Sharing an Apple ID for movies/tv shows only?

My husband and I are currently both running iPhones (4 for him, 4S for me) and two brand new iPads.  We have separate iCloud accounts and apple IDs because we both had older iPhones before we met.
The only thing we really wish to share is movies/tv shows, as we don't really use the same apps and listen to different music mostly (I rarely download music from iTunes to begin with).  I have never downloaded any movies, so in that regard I'm starting fresh, but now that we have the iPads I would like to watch our growing movie collection which is all under his apple ID.  I don't mind using his apple ID for everything from the app store/iTunes from now on if it makes things easier, but how can I keep the apps I have already downloaded to my iPad?  I don't plan to download any movies to my iPhone and no music will go on the iPad, so I don't mind continuing to purchase music from my own apple ID and using that on my iPhone, and using my husbands apple ID for my iPad, but I have already paid for several apps and I'd rather not lose them, nor do I want his app purchases syncing to my iPad.  (I do, however, want app purchases to sync from my iPhone to my iPad.)  Is there a way for me to get our movies to my iPad with a computer?  Really, what is the simplest way for me to watch our movies without having to use the same apple ID?  What do you all recommend for us?
Sub question- is there a way to combine ALL previous purchases (music, apps, movies, tv) on our shared desktop and then select manually what syncs to each device?
This whole not being able to sync more than one Apple ID to a device for 90 days is really killing me.  That does apply to apps as well, right?

That actually has very little to do with my original question.
For anyone with the same problem I had, I did eventually make the leap and it turned out to be an easy solution for us.  Since I had never bought any movies and rarely buy music (which is oodles more transferrable than movies and tv anyhow) I just started using my husband's account for everything.  The issue I was worried I would have- not being able to update apps and such- turned out to be moot, since the updater just prompts me for the password to whichever account the app was originally downloaded under.  So never fear, if you decide to use one out of two accounts you will still be able to update apps and not worry about that 90-day switch.
This will become an issue someday when we upgrade our stuff, but at that point I'll probably just bite the bullet and re-purchase any apps I hadn't bought under his ID.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    I'm not sure what there is to tell. Just use the Apple ID you wish to share to log into the iTunes store (Settings > iTunes & App Stores) and the seperate Apple ID's you want to use for iCloud (Settings > iCloud)

    Artwork on my iPad does not match iTunes and is not correct for Movies, TV Shows and some songs & Albums. Is this issue resolved? If so what was or is the fix. I have not been successful in locating that.  I found posts stretching back into late 2010.

    most of these items were downloaded from eihter iTunes or in the case of movies, imported into the app and then loading them to TV Series or Movies as appropriate. They were all fine until about two days ago when I did a sync. Then the artwork went haywire. I tried manualy removing and replacing the artwork in iTunes with the correct jpg's. and then re-sync. iTunes shows everything OK, but the iPad is the one with it all messed up.

    No, it all depends on the length of the movie or tv show. I never have seen a movie longer than 3 hours on the iTMS.

    Since your iPhone has hanged on you follow these steps
    Hold the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button until it switches off, do not let go,
    Keep holding until you see the Connect to iTunes symbol
    Now you can let go and plug in your iPhone to your computer and restore from backup!

    Really?! Its outrageous that I can't buy TV shows, Movies, or any of the extras that are on the American store because I live in Canada. Its ********. If there is any work around to this, please let me know. I tried making a separate apple ID but my credit card wouldn't go through because it was on my main Canadian account. I think its time for Apple to start stepping up and supporting the Canadian store more than it does.

    The availability of certain item in a certain store depends on the will of the copyright holder, it's not Apple's choice not to offer them.
    And in addition:
    In order to buy from a certain country's iTMS you do need -
    * either a CC with a billing address in that certain country.
    * or an address in that certain country plus a gift voucher/prepaid card issued by that certain iTMS.
    If you don't meet one of this conditions there is "no go".

    We recently bought a new Apple TV and I am trying to group movies like Harry Potter and TV programs into one folder. I have researched this online and got a hint that I should select the group of movies I want and command I and under the video tab and show line I entered what I wanted it to show. When I re-launched my Apple TV the folder isnt there. Also when I go back into the video tab the show button has now un selected itself. No other method has shown up. I hope this can be done.     The playlists would be in the movie section, not in music.
    Check you have video playlists enabled in settings.
    Yes I'm disappointed there is no grouping of movies, with my home movies I have over a thousand movies and the list is too long without grouping, I'm also disappointed that TV shows are listed in groups of series instead of shows as was the case on the Apple TV 1, I have 19 series of one show and the list of TV shows is as awkward as movies.

    You can share the same ID for iTunes (in Settings>iTunes & App Store) and still have separate iCloud accounts with separate IDs.  They don't have to be the same.
    If you're sharing the same iCloud account now and want to migrate your data to a new account, start by saving any photo stream photos that you want to keep to your camera roll (unless already there) by opening your my photo stream album, tapping Select, tapping the photos, tap the share icon (box with upward facing arrow), then tapping Save to Camera Roll.  If you are syncing notes with iCloud that you want to keep, you'll need to open each of your notes and email them to yourself so you can later copy and paste the text into new notes created in your new account.  Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account (which only deletes it from this device, not from iCloud; your mother's phone won't be effected by this), provide the password to turn off Find My iDevice and choose Keep on My iDevice when prompted.  Then sign back in with a different Apple ID to create your new account and choose Merge to upload your data.

    Your camera is not compatible with iMovie so you will need to convert the DVD files to something iMovie can use...read this:

    I am using multiple Apple TV's in a business environment within one network. It all works fine except the fact that people with a remote control or remote app can configure them, which is unwanted. Is there any way to lock the Apple TV so it cannot be used by any remote feature anymore? Or is there another suggestion that might solve my issue?

    Block the IR receiver to stop physical remotes from working.
    Use an Apple ID that no one else has for enabling Home Sharing, or don't enable it.
    The Remote app requires Home Sharing be enabled on the ATV and that the ATV and iOS device use the same Apple ID.

  • Is there a way for "history" to show only history on that device?

    With the latest Yosemite changes it appears now that the browser "history" shows the history on all the icloud devices.  That is, at one time when I searched on my iMac, the history showed there.  If on the iPhone, it showed there.  Now, if I search something on my iPhone, it's immediately showing in the history on my iMac when the user goes to history.
    I don't want that.  Is there a way to not show the history aside from having separate icloud profiles for each desired device?   I'm not finding any setting that does this so far but perhaps I'm overlooking something.

    There is a switch in the jack that may be stuck. Try plugging and unplugging a headset plug into the socket a few times.
    You might try dipping the headset plug into some pure alcohol, wiping it nearly dry, and repeating the process to clean/clear the socket.

  • No genius recommendations anywhere for movies, only on Apple TV for shows

    I'm having trouble working out if Genius is working properly or I have done something wrong.
    AppleTV model MD199FD/A, software 6.2 (6698.99.50.31)
    I have Genius turned on in iTunes 11.2.2 on my Mac. I get Genius recommendations there, on the Apple TV and on my iPad (iOS 7.1.1) for music that I have purchased. So far so good. The music purchases were done on the Mac. All three devices use the same Apple ID.
    Where things get confusing is with my TV show purchase which was done on the Apple TV. I get TV show recommendations only on the Apple TV. Shouldn't I see those on the other devices?
    Furthermore for movies I have only been doing rentals and only on the Apple TV. For movies I get no recommendations on any device. Surely Genius is not just looking purchases?
    This doesn't make sense to me, shouldn't I be seeing the same recommendations everywhere?

    I'd still really love to figure this one out. Even just in iTunes itself I just have recommendations for music. I should at the very least have show recommendations as I have purchases. For movies, I should also, assuming rentals count towards that. Any ideas?
