  • Display an XML file Content as a treeView in a SharePoint 2013 custom form edited with SharePoint Designer 2013

    Hello everyone,
Within a list form, user has to select a value amongst a huge number of availables options.
Instead of using something like a dropdown list, which would be very boring to parse, I would like to display possibles values in a treeview.
To do that, I tried to use an <Sharepoint:SPTreeView bind to a SharePoint:SPXmlDataSource who read data from an XML File.
    <SharePoint:SPXmlDataSource runat="server" DataFile="../../SiteAssets/App_Data/myfile.xml" AutoSave="True" XPath="" ID="myDataXml"></SharePoint:SPXmlDataSource>
    <SharePoint:SPTreeView runat="server" ID="MyTreeView" DataSourceID="myDataXml" />
But when I try to display the form in my web browser, an error occurs.
Therefore, my question is : Is it possible to display the content of an Xml file as a treeView in a SharePoint 2013 custom form edited with SharePoint Designer 2013 ?
If the answer is yes, how ? Which are the required properties for "SharePoint:SPXmlDataSource" tag and "SharePoint:SPTreeView"  tag ?
What are the requirements to use thoses tags ?
    Regards,
    Florian.
Ps : I dont have access to the server side of the SharePoint site I am working on.

Assuming that https://fullsitename is a new URL address did you make sure to update your browser to include it in the Trusted Sites zone?  The message you are quoting is exactly the one you get if you don't have it in Trusted Sites.

Do SharePoint 2013 Online have Distributed Cache?

yes, it is. but what you want to know about Online & DC? are you planning any solution for it?
Not available to SharePoint Online customers. SharePoint Server 2013 customers can use the Distributed Cache service to
cache feature functionality, which improves authentication, newsfeed, OneNote client access, security trimming, and page load performance.

  • SharePoint 2013 access to custom lists a user creates

In an InfoPath custom list form 2013, I have setup a group of test users with 'view' access to my test SharePoint website. These users are able to enter data in a custom list.
When the user looks at the data that they originally entered by accessing the data from the sharepoint website, the InfoPath Form looks like the form is read only. However if the user clicks the auto generated edit buttons on the top of the form, they are
able to change the data in the list.
Basically I would like a way for the user to not be able to change the original data in the custom list.
Is there a way that I can accomplish this goal like:
    1. disable the autogenerated buttons,
    2. have all the textboxes set as read only,
    3. change some kind of an access level?
Would you let me know what method works and how to accomplish my goal?

In InfoPath Designer go to File, Info, Form Options.
In the Web Browser category uncheck Show InfoPath Commands in Ribbon or Toolbar.

  • SharePoint 2013 error while opening listing page

    Dear All,
I have upgraded my SharePoint 2007 to SharePoint 2010 and SharePoint 2013.
Currently I m facing problem whenever I click on any list pages (eg. Press Release) on Sharepoint 2010 and 2013 application.
Attaching the error message. Please help.

Is there any custom code used in the master page or other pages?
I'd suggest you open the PR_listing.aspx page in SharePoint designer and then do a search for "ServerContext" and if you get a match, then you or a developer will need to update the code to use the SPServiceContext approach instead.
If you don't get a match on ServerContext then you'll need to look at what custom controls are being used - and if I were you I'd comment each one out until the page loads.

  • SharePoint 2013 SQL Server Edition for BI Features - must be on SharePoint SQL Server?

I need to install SQL Server 2012 for a new SharePoint 2013 installation.
Let's say I want to use the BI features of SharePoint 2013 like PowerView.
I already have a separate SQL Server running SQL Server 2012 BI Edition that is used as the database server for our data warehouse and some apps.  But this SQL Server will not be used to house the SharePoint 2013 databases.
Do I need to install SQL Server 2013 BI Edition on the SharePoint 2013 SQL Server (where the SharePoint 2013 databases will be housed) or can I used SQL Server 2013 Standard Edition on that server and utilize the BI Edition on the data warehouse server to
use the BI features of SharePoint?

Yes, BI or Enterprise must be installed on the SharePoint server in order to integrate SSRS. PowerPivot can be on a separate server with just a download (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35577) for certain components residing on
the SharePoint server. This will give you PowerView, as well.

  • Fetching workflow status from Extended Properties in SharePoint 2013 sequential workflow (Farm solutions) option

    HI,
I am using VS 2012, I have selected the option "sharepoint sequential workflow (Farm solution) option and not the workflow App model.
Earlier in SharePoint 2010, the approver status column can be got from ExtendedProperties["TaskStatus"] and which contained either "#" or "@" as its value.
However, in SharePoint 2013, the ExtendedProperties does not contain the "TaskStatus" key. In the quickwatch, i was able to see the value as "#" associated to some guid key. In the debug mode,i can see the below:
    (new System.Collections.Hashtable.HashtableDebugView(TaskPropertiesForManagerAfter.ExtendedProperties)).Items[12]
But I’m not sure how to get to it from the code?
How to retrieve the Task Status using ExtendedProperties in SharePoint 2013?
    Thanks

Having problems getting SPD 2013 installed on my laptop because of a trial of O365, but I know in SPD 2010 you could find the BCC fields, etc... in the Advanced properties, it wasn't directly available via the common interface.  I know 2013 is very
different from 2010, and if I can get it to install correctly, I will update, but look for an advanced property, or an XML view where you can find the FROM: field.

  • Workflow in SharePoint 2013: Update item in list

I have a task list where anyone can post a suggestion for a blog. There is a string field for the status.
I have a library where the author can upload the blog article when ready to send for review. Uploading the document triggers the workflow to start. This document is reviewed twice and when the author is satisfied it will go for translation and then for web
    publication.
All of this is worked out in the workflow except for one thing: I would like to update the task list at each stage of the process to the current status. Since it can all be done programmatically, I don't need to use a "choice" field. The string
field would be just fine. One of the things I saw in my research is that "choice" fields won't update.
I have put a lookup field in the blog article library to correspond with the title in the task list to create a relationship.
First of all, is it possible to do to update a task from a document library, or am I just spitting in the wind? If so, why doesn't it work?

which specific field you want to update after task approval. Did you create a content type based on workflow task (SharePoint 2013) and associated that particular content type with your task list?
I repeat my question - do you want to update task list after the task execution or just after assignment?
If its just after assignment then I think its not possible OOB and if its after the execution of the task then its doable OOB since there are two variables set as task out i.e. task outcome and TaskID (guid of the current task list item) and from that TaskID
you can lookup the task list item and update any field.

  • SharePoint 2013 names for custom lists

I have the following to mention about changing the name of a custom list for SharePoint 2013.
    1. In my test SharePoint area the person that is our 'admin' for SharePoint, went to the 'recent' area of my test area in quick launch and changed the name of my Custom list. The features like email messages did not work at the point.
    2. I then went to list settings on the test website, and changed the name of the custom list to match the name my 'SharePoint' admin changed the name to. I reran my test workflow, and the features started to work again like the email messages.
**Note: Myself and the SharePoint 'admin' person at my company have only worked with sharepoint 2013 for 3 weeks.
Thus can  you tell me relationship of changing the name of the custom list in the 'quick launch' area versus changing the name is the list settings? Do both areas need the values changed?

    Your observation is currect
Quick Launch name change actually change name in navigation item (site settings -> navigation) which don't change anything on actual list. That is just a "text to display"
If you change actual list name from settings it should impact Quick Launch if "Display this survey on the Quick Launch?" Set as Yes from list general settings
I will suggest you to explore,
    site settings -> navigation

  • SharePoint 2013 Community Site Discussion List Custom View Issue

I need to create a custom view to show the discussions updated in the past 7 days and ordered by most replies.  I have created a custom view based on the subject view and included the following columns:
    Body
    Category
    Last Updated
    Modified By
    Replies
    Subject (linked to item
the problem is that when you click on the subject link, it does not return that discussion.  We get the message that There are no items to show in this view.
This happens even if I use the Flat or Threaded view option when creating a custom view.

You haven't most probably set the "Folders" property when setting up the view. Go to Folders property and set Show this view: In the top-level folder. Also, in Sort property select Replies column and set it to Show items in descending
order and in Filters property set Last Updated column "is less than or equal to" [Today]+7

  • SharePoint 2013 WCF Reading a list with a column to allow multiple lookup values

    Hi Team,
I'm using SP2013 default WCF in _vti/bin/ListData.svc to read a list.
This list has a look up column and it allows multiple values. While I read the list, I'm not able to retrieve this column as list.
For Example, my parent list is 'VehicleList' and this has a column called-ColorLookUp (lookup with allow multiple values) linked to the 'ColorsList'.
    Pseudo Code:
    var vehicleItemsList=spcontext.VehicleList.toList();
    foreach(var item in vehicleItemsList)
    var colorItemList=item.ColorLookUp
I'm expecting the 'colorItemList' should have values but it always gives me the count=0. But the same lookup column works if I dont allow multiple values.
    Please help me on this.
    thanks

    Hi,
For the Lookup column, “Expand” is required if you want to get it through ListData.svc.
A code snippet for your reference:
    var items = dc.List1.Expand("MyLookupColumn1");
    foreach (var item in items)
    Console.WriteLine(item.Title);
    foreach (var lk in item.MyLookupColumn1)
    Console.WriteLine(lk.Title + "---" + lk.Path);
Feel free to reply if there still any questions.

  • Is there any option for voting on a list item in SharePoint 2013?

    Dear All,
I am looking for a feature vote a for list item from multiple users and need to show consolidated results on that.
for SharePoint 2013 we have "like", "rating" by using these can we show the consolidated results.
otherwise is there any alternative for this.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Jithendar

I haven't seen any OOB vote feature in sharepoint list. It's better to go with "like" or "ratting" options.

  • Sorting and filtering by select-multi person or group field in the list in SharePoint 2013

    Hi everybody,
In SharePoint 2013, I have defined a column as "Person or Group" field, which you allow for multiple selections. when I try to sort/filter it by this field in the list. The field doesn't show up in the dropdown. If I changed "Allow multiple
selections" option to "No" by clicking the column name to edit it in "List Settings", the field can show up sort in the dropdown.
How about support sorting and filter by select-multiple "Person or Group" field in sharepoint 2013?
BTW, in SharePoint 2010, it can support this issue no matter what the "Allow multiple selections" option the request is.
    Any help would be great!
    Thanks,
    Jodie

    Hi Jodie,
Can you please give this as a try.
To fix the Filter Issue on Assigned To Column. We need to run the following scripts.
The field which allows more than one values or which allows multiple selections. The multi-valued fileds are non-sortable,
non-filterable. Multi-valued fields cannot be indexed
    $web=Get-SPWeb
    $list=$web.Lists[] $field=$list.Fields[ColumnName] $strSchema=$field.SchemaXml $str=Schema$strSchema.Replace("Sortable=`"FALSE`"","Sortable=`"true`"")
    $field.SchemaXml = $strSchema
    Krishana Kumar http://www.mosstechnet-kk.com
Thanks for your reply, I have tried to run the scripts, but it still cannot work. The following is my scripts:
    $web=Get-SPWeb 'http://cst-server-01'
    $list=$.web.Lists["Product Request"]
    $field=$list.Fields["Applicant"]
    $strSchema=$field.SchemaXml
    $str=Schema$strSchema.Replace("Sortable='"FALSE'"", "Sortable='"True'"")
    $field.SchemaXml = $strSchema
