Shared internet, shared internet not working, shared internet not working

when i go to options>generelt>interenett > the shared internett is just loading and nothing happends

Yes I have a similar problem, I could share my internet connection over wifi from my macbook using Lion, Mountain Lion and Mavericks but immediately I updated to Yosemite I cannot share my connection.
I was sharing my iPhone internet connection using USB through my macbook and have not changed anything other than Yosemite, any help would be greatly appreciated as I don't have any other way of accessing the internet.
I've tried turning Firewall off but it has no effect, still no sharing.

  • Internet does not work on sharing computer

ok the problem is this the second computer that shares the internet connection download speed starts ok but within 1/2 a second slows down to zero the same thing with mail gets a connection but then cuts off. Both computers are running 10.5.1 the main computer which ever one I set as main works fine just the sharing computer has these problems. I started form 10.4.6 on the main computer and everything works fine as it should do, why wont it work under leopard ?I am using a wired ethernet thru a switch.
    Please help me
    thanks

I would recommend checking what wifi network you are connecting to.  Xfinity wifi is their hotspot not your internal network.  if you are connected to the xfinity wifi it will not work unless you sign in.

  • Internet sharing is slow / not working at all

    Hello everybody and everyone.
Something strage has happend with my Internet Sharing.. I discovered it for me since a week. So, I made the whole thing in the Preferences bla-bla-bla.. A week or even more it was working. (I'm using my iPod with the Wi-fi from my iMac. And iMac becomes it from Ethernet) So, it worked perfectly.. But now my iPad see it, use it, but if I want to look a movie or something like that (it worked, actually) he just stops. Internet surfing is every time like "10min pause, then JUMP...another 10 min pause".
Internet on my iMac still be perfect. So thats not a problem. When I click on my sharing WiFi, it shows me something like "The connection with "(null)" is failed. By the connection the timeout is occurred" (sorry for my english, actually I use a German language on my Mac, so if somebody knows it: "Die Verbindung mit „(null)“ ist fehlgeschlagen. Bei der Verbindung ist eine Zeitüberschreitung aufgetreten.")
I tried to change passwords / chanells / name, but nothing help. It gives some "push" for 5 seconds of internet-happiness and then starts this crap again.
To make a long story short: I'm sharing wifi from my iMac, iPod catches it, but when I open a web-site, he can use wifi anymore.
Thanks for help, sorry if it was too long

Mark, this is not the same as Robert Cole's problem. He's talking about Internet sharing -- sharing his Mac's connection to the Internet with other computers. You're talking about Web sharing -- sharing files on your Mac with others via the Web.
Robert, I haven't had success with this yet, either -- but I've only tried it once, and didn't have the opportunity to fiddle. I would try -- in order --
    turning off the FireWall on the G5;
going into Network Preferences > Airport > TCP/IP on the iBook, and listing your G5's Airport IP-address as the default router. While you're there, make sure your iBook has an Airport IP-address that's different than the G5's, but on the same subnet (differing only in the last number).
If #2 works, you can probably turn the firewall on your G5 back on.
Post back & let me know how it goes!

  • WiFi Internet Sharing Suddenly not Working

I'm using a MacBook white early 2008 with Lion 10.7.5 installed on it
I have been using internet sharing features to share internet from my ethernet to WiFi for several years, and it's working fine
Suddenly today when i'm using iPhone, it stopped working.
My iPhone can connect to the WiFi network, but it can't connect to the internet shared by the MacBook.
What is the possible solution to this problem?
Is it hardware related? Maybe because i use the Internet Sharing features too much?
ps : When i'm using the WiFi to connect to another network, it works perfectly fine.

FYI - I spoke to Apple support earlier and this is still not an acknowledged issue. Ergo, no one is looking into it.
They have 'offered' to call me back when at home to go over my setup that was working fine in IOS5 but not IOS6 as the setup MUST be the issue. Not sure if I made things worse by pointing out that I'm and IT consultant and have worked with Apple systems for more years than I'd care to admit to.....
The support tech I spoke said that her home sharing works fine. Hmmmmm.
I'd suggest that EVERYONE puts in for a support callback (you can go through the iPad option and chose the 'I should get an exception for updating to ios6' option) and get them working.

  • 10.3 PB wireless sharing internet to 10.4 MB Pro not working

Hi, I want to set up an ad-hoc network and share wireless internet connection from my XP PC, to 10.3.9 PowerBook (cable), to my wife's new MacBook Pro (wireless). Of course, the PB's Ethernet-to-AirPort sharing is active in the preferences.
    What DOES work:
    1. MB Pro does connect to the PB properly, AppleTalk works fine
    2. MB Pro does receive a DHCP address, as far as I can see in the network preferences
    What DOESN'T work:
Neither the browsers nor Mail can "see" the internet.
TRIED both creating network and sharing connection w/ password. MB Pro said the connection was working well. What tools should I use to eliminate the problems? I thought the sharing thing would be very, very simple to do, I've never had such issues with PC-to-Mac sharing.
    Thanks in advance!
    PowerBook G4 1.25 + MacBook Pro 2.16   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Why not buy an inexpensive wireless router that would provide the wireless or wired signals to your network...? Often available at major electronics retailers for under US$40
In your pt#2, please share at least the first three sets of digits in her IP address
    (like: 192.168.0.xx)

Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...

Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)

  • I just got a new system for my Mac OS and the internet sharing is not working.

The "Sharing" in the System Preferences looks way different and has screen charing, scanner sharing, remote login, remote management, remote apple events, and bluetooth sharing with checks near it. I once connected to my laptop, but it said something like an IP address needed to be verified. I then put in an address and they gave me one but it's still not working. Please help! How do I connect the internet?

Your text is not clear: you wish to connect to the internet, and you cannot do that? or you want to share your internet connection, to be used by other computers, and you do not know how to do this?
The title of your thread indicates the latter (this is the meaning of share), but your text rather indicates the former situation.
In order to share net, you must first mac connected to the net up and running, but I understand you did not get to that point, right?
    Please be clear.

  • Internet sharing suddenly not working, PC related problem

Here's the scenario. My Mac-Mini, using 10.7.4, is sharing its Wi-fi connection to my airport extreme base station through a hard-wired ethernet connection with a PC. So the mac is tethered via ethernet cable to the PC, so it can share its wifi connection to my AEBN. This arrangement has been working fine for over a year now.
Today I updated the PC's (running XP SP3)  browser from IE7 to IE8 so I could use some web based work related sites. But now I can't connect to the internet on the PC. The PC confirms it has a network connection, and it sending and receiving packets of data, but if you open a browser, any browser, it can't load or do any business whatsoever.
What I've checked: Nothing on the mac's system prefs have changed. The mac works on the internet just fine. I've run through the PC's network connection wizzard 3 times already, no joy on the browser, but the Mac is capable of seeing shared files on the PC. The PC firewall is off. I don't know what to do or who to talk to. I realize this probably isn't the place to seek help as I think its a Windows XP issue but I'm a Mac user and the connection is shared (because the PC has no wifi card) so its in a gray area.

  • Messages not working while using Internet sharing from my iMac ... Any troubleshooting tips/approaches ?

I am connecting to the internet using the Internet Sharing from my iMac ...
The trouble is the messages in the Messages app are not sent when I am connected through my iMac ... When I key in a message and hit send a progress bar appears fills up till 90% and just gets stuck there and after a while the red exclamation mark stating the message was not sent appears ... Now if I connect through my wi-fi router or thether through my phone it works fine ... I can send / recieve messages ...
Similar points to note - Today when I tried to make an App Purchase - The security info screen ( new additon - http://isource.com/2012/04/11/iphone-app-store-security-info-alert/ ) popped up but I got a blank screen for the securtiy questions screen ... It was not loading the screen ... Some games the game center invite does not work through my Internet sharing (tried in MetalStorm) ... but works fine thorough wi-fi or thether ...
What could be the problem with my iMac s sharing? Any suggestions would be really useful ///  Thanx in advance
I am running Lion ... and I have updated to the latest Airport software ...
Only thing I tried was changing the DNS ... but that s not related right ?

Powerline adapters use your home powerlines (mains a/c) to connect your devices via ethernet to your modem, they're easy to set up and the they TOTALLY fixed my ATV problem, the problem seems to be with the wireless. I've been trawling through apple discussions, and did found a workaround to my problem https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4222883?start=0&tstart=0
but its just a workaround :/

  • The internet sharing is not working on my iPhone.

The internet sharing, from my iMac, is not working on my iPhone. It is connected at the beginning, but after a while (to be exact, 2 minutes!), the connection is lost. Can anyone helps me?
    Thanks.

Try this one, it's really worked, http://www.appletips.nl/os-x-10-7-4-fix-voor-draadloos-netwerk-problemen-imac/ . I tried last night, and it's working. But you need to translate the page.
If you haven't sent the feedback yet, try to contact them. It's maybe good for Apple's user in the future. http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html

  • Lion internet sharing/ audio output not working even after reading through/ following other threads

Hi, since updatig to Lion my iMac internet sharing is not working i have renamed to a shorter name as advised in other threads but this still does't work I wish to share my ethernet connection wirelessly but after turning it on i can never get the arrow symbol on the top bar. Also i can only play audio through the built in speakers but no headphones/external speakers even after playing with the audio midi settings as seen in other posts but no such luck.

First, see if you can change the "Play audio using:" selection in Edit > Preferences > Playback - if you select Direct Audio rather than Windows Audio Session this may address the issue.  Note, however, that the Direct Audio option seems to be unavailable in some cases for Windows 8.1.
Otherwise, there is an alternative downloader for 64-bit editions of Windows here:
iTunes 12.1 for Windows (64-bit — for older video cards)
that seems to address the playback issues that some users have been reporting with the full 64-bit version (the alternative installer here is the same architecture as most previous "64-bit" versions of iTunes, i.e., a 32-bit application with a 64-bit installer).  The "for older video cards" label appears to be something of a misnomer as some people have reported that this corrects problems found on current / high-spec systems.
After installing this alternative version it may still be necessary to adjust the "Play audio using:" selection in Edit > Preferences > Playback to restore glitch-free audio.

  • Internet Sharing not working since 10.6.6 upgrade

Hi all. Hopefully someone can help me as I've been racking my brains on this one.
I originally had Internet Sharing setup from ethernet cable to airport and working perfectly. I could then access the internet wirelessly using my iphone and mac book.
Since upgrading to 10.6.6 (at least I think so) it has stopped working.
Internet is working perfectly on mac mini and other devices can access the internet through working wireless modem downstairs. I need to turn on Internet sharing through the mac mini so that we have internet on the 3rd floor of our townhouse.
I've tried switching off Internet Sharing, then restarting the computer, turning it on again and switching on internet sharing with a different network name, password, channel etc. Nothing seems to get it working again.
I've emptied the trash (200,000 files which is a bit of a worry) and repaired permissions.
Any suggestions would be a great help.
    Cheers

No solution here; I'm having the same problem.
In a hotel with wired Ethernet to my MacBook Pro. Once I enable Internet Sharing, the Pro's Internet connectivity goes down. Looks like I get two "default" routes. I can connect my iPhone4 fine to the WiFi created, with WEP enabled; that's not my problem.

    default            172.29.7.254       UGSc          119        2     en0

  • Lumia 920 Internet Sharing not working with Window...

I am unable to get Internet Sharing to work from a nokia Lumia 920 to Dell XPS running Windows 8 with Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1030. Help !!
    Things I have tried:
+ Checked the phone was actually working with Internet sharing:  Different laptop running Winows XP connected fine, everything worked
+ Checked the Dell XPS could connect to inernet sharing using an HTC One as the hot spot: everything worked fine.
+ Tried turning on FIPS: made no difference:
+ Tried updating/different drivers: made no difference
+ Tried turning of N, and only using g: made no difference
+ Tried different access point settigns on the phone: made no difference
This is one of those things I expect to just work, like it does when the phoen is used with a different laptop, or when a different phone is used with this laptop.
I've run out of ideas. Any help appreciated.

Finally fixed it. First I tried using the latest Intel drivers, but to no avail. So I did a driver rollback, and that seems to be working. Driver version now at 14.2.1.3, Microsoft release.
So problem is a compaitibility issue with the drivers on the windows laptop.  All I can advise others having similar problems is keep trying different drivers (newest not necessarily the best)

  • Can Apple TV work from home sharing if not connected to internet?

I have recently purchased Apple TV but where it has to be connected to the TV it cannot be detected by the Airport Wifi router that is placed on the property.
I can use my Macbook to connect to the internet, but can I some how use home sharing to my Apple Tv even if it is not connected to the internet?
If not, is there any other possible way to get Apple TV to work?

I would get a pair of mains powerline networking adapters to send ethernet from the router to the AppleTV across the mains.
Unfortunately AppleTv requires internet to briefly authorise protected content and won't work without it via Home Sharing.
A while since I tested unprotected content but I suspect that won;t work either as AppleTV needs internet to set the time.

  • MacBook Air wifi internet shared network not working on tethered android phone GT B5122

MacBook Air wifi internet shared network not working on tethered android phone GT B5122
I have created a password protected wifi internet network on my Macbook air. I tethered by Andriod phone onto this network, but the internet connection works intermittently on the phone, and when it stops working the network continues to show as connected to the shared network mostly(other times it keeps renewing the wifi IP address on the Andriod phone).
Also the network the MBA is connected to, is a hardwired one using a SSH login account in a student accomadations.
I am not sure, but all the restarting and refreshing of system, phone and wifi sharing and re-enabling wifi is not reparing the internet connecting on the wifi network for the phone
Really puzzled, if this is one of the Apple, Andriod compatability issues.
    Cheers,

    Hi.
I'm having trouble with the wireless connection on my new home hub 3. Most devices will connect easily, but there are three devices that have trouble connecting. These are an Android Phone (Samsung Galaxy Mini), an android tablet (Sony Tablet S) and an iPod. All of these devices work perfectly on other network connections, and other devices in the house are quite happy connecting to the network.
The Androids can see the network, and will try to connect to it, but when they do they just go through a loop of "connecting">>"acquiring IP address">>"disconnected". I have tried resetting the Home Hub with a pin, and that lets the devices connect for about 24 hours, but after that time they stop connecting again.
I'm really not sure what to do to fix the problem, so I will very much appreciate some help.
    Many Thanks.
My lads SGMini connects perfectly to our hub3
Have you installed the BTFon app to these devices?
If so, you could delete it and then see what hapens.....
