Shared Components Report Layouts

Is there a way to modify the Column Template to produce alternating colors.
I've already created 2 attribute-sets in the Page Template
I can use either set and it works fine, however when ever I add anything else to the Column Template like <xsl: variable name "xxxx"> the pdf will not be generated and I get an error message.
Thanks
Wayne

Hello Wayne,
Are you using the Generic Columns or the Named ones?
Before I've been trying with something like:
    <xsl:if test="(position() mod 2 = 1)">
      <xsl:attribute name="background-color">#BODY_BG_COLOR#</xsl:attribute>
    </xsl:if>Regards,

  • Issue with Shared Components - Report Layouts Download

After my isp provider upgraded from APEX 3.2.1 to 4.0, I am now unable to go into the Shared Components -> Report Layouts section and access an existing report to download my rtf template. Is there another way to go and get this out of the database. I need to update a report layout that is old and I do not have a backup of the original report and do not want to spend the time to recreate.
    Thanks,
    Mark

If you have TOAD, or if you can install it, by connecting to your database you will be able to access your report layout via the Schema Browser. The whole path should be "All Schemas -> APEX_040000 -> Tables -> WWV_FLOW_REPORT_LAYOUTS". In that table you will find you report layout. Double click on it and copy/paste it into a text editor.
Note: You might need to be granted some rights to access the 400+ tables of the APEX_040000 schema. Or if you have a DBA, ask him to do this for you.
Of course, if you don't want to install TOAD, I bet you could query that table from the SQL Commands of the SQL Workshop, but you would again need the rights to access said table.
    Best regards,
    Mathieu

  • Multiple Queries  in Shared Components Report Queries

    Hey all,
I am creating a report query which has multiple queries and I am running into to some issues with the builder.
1.Whenever I try to edit a query it always sends me to the same query. (I can see that it is passing a different ID in the url, but the query never changes)
    - Ex: I create a report query and add two queries, SELECT 1 FROM DUAL and SELECT 2 FROM DUAL. no matter which querry i try to edit it always shows SELECT 1 FROM DUAL.
    2. There is no way to delete individual queries.
    - does anyone know a workaround to delete a query? (rather than just deleeting the entire report query)
    Cheers,
    Tyson Jouglet

This was a bug that has been fixed in APEX version 3.2.1
(its always helpful to list the version you are using along with your question)
If you are using this with a BI publisher report layout, you will also get problems with earlier versions as the rowsets don't always get returned in the correct order.
See this thread for more details....
    Bi Publisher result set question
I ended up deleting my whole query and spending a long, careful afternoon adding the 33 queries I had in order one by one having made SURE they were all EXACTLY what I wanted using SQL Developer.

  • Shared components - Report Queries - Too many rows?

I have a query that returns 70,000 rows that the business owner wants to be printed as a reference manual. I built the reprot template (*.rtf) and saved the query. If I run the query with a limiting where clause for only 1000 records everything is fine. However, as I continue to increase the number to 10,000 records I no longer get a report. I get an blank IE page with no content.
Is this a timing issue where it jus takes too long to generate the report? Or, is there a limit to the number of rows that can be returned in a report Query/template?
I am not running a report to export as CSV - I am aware of the small int limitation of Excel that prevents greater than ~65,000 rows.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
    (APEX 3.1)
I was getting the same error. It was because I was trying to insert into a view on a synonym pointing to a table across a database link. This would also fire a trigger.
A simpler test case of the same architecture produced the same error. As there was no attempt to bind longs I believe the error is misleading.
I removed some of the layers by creating a table which accepted the insert from the form, with an insert trigger that relayed the insert to the table in the second database, firing the trigger that did the work that was the real point of the exercise.
hope that may be of some use

  • Oracle bi publisher report for apex - Report Layout

    Hi There,
    Navigation: Home>Application Builder>Application 20>Shared Components>Report Layouts
I created rtf template for a Report Query. It worked fine upto certain point.
However at some point, if I make a minor modification to the layout it is not displaying all the data that it is supposed to.
I have 3 tables in my RTF template 1) Header 2) Details 3) Summary. Details section has a group. This runs fine.
Now if I just combine all the above 3 tables into one by adding row above and row below to the "2) details" table and moving the table 1 and table 3 into those rows, makes the data in the group in table 2 disappear when run on the apex application.
However it works fine when data is loaded on the RTF template and Preview --> PDF is seen.
Is it a known bug? Because some of my coleagues has same issues.
    Thanks

  • PDF Printing Issue - Customised Report Layout Error

    Hi,
I am trying to get a PDF file output based on the customised RTF file created. I follow the following steps but I am facing an issue with that.
    (i) Go to Shared Components > Report Queries.
(ii) Create a new Report query with more than one query.
(iii) Using the XML Data in the Report queries, create a Report Layout (RTF) file.
(iv) Navigate to shared components Report Layout and upload the RTF file.
    (v) Once this is done, use the Report Layout created in the Report Queries. Select the Layout name from the Drop Down.
(vi) Click on TEST REPORT, this produces an error: Adobe Reader could not open the <file name> because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded )
    Additional Info
The apex instance configured with Embbedded plsql, rdbms version is 11.1.0.7.0 and the BI publisher version 10.1.3.3.
    ISSUE DESC
When I use mulitple Queries even after using Generic Report Layout I get the output for the first query alone in the PDF and the remaining Queries are ignored.
And when i use a user defined template, then even If i have a single report query I get the error.
To summarise, I am not able to use the customised Layouts.
I have reproduced the issue in apex.oracle.com
    Please log in using,
    WORKSPACE: demo_test
    USER NAME: [email protected]
    pwd: vidhya
After logging in please select the Application Builder.
In that select the Application named PDF.
Select the Shared components > Report Queries
Select the Report Query named test.
Click on the TEST REPORT button in the Source Queries Section.
    You will get the error.
Now in the same page in the Report Query Attributes Section change the Report Layout to Use Generic Report Layout and then click on 'TEST REPORT', this will give the PDF file without errors.
The same report has been called from the PRINT REPORT button provided in the page 1 of the application.
This issue is really urgent and critical. Require your inputs/help.
    Thanks,
    Ramya

I' an APEX newbie and believe I am having the same or a similar problem. I am (for now) developing a system using the hosted Apex development system online. I have created a Report Query which works fine with the default layout. I downloaded the XML (tried both sample data and schema) into Word 2007 with the BI Publisher Template Builder. I used the table wizard to create a simple layout containing all columns with no customization at all. Saved as an RTF, uploaded to Apex as a Report Layout, associated it with the Report Query, clicked Test Report -- and I got nothing.
When the is a PDF, I get the same error you mention ( Adobe Reader could not open the <file name> because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded ). If I switch to an HTML file the out is just a blank screen.
If I switch back to generic report layout, it works fine. This suggests there is something wrong with the template, though it looks fine in Word with the sample data.
I've searched the forums and Google for the better part of a day. What am I missing?

  • Translate report layouts (Shared Components)

    Hi,
I create in my application PDF using shared components (Report Queries and Report Layouts) and the BI Publisher. The queries I have deposited in Report Qieries and templates in report layouts. The call is done via the URL (which appears in the report query). Now I have translated my application and see that the titles of my templates are not visible with the xlife file. How can I translate the report layout from the Shared Components.
Thank you in advance for your support.

  • Report print attributes - custom report layout

    Hi there,
I've looked for this information in the web and in this forum without luck so far...
We have here BI Publisher and I use the "Enable Report Printing" option in a traditional report in Apex 4.0.2. That works great.
But instead of using the "Default Report Layout", I want to use a custom one based on a RTF file. However I have no idea what the data XML looks like in order to build a custom layout.
To be clear: if you go to Shared Components > Report Queries, you have a Download XML Data option so you can build your report layout based on the XML structure. For instance, you can use <?for-each:ROWSET1_ROW?>, <?COLUMN_NAME?> etc
Any ideas about what that XML structure is for a traditional report?
    Thanks
    Luis

Found it: change temporarily the output format to XML and download the report. The XML structure is all there. Very helpful to know that all page items are included in the XML as well. It would be good to have this functionality detailed somewhere in the Apex documentation.
What I still need to know is how to access the substitution strings below in my RTF (NOT XSL-FO) template:
Select Default Report Layout to use the built-in generic report layout.
To use a custom generic report layout, select it from the list.
You can use the following substitution strings when building custom XSL-FO report layouts:
    #PAGE_HEADER#
    #PAGE_HEADERFONT_COLOR#
    #PAGE_HEADER_FONT_FAMILY#
    ...Any ideas?

Named column report layouts are file based. To change, download the current file using the download button on this page, then modify the file as needed. Afterwards, upload the modified file as a new report layout.
How can I modify an XML extension file with other tool than BI publisher? (generated by BI Publisher )

  • Shared Components APEX Report Query and Layout

Does anyone know how to call the report query and layout from the Shared components section from a page within the application?

    mtbdude40 wrote:
What I need is this:  The ability to create a PDF report with a custom header defining the data (example - select * from emp where deptno = :deptno and the header includes the department name).
I use this white paper as my source:  http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/apex/learnmore/custom-pdf-reports-1953918.pdf
You need to build and use a Shared Resource -> Report Queries.
The Report Query will have two queries associated with it (see below).
one query will be for the header information, the other will be for the data.
use the "download" of the "xml data" as your source for Altova/other tools.
If you add/remove/change queries, You'll have to redo your report (from scratch) as that changes the XML Schema required. (at least, with my experience)
Once you get the hang of it, 2x queries is easy (Header, data)
I've experimented with 3x queries (header, master, details) but have been unsuccessful.  I have some ideas though ("link" master->detail info via XPath stuff within Altova) but haven't gotten around to testing it.
If you want to run the report for multiple departments....That might require some finesse.
Unfortunately, the Source of the Queries can't be a scalar SQL that returns 1 row of 1 column of data type XMLType....

  • SAP reporting layout sharing

Looking for a way to share reporting layouts between users without giving all the users access to modify the layout.  I thought this was standard SAP however my IT department is indicating it can't be done.

No I don't think there is a way you can do this, there is no "protect layout" function like their is for a variant. The only way to get around this is to take away the ability to create a global layout from the end uers by security changes and then only have IT set up your global layouts. This way no one end user will be able to change the commonly used ones.

  • APEX 5: report layouts broken after download

Hi, after switching from 4.02 to 5.0, I´m testing the new environment. Today I run into a problem I cannot solve. I have a lot of report layots stored in the section in Shared components, alle Named Columns RTF format. All these layouts are working fine in the application. But if I download one, the result is a damaged file. MS Word can not open it ('file is damaged' or 'not enough space' ). It also looks like the downloaded file is always bigger then the uploaded source.
    I did a test:
    - download one layout from a backup server (with APEX 4.02)
    - controlled it by opening in Word, all fine
    - upload to APEX 5.0
    - test in the application, result is ok.
    - download again: file size changed from 284kB to 388kB, file is damaged.
Is there any help? - Thank you!

    Hi Norbert,
Getting back to your report layout download problem - there is an issue with certain versions of the database, which causes CLOB_TO_BLOB conversion to not always work properly (bug 7459168). This is what is causing the download of your RTF documents to produce invalid results. The files in your database are not affected by this, it's only an issue on export. To work around this database bug we've filed bug 20931298, and we've implemented a fix for this, which will be available with out first patch set, APEX 5.0.1. As usual, I do not have a date yet when this will be available. Can I ask what version of the database you are currently using?

  • Create Report Layout (Apex 3.2) - How can I set the substitution variables?

    Hi,
I created a "Report Query" under "Shared Components". I now want to work on the corresponding "report layout". I created a "Generic Columns (XSL-FO)". I read the following in the documentation:
The following are valid substitution strings:
    #PAGE_HEADER#
    #PAGE_HEADERFONT_COLOR#
    #PAGE_HEADER_FONT_FAMILY#
    #PAGE_HEADER_FONT_SIZE#
    #PAGE_HEADER_FONT_WEIGHT#
    #PAGE_FOOTER#
    #PAGE_FOOTER_FONT_COLOR#
    #PAGE_FOOTER_FONT_FAMILY#
    #PAGE_FOOTER_FONT_SIZE#
    #PAGE_FOOTER_FONT_WEIGHT#
    #PAGE_WIDTH#
    #PAGE_HEIGHT#
    #HEADER_BG_COLOR#
    #HEADER_FONT_COLOR#
    #HEADER_FONT_FAMILY#
    #HEADER_FONT_SIZE#
    #HEADER_FONT_WEIGHT#
    #BODY_BG_COLOR#
    #BODY_FONT_COLOR#
    #BODY_FONT_FAMILY#
    #BODY_FONT_SIZE#
    #BODY_FONT_WEIGHT#
    #BORDER_WIDTH#
Where can I set the values for these substitution variables in my "Report Layout"? Could someone give an example? I can't seem to find documentation on this.
    Thanks!
    Francois

Thanks for the tip however I'm not trying to do this through the print tab, I'm calling the report using the following get_print_document in pl/sql code:
    l_report_blob := apex_util.get_print_document(
    p_application_id => l_application_id,
    p_report_layout_name => l_report,
    p_report_query_name => l_report,
    p_report_layout_type => l_output_format,
    p_document_format => l_output_format,
    p_print_server => null);
Where could I set these substitution variables ? I'm simply calling a report query and layout created under Shared Components.
    Thanks
    Francois
