Shall I use varchar2 or nvarchar2?

My character set is AL32UTF8. Now I want to limit the length of a column to 5 chars for both English letters and Chinese characters, but seems I can't make it work for both language. (In SQL Server, nvarchar can be used for this purpose):
create table test(a varchar2(5 char));
insert into test values('abcdef') --Will prompt value is too large for the column
insert into test values('å¤§å¤§å¤§') --Will prompt value is too large for the column
looks like a chinese character always occupies two chars, I tried nvarchar2 too, but the result was the same. I can't simply increase the length of the column, because I also need to limit the number of English letters in that column.
Any ideas about this?

No. If its transactions across multiple databases you should use different datasources.

According to your description, you want to get the max date for the employees, right?

We need to use SAP ALE functionality to transfer the date instantaneously.
The interface is designed to transfer ABC employee's attendance & absence data to XYZ SAP instance for time evaluation and payroll transferring.
Can anybody let me know the general scenario v follow for this interface to happen.
for e.g. :
Start--> Remote system call > IDOC_INBOUND_ASYNCHRONOUS>Pass communication to the system > User ID validations-> Data in Control Records ---> ALE Services filtering --> Application IDOC saved in the Database ---> Process IDOC immediately ---> Run tht Report prgm RPTEXTPT --> Read Process Code from Partner Profile -> Posting Module-->END.
I'm using the Business Object - BUS7011,
Tables Ptex2000,PTEX2010.
Do v follow the same scenario for the CATSDB to happen in both SAP instances.

What timeline format shall i use for footage in AVCHD format?

I am shooting with the Sony HXR NX5, and i would like to ask what timeline format shall i use for footage in AVCHD format? I do not see any format in the Final Cut Pro and in Motion that matches my camera format.

IF you are working with FCP 7.0.3 (the last version) then you use Log and Transfer to ingest your footage from that camera, and Log and Transfer will convert the AVCHD camera files to ProRes.
Once the camera files are ingested, make a new (empty) timeline, and either drag a source clip or edit it to that timeline and you will be prompted to match the sequence settings to the source clip. Say yes and you should be good to go.
AVCHD, H.264,etc. files are not directly usable in FCP without conversion.

I have recieved my macbook pro today, firt i've pluged it to the home electricity, and the i've started it. Then, when the battery charge was full, i've unplugged it. And now, my main question is : Shall i used the computer on the battery until it shut down automaticaly, or shuld i plug back the computer to electricity before it shut down?

We are using Active Directory on Windows 2003 as domain controller. First question is, can I use SSO between cross domain Unix and Windows SAP servers. And the second question is what SSO shall I use?

For this you need to take advantage of the SNC interface provided in SAP GUI and on most versions of SAP app server (later than 3.1I). The SNC interface requires a compatable GSS-API library, which you can obtain from a third part vendor. There is a library available from SAP for this, but it only works if you are using SAP on Windows. Since you have SAP on both Windows and UNIX you will need a product which supports this range of operating systems. It depends of how many records you expect to read. If you have a reduced amount of records I would expect for the join statement to underperform, even if the access to the data bank is faster.
But at a considerable amount of data the join might be a lot faster. Use the tc SM30 to test your code.

What's the difference between DTO and VO? Both are
little more than C structs for ferrying data between
layers. No functionality whatsoever.Value Object was the name used in the first editions of the Applied Java Patterns & Core J2ee Pattern books from Sun. These are called Data Transfer Objects in the later issues of these books.
The Value Object name also caused some confusion because the term has previously been used to refer to language specific ideoms of wrapping primative types in Object.
