Shared dataset configuration with incorrect datasource appears to be cached for subscribed reports

Hi
I am using SSRS 2012 and have set up multiple reports. One report appears to have originally used a shared dataset that was using a datasource on a different machine (development pc). This became apparent when the developement machine
was decommisioned and the report threw an error.
Interestingly, after pointing the report to the new location of the shared dataset, the report runs fine. However, when the report is run via a subscription (email or file share delivery) it fails. The log shows a ServerConfigurationErrorException
and the SSRS log points back to the shared dataset. Renaming or deleting/recreating the shared dataset has no effect. Also restarting SSRS has no effect. It seems the old dataset with an incorrect datasource is being cached somewhere.
Here is the stack trace from the SSRS log file:
library!WindowsService_0!1b24!02/19/2014-18:07:00:: e ERROR: Throwing Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.ServerConfigurationErrorException: AuthzInitializeContextFromSid: Win32 error: 110, Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.ServerConfigurationErrorException: The report server has encountered a configuration error. ;

So far the only solution that seems to work has been to embed the offending datasets in the report. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? Perhaps there's a way to flush SSRS and remove redundant shared datasets?
Thanks in advance,
Blair

Hi Blair,
The problem may be occurs due to  RS windows service account does not have enough rights to read Active Directory account properties for the account that owns the subscription.
In your case, we can change the service account to an account has permissions to invoke the Win32 API to solve the issue. For example, we can change the account to be NetworkService or LocalSystem:
Backup the encryption key using Reporting Serivces Configuration Manager.
Change the service account using Reporting Serivces Configuration Manager.
Restore the encryptiong key using Reporting Serivces Configuration Manager.

  • JDBC Configuration with Multi Datasource

    Hi all,
    We're using Weblogic 9.2 and has configured Multi Datasource with Failover algorithm. All is working well, but our DBA has reported that some requests were randomly still going to the 2nd node although he was sure that nothing was wrong with the 1st node. Is this an expected behavior with the Failover algorithm.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Besetya

    Some of the application-level work? I think you can configure an MDS to 'fail over' if the first pool is
    simply at capacity and unable to deliver another connection. You can check that, and make sure the
    first pool is big enough. Than, also configure the backup pool with an initial capacity of 0, so it
    never even makes a connection unless the MDS fails over to it.

  • How to switch Datasource from OLE to ODBC for existing report

    I have a report that must be deployed to an app that requires all datasource connections to be ODBC. I do not have access to the source for this app since it is from/developed by a 3rd party.
    My report has 3 commands (Command, Command_1, Command_2) against an OLE datasource. I cannot figure out how to switch these over from OLE to my ODBC datasource and still maintain all the existing Crystal internal references to fields for the content, formulas, etc.
    Thank you in advance for your assistance!

  • Configuring Multiple LDAP Datasources in VDS

    Hi,
    I'm trying to configure multiple LDAP Datasources using VDS, one talking to AD and other to Novell eDir from VDS, my LDAP connection strings works well but when I start the service in VDS the service will never startup all I see is Exception null, it does not throw any exception at the same time it doesn't start up the service. I've tried configuring with signle Datasource which works fine. This is failing  when I combine those two datasources into one configuration. Have any configured multiple datasources with in VDS. Not sure if you have encountered any problems.
    Thanks,
    Joe.P

    Are you just trying to bring in two LDAP data sources or do a join between them?
    Actually both I believe are considered types of joins.
    You cannot just define two datasources and expect them to show up.

  • TS1369 i have just registered my new ipod but it doesnt appear in the menu for me to update it with the new music but it has put music into my old ipod....do i need to create a new apple i.d for my new ipod and create a second itunes app??

    Hi,
    O already have a really old ipod and just had a new one which i have registed today but when i have downloaded the itunes app onto my new laptop i cannot see the new ipod in the menu to update the music i have just purchsed.
    Furthermore it seems to have put the new album into my old itunes so once i connect my old ipod i assume it will want to put it on there. I bought a new one as my old ipod is only 4gb and there is no space on it.
    Can someone help please?

    Registering an iPod or any other iDevice for warranty and support has nothing to do with the device appearing in iTunes.  For what silly reason would you expect that to occur????
    Honestly, it sounds like you have no clue how to use iTunes or sync media to the devices.  Might be a good idea to read the User's Guide for the iPod to understand how to use it.

  • Failing to execute  Check: systems configured with DHCP

    Recommendation: Oracle supports installations on systems with DHCP-assigned public IP addresses. However, the primary network interface on the system should be configured with a static IP address in order for the Oracle Software to function properly. See the Installation Guide for more details on installing the software on systems configured with DHCP.
    Status: Not Executed
    Why is Oracle failing to execute the check? What sort of check does Oracle run for DHCP IPs?
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks

    A server is not supposed to work with DHCP but with a fixed IP address. Enterprise Manager DB Control Console will only work with a fixed IP address, if ever either the IP or the hostname change then EM won't work any more unless it is reconfigured.
    The purpose of the loopback adapter is to provide a fixed IP address on a dynamic assigned environment. You should make sure once you fix the IP address by means of DHCP to name this IP address in the host file at c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\host.

    Thanks Pallavi for the effort. I tried commenting out, its still the same. It do not throw exception this time. However, It tells me that the recon event is completed and linked to user. When I go to user's profile, I dont see the resource provisioned.
    Also,
    The Account ID in recon manager of Web Console and the Account ID that is stored in the tables, doesn't match.
    I wrote a custom code to fetch account and user details and here is the output,
    User Key : 13 -- has Login Id : USER_CS
    Account with account key : 49 is with user key : [USER_CS]
    Getting Account Data......
    {UD_TEST_1P_EMPLOYEENUMBER=1567, UD_TEST_1P_NAME=Kim1}
    However the Account Id in recon manager is : 91
    This seems fine.
    Doesn't this mean, the account is reconciled successfully?
    The problem is that, I am not able to see this resource in User's resource profile.

  • I just installed LV2011 and one dll from my vi won't load with the error "application configuration is incorrect"

    I just installed LV2011 and one dll from my vi won't load with the error "application configuration is incorrect", which is Windows lingo for "missing package dependencies".  All the computers at my company with 2010 loaded seem to do OK.  When I do a Dependencies Walk I get missing Visual C debug dll's missing plus IEshims and wer which both have a whole tree of dependencies missing on my machine.  The Windows install is the same "Windows XP version 2002 Service Pack 3" on my PC and the working PC's. So I'm thinking I have to uninstall 2011 and go back to 2010.  Is this correct?  Those VC debug dll's were installed on the machines with 2010 in them but were not installed in mine.
    I've heard the advice to recompile the dll with debug turned off but I don't have access to the source code.
    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for the reply.  This at least tells me that going back to LV2010 is not likely to solve the problem.  The missing dll's are:
    MFC90D.dll
    MSVCR90D.dll
    IESHMS.dll
    WER.dll
    And, once again, IESHMS and WER have other dependencies.  So perhaps i need to install the Visual C++ development environment.
    IESHIMS.dll is an Internet Explorer DLL that gets usually delay loaded by shdocvw.dll. As delay load it can not cause DLL load errors but only runtime errors. Maybe your DLL has it as direct dependency but that is unlikely since it does not have a documented interface.
    WER.dll is Windows error reporting for Vista/Win7.
    MFC90D.dll is the Microsoft Foundation classes and MSVCR90D.dll is the MS C runtime library, both as debug variant.
    So all the DLLs you mention are actually MS DLLs! You haven't identified the DLL that you try to access in LabVIEW that causes these error messages. IESHIMS and WER are usually delay loaded by any component that needs it and should not likely be used by non MS code.
    What is the DLL you try to load into LabVIEW and by whom? Get the provider of that DLL to provide you a non Debug build of the DLL. Installing Visual C on all the machines just to make the DLL load is not a solution, besides that it is likely not legal since I doubt you have that many licenses.

  • Errors in LDAP configuration with Shared Services

    Dear sirs,
    we are getting errors in LDAP configuration with Shared Services.
    Base DN is ou=Grupos,cn=East,o=SSGH,c=br,o=Grupo East
    The group cn is cn=AH
    In LDAP log you can see the applications is searching the group:
    "ou=Grupos,cn=East,o=SSGH,c=br,o=Grupo"
    When it should be:
    “ou=Grupos,cn=East,o=SSGH,c=br,o=Grupo East”
    We think the problem is with space in Base DN "o=Grupo East", it is not properly considered.

    Hi.
    Could you try to define the Base DN as :
    ou=Grupos,cn=East,o=SSGH,c=br,o=Grupo\ East
    I don't know if will work fine.. but you can use special characteres using with the "\"
    Good luck.

  • CSS One Arm Configuration with VIP(non-shared)/IP Interface Redundancy

    With Reference to the following CCO documentation;
    1). "How to Configure the CSS to Load Balance Using 1 Interface"
    In this example, the Real Server's (10.10.10.2 etc) gateway are pointed to the router's gateway(10.10.10.1) and used the 'add destination service' command to NAT the RealServer's IP address back to the VIP (10.10.10.6).
    2). "Understanding and Configuring VIP and Interface Redundancy on the CSS11000".
    In the interface redundancy configuration, the gateway of the Real Server are configured as the CSS11000's Interface Redundancy Address (192.168.1.1), not the Router's gateway.
    Can anyone help to advise on the preferred one arm configuration with VIP/IP redundancy?
    (i). Is the reason for configuring the gateway of the Real Server to CSS11000's Interface Redundancy Address in 2) same as using 'add destination service' command in 1)? That is to make sure that the return path from Real Server back to Client passes through the CSS and is NAT back to the VIP.
    (ii). To configure VIP(non-shared)/IP Interface redundancy(Active/Backup Mode) in a one arm configuration, my understanding is that there are 2 methods of configuration. Is it correct? Which method is preferred?
    Method a)
    1.Configure the Real Server's gateway to Router's Gateway
    2.Configure 'add destination service' command on the CSS to NAT the RealServer's IP address back to the VIP
    3.Configure VIP(non-shared) redundancy for the VIP on the CSS
    4.IP Interface Redundancy on the CSS is not required as the Real Server's gateway is already pointing to the Router's gateway. (Assuming that HSRP redundancy is already running on the Router)
    Method b)
    1. Configure the Real Server's gateway to the CSS's IP Interface Redundancy IP Address
    2. Configure IP Interface Redundancy on the CSS (as the Real Server's gateway)
    3. Configure VIP(non-shared) redundancy for the VIP on the CSS

    if you use method a) (server gateway is the router) you need the CSS to nat
    the source ip address of the client in order to force the server to send traffic back to the CSS.
    The issue then is that the server does not see the IP address of real client.
    The server only see connections with source IP address = CSS ip address.
    With method b) you don't have the above problem, but connection initiated by the servers are sent to the CSS that will then send it to the router.
    You have a performance issue because the traffic will cross 2 times the one-armed interface.
    If this is a new design, it is strongly recommended not to use one-armed setup.

    Gilles.

  • Shared Data Source with prompted credentials - errors out.

    Using Data Tools (VS 2010) to build report.
    Have built a simple report while trying to diagnose this issue.  This report is created in a project that was originally built in BIDS2008 and migrated to Data Tools 2010.  This project contains an original shared dataset that does NOT
    error out.
    Report contains
         1) shared data source with properties set to prompted credentials.
         2) shared dataset using data source above
         3) 2 parameters (month and year)
         4) Report uses shared dataset
         5) 2 text boxes in the report body to display the parameters values.
    When I try to preview this report I get the error:
         The execution failed for the shared data set "xxx"
         Cannot create a connection to data source 'Data source for shared dataset'
         Security processing failed with reason "3" ("password missing")
    Now, if I changed that same shared dataset to use a static login and password; the report renders fine.
    What is going on???

    Hi RoseNeedsAVacation,
    When you use shared data source with "Prompt for credential" option, please use SQL Server login credential to u view the report in BIDS or SSDT report designer environment.
    Note: The shared data source will automatic switch to SQL Server authentication mode if we use "Prompt for credential" option.
    After you deploy your report and shared data source to report server, please remember to configure your shared data source to use "Credentials supplied by the user running the report" option. Furthermore, select "Use
    as Windows credentials when connecting to the data source" checkbox if the credentials that the user provides are Windows Authentication credentials. Do not select this check box if you are using database authentication (for example, SQL
    Server Authentication).

  • "Side-by-side configuration is incorrect" when trying to install MS DirSync tool

    Apologies if this is the wrong thread, but it seems like every thread is the wrong thread for this one :)  Yes, I've checked all the other "side-by-side configuration" threads, but none of them seems to apply to this case.
    I have a SBS 2012 machine, acting as DC, AD DS and DNS, and our organization has recently signed up for Office 365 Online E1, and we've migrated our mail there.  Everything is set up, but now I'd like to sync our AD with MS Online.  I enabled directory
    sync in the admin user and group controls on the Office 365 site and as per instructions, I downloaded the latest version of DirSync from here:http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/18429.microsoft-azure-active-directory-sync-tool-version-release-history.aspx.
    However, when I try to install it on the server, I get this error message:  "The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please run sxtrace or see the application event log for more detail."
    Sxtrace gives the following results:
    =================
    Begin Activation Context Generation.
    Input Parameter:
    Flags = 0
    ProcessorArchitecture = AMD64
    CultureFallBacks = en-US;en
    ManifestPath = N:\temp\dirsync.exe
    AssemblyDirectory = N:\temp\
    Application Config File =
    INFO: Parsing Manifest File N:\temp\dirsync.exe.
    INFO: Manifest Definition Identity is (null).
    ERROR: Line 0: XML Syntax error.
    ERROR: Activation Context generation failed.
    End Activation Context Generation.
    Things I've tried:
    Other posts seem to indicate that it's often an issue with missing visual C++ libraries, but I installed both the 2008 and 2010 C redistributables for x86 and x64, and nothing has changed.
    One solution for a similar message had a typographical error in an xml configuration file, however in this case the "Application config file" field is blank.
    As several other (non TN threads) around the 'net recommend, I ran SFC.  It appears to work for others with the same error message.  It fixed some issues and spit out a huge log file, but the problem persists, and I don't know where in the log
    file to look, assuming anything in there is relevant (the file is over 700kb, so I'm not going to start spamming big chunks of it just yet unless I know what to look for).
    The problem seems to come up in the context of software development (another thread on this subject is about the user developing an application from scratch) but I have no background in software dev, and this is supposed to be an official tool from Microsoft,
    for crying out loud, not some homebrew thing I'm putting together.
    This one issue is keeping us from moving ahead with our entire plan for user access, so any help would be
    much appreciated. Thanks!!!

    Hi AGrush,
    Based on your description, did you mean that attempt to install Microsoft Azure Active Directory Sync tool
    on Windows Server 2012 Essentials?
    The Azure Active Directory Sync tool should be installed on a computer which isn't a domain controller. For
    more details, please refer to the System requirements in the following KB.
    How to troubleshoot Azure Active Directory Sync tool installation
    and Configuration Wizard error messages
    In addition, I’m a little confused that why install DirSync (That is what the Windows Server Essentials Office
    365 integration is for) on Windows Server 2012 Eseentails.
    Manage Office 365 in Windows Server Essentials
    If anything I misunderstand or any update, please don’t hesitate to let me know.
    Hope this helps.
    Best regards,

  • Event-driven refresh of cached shared datasets

    We have a growing business intelligence solution deployed on SQL Server 2008 R2.  All reports are in SSRS and are executed via web browser by the end-users throughout the day.
    We have been investigating how to improve performance and so far it appears that converting report datasets to shared datasets and then caching those shared datasets provides the greatest opportunity.  (We can't snapshot or cache the individual reports
    themselves as they all contain customized content based upon the end user's roles and permissions).
    Creation of the shared datasets and setting them to be cached is easy, and we're seeing really nice performance improvements.
    However, we haven't been able to find a way to refresh the cached data without using the SSRS calendar-based schedule.  Our ETL process completes anywhere from 8 am to sometime after noon depending on data availability from source systems, so we can't
    just pick a point in time to refresh the cached data.
    Ideally we'd like to add commands to the end of the SSIS workstream that loads the database, and have these commands expire the existing cached datasets and refresh their data.
    We've been able to use the SetCacheOptions stored procedure to expire the cached datasets, ensuring that the next run of the top-level report will pull new data - but the performance hit on that first execution is significant.  We'd rather have the
    caches refresh systematically when ETL completes so that our end users are always seeing the fastest performance with the most current data.

    Hi GottaLoveSQL,
    As we know, there is no explicit setting for conditionally expiring the report cache. To work around this issue, you can use a stored procedure for the report dataset and create a parameter you can pass from the report to indicate that you should explictly
    flush the report instance cache. Then, in the stored procedure, check this parameter and expire the cache using the sp_start_job. After that, in the SSIS package which performs the ETL process, add a SQL Task which start a subscription job which will reload
    the dataset cache. For more information, please see:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sqlreportingservices/thread/eb0dd2a6-9d2f-4430-9e88-020377e4fafd.
