  • Setting the cookies in jsp

    Iam trying to add the cookie into local machine.Problems is i written cookie program in cookietest.jsp then i incude this jsp into index.jsp.When iam accessing the index.jsp cookies are not setting But when iam acessing cookietest.jsp cookies are adding.why index.jsp accessing time not adding??please help me how to achive this one.
    below the code snippet
    **********************cookietest.jsp***********************
    <%@ page import="java.util.Date"%>
    <%@ page import="java.net.*"%>
    <%

         Cookie cookie = new Cookie ("Venkateswarlu", "ravi");

    <BODY>
    </BODY>
    </HTML>
    **************************end*****************************
    ***********************index.jsp***************************
    <jsp:include page="/cookietest.jsp"/>
    Thanks for advace
    Venkatesearlu Ravi

    Actually this is requirment
    I have to add the that cookie code snippet to every
    page.SO what i did is i placed the cookie code
    snippet into footer.jsp.This footer jsp will include
    every page..Here cookie is not adding.
    Is there any solution.I also tried this with JSTL c:import, since the JSTL1.1 spec says that c:import covers many of the shortcomings of jsp:include.
    /p/cookies/include.jsp
    <%@ page import="java.util.Date"%>
    <%@ page import="java.net.*"%>
    <%
    Date now = new Date();
    String timestamp = now.toString();
    Cookie cookie = new Cookie ("Venkateswarlu", "ravi");
    cookie.setMaxAge(365 * 24 * 60 * 60);
    response.addCookie(cookie);
    %>
    /p/cookies/page1.jsp
    <%@ page contentType="text/html;charset=UTF-8" language="java" %>
    <%@ taglib prefix="c" uri="http://java.sun.com/jsp/jstl/core" %>
    <c:import url="/p/cookies/include.jsp"/>
    <html>
    <head><title>Page 1</title></head>
    <body>
    <%request.getCookies();%>
    </body>
    </html>
    /p/cookies/page2.jsp
    <%@ page contentType="text/html;charset=UTF-8" language="java" %>
    <%@ taglib prefix="c" uri="http://java.sun.com/jsp/jstl/core" %>
    <c:import url="/p/cookies/include.jsp"/>
    <html>
    <head><title>Page 2</title></head>
    <body>
    <%request.getCookies();%>
    </body>
    </html>
    But the result is the same as jsp:include as far as setting HTTP Headers (Cookies) is concerned.
    So the conclusion is that you can't really set HTTP headers in include files.
    Then, you can try it with Servlets instead of JSPs. But then, you'll need to call the servlet each time, before every JSP is invoked.
    I don' know how that's done. Probably through Filters
    (a wild guess)

  • JSP, Data Web Bean, BC4J: Setting the where clause of a View Object at run time

    Hi,
    I am trying to develop a data web bean in which the where clause of a View Object will be set at run time and the results of the query then displayed.
    My BC4J components are located in one project while the coding for the data web bean is in another project. I used the following code bu t it does not work. Could you please let me know what I am doing wrong?
    public void populateOSTable(int P_EmpId)
    String m_whereString = "EmpView.EMP_ID = " + P_EmpId;
    String m_OrderBy = "EmpView.EMP_NAME";
    oracle.jbo.ApplicationModule appModule = null;
    ViewObject vo = appModule.findApplicationModule("EMPBC.EMPAppModule").findViewObject("EMPBC.EMPView");
    vo.setWhereClause(m_whereString);
    vo.setOrderByClause(m_OrderBy);
    vo.executeQuery();
    vo.next();
    String empName numAttrs = vo.getAttribute(EmpName);
    System.out.println(empName);
    Thanks.

    1. In the JSP, use a RowsetNavigator bean to set the where clause and execute the query.
    2. Use a custom web bean to process the results of the query (print to HTML).
    for example:
    <jsp:useBean class="oracle.jbo.html.databeans.RowsetNavigator" id="rsn" scope="request" >
    <%
    // get the parameter from the find form
    String p = request.getParameter("p");
    String s = request.getParameter("s");
    // store the information for reference later
    session.putValue("p", p);
    session.putValue("s", s);
    // initialize the app module and view object
    rsn.initialize(application,session, request,response,out,"wt_bc_WT_bcModule.wtjoinView");
    // set the where clause string
    String theclause = "presname = '" + p + "' AND slideno=" + s;
    // set the where clause for the VO
    rsn.getRowSet().getViewObject().setWhereClause(theclause);
    rsn.getRowSet().getViewObject().executeQuery();
    rsn.getRowSet().first();
    %>
    </jsp:useBean>
    <jsp:useBean class="wt_bc.walkthruBean" id="wtb" scope="request" >
    <%
    // initialize the app module and VO
    wtb.initialize(application,session, request,response,out,"wt_bc_WT_bcModule.wtjoinView");
    wtb.render();
    %>
    In this case, the render method of my custom web bean mostly gets some session variables, and prints various content depending on the session variable values.
    Hope this helps.
    </jsp:useBean><HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
    Laura can you give the code of your walkthru bean? i wna't to initialize a viewobject, set the where clause and give that viewobject back to initialize my navigatorbar.

  • How to set the classpath and path from the jsp to call  java class function

    Hi Exprets,
    I have a requirement to call a java class function which returns a hashmap object from the jsp. The java class in present in one jar file and that jar file is location somewhere in unix path. So the requirement is to set the classpath for that jar file and then create the object of the java class and then call the function.
    If any one know how to achieve it, please reply as soon as possible.
    thanks in advance,

    It is never advisable to store large data sets in the session. But it will depend on a lot of factors:
    1. How costly is the query retrieving the data from the database?
    If it's a complex query with lots of joins and stuff, then it will be better to store it in the session as processing the query each time will take a lot of time and will decrease performance. On the other hand if the query is simple then it's advisable not to store it in the session, and fetch it each time.
    2. Are there chances for the data to become stale within a session?
    In this case storing the data is session will mean holding the stale data till the user session lasts which is not right.
    3. How many data sets does the session already holds?
    If there are large no. of data sets already present in the session, then it's strictly not advisable to store the data in the session.
    4. Does the server employ some kind of caching mechanism?
    Using session cache can definitely improve performance.
    You will have to figure out, what is the best way analyzing all the factors and which would be best in the situation. As per my knowledge, session is the only place where session specific data can be stored.
    Also, another thing, if the data set retrieved is some kind of data to be displayed in reports, then it would be better to use a pagination query, which will retrieve only the specific no. of rows at a time. A navigation provided in the UI will retrieve the next/previous data set to display.
    Thanks,
    Shakti

  • Where to set the classpath for custom classes in jsp

    Hi,
    we have created our custom classes in and ported in contentDB and that classes are internally using some jar files. Previously we have set the classpath of all the jar files provided in CDB devkit in the orion-web.xml but if are opening the explorer.jsp or any other jspx of contentDB we are getting the classcastexception and page is not opening.
    Is there any problem in setting the classpath. Please if any one knows abt this, reply as soon as possible.

    I think it is Oracle 10g Release 2... since when I click the top OAS link in the Enterprise Manager Console, it took me to 'Enterprise Manager 10g Grid Control Release 2' this page.
    And...10g Application Server Control Release 10.1.2.0.1, I think 2.0.1 means Release 2.
    Thanks and let me know if you need something else.

    Dear Saurabh,
    I guess it is possible. Here is an example I have made some time ago :
    In my html page :
    <form name="form1" METHOD=POST Action=Lang ENCTYPE="application/x-www-form-urlencoded" >
    <p>
    <select name="code" size="1">

    <option value="ISO-8859-5">Russian</option>
    <option value="ISO-8859-7">Greek</option>

    <option value="ISO-8859-4">Swedish</option>
    <option value="ISO-8859-8">Hebrew</option>
    <option value="ISO-8859-9">Turkish</option>
    </select>
    </p>
    <p>
    <textarea name="entree_text"></textarea>
    <input type="submit" name="Submit" value="Submit" >
    </p></form>
    and in my jsp :
    // Must set the content type first
    res.setContentType("text/html");
    code = req.getParameter("code");
    example = req.getParameter("entree_text");
    PrintWriter out = res.getWriter();
    // The Servlet send to the Browser the informations to format the language type
    out.println("<html><head><title>Hello World!</title><meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; charset="+code+"\"></head>");
    // System recover the general Character encoding
    String reqchar = req.getCharacterEncoding();
    out.println("<body><h1>Hello MultiLingual World!</h1>");
    out.println("You have defined an ISO of : "+code);
    out.println("<BR>This is the code of the page that is displayed in this page<BR>");
    out.println("<BR>");
    out.println("<BR>");
    out.println("Character encoding of the page is : "+reqchar);
    out.println("<BR>This is the character code in the Servlet");
    out.println("<BR>");
    out.println("<BR>");
    out.println("<BR>");
    out.println("You have typed : "+example);
    out.println("<BR>");
    out.println("");
    out.println("</body></html>");
    I think starting from this example it is surely easy to modify dynamically the jsp.
    The other possibility would be to use the Weblogic Commerce and the LOCALIZE function, so that you'll have an automatic redirection to the right jsp-encoding depending on the customer's language.
    Feel free to reply on the forum for any related issue.

  • Setting the session when link is clicked in JSP

    I have a jsp page which recieves a Map from a java class function. It retireves the element from the map and displays it onto the page as a link. Now what I want to do is whenever any link is clicked then I want to put the map in the session. How can I do that in the same page????
    I do not want to already set the session becoz that gives me problem later on.

    Ok, I understand what you are trying to do now. Unfortunately, I still don't think you have much choice. Essentially you will only ever have 4 ways of persisting the data:
    1. In memory on the server (eg Session)
    2. On disk on the server (eg database)
    3. In memory on the client (eg Applet or maybe Javascript)
    4. On disk on the client (eg signed applet writing to local file system)
    The "standard" approach is to store all of this sort of stuff on the server, so you have a choice between 1 and 2.
    I assume your "Employee" data is in a database or LDAP directory? (or some form of "on disk" persistence), and you are querying this data store to populate the objects in memory?
    If so, there is a way you can avoid persisting in memory for a long time, but because you will have to persist "somewhere" you will only have option 2 left.. on disk.
    In the code where you initially retrieve the data from the data store for the first JSP, you can put the Map in the HttpServletRequest object rather than the session (request.setAttribute()), then access this in the first JSP to render the list. When you get to the second JSP however, this object will be out of scope and you won't have access to it anymore so you will have to query the datastore again for the specific record (based on an ID passed from the first JSP). So when you hit "back", the first JSP should execute again and requery the entire list again.
    This approach "shifts" the load from a memory load to a disk load (and you will also be affected by database performance issues), so you may not solve your performance desires.
    Alternatively, if the list of Employees is the same for all users (ie, it is an entire list and not a "filtered" list based on some search criteria), then you could store the list in memory at "application scope". Basically you would just load the Map on application start-up and put it into a static variable somewhere. I suspect this won't meet your needs as typically the list you generate would be based on a specific query (I am guessing here).
    All that being said, your concerns about memory usage and performance may be unwarranted. If you do some quick calculations about the memory usage of each Employee object, you may find it is a trivial amount. (Of course you won't be able to tell definatively how much memory it is using, but you may be able to hazard an educated guess). Remember also that things like Strings are "immutable" (never change) and are drawn from a "pool" of Strings. So, if you have two objects which contain the String "Java", they will actually both be using the same bit of memory.
    Also, a word of warning: If you choose to maintain your "in memory" model, you may run into concurrency issues. Consider the situation where the initial query generates a list of Employees. The user traverses the list looking at the details of each employee. Meanwhile, another user is changing the details of an Employee on disk, but the first user hasn't looked at the details of this Employee from their list yet. Because the list the first user is viewing is in memory, it won't reflect any alterations made since it was generated. So when the first user views the details of the Employee that the second user altered on disk, they will see the "old" details for that Employee.
    So, in summary the only two choices I can think of that are reasonable are:
    1. Keep things the same but don't destroy the Map in the session so the first page always has it, and suffer the memory issues. (remembering the warning above)
    2. Limit the scope of the data to the "request" only, and re-query every time. This will have poorer performance from a "response-time" perspective but avoids concurrency issues.
    My recommendation:
    If the list is "small" (sub 100 items), and you don't care about the risk of viewing "old" data, keep it in the Session. If the list is too big, perhaps you could look at only storing the first X number or records in the session and only displaying the first X number of records in the first JSP (like a search engine does)
    If the list is big, and/or you DO care about viewing old data, maintain the persistence on disk. If you choose this option, performance can be enhanced by using connection pools, stored procedures etc.
    At the end of the day, memory will only cause a performance issue if you "run out". Maybe the solution is to simply add more memory to the server?
    Hope some of this helps.

  • How to set the HOME link from two frame jsp page to no frame main page?

    Hi all,
    i have one main jsp page named as main.jsp.
    From the main.jsp, i can click the button and link to the twoFrame.jsp.
    This twoFrame.jsp have another two different jsp inside the frame called Aframe.jsp and Bframe.jsp.
    i try to put HOME in the Aframe.jsp(one of the page inside twoFrame.jsp) but only the Aframe.jsp manage to link to main.jsp but the Bframe still there.
    My question is: How to set the HOME link button from this twoFrame.jsp to the main.jsp? what i want is from twoFrame.jsp(two frame) to main.jsp(no frame).
    rgds,
    Bryan523

    No offense, but this is basic HTML. You shuold look into learning HTML before getting too deep into JSP. Try this: http://www.w3schools.com/html/default.asp
    But as a more specific answer, you have to set a target for the link to the _parent of your frame:
    <a href="main.jsp" target="_parent">Home</a>

    Can anybody tell me how to solve the problem. Thanks a lot.

    You will have to create the servlet mapping in the Web.xml file
    <servlet>
                 <servlet-name>FirstServlet</servlet-name>
                 <servlet-class>FirstServlet</servlet-class>
        </servlet>
    <servlet-mapping>
            <servlet-name>FirstServlet</servlet-name>
            <url-pattern>/servlet/FirstServlet</url-pattern>
        </servlet-mapping>

  • JSP, DataWebBean: How to dynamically set the where clause of query and display record

    Hi,
    I am reposting this question as per suggestions made by Mr. Dwight.
    I have used ViewCurrentRecord web bean to display records from EMP table. I have to use the Dept_Id_FK from the current
    record of the EMP table to display corresponding records of Dept table. I have a view object called DeptView in my Business
    Components which selects all the records from the Dept table.
    How do I get the value of Dept_Id_FK and use it to display the required records of the Dept table?
    I tried to declare a variable and get the value of Dept_Id_FK but it did not work. My code is as follows:
    <%! String m_DeptId = null; %>
    <jsp:useBean id="RowViewer" class="oracle.jbo.html.databeans.ViewCurrentRecord" scope="request">
    <%
    RowViewer.initialize(pageContext, "EMPApp_EMP_EMPAppModule.EMPView1");
    RowViewer.setReleaseApplicationResources(false);
    RowViewer.getRowSet().next();
    m_DeptId = (String)RowViewer.getRowSet().getCurrentRow().getAttribute("DeptIdFk");
    %>
    </jsp:useBean>
    Thanks.
    null

    First of all, Thank you very much for making use of the new topic format. It is very much appreciated.
    As for your question, I think there are several different ways to accomplish what I think you want to do.
    1. Create a view object that includes both Emp and Dept entities and join them there. In this case, your query would look something like this:
    Select e.empno,e.name,...,d.dname,d.loc from emp e, dept d
    where e.deptno = d.deptno
    You should be able to create a JSP off of this view object that contains both the employee and department information. In this case, BC4J takes care of the foreign key to primary key coordination.
    2. In order to set a dynamic where clause for a view, you need to do the following in your usebean tag:
    rsn.initialize(application,session, request,response,out,"DeptView");
    rsn.getRowSet().getViewObject().setWhereClause("deptno=" &#0124; &#0124; m_DeptId);
    rsn.getRowSet().getViewObject().executeQuery();
    rsn.getRowSet().first();
    You will need to do this in a separate usebean tag from the EmpView, since the usebean can only initialize one view object.
    In other words, you would have your ViewCurrentRecord bean tag for the EmpView, then a separate one for the DeptView where you use the above code to set the where clause to display just the information for the department you want.
    Another option, but one I'm not sure would work as well, is to create a master-detail JSP to do this for you. Usually a master-detail is a one-to-many (one department to many employees). Your request appears to be the reverse, but might still be doable using the same mechanism.
    You set up relationships between views in your BC4J project using View Links. If you used the BC4J project wizard and created default views, some of these links may have been created for you. They are created when BC4J detects a foreign key to primary key relationship in the database.
    You can create your own View Links using the View Link wizard. Select your BC4J project node and choose Create View Link... from the context menu. You will be asked to select a source view (Emp), and a target view (Dept), then select the attribute in each view that related the two of them (deptno).
    Next, you need to reflect this new relationship setting in your application module. Select your app module and choose Edit from the context menu. On the data model page, select the EmpView node in the Selected list. Now select the DeptView node in the available list and shuttle it over. You should see DeptView1 via yourlink appear indented under the EmpView node. Save and rebuild your BC4J project to reflect the changes.

  • How does one set the option to pre-compile JSPs on deployment in WL 10.3?

    Outside of manually creating and modifying weblogic.xml, that is.
    There used to be a tool Weblogic Builder that gave a graphical interface to modify weblogic.xml. Has this been replaced in 10.3 or just thrown away?
    Also, can I set the option at all in an app deployed as a war without exploding the war manually.
    Thanks.

    You might be able to do this with a deployment plan. If doing this requires adding an element, as opposed to simply modifying the value of an element, then it might not help.
    It would be conceivable to add this capability as part of a build process, as you can use the "xmltask" Ant task library, to automatically modify the file. You'd also have to add in tasks that automatically exploded and reconstruct the WAR file. At least you wouldn't have to do this manually.
    I doubt there's any way to change this in an already deployed app, without redeploying the app.

    Hello,
    Please avoid any personal information within these forums...they are public, and you have just posted your personal email address for all spammers to troll for and use. Not wise.
    Rather, you need to contact your carrier. To use the proprietary RIM Push email capability, you must have an adequate data plan from your carrier. The carriers host BIS for their BB users. Typically, BIS is not available via generic data plans. Many carriers call what is necessary The Blackberry Data Plan. Whatever they call it, it is the carrier who delivers BIS to their BB users -- contact them for assistance. Once you have a BIS-capable data plan on your BB (at whatever fees your carrier will charge, btw), you will then have Personal Email added to the email setup wizard.
    Good luck!
