in any language).
    Assuming that you talk about VB-ASP, I don't think it possible "out of the box" to retrieve session variables created by a servlet in an ASP page.
    That would be possible if HTTP supported sessions.
    Sessions are implemented at the application level on top of HTTP; they reside in the application that handles requests. Outside it, they don't exist.
    It doesn't mean that you can't do that, but that you have to do that using HTTP constructs like URL rewriting or form submission.
    For example you could set session variables in a JSP page, and then forward the request to an ASP page through a GET request with all session variables written in the URL.

  • How do I define the five levels of text in a text placeholder ?

    Keybote User manual says, at page 234 ("Defining Text Placeholders") that I can create a Text Box in a master, define it as a "Text Placeholder" and :
    7. Select the placeholder text and format it as desired.
    In a text box, you can define attributes for as many as five levels of text.
    Does anyone know how to "define attributes" for the "five levels of text" in a text placeholder ?
    No matter how much I try, as soon as I define a text box as a placeholder, I cannot find a way to define the multiple levels, like those existing in a Body text.
    I try to change the indent level, but that doesn't allow me to say that one level is bold and one is plain, or that before paragraph spacing is different.
    It looks like that, as soon as I define it as a placeholder, the entire text inside becomes a single paragraph.
    Thanks for your help

    The indent comes from the padding-left: 7px; in the CSS rule for the <a> tag
    a:link {
              color: #FFF;
              background-color: #000;
              text-align: center;
              padding-top: 8px;
              padding-right: 8px;
              padding-bottom: 8px;
              padding-left: 7px; /* CREATES UNWANTED LEFT INDENT IN FOOTER LINKS */
              text-decoration: none;
    That rule is good for your menu but not your footer links so create a new set of rules for links in the footer.
    .footer_cc_license a:link {
              color: #FFF;
              background-color: #000;
    .footer_cc_license a:visited {
      color: #FFF;
      background-color: #000;
    .footer_cc_license a:hover {
      color: #FFF;
      background-color: #000;
       text-decoration: underline;
    .footer_cc_license a:active {
      color: #FFF;
      background-color: #000;
