SharePoint 2013 Community Site Best Answer Reply *BUG detected and Temporary Resolved*

Hi to all,
This is a BUG detected with a temporary solution for that problem:
* Community Site with many Categories and Discussions.
1.- Make a new discussion.
2.- Give some answers in that discussion.
3.- Mark one as the "Best Answer".
4.- Delete the "Best Answer" reply message.
5.- Your Discussion have been blocked, and there isn't option to use. The drop down button of the discussion do not respond, and new message or reply aren't appear.
SOLUTION:
Enter to Recycle Bin in the SharePoint Site Collection Site Settings and restore the message deleted. For Administrators this is the best option.

The context menu contains 'Best Reply' not 'Best Answer'; what about the case where the reply is an answer just not the 'Best Answer'.  No way to mark a discussion question as answer without making a weak answer the 'Best Answer'; seems flawed.
Hoping the Community Site approves.

  • Enable reporting of offensive content not working in sharepoint 2013 community site

    i am trying to enable "Report to moderator option" in community site but when i checked option "Enable reporting of offensive content" in a community site settings and clicked Ok. I am getting an error "The file is not checked out.You
    must first check out this document before making changes."
    i am not sure why i am getting this error, the same thing works fine in other community site's i have created.
    This community is a backup restore of another community site.
    Is there any other way by which i can enable 'reporting of offensive content'.
    Any pointer's to solve this will be helpful.

    You just need to 
    Enable the Reporting of Offensive Content feature
     Note    You must be a member of the Owners group to enable this feature.
    On the Community tools web part on your community home page, click
    Community settings.
    Select the Enable reporting of offensive content check box.
    Click OK.

  • SharePoint 2013 Community Site Discussion List Custom View Issue

    I need to create a custom view to show the discussions updated in the past 7 days and ordered by most replies.  I have created a custom view based on the subject view and included the following columns:
    Body
    Category
    Last Updated
    Modified By
    Replies
    Subject (linked to item
    the problem is that when you click on the subject link, it does not return that discussion.  We get the message that There are no items to show in this view.
    This happens even if I use the Flat or Threaded view option when creating a custom view.

    You haven't most probably set the "Folders" property when setting up the view. Go to Folders property and set Show this view: In the top-level folder. Also, in Sort property select Replies column and set it to Show items in descending
    order and in Filters property set Last Updated column "is less than or equal to" [Today]+7

  • Browse button not working in Windows Phone while tyring to upload an image to Pictures library in Sharepoint 2013 online site .

    Hi,
    I am trying to upload an image to SharePoint 2013 online site's Pictures Library from the Windows phone. When I click on  Browse button, nothing happens. Although the same browse button in working in the chrome and allowing to select an image from the
    phone library.
    Please let me know if this is the known issue or any work around is available to overcome this.

    Although the mobile version of Internet Explorer is supported by SharePoint 2013, however, for Office 365 SharePoint Online 2013 which keeps updating all the times, there may
    be some compatibility issues during the process.

  • SharePoint 2013 Upgraded Sites from 2010 Missing Title on Home Page

    Hi All,
    I have upgraded site collection from 2010 to 2013 but I can't see site tiles on site Home page. We are using our template to create default web part page. I can see titles when I do Site Actions->Site settings->Look and Feel->Title but
    not on default page of site.
    Need help to solve the issue. Thanks in advance.

    The following steps for your reference:
    1.Open the problem site in SharePoint Designer 2013 (SPD)
    2.Choose All Files option on the left hand quick launch
    3.Click on default.aspx
    4.On the Home tab, switch to Advanced Mode.
    5.Search for "PlaceHolderPageImage" … it’s near the top
    6.Paste the following on the next line (or after the closing </asp:Content> tag)
    <asp:Content ContentPlaceHolderId="PlaceHolderPageTitleInTitleArea" runat="server">
    <label class="">
    <SharePoint:ProjectProperty Property="Title" runat="server"/></label>

  • Display count for each category in sharePoint 2013 blog site

    Hi,
    I have added category list in the left side as web part in SharePoint 2013 blog site.
    Here i want to show the count for each category. And on clicking on the category, it should show the blog posts related to that category.
    Is there any way to do this.

    Hi Aditi,
    To show item counts on a list, you might need to query the list by title in the navigation menu and retrieve item count in the list, then use CSS to add the number to navigation menu. You need to use Client Object Model and JQuery.

  • SharePoint 2013 Blog Site or Discussion LIst - Comment on a Comment

    Hi,
    Quick question.  Is anyone aware of a plug-in or feature or new blog add-in for SP 2013 that allows "comments on comments".   From what I can tell in the blog site and discussion list, you can only comment on the original comment. 
    You cannot comment on someone else's comment as in a tiered fashion.

    Hi,
    According to your post, my understanding is that you want to be able to comment on someone else’s comments displayed in a hierarchical structure.
    In SharePoint 2013, it’s by default that the Discussion Board list’s replies are in the “Flat” view, and it won’t display the replies in a hierarchical structure.
    However, the Discussion Board list have another default view is the “Threaded” view, and it can display replies in a hierarchical structure.
    Therefore, I recommend that you can directly modify the default view of the Discussion Board list’s replies to the “Threaded” view to achieve your requirement.
    For SharePoint 2013 Blog site, as a workaround, I suggest that you also can create a Discussion Board list into it to implement this function.

  • SharePoint 2013 My Site About Me section doesn't save.

    I'm having a problem with the "About me" field in SharePoint 2013 My Sites.
    I can enter a value and "Save all and close" and everything appears just fine.  However, if I go to edit my profile again the About me section appears blank on the edit screen.  So, if I make a change to any other profile field and save,
    the information I entered initially in About me disappears. 
    I check in both Central Administration and directly in the user profile database and Central Admin recognizes that one profile is using that property (we're in pre-production) and the text I entered appears in Property ID 16 in the UserProfileValue
    table... but as soon as I edit and re-save my profile the value disappears on the back end.  It appears the data is submitted to the profile database and displayed on the profile but it is not populated back to the edit screen form and
    is therefore overwritten with NULL values upon save.
    Is anyone else seeing this?  Any ideas?

    We are trying to create new HashTag in sharepoint 2013 community discussion board. But we are unable to do so. It is getting treated as plain text. We are able to use existing hashtag on same discussion board but not able to create new one. Is not that

  • SharePoint 2013 Community members list is not working properly.

    Hello All,
    We have a community site at our office. It is having a discussion list which has almost 2000 discussion. The problem is the members who have raised questions or discussions should get added in community members list. But its not happening. There was only
    11 members were added. The remaining members are not there. So It is showing the wrong top contributors. I really weird due to this issue.

  • SharePoint 2013 My Site Cleanup Timer Job

    Is the My Site Cleanup Timer Job responsible for deleting the User Profile or just the Mysite or both?
    Are Profiles deleted after 14 days or is it some other number.
    Is there any action that would extend this time frame
    I am not able to find any 2013 specific articles on this nut there are many on 2010, is everything still handled the same way?

    The My Site Cleanup Job is responsible for deleting user profiles and My Sites of those users.  This includes the following activities:
    Remove user profiles that are queued for deletion.
    If those users have a My Site, Email the manager letting them know that the user’s My Site will be deleted in 14 days.
    11 days after the first notification, email the manager again letting them know that the My Site will be deleted in 3 days. 
    After a total of 14 days, delete the MySite.
    Run the "My Site Cleanup" Timer job and check if the user profile that is marked as disable in FIM  is deleted.(An important point to note is that this job
    requires a My Site Host to be configured on the UPA, even if you are not using My Sites. )
    If the My Site Cleanup Timer Job is disabled, we can clean up deleted users by the follwoing  powershell:
    Set-SPProfileServiceApplication $upa –PurgeNonImportedObjects $true

    2 Search App server (havent set up these servers yet)
    What would the best way to divide the search componment between the two serarch app servers?
    Crawl component
    Crawls content sources to collect crawled properties and metadata from crawled items and sends this information to the content processing component.
    Content processing component
    Transforms the crawled items and sends them to the index component. This component also maps crawled properties to managed properties.
    Analytics processing component
    Carries out search analytics and usage analytics.
    Index component
    Receives the processed items from the content processing component and writes them to the search index. This component also handles incoming queries, retrieves information from the search index and sends back the
    result set to the query processing component.
    Query processing component
    Analyzes incoming queries. This helps optimize precision, recall and relevance. The queries are sent to the index component, which returns a set of search results for the query.
    Search administration component
    Runs the system processes for search, and adds and initializes new instances of search components.
    If you ignore the need for redunancy (we may add another 2 search app servers for that later).

    According to your description, my understanding is that you want to deploy the search components in two search app servers.
    It depends on how many search service applications you need and the size of your environment.
