Hello joancoral,
I happened to see your post to the forum from a couple of years back regarding email retrieval on AOL. Specifically, you were having problems with their server sending an error message something like "user name and password for imap.aol.com is incorrect".  I am also having the same issue now.  Did your problem get resolved, and if so, could you share with me what you did to correct the problem?   Thanks.

Have you tried setting it up using Other or Advance Setup? Here are the POP settings of AOL:
AOL Mail POP incoming server address: pop.aol.com
AOL Mail POP outgoing server address: smtp.aol.com
AOL Mail POP user name: Your AOL Mail screen name (what precedes "@aol.com" in your AOL Mail address; if the address is [email protected], for instance, the screen name is "me")
AOL Mail POP password: Your AOL Mail password
AOL Mail POP port (Incoming): 995
AOL Mail POP port (Outgoing): 587
AOL Mail POP TLS/SSL required (both for incoming and outgoing): yes
On Lumia devices, Advance setup doesn't have fields for Ports and Logon authentication. To enable this you'll need to include it on the incoming and outgoing server. For exam. "[email protected]:995:1". The number "1" indicates that the TLS/SSL will be enabled.

I'm having a similar problem, but I do have the key and is not working anyway.
My old pc was running on windows 7 and my new one is an apple running on Lion.
My phone is an Iphone IV and I can see all the bookmarks there.
In order to sync, what I did was click on the "I don't have the device with me", I entered the key that was provided and the process finish ok. It says congratulations, etc, etc.
But the bookmarks are not there, I tried merging data and replacing data on this computer options but is the same.
    Any suggestions?

I then found one suggestion that the problem might involve permissions. The suggestion was to right click PhotoshopElementsOrganizer.exe in its installation folder (which on my computer is at at D:\Photo\Elements 11 Organizer) and run Organizer as an administrator. This also failed.
I don't understand why running the exe from the installation folder would have worked.
I would have simply tried to run that exe from its real location :
Sorry, I can't help you more about permissions...

If your Mac is running OS X 10.7.5 or higher, you first have to go to System Preferences>iCloud, sign in with your Apple ID to create your account, then check Mail.  This will automatically add an iCloud email account.
To transfer your AOL mail, you need to drag and drop them into the same folder in the iCloud account.  If you have any folders in your AOL mail, you would need to create folders by the same name in the iCloud account, then open each folder, select all the mail in the folder and drag and drop them on the folder by the same name in your iCloud account.  (To create a folder in the iCloud account, click the "+" at the bottom of your folder list, choose Create Mailbox, choose iCloud as the location and give it a name.)

  • HT4859 My Apple ID is my AOL email address. Since I set up iCloud & another email address, I only have an Inbox.  I kept getting a IMAP error.  How do I restore to a previous iCloud backup before this happened?

It may be that the process you used to change the iCloud ID created these issues.  What I would suggest you do is the following:
If you have any photo stream photos on your device that you want to keep, save them to your camera roll by opening your photo stream album, tapping Edit, tap the photos, tap Share, tap Save to Camera Roll.
Go to icloud.com on your computer, sign into your iCloud account and check to confirm that your data is all there.
Assuming your data is on icloud.com, go to Settings>iCloud on your device, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted.  This will only delete the account and your synced data from your device but not from iCloud.  Your data will be synced back to your device when you sign back in.
Go to Settings>iCloud, sign back in with the correct iCloud ID and password and turn your iCloud data syncing preferences back on.  This will sync your iCoud data back to your device and recreate your iCloud email account.
Try your Mail again and see if it works properly now.

Not easily, no. The better solution would be to put a passcode on the phone.

  • How do I sync aol email on PC and iPad?

When I delete AOL email on my IPad, they remain on my PC. When I delete them on my PC, it deletes on my IPad. How can I delete on my iPad and have it delete on my PC as well.

You need to set the email up as IMAP in both places. This should happen by default on the iPad if you used the AOL preset to add the account. I suspect it's set up as POP on the PC.

    Thanks,

There isn't a way to transfer your existing AOL emails to your iCloud email account without opening each one and emailing them to your iCloud email address.  However, you can stop accumulating addiional email in your AOL account by going to your email preferences for your account on the AOL website and set up your account to forward all incoming email to your iCloud account.  (I assume AOL allows you to set up email forwarding as it is a fairly standard feature with most email providers.)

  • I can't set up my email account on my ipod touch.  It keeps saying that I have to use a valid email address for this account

I can't set up my email on my ipod touch.  It keeps saying I have to use a valid email address for this account.  Help!

    Hi Annie,
Make sure when you are setting up your e-mail account that you enter in your entire e-mail address.  If you have a Yahoo (includes any e-mail account associated with Yahoo), G-mail, or Aol after entering in your password it should automatically set up.  Any other e-mail address you will have to manually set the account up.

  • How can i use my aol email address to create apple id?, how can i use my aol email address to create apple id?, how can i use my aol email address to create apple id?

I'm trying to set up icloud account and it won't accept my current apple ID which is my aol email address.  I don't want to have to use a me.com address.

You will need to remove it as your rescue email : log into your account via the 'manage your apple id' button on http://appleid.apple.com, select the 'Password And Security' section on your account's screen, and answer the two security questions that show - you should then be taken to another screen where you can change or remove your rescue email address.
Then try logging out of your account and then log back in and see if you can then use it as your primary email address.

  • How do I install AOL email as my preferred email to use on Firefox?

I have had an AOL account for more than a decade and do not want to change it to some other email service.
I now have a MAC G5 Duel Core and can find no way to have Firefox go automatically to AOL email services when I am on Firefox and want to send an email from my AOL accounts.
What happens is that a screen comes up and attempts to force me to enroll in a MAC email program, which I do not want for two reasons:
    1. I have a long established set of email accounts with AOL and do not want to change them.
    2. I already pay over $100 a year to AOL for my service with them, so it makes no sense to pay another $100 a year to get an additional mail service from MAC.

  • Unknown error when trying to set up aol mail

AOL just stopped working as of 10am today!  I sent mails this morning and now I cannot get AOL to work.  I deleted the account and tried to set up AOL Mail again and I keep getting an "Unknown Error" message!  HELP......

    Hey there jsmugs,
It sounds like your AOL account is not working in your account, and you also cannot set it back up. I recommend the troubleshooting from the article named:
    iOS: Troubleshooting Mail
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3899
Tap Safari and attempt to load a webpage (try any webpage). If you can load a webpage, then your device has Internet access. If you are unable to load a webpage, follow these troubleshooting steps.Try to use an alternate Internet connection if available:
    Try a different Wi-Fi connection
If your iOS device has an active cellular data plan, tap Settings > Wi-Fi and turn off Wi-Fi.
If the affected email account is provided by your Internet provider, see if your issue is resolved while connected to your home Wi-Fi network.*
Log in to your email provider's website to ensure that the account is active and the password is correct.
    Restart your iOS device.
Delete the affected email account from your device.
Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
Choose the affected email account, then tap Delete Account.
    Add your account again.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the best,
    Sterling
