Well, you've been given proper guidance - the Fusion Developer's Guide explains it all in great detail (it's the document from which I gave you the link). The technique works fine.
If you don't believe the guidance is proper, then explain to us what doesn't work properly or why it won't work for your business case and then we can help.

  • How do I set the number of columns for JTextPane

I only found a method setSize() of JTextPane class. How can I set the number of columns in a JTextPane? Each column can be written one letter.
    Thanks.

You're not going to use FontMetrics to change the width of the characters; you're going to use it figure out how wide a single character is. Then multiply by the number of characters you want to have in a line, and presto! You know how wide to make your JTextPane.
Unless I've misunderstood your problem, of course.

  • Manually change version number in doc library

    Hi,
We are uploading some documents to a MOSS Doc Library and need to force the version of some documents to start at a specific version number - is this possible?
    All the best

    Hello,
Moss 2007 transact the version internally, that seems no direct way to set version number manually. Here I have some methods you can take reference:
    1.       If you want to directly set a low version document to a higher one, e.g. 1.0 à 5.0. You can achieve it through repeating checkout/checkin operation.
    2.       To the contrary, if you want to directly set a higher version document to a lower one, e.g. 5.0 à 1.0. Then you can try follow process:
    1)     Find the document you need to change the version number in the document library.
    2)     Hover on the document. Click on Version History of the dropdown menu.
    3)     Right click on the Version of the document and click Save and choose a location for the document (i.e. your desktop) and Close. And OK.
    4)      Return to the Document Library.
    5)     Click on Upload Document.
    6)     Find the location of the Document you saved .
    7)      Enter your Version Comments and click Save.
    Hope it can help you.

  • Dynamically setting the number of collumns...

    Hi,
I have a report that I need to build. In the requirements I need to dynamically set the number of columns based on the parameters given. I have some ideas on how to do this by building the layout to include all the columns. Then show or hide them based on the parameters passed. I was just wondering if anyone has tried to do something like this? If so, were you successful, and what were some of the major stumbling blocks you ran into. Or if you know of any links to documentation that would help would be great.
On a side note, would doing something like this be handled better if done in Discoverer? I have not used Discoverer before, so I'm not sure myself.
    Thanks,

  • Patch Set Updates and the version number

Oracle document 854428.1, Patch Set Updates (PSUs) for Oracle Products, has this to say about the version number:
2.3 Baseline Version for Easier Tracking
Oracle associates a version number to the patch. The fifth number of the database version is incremented for each PSU. For example, the initial PSU is version 11.1.0.7.1, the second PSU for Release 11.1.0.7 is 11.1.0.7.2, and so on.
My DBAs just told me that they applied PSU3 to our database, which had version number 11.2.0.2.0. I checked the version number after the PSU was applied, but it is still the same:
    SQL> select version from v$instance;
    VERSION
    11.2.0.2.0
Do the PSUs change the fifth number in the version or not?

    SQL> select comments from sys.registry$history where action_time > sysdate - 1
    COMMENTS
    PSU 11.2.0.2.3
Thankyou, that answers my question. The fifth number in the version column of the v$instance view does not seem to change when a PSU is applied. However, the sys.registry$history view has a record of the PSU with the correct fifth number in the version.

  • How can I set a version number for an AppleScript application?

Subject kind of says it all... I've written a small application in AppleScript, which is used on several computers. I'd like the application to have a version number, just like normal applications have. How do I give it one?
To be clear, what I mean is: in column view, if you click once on an application, it shows the icon, name, size, version, etc. of the application. I want a version number to show up there (and in the Get Info window, etc.)

Posting to this old post, but I am trying above method on my 10.8.2 machine and it doesn't seem to work.
I added the bundle version string as in the attached image.
Recompile my app, saved it but still version info doesn't show up in finder.
Also, tried to change "Bundle version" to "CFBundle version". But still didn't work.
    Any suggestions?

  • How to get the number of columns in a result set???

    hi everyone..
i am trying to establish a servlet applet communication....
my applet send the sql query to the servlet as serialised string and then the servlet executes the query...
Since i need to pass the result back to the applet, i thaught of passing the whole reult set to the applet..but that seems to be not possible..
so i thaught of storing my result set data in a vector and then pass the vector, but the first problem that i came across is that how to get the number of colums in a result set....
so is there a way to get the number of columns in a result set...???
and also i would like to know if it possible to send my whole result set to the applet bye serialization or by any method...???
    thanx in advance

You shouldn't do. It expenses resources (you should always close the ResultSet and the Statement as fast as possible). Simply gently process it into a Collection or Map of DTO's. Those are serializable.

I had this problem - it appeared to be due to having Firefox 4 with the Firefox Sync installed as an add-on. Firefox 4 has sync included so there is no need to have it as an add-on. I went to the add-on manager and removed Firefox Sync and now appears to be working correctly.

  • Object Version Number  column

    Hi all,
In the OAF dev guide, they have given some information on object version number column which can be used to store the version of the row data entered.
This can be achieved by mapping a attribute to ObjectVersionNumber attribute.
I tried mapping it i didn't see any attribute with the name ObjectVersionNumber in the BC4j EO wizard.
Can somebody please give more information on this
And do correct me if i gone wrong somewhere
    Thanks in advance
    Ashwini

Another use of this column is to maintain the history record. So each time you update the record, another record with same primary key, but with an increased OVN.

    Hello,
I have an update for an app that has been published with the single license. I now need to upload a DPS app with a higher version number than 1.1 for the Apple app store accept the upload.
Problem: I can't find anywhere to set the app version number.
(I am not talking about the adobe version number 27/26 but the one that is set in iTunes Connect)
When I click "create app" and updates it in the manager it generates a new app with a higher number in this sequence: 1.0.0, 1.0.1, 1.0.2, 1.0.3
But I need to set it manually. Where can I do this?
    Thanks,

I googled some more, it seems that it is the Short String Version number and only Adobe can change it...

  • How to set naming standard that sets max number of words in column name?

    Hi all,
Is it possible to set naming standard that sets max number of words in colum (or table) name?
    I was looking video (1:08min)
    http://download.oracle.com/otn_hosted_doc/sqldev/UserDefinedDesignRules/UserDefinedDesignRules.html
And here you can see how rule is triggered.
"...Name has 2 words; Max permitted - 1".
    Thanks a lot

    Hi,
you need to create glossary and set it in naming standards for your design.
This document is still valid - http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/datamodeler/datamodelernamingstandards-167685.pdf
Naming standard settings are located :
    - DM 3.x - "Preferences>Data Modeler>Naming Standard"
    - DM 4.0 - Design dialog>Settings>Naming Standard
If you want only check on number of words then glossary can be empty and you can set "Incomplete modifiers" option in that glossary.

  • Number of columns and effect on performance

We are trying to improve the performance of our system and have noticed that the number of columns in our select statements has a dramatic, non-linear effect on the performance we see. For a particular query (with a single record returned) retrieving 10 columns from the table takes about 120 milliseconds, but if we reduce the request to 6 columns the time shrinks to about 18 milliseconds. It doesn't seem to matter which columns we pick, just how many of them are chosen.
We have even been able to retrieve a large number of columns from a table using multiple requests of 5 columns each and see a 2X performance improvement over a single request for all of the columns. Use of prepared statements and setting column types seems to have negligible effect.
Any ideas what we are seeing here and how we might improve the performance without cluttering our code up with these wierd multiple requests? This is happening in the middle of a large system, with a number of other database requests happening other than the ones we have currently instrumented for performance measurements. Don't know if this is some kind of interaction with a cache or what. We are using Oracle 8i Enterprise Edition version 8.1.6.3.0.

I hope this answers your question.
If not, post a little sample data (CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements, relevant columns only), and the results you want from that data. If your question is based on commonly available tables, like those in the scott schema, then you don't have to post any sample data: just post the output.
Explain how you get those results from that data.
Always say what version of Oracle (and other relevant softward, SQL*Plus in this case) you're using.

  • SharePoint Document Set Version Extension

Before reading further, please note this is not a simple 'how do I enable versioning' and, as far as I can tell, nothing similar has been asked before...
Instead I am looking for any solutions (3rd party or OOTB) or novel suggestions for an extension to document set versions so that users are presented with a friendlier user interface than the default version history dialogue that we all know and love.
This is a very specific request from a senior stakeholder at my company who requires the highlighting/comparison of document set versions in which we are already displaying a custom ASPX page of properties and lookups against other data in the site. The
user has previously used (and most likely prefers) the Atlassian Confluence offering (https://www.atlassian.com/software/confluence) which provides such functionality.
So far I have explored the following no code solutions:
Allowing users to track their own changes through Word and then uploading the document to the correct document set. This is not an option due to the number of clicks users have to navigate through and the loss of centralised tracking etc. through the doc
    set properties
Providing users with the ability to mark their changes in the document set with rich text highlighting (has to be enabled through SPD for document sets) which was initially promising but places the reliance on users to remember to highlight changes correctly.
I have also noticed a frustrating feature with version control which, in the history dialogue box, properties with a large number of characters (we have extended most fields to be greater than 250 - I know this is probably not recommended but needed to be
done) are clipped so that the entire field is not visible. Through PowerShell I can see that the values are fully stored in the Snapshot Collection for each document set.
Currently, I am working on the assumption that this is the only way to access version history and a custom server side solution (CSOM doesn't seem to expose these properties) will be the only option going forward. Ideally a no-code option (especially not
server side) would be preferable so reaching out to you wonderful experts for some insights.
    Really appreciate any responses...

    Hi,
Based on your description, my understanding is that you want to make the Document Set Version history with a friendlier user interface than the default version history dialogue.
SharePoint seems to only expose the Document Set's metadata version in the "Version" column. I call this the metadata version because this will only increase if you make changes to the document set's properties, and not if you update the documents
inside. This is what I mean by metadata version.
In the Document Set Version history,  the first column displayed is No. This is not the regular version column of the library, but a totally different one. When creating a document set version the version column of the library doesn’t change,
    only the No value.
The version(s) of a document set are stored in the propertybag of the item itself.
Take a look at this article about how to retrieve document set version history:
    http://www.itidea.nl/index.php/how-to-retrieve-document-set-version-history/

  • Get Last Number in Column

I have a column of numbers (ColA), into which I enter a new number at the bottom of the list for each day.
I have another table where I want to show only the latest number entered in ColA. I don't want an average or max or min... I want the last number in the column. And since the column grows every day, I don't know what that cell number will be.
Is there a way to do this?
    Thanks
    D

    Hi Dana,
Here's a two part formula set that should do it.
The numbers are entered in column G.
    1. Two versions of a step one formula. Each checks for three consecutive empty cells in column G. If three are found, then the contents of the last cell before them is returned. Otherwise the return is a blank (or zero). For each, the formula is as it appears in cell H2.
    =IF(AND(G2>0,ISBLANK(G3),ISBLANK(G4),ISBLANK(G5)),G2,"")
    OR
    =IF(SUM(G3,G4,G5)=0,G2,"")
Whichever you use, drag the handle at the bottom right of H2 to fill the formula down column H.
The first formula returns blanks for all cells except the target one, for which it returns the number in G2. The second returns the same results up to the target one, but returns zeros for all cells after that.
    2. The second formula collects the number from column H, and places it in a fixed location (ie. the cell containing this formula. I put it in cell J2.
    =MAX(H)
Column H is used only for calculation, and may be hidden.
NOTE: These formulas reflect the way I would accomplish this in an AppleWorks spreadsheet. It works in Numbers as well, but does not take advantage of any Numbers specific features.

    Barry
