SharePoint Task List using Workflow for approver chain, gathering information from another list.

What I have is a Custom List, that got the following fields for each item.
ApplicationName(SingleText) OwnerApproval(Person) ManagerApproval(Person) InstallExeuction(Person)
Example data:
| ApplicationName: Photoshop
| OwnerApproval: Mister Blue
| ManagerApproval: Mister Red
| InstallExecution: IT Group
What I have now then, is a task list as well. Where the user can press new task, and type in their PC name (singletext) and a dropdown menu to choose what application they want, for instance Photoshop.
I'm not trying to make a workflow that starts when a new item is created to send an email to the OwnerApproval set for this specific application, Photoshop, if he approves it, a new email should be sent to ManagerApproval specific application, Photoshop.
And if the last person ManagerApproval accepts it, a last email should be sent to InstallExecution, which if this person approves the task is marked as completed.
I've been trying for mad now using SharePoint Designer and I almost got it to work.
Can anyone help me? I'm going mad here, I have VERY LIMITED knowledge in sharepoint designer.

To achieve this goal, we can create with three Start a task process steps in the workflow and the workflow needs to be set to start when an item is created.
For example, the custom list is called Custom, and the task list is called Task Custom.
We can use the Task Status column for showing as Rejected or Excuted/Installed based on the users’ approval, so we need to add Rejected and Excuted/Installed values to the Task Status column. (same settings for Custom:ManagerApproval and Custom:InstallExecution
as Custom:OwnerApproval with their own column value)

According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to copy list column information to another list.
You can use the out of the box actions to accomplish this with SharePoint.
If you only want to copy column information to another list, you can use the “Update List Item” action. In the action, you can get the current item value and set the value to another list item.
If you can to copy list item to another list, you can use the “Create List Item” action and select the other list.
If you want to delete the current list item, you can use the “Delete Item” action.

Workflow for Approval of Appropriation Request

Dear experts,
I have been working on Workflow for Approval of Appropriation Request.
Even after carrying out all the required configuration, the process is not working. Following are the symptoms:
When appropriation request is submitted for Approval, I am maintaining user ids of approvers in the Partner field.The moment I click For Approval status the Approve Button is deactivated.Even when I log in from the Approver's user ID the button is Deactivated.
When I check the Business Workplace Inboxes of Approvers there are no Workflow related mails.
please help me out

Have you maintained all the configurations related to Work flow in IMG? like activating event linkage, assigning agents, approval schema etc...
Also, have you maintained the workflow automatic configuration in transaction SWU3,
you have to maintain the following:
1. create a user id WF-BATCH, user type system and maintain a password for this user (seek BASIS team help for doing this)
2. Assign SAP_ALL & SAP_NEW in user profile tab.
3. in SWU3, under Maintain Runtime Environment --> Maintain Workflow System Administrator , select line and click on execute button, select user - WF-BATCH, save and back.
4. then in the same screen select *Configure RFC Destination * click on execute, system prompts with the user id mentioned in the above step, you enter the password mentioned in the first step, click OK.
5. now select *Maintain Runtime Environment * click on perform automatic configuration button (f9).
6. Ensure that the option Maintain Runtime Environment turns to Green tick mark.
7. select Classify Tasks as General click on perform automatic configuration button (f9).
8. Ensure that the option Maintain Runtime Environment turns to Green tick mark.
Now can go to transaction SWDD, on the left side of the screen, in the field WORKFLOW enter this value* WS00300022* press enter. Click on test (F8) button.
In the Test Work flow screen select BUS2104 line, it shows a new line at the bottom of the screen with the following options:
Object type: BUS2104, Key:
You enter the appropriation request number in the field key (you cannot directly enter value here, choose drill down option (f4) then a new window pops up, enter the approp request number, click ok.
then click on execute (f8).
Now you can check in the approver's business work place under Inbox - workflow.

What is the condition that u are using the Condition Statement.
Please check the status returned from the Approval Process, by analyzing the Workflow Log for the particular step.

Per my knowledge, if you want to populate the Assigned To column value from another list in the New Item form in SharePoint Designer, then you need to use code to achieve this goal.

After that, the values will be populated in the New Item form after you have selected the lookup column value.
If you just want to set the Assigned To filed value, then you can use workflow to update the column value after creating the task.

Can I assign a task based on information from another column?

For example:
Let's say I have a column called "Question Type" and this column has multiple checkbox choice, those being:
     Math
     Science
     History
     English
     Other
I want to allow users to be able to select multpile catagories for the question, like making one both math and science (which right now is completely possible)
I then want another column that says who the problem is assigned to. Bob is good at math, Joe at science, Jill at histroy, Jenn at English, and Billy handles everything else.
1) Is there a way that the task can be automatically assigned to my math expert Bob when I specify that the item I am adding is a math problem?
2) If I make a problem both math and science, can the task be assigned to both Bob and Joe?

According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to assign a task based on information from another column.
To assign task to multiple users, you need to:
Create a workflow and add action: Start Approval Process.
Click these user, select the Group, change One or a time(serial) to
All at onec(paralle).
Right click the action, select Properties, click ExpandGroups, change No to
Yes.
Then you can assign task to each member of the group.
I recommend to follow the steps as below to achieve what you want:
Create a custom list, add columns: Question Type(Choice); Assigned to(Person or Group).
Create a workflow associated the list.
Add conditions and action as below:
Then the task can be automatically assigned to 123 when the item is a math problem.
In addition, if you make a problem both math and science, the task can be assigned to both 456 and 789.
You can add other conditions to satisfy all the requirements.

Get information from multiple lists

Hi,
Environment: - SharePoint 2013
Question :- My client needs a get information from multiple list from the same site to be displayed on the page,
they would need a dropdown list with the user names , and once a user is selected all the tasks and calendar entries of the user must be filtered and displayed.
Please suggest how this can be achieved.

Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to get information from multiple lists once a user was selected.
There is no out of the box way to accomplish this with SharePoint.
As a workaround, I recommend to create a list to store the user names. Then you can create relationships between lists using the browser UI. Once you select the user name in the parent list, the associated items will be displayed in the child lists.

Component to allow the user to build a list from another list's items

Hello everybody,
I'm looking for a widget that allows the user to create a list by choosing from items from another list.
Something like the tool to customize the button bar in MS Office or MS Explorer. You can see an example of what I'm talking about:
