Setting the default object style or stroke weight of a document

i can select items and apply created object styles, but i want to change a documents defaults BEFORE i create something?
backgorund - i need to add my logo to the bleed area of my document but i find that if a document has a default of say 5pt stroke weight then it fails when trying to draw my logo before I have a chance to change it saying
"Adobe InDesign CS2 got an error: Requested operation would cause one or more objects to be too small.
Please check whether the stroke weight is too large."

Could you be please more precise ?
If I got the idea, you want to place everytime your logo in the bleed area.
I will first set the bleed area with these instructions :
app.activeDocument.documentPreferences.documentBleedUniformSize = true;
app.activeDocument.documentPreferences.documentBleedTopOffset = 5;
then i will create a rectangle at the point -5,-5
var myframe = app.activeDocument.rectangles .add({geometricBounds:["-5","-5","0","25"]});
//dimensions are what you want
then place the logo.
var myfile = File("logo");
//logo is a filepath "/c/..."
myframe.place(myfile);
Here you are,

    when importing images in Pages, how do I set the default object placement to "stay on page" and "no text wrap"?

    Then use a Layout template.
    I am a designer and I use Word Processing templates with layout breaks and all the other tools available because Layout templates are just WP templates with a lot of options removed.
    Pages is not Indesign, but then Indesign is not Pages, …and Pages 5 is not Pages '09.
    Unless your flyers are for the Web, why are you using Pages at all?
    I am curious, what does your post have to do with the O.P.'s question? …and why are you posting it here?

  • How do I set the default Object Placement in new pages?

    I often drag and drop images to pages, but the default is that these images do not move with the text.
    How do I change the default for this setting? This always worked with the old pages 09...
    I've tried a lot of different approaches including creating a new template or applying a new style to the objects. But it seems that the style does not affect the object placement settings at all. And the template didn't work either.
    Has anybody already figured out how to do this?
    Many thanks in advance!

    Hello xifle, I have the same issue with pages. Indeed, it is time consuming to have to format the placement of each image I insert so that text wraps around it. Sometimes, I would need the image to float so that I can position it more effectively. Finally, wouldn't it be nice to have screen shots inserted into a pages doc scale down to a pred-determined size. We are surely hundreds of users needing this same feature. Great streamlining, but an overall weak version of Pages at the moment. Regards, Emmanuel in Switzerland

  • Problems with vertical cell borders and the default table style

    When laying out tables in Word, I like to use thin horizontal lines (cell borders) and thick-ish white vertical lines. The vertical white cell borders create a subtle negative space that is less cluttered than the typical boxed-in-all-sides style.
    Issue 1.
    In Pages, horizontal cell borders seem to take precedence over vertical cell borders so my vertical white line trick doesn't work. Is there a way to force my vertical white cell borders to "show up" over my think black horizontal cell borders?
    Issue 2.
    So, for the time being, I'm not using vertical white cell borders in tables; instead, I set the vertical cell borders to "none." Unfortunately, when I try to set the default table style using a table with no vertical cell borders, Pages adds the vertical cell borders anyway. Does anyone know a way to get Pages to surrender?

    I checked and here, aftere defining a new default format with vertical lines set to none, this format is used when I cvreate a new table.
    But the same with horizontal lines doesn't apply.
    _Go to "Provide Pages Feedback" in the "Pages" menu_, describe what you wish.

  • How to set the Default values for Info Objects in Data Selection of InfoPac

    Hi All,
    Flat file Extracion:
    How to set the Default values for Info Objects in Data Selection Tab  for Info Package
    ex: Fiscal Year Variant  Info Object having values 'K4' 'Y2' etc  in Flat file
    Initially  default value(not constant)  for this info Object value should be 'K4'  in Info Package
    If I set data selection value for this info object K4 it will retreive records with this selection only? how to handle
    Rgds,
    CV

    Hi,
    suppose as your ex. if you are having fiscalyear variant in the dataselection tab then specify K4 in the from column, again the ficalyearvariant row and click on insert duplicate row at the bottom . you will get another row . In that enter Y2 in the from column. now you can extract K4, y2 values .

  • [svn] 3148: You can now use CSS styles to set the default text format for TextView.

    Log Message:
    You can now use CSS styles to set the default text format for TextView. It no longer has any formatting properties. It supports the entire set of Gumbo text format styles.
    SkinnableComponent and Group now also support all these styles. However, skins such as ButtonSkin, TextInputSkin, and TextAreaSkin continue for now to specify instance styles on their TextBox, TextGraphic, and TextView, in order to give them a Gumbo look rather than a Halo look. So if you try setting, for example, the fontSize on the Application, it doesn't yet affect the text format of a Button, TextInput, TextArea, etc. unless you remove the instance style in the skin.

  • Setting the default style sheet

    I am trying to set the default style sheet to my customized css - mainstyle19-en.css. I know that I have to run this command - ant make_main_css -DCOLOR=19 but I don't have ant in my path and it is not recognizing it as a command. How do you put that in the path? Also - where are you supposed to run this command? I know somewhere on the server where the image server is located, but where exactly?
    Thanks for your help,
    Karen.

    In addition, if you are using .net, Sarah Wheeler created a simple portlet that allows the user to create a header portlet with the ability to change the stylesheet. I have modified it a little and would be happy to share my version. • How to set the default language in preferences- dictionary- language

    Hi guys,
    i like to set the default dictionary language as well as the lookup path of the dictionary via script. I've found the property dictionary path as well as some settings for qoutation under languages with vendors:
    app.languagesWithVendors[INDEX OF LANGUAGE].name
    app.languagesWithVendors[INDEX OF LANGUAGE].dictionaryPaths
    Thats fine, but how can it set a certain language with vendor as the default language for the application itself? Under the Preferences->Dictionary dialog, I can find a dropdown showing the default language. But how can I access this default or set it?
    The application object has a property object called dictionaryPreferences, but this object only contains some flags like the merge behaviour but not the default language itself. So where is it?
    app.dictionaryPreferences.mergeUserDictionary

    API

    Ok guys,
    in the meantime I think I got it. I can setup  several dictionaries for several languages. Depending on the language I use in my paragraph styles the according dictionary will be used. Fine for the desktop.
    But what about the InDesign Server! I use the server via scripting and SOAP ports, webservice calls. I've launched several webservice ports, like 10001,10002,10003,10004. In this case, I can set up a vendor dictionary by providing a path via script send to one port 10001 for example. But here are two problems:
    1. The other InDesign Server instances aka webservice ports and engines won't get informed about the change. I have to run the script on all instances.
    2. The change only lives as long as the instance is running but doesn't get saved. After restart the instance, the setup got lost.
    So can I save the dictionary-setup with an pref-xml file, all InDesign Server instances would use and read per default?

  • How to change the default text style?

    The MacOS system seems to maintain a collection of text 'styles' available in applications such as TextEdit, Bean, MacJournal, Notebook and DevonThink. This collection contains a default style, used by some (but not all) of these applications as the default text style for new documents.
    At my computers this default style is characterized in the 'favorite styles' panel as 'left aligned, spacing 0.0x' and it has strange tab stops (0.99, 1.98, 2.96, 3.95, 4.94, 5.93, 6.91, 7.90, 8.89, 9.89, 10.86, 11.85 cm).
    I prefer tab stops at 1.00, 2.00, 3.00 etc., and 1.2x line spacing.
    I guess I have changed the default style by accident, as I cannot imagine Apple putting such strange tab stops in a default style (0.0x spacing sounds a bit strange too). If so, it must somehow be possible to change the default style.
    I have tried to change the default style via TextEdit (which does not use the default style as default, but spacing 1.0x and tab stop at each centimeter) and several other applications (Bean, MacJournal, Notebook) in the following way: select a piece of text with the intended format, open the document styles panel, click 'Add to Favorites', enter 'Default' as the name for the style and click 'Replace'. Unfortunately, that doesn't work. Although I do not get an error message, the Default style hasn't changed. I can save my preferred style as, for example, 'Preferred' but that does not prevent MacJournal and other applications from using Default for every new document.
    Any idea how to change this default style, or, if that is not possible, reset it to its original state?

    I suggest you have a look at [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/stationery/?src=api Stationery].
    It won't help you in defining styles, as such, but will give you templates wherein you can set up styles.

    I found some ubuntu and fedora sugestions but all by position, none by name

    Arch is putting this kernel under a submenu - would this pose problems for setting it as the default?
    In /etc/default/grub you can use the name of your entry you wish to use as default
    GRUB_DEFAULT='Arch Linux, with Linux core repo kernel'
    You can tell grub to stop using submenus by doing:
    GRUB_DISABLE_SUBMENU=y
    Or you can just make a purely custom menuentry in /etc/grub.d/40_custom if you'd like:
    menuentry "Other Linux" {
    linux <KERNEL IMAGE HERE>
    initrd <INITRD IMAGE HERE>

    Hello,
    In mini bridge how do I set the default view to the filmstrip?
    Thank you.

    Mark, there's a very basic .NET method on every nullable object:
    GetValueOrDefault
    EDIT: Now I see...please avoid duplicating

    To be clear:
    Put GetValueOrDefault on every nullable field used inside your 'TotalDue_Compute' sub
    You don't need to define 'TotalDue' as Nullable anymore

  • Setting the default row prefetch

    Hello!
    Setting batch sizes for writing is easy but how do you set the read prefetch? I want the driver to prefetch e.g. 100 rows for every round trip. Usually you set the default read prefetch on the oracle driver object but how do you access that?
    Erik

    No not with a cursored stream. I want the results to return e.g. a Vector, but all reads should be prefetched. Maybe toplink sets a really high prefetch so you do not have to worry about the prefetch? Or maybe you have to use a cursored stream to use read prefetch? Does anybody know?

  • Setting the default format when exporting to spreadsheet

    Can I set the default format to be used when my end users export a report to a spreadsheet? I would like to set the default to Excel (in Office 2003 XML format).
    Currently the end user has 7 choices for creating spreadsheets if the selecte the "All Available Formats" option when generating a spreadsheet. Those options are:
    - Excel (in MHTML format)
    - Excel (in MHTML format for 2000/97)
    - Star Office 8
    - Excel (in Office 2003 XML format)
    - SAP internal XML format
    - SAP Standard (internal table)
    - Excel (in previous XXL format)
    I ran the report SALV_BS_ADMIN_MAINTAIN and selected the following criteria:
    1.) Action = create
    2.) General Data = ALL
    3.) ALV GUI / EXCEL VERSION = Excel (in Office 2003 XML format)
    If I examine the table SALV_BS_ADMIN there is a new entry where:
    OBJECT = GUI_ALV_XML_VER
    M_USER = *
    VALUE = 04
    When I run a report and export to a spreadsheet I do not see any change in my selection criteria.
    I read SAP note 1080608. This note tells you that by running the report SALV_BS_ADMIN_MAINTAIN you cannot set the default value. Is there a report I can run that will set the default value for alll the users on the system?

    Hi
    You execute the report SALV_BS_ADMIN_MAINTAIN and selected the following criteria:
    1.) Action = change
    2.) General Data = Detailed Selection
         a) Client = SAP client no.
         b) User All = User ID
    3.) ALV GUI / EXCEL VERSION = Excel (in Office 2003 XML format)
    Execute the report and Excel 2003 will be defaulted in export to excel.
