Shared Menu

at forms developer 6i the shared menu are not supported then how to disable that property if the original menu come from developer 4.5 to developer 6i???

I am having the same problem.
I have had to re-build my new MacBook Pro at least 3 times and am getting ready to do it again.
My MBP is connected to a network with 2 other PC's one Vista and the other XP. I have "Lost" the shared servers listing after I have installed other programs such as Winclone that I wanted to use backing up my Vista Boot Camp partition and another utility that would have allowed me to both read and write to NTFS formatted disks.
I have called Apple support and they have no clue.
I have worked with the company that made the driver that would allow me to frread and write to the NTFS partitions. They could not replicate the issue.
Because I have totally re-installed my system, I am now believing this is an issue or bug with Leopard and I do not know how to get further help from Apple.
Any thoughts?
I have also done safe re-boots, removed and addes the check marks in Finder preferences to turn on and off the displ;ay of Shared items but no luck.
Help??
I am also going to putg this in a new post

  • Some macs don't appear in shared menu

I've got an iMac, mac mini, and a dual core all running on an airport network. When I am on my Tower the other machines sometimes disappear out of the shared menu in the finder window. They are on and awake, yet I can't share files. Files sharing is on, on all computers. What's up with that?

If you've never used them before (they are new) then they are not formatted for Macs.
    Drive Partition and Format
    1. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Apply button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Security button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
    6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
When you want to remove an external device you must Eject it:
First, select the Desktop icon of the external disk. CTRL- or RIGHT-click and select Eject from the context menu.

goto the finder menu->finder-> preferences. Click on the "sidebar" tab and make sure that "connected servers" and "bonjour computers" boxes are checked. This will enable "Sharing" section in Finder sidebar. Mind you, it will only show up if there is anything to share. If not you won't see it.

  • Shared menu missing when saving from Photoshop CS6

I'm using Yosemite on an iMac and I am currently connected to two servers. I can open and save files from just about every application except Photoshop CS6. For example, I click File > Open and the shared menu isn't there with the servers listed underneath. Also, if I try to Save As, that dialog box is missing the shared menu with the servers listed as well. I've been working around it by opening files from Finder, or by opening recent folders from those servers, but if the server I need to save to isn't recent, it becomes a problem. I'm a graphic designer and I work with Photoshop a lot, so I really need this to work. Is there a preference I'm not seeing that will put the shared menu back on the Open and Save As dialog boxes?

I take that back. I just downloaded the update 10.10.1 and the shared menu is back. Thank you! That makes my life so much easier!

  • How can I remove the "shared" menu in the finder?

    Hey Folks,
I hope my question makes sense - have a look at my screenshot: http://i11.tinypic.com/717nkhf.png
how can I remove that "shared' menu, I don't know its there and I would like to take it out please.
    thanks.
    -Joey

    Hey Matt...
When I select it, it's blank.. nothing's in there... I think I first saw that when I used my laptop @ a hotel I had to connect through a ethernet cable and there was a bunch of networks... but now I am back in my office and just connecting to my wirless connection called "rhino's" (thats' the name of my company)
So I'm not sure why the "All" is there.. and when I click on it, it doesn't show any network...
Hope its not too confusing mate.
    Thanks,

  • Computer appears in it's own 'Shared Menu'

My computer is appearing twice in the left hand bar of a finder window. Once as it should, under 'devices', below that also under 'shared'.
Under devices the computer has added (2) after its name. When I try and remove this in the sharing pane in System Preferences it tells me I cannot call it name as name is already present on the network.
This would appear to be the entry under the 'shared' menu.
I can't seem to get rid of this.
I suspect it's something to do with having a Qnap Nas drive attached to my network and that the 'shared' menu thing happens when I have to power the computer down using the power button rather than shutting down or sleeping as normal. But this might be nonsense.

Yes this is to cruel!! I have been looking the whole for a solution and so close now and then so far away!!
    Please let us know!

  • How to create a shared menu bar

I can't see a way to create a single menu bar that is shared by several pages and only needs to be updated in one place. Surely DreamWeaver has such a feature?

You have already been answered by the methods to use,, but this is my long winded answer to your question - explaining both techniques:
    You have 2 choices:
    Templates
    Server Side Includes
Using the template function within Dreamweaver is a good way to go if it's a small site . .
For larger sites then serverside includes would be more practical and earlier for maintenance purposes.
    Templates:
You create a master template page, you declare which areas will be the same for every page, (non-editable regions)  and then declare an area that will change on every page (the content area) , these are editable regions.
Once you create the template and save it, you are then able to create 'child' pages from this template  - as many as you like  :-)  If you every need to make a change to the menu or the footer or the header, change it in the master template, save it and the changes will flow through to the child pages created from the template.
    Using DW Templates:
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/templates.html
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/articles/dw_templates.html
The other option is to use Server Side Includes (SSI)
A bit more about SSIs here:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Dreamweaver/10.0_Using/WSc78c5058ca073340dcda9110b1f 693f21-7b6ca.html
    http://bignosebird.com/ssi.shtml
Using PHP includes if your server supports php:
    http://www.w3schools.com/PHP/php_includes.asp
One major difference between using Templates and SSI?
When you make a change to a template page, you will need to re-upload all the pages to the server that were changed - may become very tedious if it is a very large site.
With using SSI, you make a change to one file and only have to upload the one file and all pages on the server will be update accordingly.
When to use Templates, Library Items & SSIs -

I have the same phone as my friend and on my phone there is no menu for sharing connection  like my friend

  • Some unknown pc appeared under my "shared" menu

hi there everyone.. possibly this is a very easy question, and perhaps not as sinister as im imagining?haha..
ive only had this new imac machine for a month or so, and im in love with it of course.. but about a week ago i noticed in my finder- under the "shared" drop menu, a device called "beckys-pute" with a little icon of a pc next to it??
if i click on it , it says connection failed, then i click 'connect as', and it replies"The server may not exist or it is not operational at this time. Check the server name or IP address and your network connection and try again."
i have never gone over my download limit from my isp ever before, and i have got an email telling me that ive used my limit for the month in only the first two weeks!?--am i assuming too much to think that someone else is somehow wirelessly using my internet? or is this just coincidence?
i have airport and bluetooth all deactivated, and i have been thru sys prefs and changed my security, firewall etc ....
should i be concerned about becky and her computer! is it just my neighbour, can she read my stuff!!haha.. we live very rural here, perhaps its an out of towner renting a holiday home?
anyhow, any help would be so much appreciated, as i am a total kook in all matters computer related!
    thanks in advance
    brad the kiwi

i have airport and bluetooth all deactivated, and i have been thru sys prefs and changed my security, firewall etc ....
It's not really the wireless on your computer that matters in this case. It's the wireless for your network that matters. So you have your computer's Airport and bluetooth turned OFF, so you are connected by Ethernet cable. Do you have a router between you and your Internet service? If so, does it do wireless? If so, that's where the trespasser is connected and stealing your bandwidth. You need to make the network secure (use a password) or change the password if it's something easily guessed, or set your router to not use wireless.
If there is no wireless network from a router or your Mac, I don't see how "Becky" is showing up on your network.

  • How do you create a Social Sharing menu button like the one available in Android?

    For sharing images via:
    Facebook
    Flickr
    Picasa
    Email
    MMS
Is there an API for this?
I've seen a lot of Android apps have this feature, so it seems like an API built into Android but do we get access to this feature too?

I think I have been interpreting the instructions incorrectly. I was going into iCloud Mail, NOT the Mail app. I didn't realize they were connected, and that iCloud mail messages could be saved to the regular Mail app, which I already know how to use.
Thanks for the response. I think I've got it now.

  • Is it possible to add a service to the sharing menu?

I just started using Minus, to upload some of  my photos specifically (10 GB for free!) Can it be added to to the"share"menu somehow, or is there an easier way to accomplish this? I've tried dragging the pix or folder into the upload interface, but it tells me the file is unavailable. Locating it in Finder is a bit of a chore if the pix were directly imported to iPhoto.

The developers of this service would need to create some kind of plug-in.
    Other than that:
There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:   You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
(Note the above illustration is not a Finder Window. It's the dialogue you get when you go File -> Open)
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
There's a similar option in Outlook and many, many other apps.  If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running:
For users of 10.6 and later:  You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation  which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu.
Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
For Users of 10.4 and 10.5 Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
    Other options include:
Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
Show File:  a. On iPhoto 09 and earlier:  Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.    3.b.
b: On iPhoto 11 and later: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Reveal in Finder -> Original. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.

  • Weird thing showing up in Shared menu in finder

*** is that? Why does it keep showing up? How do I get rid of it?

That symbol of for a machine that is sharing via SMB the windows protocol. It can be a Mac, NAS, or Windows Machine.
You can find the attache devices and their IP addresses from your router.
Routers are often accessed via the IP address of their gateway. Often 192.168.1.1 or 10.0.0.1. The looked for Attached devices tab/option.
It is also there that you can restrict devices that are allowed to attach by their MAC addresses. These are also displayed in he router menus for attached devices.
