Setting up J2ME Platform on NetBeans

Hi Friends,
I have recently downloaded the Sony Ericsson J2ME SDK as I want to start on mobile appliiications.
I have a slight hitch, however.
Using NetBeans 5.5, I intend to add the emulator to the IDE as Ihave connected the phone directly to the computer. I followed the iinstructions specified at http://www.netbeans.org/kb/41/mobility-se.html and all went well until step 3.
I have installed the OnDeviceDebug at C:\SonyEricsson\JavaME_SDK_CLDC\OnDeviceDebug but on browsing to that folder in NetBeans, the "Next" Button never gets active. I guess this may be because something is not right.
What could be the issue(s) here?
Thanks and regards.

  • Integrate J2ME Polish in NetBeans environment

    Hi all,
    I've trouble with having a full functionnal Netbeans environment with J2ME Polish.
    Here are the two ways I've tried without full success :
    *1- Start from a J2ME Polish project sample :*
    The sample is working well and when I add my code, most of it is working but :
    -> I can't add my own ressources (icons, sounds, etc...) even by adding the ressource directory in project properties. The code doesn't find them at execution.
    -> It doesn't find some specific APIs like MMAPI javax.microedition.media.control.VideoControl even if MMAPI ability is present and even if I manually add the mmapi.jar file in the library&ressources.
    *2- Add Polish library to an existing and working project :*
    I've added Polish abilities and enough-j2mepolish-client.jar library
    The code is compiling and I have access to both Polish and MMAPI interfaces.
    -> The big problem is that polish screens are empty. For example a simple polish alert screen is empty, the title bar is displayed, the softkeys are displayed but the content is not. Whereas, the string to be displayed is correctly built and no exception is raised during screen building and display.
    So my question is : Is there anybody who has a correct Netbeans 6.0.1 environment including J2ME Polish and what are the steps to follow to build such an environment ?
    Thanks a lot

    First of all , install netbeans and mobility package.
    Then do the follows:
    http://www.j2mepolish.org/docs/install.html#netbeans5
    J2ME Polish provides NetBeans specific build scripts from J2ME Polish 1.3 Beta 3 onwards. You can now just open any of the provided sample applications, delete the default build.xml script and rename the build-netbeans.xml script to build.xml. You can from then on use the normal debugging, build and compile facilities of NetBeans.
    Integrating a sample application in NetBeans:
    Select File > Open Project... and select any sample application in ${polish.home}/samples. Just select a folder like the menu folder and select Open.
    Now switch to the Files window by selecting Window > Files.
    In this window delete or rename the build.xml script which is in the base folder of the project.
    Now right-click the build-netbeans.xml script and rename it to build.xml. When the renaming does not work, do it directly from the file system (e.g. Windows Explorer).
    From now on you can build, run, debug and compile with the normal NetBeans commands (e.g. F5 for debugging). J2ME Polish is then used for building etc.
    When you start a new project in NetBeans, just copy one of the sample build.xml scripts to your project's folder. Then adjust the settings according to your needs.
    So , just adjust the ant script 'build.xml'

  • Is there ANY way i can develop j2me applications in NetBeans for Solaris?

    Ok, i don't like to complain, but this is really starting to tick me off.
    Here I am on this AMAZINGLY stable beautiful feature rich operating system that is Solaris SXDE.
    I am a Student and I LOVE java, I decided to try my hand at j2me programming, I got to get the j2me tools and runtime....
    and guess what I found?
    J2ME 3.0! Awesome Blu-Ray, MIPD, ETC, AWESOME.... one problem... only runs in windows!
    thanks.... but no thanks...
    NOW! before I freak out and complain that Sun is not supporting it's own platform please tell me that there is a way to do development on Solaris.

    No, teathering is not supported.

  • Set name of JFrame in Netbeans

    Hi,
    I am using the GUI builder in netbeans to create my application.
    This means that all the components are created in InitComponents() and I cannot access these components to change them.
    What I need to be able to do is to give my JFrame a name so that I can set properties on the Frame.
    Ultimately what I want to be able to do is to change the IconImage on top left.( I do not want to use the properties window to do this)
    I want to be able to say something like frame.iconImage("icon.gif");
    So how do I set the name of the JFrame in Netbeans?
    Thanks in Advance.

    I'm assuming that your class extends JFrame, so you can just call this.<whichever method you want> from any method or constructor of your class.

  • How to set up J2ME CLDC?

    Hi everyone,
    I downloaded the J2ME CLDC 1.0.2 and have unzipped the file, however, insides the docs folder, i could not find any information on how to set up the environment for windows to developed Palm OS applications.
    If there's anyone who knows how to do it, or where i can find such information on how to setup the cldc, pls help me. thank you =)
    Yours sincerely,
    Javier

    [JavierHo],
    If you intend to deploy J2ME based applications on a PalmOS based device, you will need to have the kVM for PalmOS, i.e. Java Application Manager, installed onto the Palmtop in order to run the MIDlet application that you develop.
    You can start your development process by downloading:
    (1) MIDP 1.0 packages at:
    http://java.sun.com/products/midp/
    At the moment, there is a beta version of the MIDP for PalmOS available for download as well.
    You use the MIDP packages to develop the MIDlet J2ME based applications for J2ME devices.
    (2) J2ME Wireless Toolkit at:
    http://java.sun.com/products/j2mewtoolkit/index.html
    This package gives you an emulator environment within an IDE tool to compile, preverify and run/test your MIDlet before you deploy your MIDlet onto a real devices. The latest version is Wireless Toolkit 1.0.3 Beta which supports the PalmOS emulator.
    (3) PalmOS emulator at : http://www.palmos.com/dev/tech/tools/emulator/
    The PalmOS emulator works in conjunction with the J2ME Wireless Toolkit i.e. when you use the Toolkit and specify the emulator env. as the PalmOS emulator to test the MIDlets that you develop.

  • J2ME/CDC and Netbeans

    Hi all,
    I am compiling some code in Netbeans using the CDC libraries and I am getting
    this:
    Compiling 20 source files to C:\build\compiled
    C:\CP\ControlPanel.java:56: generics are not supported in -source 1.4
    (try -source 1.5 to enable generics)
    The only Java platforms I have in there are CDC and J2SE 1.5 - why does the compilation keep
    referring to 1.4 as source? Furthermore, let's say for some reason it does, how does one
    change this?
    Thanks much

  • Installing JavaFX 2.0 Java platform in NetBeans on OS X

    I am not able to make this work. The SDK is not recognized. I am guessing it's something simple. Any current step-by-step instructions?
    TIA,
    Carl

    I am not sure this is correct but it did seem to get me going (I can create a JavaFX project and run it)
    create another "Java Platform" (sort of)
    I created a symbolic link to the current platform and appended _javafx to the name
    Specifically from the directory /System/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines
    I did "sudo ln -s 1.6.0.jdk 1.6.0.jdk_javafx"
    Then from within NetBeans
    Tools->Java Platforms
    Add Platform
    choose directory pointed to by newly created symbolic link (in my case /System/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/1.6.0.jdk_javafx/Contents/Home)
    Now that we have a newly created Java Platform (albeit a copy of the other one) we get the JavaFX option tab
    Because I unzipped my javafx to /opt I used these values:
    JavaFX SDK: /opt/javafx-sdk2.0.2-beta
    JavaFX Runtime: /opt/javafx-sdk2.0.2-beta/rt
    HTH,

  • Help needed to set up Bluetooth support in Netbeans

    Hi all,
    I have to develop an application for GSM/PDA, that uses Bluetooth. So I installed NetBeans 5.0, and the wireless toolkit. But when I try to launch the bluetooth example MIDlet, I get this error:
    Can't initialize bluetooth: javax.bluetooth.BluetoothStateException: JSR082 support is not available.That's really strange, because it's written in the kit's description that JSR 82 support is available, as you can see on this image: http://img99.imageshack.us/img99/5771/captureupdatecenterwizardgb1.png
    What can I do to make it work? I tried everything the last 3 days, I searched Google thousands times but it doesn't work...
    Help would be very appreciated!
    Many thanks!
    PS: I run Ubuntu Linux Edgy Eft.

    Well, I solved my problem :-)
    I added this line:
    127.0.0.1 xxxxin the file /etc/hosts, where xxxx is the name of my computer.

  • Setting Look and Feel in Netbeans 4.1

    I'm trying to change my program's Look&Feel to the XP Look&Feel, but I can't find any way to change the post-init code for a JFrame. Surely this is possible, but the Code tab for JFrames is very limited and for the life of me I can't find any other way to customize the initialization of one.
    How would one go about doing this?
    Thanks,
    Jick

    Well, I managed to solve my own problem. For reference, I'll explain the process.
    My searches involved looking through the NetBeans interface to change the proper implementation code, but this was actually not necessary. NetBeans' code is very strictly protected by its code-locking mechanism, but the right place to insert the code to change the UI is immediately before the initComponents() method call in your JFrame's constructor.
    Example:
    public class SmartMoverGUI extends javax.swing.JFrame {
    public SmartMoverGUI() {
    try {
    UIManager.setLookAndFeel(UIManager.getSystemLookAndFeelClassName());
    } catch(Exception e) {}
    initComponents();
    /* Rest of code below */
    Hope this helps someone. :)

    I downloaded and installed J2ME and it comes always in Japanese.

  • J2me cldc midlet for windows mobile(cdc) in netbeans

    Hi,
    I have a midlet developed in Mobility Pack 5.0, and I have to change it so, that it works, and looks ok on Windows Mobile. That means that I have to port a cldc midlet to a cdc device. I've found two vm-s for windows mobile, for running midlets. J9, and CrEme. I also saw that the mobility pack for cdc together with CrEme make it possible to build CDC apps for windows mobile. The question is, how can I integrate the cdc windows mobile emulator with the mobility pack (for CLDC?), to be able to develop midlets for Pocket PC?
    Thanks!

    I think you go to Tools Menu -> Java Platform
    and add a new platform by chose j2me platform.
    Then the netbeans search for the emulator and add it in the IDE support.

  • NetBeans java card platform

    Dear All,
    I need a java card simulator to debug my java card applet code.
    I try to use Java Card Platform on NetBeans IDE 7.1 for debugging purpose. After successfully building the applet and loading it onto the simulated card environment I try to select the applet instance using the following command through the Console.
    select //aid/3F564379F5/00279CD982
    in response I receive the following error.
    "Connection reset by peer: socket write error"
    Is anyone using Java Card Platform for debugging? I would be very happy to hear how to resolve this problem.
    Thanks in advance!
    Cheers!

    Hello Rohit,

    you will have a set of sample java card applets to use.
    You can use JPShell to download the cap files(compiled applet) onto the card and send ADPU to the card to see if you get correct response.
    Following link provides all the information to set up the environment and start developing java card applets using NetBeans IDE and GPShell.

    I hope this can help.
    MehmetI already have , Netbeans 7.1 and now i have gpshell 1.4.4 ,i think netbeans is capable to making .cap file, did you mean that with use of gpshell i can connect with java card through reader? gp shell would work stand alone or we need to set this to netbeans? i read the link which u passed to me, it seems very good but "it seems very tough to implement" . HELL IS WAITING FOR ME... KIDDING DEAR,
    one last thing, anything other than net beans { here we create applet and it automatically create cap file} and gp shell are require to load applet onto the card? OR these is enough to implement wholo java card application- I asked this because i get the term JCOP and etc when i read uploading applet to card.
    anyways thanks for your help.

  • Sharing J2ME & J2SE source with NetBeans

    I will appologize in advance if I am in the wrong forum. However I could not find a forum for NetBeans so here is my problem:
    This problem relates to NetBeans and the J2SE and J2ME Class Libraries. Maybe there is a simple answer to this, but I am unable to figure it out. The JARs are unique enough to where J2ME can not share a J2SE Class Library. I have a few classes that are identical in source between J2SE and J2ME. In NetBeans how can I organize my projects so I do not have to duplicate the source once each for J2SE and J2ME?
    Thank you

    us too. except we're working on a project that requires interfacing a mobile device with a pc. how exactly do we bridge the gap between the two if the device is running j2me and the pc is running j2se?if you have an answer please e-mail us at [email protected]
    thanx
