  • Setting locale in Forte

    Hi,
    I have just installed Forte 2.0 CE on my US English Windows 2000 currently running in the Japanese Locale.
    The inital installation of Forte installed fine without any weird quirks but after the intial update, i think it has read some locate setting from my registry and now, i am left with parts of Forte in English and other parts in Japanese. I can't figure out what is causing this but is there a way to fix this problem but is there a setting or somethign somehwere that sets the entire locale setting of forte in English?
    If there are any questions, i can be reached at [email protected]
    Thanks a bunch!

  • Re: How to call a Forte service from a Power Builderapplication

    Ernesto,
    There are two main ways that you can integrate PowerBuilder with a set
    of Forte services:
    First, you can use the tried-and-true ExternalConnection approach. This
    would require some way of performing socket-level communication through
    the PB application, which may be possible natively through PB (I'm rusty
    on my PB skills), or you could get a third-party OCX to perform the
    socket-level communication.
    Second, you can, in Forte 3.0, set Forte services up as OLE servers,
    into which your PowerBuilder application can call.
    The OLE integration with Forte is discussed in the Integrating with
    Windows and Macintosh manual, and ExternalConnections is discussed (I
    think) in the Integrating with External Systems manual.
    The best way to integrate Forte and PowerBuilder is ultimately up to
    your team. You want to make sure that you choose the option that will
    make your project successful, and determining which option best utilizes
    you existing skill sets is an important consideration. Additionally,
    you might want to perform some limited testing to determine which
    approach will perform the best within your environment constraints. The
    nice thing about Forte (and I know I've said this before) is that it is
    relatively simple to integrate anything with anything! :)
    I hope this helps.

  • Has anyone been able to get Forte on Linux with j2sdk1.4.0

    I am noticing a trend in the posts from people asking questions about setting up Forte on Linux. (1) Setting the JDK_HOME doesn't seem to work too well; (2) replies tend to reference old URL's or the vague URL's provided by SUN; (3) if not (2) then no reply at all.
    I was able to get Forte working with the JDK1.3.1, but setting JAVA_HOME with the sdk doesn't work with the same approach.
    Any ideas?
    Solution may be:
    If replies = 0 then JBuilder;

    I have my own solution. Jedit.

  • RE: Accessing multiple Env from single Client-PC

    Look in the "System Management Guide" under connected environments page
    72. This will allow services in your primary environment to find
    services in your connected environment. However, there is a bug
    reported on this feature which is fixed in 2F4 for the HP and H1 for all
    other servers. The following is from Forte:
    The connected environments bug that was fixed in 2F4 is #24282. The
    problem
    was in the nodemgr/name server source code and caused the following to
    occur:
    Service1 is in connected envs A and B.
    Client has env A as primary, B as secondary.
    Envmgr A dies before the client has ever made a call to Service1.
    Afer env A is gone, client makes a call to Service1 which causes Envmgr
    B to
    seg fault.
    You should upgrade your node manager/env manager nodes to 2F4. The 2F2
    development and runtime clients are fully compatible with 2F4 servers.

    Hi, All!
    Is there anybody has any idea to access multiple environments from
    single client-PC? I have to have multiple environments because each
    environment resides geographically remote node and network bandwidth,
    reliability are not good enough to include all the systems into single
    environment.
    Using Control Panel for doing this is not easy for those who are not
    familiar with Windows. The end-user tend to use just single application
    to access all necessary services.
    I could consider two option to doing this:
    1. Make some DOS batch command file to switch different environment
    like, copying back/forward between environment repositories and
    set up forte.ini for changing FORTE_NS_ADDRESS. After then, invoke
    proper client partition(ftexec).
    2. Duplicate necessary services among each environment.
    But, these two options have many drawbacks in terms of system
    management(option 1), performance(option 2) and others.
    Has anybody good idea to implement this? Any suggestion would be
    appreciated.

  • Re: Japanese Database

    Hello Billy,
    When we added support for double byte characters to
    Ambassador, we had similar concerns. We installed
    Forte and Ambassador onto a PC running the Japanese
    version of MS Windows and tested Kanji support storing
    Kanji text in the same MS Access database we use for
    storing western language text. This worked fine.
    I expect it will also work fine with Sybase.
    If you have Forte and the Japanese version of
    MS Windows, I suggest you download the demo version
    of the Ambassador Translation Wizard, and you can
    see this in action.
    You can find the demo version at:
    http://www.lindhard.com/forte/ambassador.html
    Good luck!
    Kerry
    We have been contacted by a company that would
    like us to develop a database that contains
    information from Japan. We are in the very early
    stages of conversation, however, I think want us
    to store names and addresses etc in their native
    language. We would convert and store all survey
    answers etc. into English and store them that way.
    I was curious if any out there has any experience
    in using the Kanji character set in Forte' and or
    Sybase. We are just in the feasibility phase now
    and any help would be appreciated.

    Answer, as best I can discover, is that FileMaker are aware of this issue, and have released v4 of FileMaker 11 to fix it for Lion. And told everyone using version 10 (which I believe I only bought last year) that they can go jump.
    Lovely bunch, FileMaker. I'd definitely urinate on them if they were on fire.

  • Cg produces wrong code with -O

    We're facing strange problem with Frote 6u1 on sparc. When -O switch is used, compiler performs aggressive optimization and all inline calls are being inlined(and that's good). But seems that under certain circumstances calls are not properly inlined inside exception handler. For instance:
    catch (const OSE::CNewOrderData::CBlockException& _crefNewOrdDataExc) {
    const char* l_cszRejectCode;
    l_cszRejectCode = m_ErrorRepository.ConstructErrorCode(CErrorRepository::eInternalError);
    Definition of the called method:
    inline const char* CErrorRepository::ConstructErrorCode(CErrorRepository::EErrorPrefixes _ePrefixIndex)
    std::strcpy(m_szResultingBuffer,m_Prefixes[_ePrefixIndex].m_cszPrefix);
    return m_szResultingBuffer;
    On execution, application crashes inside strcpy, showing the following call parameters:
    i0 9
    i1 129e78
    i2 9
    i3 4f53
    i4 4f
    i5 1336c
    fp ffbbcae0
    i7 8c2a0
    Apparently strcpy is called with destination buffer address 0x9, that causes access violation. Interesting to notice that 0x9 is the first 32 bit of thrown object (_crefNewOrdDataExc). I've checked generated assembly and seems that code does not initialize $o0 befor making strcpy call. And previous value is being used.
    Removing "-O" from command line eliminates this problem.
    Can anyone comment on this ?

    Thanks for the answer,
    Here environment details:
    Solaris 7 sparc, runtime library patch: 106327-12
    Compilation command: cd release ; CC -I/export/home/vic/OSE/include -I/export/home/vic/OSE/OSELib/include -DINTERNAL_VERSION='"0.9.0.0"' -DSYS_ID_STRING=SunOS_5.7_sparc -D_UNIX_APP_ -DDAEMON -DMMGR_USED_WITH_RWSTL -DNDEBUG -O -sb -i -c /export/home/vic/OSE/src/ogwgate.cc
    It seems the problem is somehow triggered by size/complexity of the compiled code: I tried to remove couple of irrelevant headers and it seems to vanish. Compiler didn't complain about lack of disk/memory. I also recompiled it on Solaris 8 with the same set of Forte-specific patches. Result is the same.

  • Sun ONE Studio 4 aka Forte: How to set the output path for classes ?

    Help !
    Beginner's question:
    Sun ONE Studio 4 aka Forte:
    How to set the output path for classes ?
    As default, the class files are created in the same directory as the
    sources.
    In opposite, both JBuilder and Together support that there is a tree
    with the sources and another tree with the classes.
    The first answer I got was "not possible with Forte, but just if you write your own "ANT Build script" !
    a) Please point me to a ready-to-use ANT script for this purpose, if such is available
    b) Is using ANT instead of the MAKE as comfortable ? Besides the separation of sourcecode and classes, I would like to keep everything else to be the same, i.e. I dont want to edit the ANT file if I enlarge the project by directories or files.
    Tia

    You can set S1S's options to place newly created .class files in a specific location.
    Identify the compiler that is being used - Open the S1S's Tools/Options window, expand Editing and select Java Sources. Note the Default Compiler value. (If it's one if the Ant options, you use Ant to specify this option, not S1S.)
    Open the S1S's Tools/Options window, expand Building/Compiler Types and select the appropriate compiler.
    The Properties tab of the compiler has the property Target, which sets the filesystem where the compiler output is directed. If you choose <not set>, the .class files are written to their source directory.
    When you set the Target, your change affects all classes that use this compiler.
    Very few options can't be set in S1S; the challenge is finding out where they're set!

  • How do you set headers in httpresponse using forte tool code in UDS

    I am attempting to download a file that is generated in forte (its a CSV). When the response gets back to the browser the save box has a cgi.exe type filename. Instead I would like to supply my own, to do this I think you need to set content-disposition header in the response.

    First of all, if you are using Forte Web Enterprise and the standard HTTP library you won't be able to set any header information apart of the content-type. If you are using HTTPSupport library then you can do things like add a header, set the value of a header and so on.
    I guess you are just using Forte Web Enterprise for sending a file back to the user. For doing so, you have to write the content of the file into the request by using something like:
    Response.AssignResponse(TextDataObject);
    Response.ContentType='text/csv';
    Where TextDataObject is an object that holds the content of the CSV file you want to send back to the user.Then you have to set the contenttype for the specific kind of data you are sending: 'application/pdf','text/html','text/xml','image/svg' ... whatever.
    Once the response from the server hits your browser, it has to kick-off an application that has been previously assigned to this specific kind of data, like for instance 'application/pdf' is allways used for kicking-off the adobe acrobat reader. So, if that is not happening, check that at your operating system level.
    Now, if the browser has some problems while deciding which application to use for reading the data that comes in the response then it will display the save box you are talking about. There is no way Forte can help since this is a client machine related issue.
    Hope this helps....
