Setting the validity of a user password

Hi,
I want to set the validity for a user with my web dynpro application, not the account.
With the IUserAccount Object I cannot see which method should be the working one.

     You have the following options with IUserAccount interface:
         setValidToDate(Date date)
         or setLocked(boolean lock, int reason) - if you want to the lock the user.
     Did you checked these methods? Hope these will solve ur issue.

Why must I set the AD as "default user store " when use Kerberos scheme ???

Hi ,
I am using kerberos scheme to authenticate user by OAM after user logged into the AD domain . It works well when there is only 1 AD domain ,for I can set that AD as the default identity store so that OAM can find user from the store and set the header .
But when there are two totally different AD domains with different users , there will be a question. That is , I can only set one AD domain as the default identity store. So when I use the other AD domain to visit webgate protected resource, OAM notice me the the user/password error. But if the AD user exist in both AD domains, it will be OK, because the user mapping is finished correctly.

It seems OAM must set the AD as "default user store " , and only if so , AD domain users can login to webgate protected resources by kerberos .
So, how can I make 2 AD available together ? Can you kindly give some advice? It will be very appreciated.

How to set the Valid-to-date (datub) of a BOM item

Is there a way I can set the "Valid-to-date" of a BOM item?
According to SAP documentation...

I do not see a field for the "Valid-to" date in the function module - CS_BOM_EXPL_MAT_V2. There is one for the "Valid-From" date called DATUV. But I would like to change the "Valid-from" date of the BOM item.
Or is there another way to set the BOM item's valid-to date using this function module which I am missing?

"SXMBSysErrorAlerts, Category INTERNAL, Error code: AE_DETAILS_GET_ERROR error text: Error when reading the access data (URL, user, password) for the Adapter Engine".
Please tell what can be the cause of error. Where are the access data (URL, user, password) for the Adapter Engine read from?

We are in a high school environment with 500 plus computers and would like to set the school newspaper website as the default homepage for all users of all computers.

Use a mozilla.cfg file in the Firefox program folder to lock prefs or specify default values.
Place a file local-settings.js in the defaults\pref folder where you also find the file channel-prefs.js to specify using mozilla.cfg.

How to set the portlet preference per user instead of global setting

I am using IBM JSR168/ JSF, In my portlet Edit mode I am trying to set a value per user preference , but it always set for all other users even this is just a normal user, I think when an administrator set any preference value then those preferences value will be set for all the users. but in my case it is a normal user has right for the edit mode and hence the preference set by the user in edit mode will be set for his portlet instance only. So why it sets for all the users preference???...... Thanks a lot for your help!!!

Automatically set the mail profile for users

Hello all,
Is it possible to set the default delivery profile of all users to email and add the email device as well.
I have integrated OBIEE with LDAP, so I can read all mail adressess of the users.
But for now every user has to 'configure' his own delivery profile.
(I meand the screen when you go to settings -> my account)
Is it possible to set this profile automatically?
can't find anything about this, but I think it is strange that it can't be done...
So hope anyone out here have a good tip for me!

Yes it is possible to have users' email addresses set automatically, it is what the SA System subject area is for. However I am not sure whether it is possible to get the email from LDAP. The only method I am aware of is to have a database table which holds the user's contact details and then set up SA System to use this table. The user will then have a delivery profile called "System profile" and a device called "System email" which will be the default, the email address for this device will be the one from the table and cannot be changed (although the user can override it by creating a new device/profile.

Setting the local builtin SAM administrator password

Greetings,
Currently we set the local SAM administrator password by supplying it directly in the "Apply Windows settings" TS step.
I do have a base 64 encoded version of that same password in customsettings.ini and I would like to use that variable. Let's call it "encpwd".
In the "Apply Window Settings" step, can I code the variable name in the text field when I specify "Enable the account and specify the local administrator password" as %encpwd%? I suspect that this field may not accept variables.
Alternatively, can I code in my customsettings.ini "adminpassword=encpwd" ? And if I set this in customsettings.ini will it override whatever is set in the "Apply windows Settings" step (i.e. would I just set this to 'randomly generate...')?

It's not clear what deployment method you are using here. MDT LTI, or SCCM ZTI?
For MDT LTI, you could just add the base64 encoded value *directly* into the unattend.xml file, and then remove the adminpassword entry in the zticonfigure.xml to prevent overwrite.
You might be able to code your own solution to add base64 encoded data directly into the variable namespace by overriding the "Public Property Let Item()" entry in ztiutility.vbs to override the "ObfuscateEncode()" call.
However, note, that this is not 100% secure (nothing is), your password is still recoverable as plaintext.

How do set the system parameter for user defaults?

When we are creating new users they are getting the European default for date format and decimal format. I have found is there is a structure BAPIDEFAUL that contains these values. However, I have not found the configuration for changing these values. Does anyone have the answer to this problem?

with USERS_GEN, users are created with BBP_USER_CREATECP.
This function uses DEFAULTS to pass parameters.
But those parameters are not available in interface or file upload
USERS_GEN will take default values in system parameters:
Set date format and decimal format like in system parameters
data: defaults   type bapidefaul.
clear defaults.
CALL 'C_SAPGPARAM'
       ID 'NAME' FIELD 'zcsa/moddatfm'
       ID 'VALUE' FIELD DEFAULTS-DATFM.
CALL 'C_SAPGPARAM'
       ID 'NAME' FIELD 'zcsa/moddcpfm'
       ID 'VALUE' FIELD DEFAULTS-DCPFM.
So, this is the only way to "customize" it: define system parameters zcsa/moddatfm & zcsa/moddcpfm in RZ10.

I need to set the homepage for 100 users to a local intranet site. I see articles about the subject but the stop short of telling me how to use the script. // lockPref("browser.startup.hompage",0); where should I enter the URL?

I must allow users to use Firefox or Internet explorer while I can easliy contorl the homepage using a GPO for IE I cannot do the same for firefox. I found great information on a way that I can create a config file and then promulgate it to the users but trhe script information is incomplete I need to know exactly where to enter the desired name for the default browser

Also, the constant ENGLISH is not an array, but just a single Locale object.

Setting the inputdate component on user's time and date in JDeveloper 11g.

Can somebody help me non this? I was wondering on how will I get the user's time and date as the default time and date for my inputdate component because it always shows the server's date and time on where my application is placed.

1 - unless you tell us more then anything would be a wild guess - what happens? what error messages do you get?
and why would you use iPhoto rather than Mail anyway - mail has more templates, has a sent mail box, uses you address book lists and lets you control the message format so PC users can receive photos - and works for everyone

How do I set the duration when users are required to change their passwords? This is an internal control measure to ensure control over users' logins.

You can also set the lifetime of a single password dependent on it's "idle" status:
- Initial password at user creation. (e.g. 5 days)
- Reset password by admin. (e.g. 1 day)
- Productive password not used (e.g 91 days)
.. and the minimum validity of the password, regardless of how often it is used (not idle).
- Productive password expiration time. (e.g. 90 days)
You can also manually observe what is going on via report/transaction RSUSR200.
If you take a look at the documentation on the parameters in the link already provided, you will see the logic and the dependencies between them. The selection fields of RSUSR200 reflect the same.
How you rate the risk of passwords and these settings, also depends on many other things - most notably how disciplinced admins are at using the password wizard (in my opinion).

How to prevent user password being reset to the same password?

Hi,
As you all know, domain admin has the power to reset user password. Let's think of the following scenario:
if an admin lets a user reset his password to use the same string, this action means he could nullify company policy on password which requires user's last N passwords being recorded in the history.
We could very well imagine that the admin reset his own personal password in order to bypass company policy.
I have asked partner forum to see if there's a way to prevent such thing, but the reply I got is "No".
I wanted to know if anyone of you have any idea to prevent such thing from happening?
Or if it's possible to get the hash value of users past N password to see if he's always using the same password?

Good rules is better alternative to complex policy.
Combine password history with time interval between changes.

Password reuse is an important concern in any organization. Many users want to reuse the same password for their account over a long period of time. The longer the same password is used for
a particular account, the greater the chance that an attacker will be able to determine the password through brute force attacks. If users are required to change their password, but nothing prevents them from using the old password or continually reusing a
small number of passwords, the effectiveness of a good password policy is greatly reduced.
Specifying a low number for Enforce password history allows users to continually use the same small number of passwords repeatedly. If you do not also set Minimum
password age, users can change their password as many times in a row as necessary in order to reuse their original password.
If you set Enforce password history to a number greater than zero, users must come up with a new password every time they are required to change their old one. This
improves security, but it can increase the risk that users will write down their passwords so they do not forget them.
If you set the value to the maximum of 24, it helps to ensure that vulnerabilities caused by password reuse are kept to a minimum.
For this policy setting to be effective in your organization, configure Minimum password age so that you do not allow passwords to be changed immediately. Enforce
password history should be set at the level that combines a reasonable maximum password age with a reasonable password change interval requirement for users.
