Setting the bounds to the panel

Hi,
I want to set the bounds for the panel so that any component in that panel shouldn't go out of that panel bounds. Can anybody know how to make the component movable to some restricted area?
Thanks and Regards
kishore.

Hi, kishore!
I think that I haven't really understand you, but if I'm right, did you try to use an empty border on yuor panel?
Here's the way you must use it...
panel.setBorder(BorderFactory.createEmptyBorder(10, 10, 10, 10));If I'm wrong, please give me more details of your problem.

  • Make the panel fit the image so MouseListener only invoke when click  image

    I want to add MouseListener to only the image itself. So I draw the image onto a image panel, add that panel onto the main panel, then add the main panel onto the frame. However, my problem is that the size of my image panel is too large, it take up almost the entire frame. So my mouselistener response not only when I click onto the image, but also anywhere in my image panel. I try to resize the image panel to fit the size of my image, but no luck. Is there a solution for this. I feel like, it got something to do with the layout. Here is my code, if you mind read it. Thank you very much

  • How do you set the size / bounds of a waveform chart at run time?

    I have a plot area that I would like to fill with as many waveform charts as the user specifies (at run time). The "bounds" property is read only and I haven't noticed an additional "size" property for a waveform chart as there is for a button. Is there a way to set the size of a waveform chart at run time, and if not, why not? (Labview 6.1)

    Look at it a little more carefully, I suspect that your assumption is only half wrong. The property does only resize the plot area--LV resizes the frame to fit the resized plot on it's own.
    You'll need to bear this in mind when you're figuring-out what size to set the property to.

  • Is there a way to set the default Initial View to Bookmarks Panel and Page on word documents that I save as PDF?

    When I save my word 2013 documents as Adobe PDF I have to open the PDF up, go to File>Properties>Initial View>Navigation Tab and then set the initial view as Bookmark Panel and Page; it gets pretty tedious.
    I use Save as Adobe PDF rather than Print to Adobe PDF Printer because I like being able to have the security settings automatically set.
    I just want to be able to save my word document as Adobe PDF with the initial view already set as Bookmark Panel and Page, and with security, so I can send it out immediately.
    Is this possible?
    Thank you.

  • How to set the cell size in grid layout where each cell is a panel

    Hi,
    I am using a grid layout where each cell is a panel. Here I want to
    set size of each panel to be equal irrespective of any. But it is not obliging the setSize().
    no of row in grid - 4
    no of columns - 4
    each cell is a panel. each panel has a label.
    panel.setSize(parent.getWidth(), parent.getWidth()/4); // not working. Size is adjusting to the length of the label.
    I want to force the size of the panel to our preferred size.
    Note: In swing we can use JPanel.setPreferredSize(). Unfortunately I cannot use Swing components. Requirement is awt only.
    Any help in this is highly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Kishore

    I observed it is same behavior with gridbag layout. Infact it is gridbag layout only with 4 cells, where first cell should be of constant width (it is base for other cell widths) and other cells are variable (some integer*base width of first cell). I want to set the size of first cell width to be constant.
    Though it is redundant I once again say that it works perfect with setPreferredSize of JComponent.
    But I should not use any swing component/api. This is sytem requirement.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Setting the max and min bounds of a result set

    I'm trying to set the upper and lower bound values of a result set. Meaning, I want to limit the values in my result set to not be below/above a certain number, BUT I want any number in my result set that is below/above the lower/upper bound that i have designated to be decoded to the lower/upper bound number that I have designated. Here's an example to help clarify:

    SELECT 1001.00 FROM dual UNION ALL
    SELECT -32.0 FROM dual UNION ALL

         0
         332
         211I was wondering if there was another function or method of achieving my desired result set without having to use a CASE statement? I have to do this to several columns, and it doesn't seem very efficient to throw a CASE statement around each one.

    LEAST and GREATEST will do that too :
    SQL> WITH temp_table AS
      2  (
      3   SELECT 1231.12 AS col FROM dual UNION ALL
      4   SELECT 1001.00 FROM dual UNION ALL
      5   SELECT -32.0 FROM dual UNION ALL
      6   SELECT -3.0 FROM dual UNION ALL
      7   SELECT 332.0 FROM dual UNION ALL
      8   SELECT 211.0 FROM dual
      9   )
    10  SELECT least(greatest(col, 0), 1000)
    11  FROM temp_table
    12  ;
    LEAST(GREATEST(COL,0),1000)
                           1000
                           1000
                              0
                              0
                            332
                            211
    6 rows selected

  • Can I use a colour palette control to set the colour of an LED on front panel?

    Hi,
    I want to allow the user of my LabView program to be able to set the colour of an enlarged LED on the front panel using a colour palette control also on the front panel. Is this possible or can the LED only be the colour it is set to in its properties dialogue box?
    Thanks,
    Dave.

    The question is of course: "Does it really need to be a boolean LED that has a True/False and all the boolean logic???
    If you just want an LED lookalike where the color can be easily controlled programmatically I would recommend a color box indicator instead. You can even customized it to look like an LED! The attached example (LabVIEW 7.1) shows both methods, but the color box option is programmatically much less messy (no bundling, no array building, no property nodes!).
    (To make the LED color box indicator, I customized a plain color box and simply imported the graphic elements from the regular LED indicator.)

  • Looking for a way to programmatically set the visible portion of the front panel when a subVI opens

    I am looking for a way to programmatically set the visible portion of the front panel when a subVI opens.  Haven't found any posts that relate, but I'm not sure how to ask the right question.  To be clear, I want to write a helper VI to go through a list of subVIs to make sure the background images are all in the same place when their respective subVIs open.  I hate manually playing with scroll bars before I save each of the VIs...  I'm figuring I need to find the top/left location of the background image (know how to do this already) and then set a VI FP property to  these values or some offset, but I can't find the relevant property. FP:run-timeposition:custom looked promissing, but only affects the location of the window, not the area of the front panel the window is displaying.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Cool.  Getting closer.  The way I implemented your suggestion affects the subVI only if it is open.  I can use this to do what I'm after, perhaps putting the code into each subVI.  Maybe open all subs, run the helper, and save.    Seems like I'm missing the elegant version...

  • Help in setting the size of panels

    Hi,
    I am not able to set the size of the panels. I have three panels- steelSettingsPanel, woodSettingsPanel and labourSettingsPanel whose size I set using setPreferredSize function. However, their size does seem to change. I then add the three panels to the dialog as under:-
    Container dialogContainer = dialog.getContentPane();
    dialogContainer.setLayout(new GridBagLayout());
    GridBagConstraints gbc = new GridBagConstraints();
    dialogContainer.add(steelSettingsPanel, gbc);
    gbc.gridx = 0;
    gbc.gridy = 1;
    dialogContainer.add(woodSettingsPanel, gbc);
    gbc.gridx = 0;
    gbc.gridy = 2;
    dialogContainer.add(labourSettingsPanel, gbc);
    gbc.gridx = 0;
    gbc.gridy = 3;
    dialogContainer.add(buttonPanel, gbc);
    dialog.setSize(300, 250);
    dialog.setLocation(parent.getX() + dialog.getWidth()/2, parent.getY() + dialog.getHeight()/2);
    dialog.setResizable(false);
    dialog.addWindowListener(this);
    dialog.setVisible(true);
    I have tried not setting the size of dialog but it does not work. When I do not set the size of the dialog to (300,250), I get a very small dialog with nothing in it.
    Any help in this regard would be greatly appreciated.

  • Setting the bounds of a JPanel with double values

    Hi,
    I want to use a JPanel in my application, but the setBounds() method is limited to only int. Now I'm wondering if there is a way to set the bounds on the JPanel with doubles, so I can paint it for example x = 15.5;
