Setting tab order/reading order of a form.

I have created a survey with fillable form fields and saved as a PDF. When I tab through the form to fill it out many of the radio buttons get skipped. Also, when using VoiceOver to read the form it does not read the form fields in the correct order, however it does read the text correctly. I have used the Order tab to set the tab order of the form fields but this does not appear to make any difference. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your reply!  Based on your suggestion I did a little experimenting.
This is a form saved to Enable User Rights so PDF viewers can fill out and email or save the form.   After seeing your question, I opened the form for editing (actually saving a copy first that was not restricted, and editing the copy).  I then toggled the Tab Numbers on via Tools > under the Forms header I clicked Edit > Other Tasks > Edit Fields > Show Tab Numbers.  After revealing the tab numbers I then tried to save the form as a Reader Extended PDF, but the Enable Additional Features option was grayed out.  Even if I wanted to, I could not save the form with the tab numbers revealed.
The form itself was also received by our company electronically and when viewed does not show the tab number order and when we print it, it prints as expected (no tab order numbers).
We are suspecting that this may be an issue either with the end users printer? Or possibly viewing and printing via an alternate viewer like Foxit?
Anybody run across this odd behavior?

  • TouchUp Reading Order tool moves or just deletes page content!?

Using Acrobat X to make documents 508 compliant. I've had a number of issues when trying to tag a figure, it ends up moving the figure to a different page or deleting it altogether. Also I've has issues when trying to adjust the reading order, content is moved or deleted.
How can adjusting structure completely delete content? Really bad bug. Is anyone else seeing this? Thanks.

Thank you for your comment. However I do not think this is a workable solution.
My structure in the tags panel is ordered correctly, and the document exported from inDesign is tagged and ordered correctly. However, when I look at the reading order tab the reading order is wrong. I need to use the reading order tab to reorganize the order in which items are read by screen readers (this is as according to Adobe training, e.g. http://tv.adobe.com/watch/accessibility-adobe/preparing-indesign-files-for-accessibility/). Is there another tool that will allow me to organize the reading/tab order (without deleting some of the content in my tables)?
I am also having the additional problem that sometimes, not always, when I use the reading order panel to reorganize reading order, my tables lose their tagging as tables - I am worried that this will mean screen readers will not recognize the data as a table and will not read it accordingly (by header cell and then content cell).
    Can you provide any help?
    Thank you.

  • Is it possible to set the tab order of components on a form?

I'm trying to set the tab order of text boxes on a form, that uses GridBag layout. It seems that the tab order is automatically set according to the order that components are added to the form in. Is there a way to change it manually? I really don't want to redo the entire form...

I have no idea what you're talking about. It might be worth to look for the right forum which suits your actual problem. Are you talking about Swing? Then post it in the Swing forum. Are you talking about JSP? Then post it in the JSP forum.

  • About setting tab order in Acrobat Pro X

I'm really disappointed in the way you changed how I set tab order in Acrobat Pro X. I work with a lot of forms with multiple fields. Some of these forms have up to 100 different fields on one page that need to be in the order I set. In previous versions, I could set this order simply by clicking on the fields in the correct order I want. But with X, I have to drag each field one by one into the correct order. When you have a bunch of fields to set, this is tedious. And, when I click on a field to edit content, more times than not, it changes the tab order, and I'm back to finding it in the panel and dragging it back to it's correct place. This is time consuming. Not to mention when there are more fields than the monitor's height, the fields are scrolled in the panel.
So, please do something to give me the option to set tab order like in previous versions, and once they are set, leave them where they are. Or am I doing something wrong?

You're not doing anything wrong, it really sucks. But things are improved significantly with Acrobat 11. First, there's a preference setting that prevents the automatic reordering that can happen when fields are moved/edited. Second, you are able to select and move multiple fields at a time in the fields panel, which can speed things up considerably. It's still not as efficient as the old method, but at least it has finally been addressed. I think this feature alone is worth the upgrade price for the amount of time it will save and the beneficial effects on stress, blood pressure, and hair loss.

  • Set tab order by clicking fields, how?

Ive done it before but cant figure out how I got to it.  The presets for "by row", "by column", etc... and arranging using the view on the left panel are not working easily for me and it would just be so much quicker and easier if I could just click the fields in the order I want the tabbing to go.  How do you get to that function?

Thanks for the caution.  If folks do try this dual install and they get bad results or "buggy" performance, they should uninstall V5. Optionally, keep an old machine running V5 just to set tab order.  Recently, we set row/column mixed tab order on a form with 600 fields. Ten minutes vs hours of tedious work locating and dragging fields up and down the column.
We did have a conflict last month when we were intalling PitStop on a V5/V9 machine.  PitStop complained about V5 and wouldn't install. We removed V5, installed PitStop and reinstalled V5 and it all works like a charm.
Down in the trade-shop trenches we have to produce forms efficiently to bid competitively. We experiment with many techniques to save time. Naturally, we cannot expect to get Acrobat support with our violating, multi-version setup, but this is a small sacrifice because our experience with "support" is that they really aren't fluent in deep product usage.

  • Unable to set tabbing order for a typedef

Attached is a .CTL file that is for a typedef in my project. I'd like to set the tabbing order. I'm using the "Array to Cluster" VI (is it a VI?) to fill it with data, however because the controls are not in the correct order, the data is no being put in the right place. When I edit my CTL, Edit|Set Tabbing Order is greyed out. Why is this and how do I fix it?
    See my attached file.
    Solved!

Never mind - I figured it out. Right click on the cluster containing my controls and select "Reorder controls in cluster..."

  • Is Set Tab Order Broken in Acrobat 8.x Pro?

I can't seem to get it to work. Even when the automatic tab order setting is done and it is numbered correctly, when I switch to Preview and also save/close/re-open in Preview, the tab order is what it was before. When I go to Edit Layout, the tab ordering numbering shows correctly for all fields, but back in Preview, it goes out of whack in the same way.

Yes, I had already tried saving and even closing and re-opening. The Set Tab Order interface does not even operate in a fashion the user would expect. When replying to the alert question about automatic vs. manual setting of the interface, then randomly clicking fields, at one point the order stops changing once a field is selected. A text field becomes the LAST numerical field when it is selected, rather than starting at one and proceeding in ordinal fashion.
I am convinced that this feature is bug-ridden based on my attempts to work with it and given the numerous posts "commenting" on this very feature.

  • How to set tabbing order in Acrobat X Pro

I cannot find any instructions for manually setting tabbing order in Acrobat X Pro.  It does not work the same as earlier versions of Acrobat Pro.  Any idea as to where I can go for instructions for X Pro?

Thank you for the quick response!  I found instructions for the Pro 9 version, so followed that and it worked like a charm.

  • Setting Tab Order on Rollover Captions

I have created a Captivate piece with rollover captions
describing various portions of a screen shot. Because of ADA
compliance, I was told that you had to be able to tab through the
rollover boxes, which does work. However, strangely, when you tab,
there doesn't seem to be a controllable pattern. I thought perhaps
it was left to right and then wrap down, but that doesn't seem to
be true. It also doesn't seem to be controlled by order of creation
of the rollover caption item, nor the order the items are placed in
    the timeline.
While it isn't the end of the world, I would sure like to be
able to specify the tab order of the rollover captions.
    Any ideas?

Unfortunately, it does NOT use the stacking order when
determining tab order. I moved the order a number of times to see
if that made a difference, and it did not.
I did find that it has something to do with placement on the
page - but not completely. If I moved an object to the top left
corner of the slide, it would select that one first (regardless of
the stack order). However, that does not fully follow through - it
would choose the top-left most object, then start on the second
line of objects which was lower than a right-hand rollover caption,
then skip to the right-hand object then back to an object in the
middle of the page, etc. It is a consistent pattern on the page
(meaning that it is not a random changing pattern each time), but
not in any sensible (at least to me) order.

  • How to set the read order in ADF under screenreader mode?

    Hi,
I am working on the FUSION FUSE about ACCESSIBILITY: LINEARISE NUMBERING. I meet a requirement that set a button with 200 number which make it as the LAST read one in the whole page. Currently the read order is from left to right, top to bottom. so need help on this. Thanks a lot.
    Below is the detail requirement:
More Details button (which takes the user into Fusion apps) needs to be a higher # (in the 200+) for Linearize. Linearize is a tool that indicates in which order (numerically),the words on the page are 'read out' to a blind user. We'd want to have that More Details button be the last thing that is read on the page. Ergo, let's give it the highest #.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
as this forum is public and not Oracle Fusion Apps related (people here don't know what you are talking about when you say "Fusion Fuse") I suggest you ask this question to your internal Oracle peers.

  • Put Purchase Orders checkbox in the first Tab in sales order window

How do I use UI SDK to put the Purchase Orders checkbox in the first tab in sales order window?

I want to enable the checkbox during form load, therefore I include the following codes:
    Case SAPbouiCOM.BoEventTypes.et_FORM_LOAD
'// Specifies that SAP Business One application opened a form.
                        Try
                            SBO_Application.Forms.Item(FormUID).Items.Item("104").Click(SAPbouiCOM.BoCellClickType.ct_Regular)
                        Catch ex As Exception
                            SBO_Application.MessageBox(ex.Message)

  • Sales Order - Using Item Category 'TAB' - Individual Purchase Order

    All,
I am configuring for the first time utilizing Sales Document Item category "TAB" - Individual Purchase Order.  I have a few questions:
Is there a best practice configuration guide specific for this process?  I have found the 'third party' document/best practice, but nothing so far  on "individual purchase order from sales order'.
Is there a way to default Purchase Order Type "UB" stock transfer from the Purchase Requisition NB?  I thought this could be done based on the schedule line "CB" configuration, changing the 'item category' to 7 stock transfer, then this would carry into the mapping for purchase requisition type NB/item category stock transfer to purchase order type UB/item category stock transfer.  However, when I set '7' on the schedule line CB, I then receive a hard error when creating my purchase req to set the supplying plant.  I have more than one supplying plant, so I'm not sure if setting the '7' is the right setting for this process.  From what I've been able to find for documentation, the item category of the schedule line should be set to '0' standard.
When I perform the post Goods Issue 601 of Special Stock "E" - to the customer (once the stock has been received into the right plant), the system is not creating an Accounting/FI Document to relieve the inventory and charge cost of goods sold.  I have reviewed automatic account assignment entries and these appear correct for 601 E.  Are there special settings for special stock "E" that I need to consider.
If you cannot answer all of these questions, but can answer one of them, I am most interested in teh last question above.
    Regards,
    Sandra Miner

    Hi Reazuddin,
What I don't understand is why:
if I don't create PO --> I can create Outobund Delivery in Individual Purchase Order but if I create PO (not MIGO) I cannot create OBD in IPO.  (Note: in both cases I agree PGI is not possible)
The flowchart is: Sale Order (IPO) --> Purchase Requisition --> Purchase Order (PO) --> MIGO (inbound delivery) --> MIRO (Vendor invoice verification) --> Outbound delivery ( delivery [OBD] + picking + posting[PGI]) --> Sales Invoice
    As per your comments:
System will not stop you to create delivery, though you customize delivery item cat: as Check min qtty "0" - error message. because system checks for PGI qtty, but not the delivery qtty.
But then in the case I create Sale order (IPO) + PO (without MIGO) --> the system should not stop me executing Outbound Delivery. It should stop me only if I execute Posting goods issue. But actually in this case, the system is stopping me at outbound delivery.
I agree with Posting Goods Issue behaviour. It is logical in the following cases:
Only Sale order (IPO) created --> PGI is not possible
Sale Order (IPO) created + PO created --> PGI is not possible
Sale Order (IPO) created + PO created + MIGO executed (inbound) --> PGI is possible.
Thank you very much for your feedback.
    Regards,
    Alberto Ramos.

  • "You're all set to complete your order" emails

I'm not sure if this happens to others but it is getting old how many of these emails I get. While browsing, I place items in my cart on BB.com to see the price when that's the only way to see the price or to save them until I'm finished browsing. After I'm finished, I remove all the items from my cart. However, later that day and even the days following I get emails saying "You're all set to complete your order" or "You're all set to check out at Best Buy". These emails seem to have snapshots of my cart at various points while I was browsing but do not know that my cart is currently empty. I have gone back to BB.com, signed in, and verified my cart is empty. I realize the email is considered a marketing email and I can unsubscribe from these emails. But I like getting the emails for the daily deals and such and this type of email seems to be broken. It would be nice if this could be fixed so I could stop getting spammed with emails. Thanks.

    Hi there basmith2004,
Sifting through various marketing emails can be monotonous, and I apologize if you have found an overabundance of these in regards to items that were or are in your cart.
Presently, we are unaware of any issues with such emails. With that said, you should still be able to unsubscribe from these emails and still view the weekly deals and such via the Deals tab on BestBuy.com.
Would you like me to opt you out of the marketing emails?
