Setting the telnet session welcome note

Hello!
I wanted to ask you how to properly set the BANNER variable in the /etc /default /telnetd file, as a welcome note. For example, when I set the following in the file:
BANNER="SunOS 5.9, Solaris9"
The telnet session welcome screen then shows:
SunOS 5.9, Solaris 9 login:
Now I want that this login word appears after at least one or more lines, like this:
SunOS 5.9, Solaris 9
login:
Please help me out, how to set the BANNER variable properly spanning over multiple lines.

in vi editor you must insert 2 line feed characters and then a cariage return.
If you need to insert control characters in vi such as line feed or carriage return you must type Control-V then the next Control character for them to be recognized as control characters.
<Control-l>=linefeed
<Control-m=Carriage return
<Control-g=Bell
In your case it would be:
<Control-v<Control-l><Control-v><Control-l><Control-v><Control-m>

Banner variable I've not set this ! instead i've created a file with necessary inputs saying "Bla Bla access restricted so on " maka shure u add this file to the /etc directory file name is issue " /etc/issue" the contents of this file would be displayed if any 1 connects through telnet, it can be used as a welcome message as well as a warning to potential guys who play around by adding a line saying Ur activity is being logged.

"Hiding" the SSID will do nothing to protect you from hackers.....and anyone else who wants to see your network, since there a numerous free utilities on the Internet that will reveal your network in seconds.
On the other hand, it might keep a few honest neighbors from seeing the name of your wireless network.
iOS devices often have trouble connecting to a "hidden" network, so you may need to display the network if your iPhone, iPad, etc have trouble connecting to the network.

Assuming that you have Lion, Mountain Lion or Mavericks on your MacBook Pro.....
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
Click on the AirPort Extreme icon, then click Edit in the smaller window
Click the Wireless tab at the top of the next window
Click Wireless Options at the bottom of the window
Enter a check mark in the box next to Create Hidden Network
Click Save, then click Update and allow a full minute for the AirPort Extreme to restart

[SOLVED] How do I set the default umask? Not in /etc/profile

Hi guys
This is probably not what you expect to hear about umasks... I have set it in /etc/profile:

umask 002
If I log on via ssh, my umask is 0002. I can start a vnc server and a konsole inside, which has umask 0002. So far so good...
I also have a vnc server running as a service. If I open a konsole from inside this vnc, bash says umask 0022. So there must be a more-default setting for umask, than /etc/profile. I found a setting in /etc/login.defs and changed it to "UMASK 007", then even rebooted, but bash inside the vnc service stays with umask 0022.
It seems not to be a setting of KDE, since both vnc sessions have different umasks, inherited by their parents. What provides the environment for the service and how can I control it?

on my server i have something like this in ~/.profile:
# the default umask is set in /etc/profile; for setting the umask
# for ssh logins, install and configure the libpam-umask package.
umask 002
and at home i have ~/.bash_profile, but no umask in it.
or is this answer too obvious? not quite sure i get your problem.

Setting the Sort Priority is not working

All,
I have multiple roles where I have set the Complex workset under the roles as the Entry Point instead of the roles themselves. I also have set the Sort Priority to arrange the worksets as I want them. The issue is that the Sort Priority is not taking affect. Has anyone seen this issue before or have and idea on how to solve it?

Sorting of navigation nodes can be done in the Same Level.
Sort Priority is reserved from 1 - 10 for Administrative purpose.
So please make sure that you are sorting in a specific level by giving sort Priority from 10 onwards to 100.

My new Firefox ver 29 always starts maximized how do i set the window size and not maximized?

I had reinstall my Windows 7 (win 7 pro 64bit)
so i had to reinstall firefox as well, installed ver 27 and updated it to version 29
now when i start firefox it will start maximized and i want to set the window size when it starts,
why the size of the window will not change and it will start maximized all the time?

Does anyone know how Oracle Forms (11g) sets the V$SESSION.MODULE value?

Hi,
Older versions of forms required explicit calls to dbms_application_info package to set the name of the forms module (or other useful diagnostic info made visible on the database via v$session module, action and client_info).
It seems that the application we currently manage (third party vendor) sets this, too. But I cannot find any call to DBMS_APPLICATION_INFO in the source fmb, pll, olb or any database package code called from the forms sessions.
Can anybody confirm my suspicion that the V$SESSION.MODULE attribute is now being set by low-level Forms library code, independently of application code?
If so, it's a great feature, I just want peace of mind! I've searched google, this forum and Oracle Support site for any reference to such a behaviour, but struck out.

if yes if this coems again could you just stop screen share and try it again.

normally starting rmi client with a policy file. and start the client with such JVM parameters: java.security.policy and java.rmi.codebase.
But in jsp how can i specify these JVM parameters.Or can i make the policy in code not in

You can specifiy inline with code otherwise malicious code would use it the grant all permissions before it wrecks havoc on the system.
When your Servlet engine starts (Tomcat, JBoss, depends on which you are using) there will either be an option to pass in additional policy file, or a policy file will exist inthe servlet engine directory path for you to edit and add your entries to.

My browser opens with the previous session page, not my homepage. Why? How can I reset it to open my homepage everytime?

I want my homepage to open to my homepage everytime I open my browser. I think the browser is saving tabs from my previous session but I'm not sure. I'm really beginning to get aggravated with this browser and I love firefox...please help me fix this issue.
BTW, I tried to go to 'tools/options...' but I have no idea where my 'tools' is. When I click the firefox button on the top left of my browser it doesn't give me a 'tools' tab, and options just talks about toolbars and such. I don't get it.

For access to the Tools menu:
Firefox, along with a number of Windows programs, will show the menubar (File, Edit, View etc...) when you press the Alt key. You can then choose 'Options' from the Tools menu.
Alternatively, click on 'Options' in the Firefox Button menu.
(If you'd like to keep the menubar around without pressing Alt, click the arrow next to 'Options' and select 'Menu Bar'. The Firefox button will be replaced with the menubar.)
Setting your homepage:
Open the Options panel and select the 'General' tab if it is not already selected. You can change what happens 'When Firefox starts' from here.

Can't set the printer (print option not working) in Photoshop CC for Mac (Yosemite)

I can print from all other apps but a couple of days ago Photoshop just stopped being able to print to my HP Color Laserjet. Photoshop either gives me an error message: will not print until a printer has been set OR it just crashes. I have de-installed and re-installed Photoshop, but the problem did not go away.

I've tried to add the crash report here but the comment won't save -- should I be sending it to you directly?
Also, FYI there is someone trolling this forum, posing as an Adobe emplyee who tried to convince that he would de-install my cc app and sell me a different version of Photoshop -!

Every time I save a gif on photoshop it automatically sets the frames to "do not dispose"

Then I'll open it to change the set frame of the layers to "automatic" but it goes back to "do not dispose" How can I stop this from happening? I already reset my settings on photoshop.

You can use Revel (an alternative cloud storage and sharing choice) to store files in the cloud now if you like. Currently it supports jpg files only. Can I set the Increment/Decrement to not visible by default?

The Increment/Decrement attachment to ALL the Numeric controls is a nuisance. Give me a palette that does not have the Increment/Decrement visible by default and my life will be MUCH better. I would not mind clicking on a check box if it was needed.
How can I make it NOT visible by default?

It took me a while but I got it done! I use the Modern style so it is not that easy as it would be with Silver. I just think Silver looks 'Bloated'.
Now I don't have to turn off that check mark everytime i place a numeric control! YEA
