Sharing applications (Quicken) wirelessly?

We have a new iMac with OS X Leopard, a Powerbook G4 with Mac OS X 10.4.10 and Airport Extreme, which we currently use to print wirelessly. The iMac has Quicken 2007 and currently I have to physically go to the iMac to enter my transactions. I would like to be able to access the iMac from my Powerbook in order to enter Quicken transactions wirelessly. Is it possible to do so with our current configuration? If not, what do I need to be able to do so?
Thanks.

I posted the same question and never got a reply.. you might have 2 choices... update the file using bluetooth (manually) only thing is not forgetting what system has the newer file.. or use a network drive like "Jungledisk" .. I have tried the first and works fine.. I just upgraded the desktop to 10.5 and just installed "jungledisk" on that one so I haven't had a chance to try it that way. but I think it will work..
Good luck

  • Why can I not see shared applications on iTunes on a Mac but can on Itunes under Windows

    Hello
    1. I have a Mac Laptop, a Windows 7 laptop and an IPAD Air. I have an application on the IPad that shares files.
    2. On both the Windows and Mac machines, I have the latest versions of ITunes installed.
    3. With Image and IPhoto, I can browse the Documents directory of the shared application on the IPAD.
    4. On the Windows Machine, on ITunes, under the Apps section, at the bottom of the screen, I can see the shared application and the shared Documents directory.
    5. On my Mac Machine, on Itunes, under the Apps section, at the bottom of the screen, I can NOT see the same shared application on the IPAD that I see on the Windows machine.
    6. In the upper right corner of Itunes on the MAC it does show "1 App" but I see no way to click on the app under ITunes and to browse the shared directory on the IPad
Any thoughts on what I have to do to make the Shared App show up on the Mac that shows up on the Windows machine in ITunes?

Did you put your audiobooks on your computer?
They will only be where you put them.  You need to copy them from your old computer or your backup copy of your old computer.

  • View Objects in the shared application module is not refreshing

    Hi ,
I have view objects defined shared apps module. This view objects are used for creating lovs which won't change very frequently. I have set the AutoRefresh=true for this view objects. I do have a UI to update the underline table for these lovs. The view objects defined in the shared application module is not getting reflected even I add a new value in the database. Is there any way to refresh these lovs as soon as its added to db?
    Thanks
    Suneesh

    I will explain my scenario ;
I have a view object(ViewA) where I have defined many LOVs for different attributes. Thes LOVs are using the shared application module's view object (shared_view1,shared_view2...etc) as List DataSource. Where exactly I need to set the auto refresh property=true. Currently I have set all of my shared apps view objects's(shared_view1,shared_view2...etc) autorefresh property=true.Do I need to use the autorefresh =true in the ViewA ?
What is the concept of autorefresh=true ? Wiill it refresh automatically the view object nexttime i am accessing the page after the db inserts ? Is there any time delay there ? if there is it something configurable ?
    Thanks

  • Internet Sharing w/o wireless

There's a preponderance of info out there on setting up Internet sharing which involves wireless. I'm looking to setup internet sharing on my MacPro (has 2 ethernet ports) wired/directly connected (read: crossover cable connection) to a WinXP box. I have Internet Sharing turned on to share from Ethernet 1 to computers using Ethernet 2.
I've tested using the same subnet for all 3 ports, separate subnets for each MacPro port, adding routes, etc. and I'm still hitting a brick wall.
Please don't advise me to "just buy a cheap switch" or "just use wireless."
    Thanks in advance.

You don't need a Router to share the MacBook's Internet connection.
If you have an Ethernet cable connecting them...
Goto Sharing>Internet then to the right of Share Yor Connection from: Set it to Airport, below that check the To Computers Using: Ethernet box, then click Start button. Wait a few seconds for the Mac to hand an IP to the PC.

  • Security settings for print and file sharing on a wireless network.

I would like to gather some security information on file and print sharing on my wireless network before I set it up . What steps do I need to take to make it secure? Is it better to just buy a wirelss print server?
    Thanks

You can secure the wireless network, set a password on the shared resources or both.
The box said windows xp or better... So I installed Linux!

  • Installing Adobe Creative Suite to Shared Applications folder

    Hello,
I have a client asking to install Creative Suite to a shared application folder on the server. Can you anyone with some experience on this provide any feedback on performance, issues, stability etc? Is it even doable with Creative Suite to host it on the server, without using Home Directories?

If it can even be done performance is going to be devastated because of the fact that everything that "runs" need to be loaded over the network as opposed to from the local hard drive. If you think it takes too long for Photoshop to open now, you ain't seen nothing yet.
Without actually trying it first hand I can say it's not likely to be easy. Simply running the installer on the server definitely won't work. Creative Suite isn't a simple drag and drop install. There are a lot of shared components that get installed into locations other than the Applications folder and the clients won't know where to find them.
I hate to think the worst but the only reason I could even suspect wanting to do this would be to utilize a single licensed copy amongst multiple users which would be a license violation. I'd be wary.

  • Shared applications among user profiles?

My wife and I have separate user profiles for our home computer. When I upload photos she can not access them from iPhoto unless she is logged in to my profile. The same is true for me if she uploads photos.
Is there a way for us to have a universal or shared applications (at this time, specifically iPhoto) across multiple profiles?

    What you mean by 'share'.
If you want the other user to be able to see the pics, but not add to, change or alter your library, then enable Sharing in your iPhoto (Preferences -> Sharing), leave iPhoto running and use Fast User Switching to open the other account. In that account, enable 'Look For Shared Libraries'. Your Library will appear in the other source pane.
Any user can drag a pic from the Shared Library to their own in the iPhoto Window.
Remember iPhoto must be running in both accounts for this to work.
If you want the other user to have the same access to the library as you: to be able to add, edit, organise, keyword etc. The problem here is that OS X works very hard to keep your data safe and secure from the other users. You're trying to beat what's built in to the system. So, to beat the system
    Quit iPhoto in both accounts
Move the iPhoto Library Folder to an external HD set to ignore permissions. You could also use a Disk Image or even partition your Hard Disk.
In each account in turn: Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting dialogue, select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new library location. From that point on, this will be the default library location. Both accounts will have full access to the library, in fact, both accounts will 'own' it.
However, there is a catch with this system and it is a significant one. iPhoto is not a multi-user app., it does not have the code to negotiate two users simultaneously writing to the database, and trying will cause db corruption. So only one user at a time, and back up, back up back up.
Lastly: This method seems a little clunky at first, but works very well. Most importantly, it uses the System to do the job for you.
Create a new Account on your Mac, call it Media. Create an iPhoto Library there. (BTW: This will work for iTunes too.)
Enable Sharing on the Library:(Preferences -> Sharing), leave iPhoto running and use Fast User Switching to open the other accounts. In those accounts, enable 'Look For Shared Libraries'. The Library will appear in the other source pane.
This means that both users will be able to see the pics. If you want to use a pic then simply drag it from the shared Library to your own in the iPhoto Window. This means that each user can have their own edits.
If you want to add photos to the Library: Log into the Media account for that purpose.
To make it all seamless: Set your Mac to log into the Media Account automatically. Set iPhoto to launch on log-in. Then switch to your own account using Fast User Switching.
Net result: a Library that's permanently available to all users but also protected. Each user can have their own versions of the pics if they want.
No partitioning, no permissions issues. Uses no extra disk space. What's not to like?
    Regards
    TD

  • You can't open the application Quicken 2007 because PowerPC applications are no longer supported.

I upgraded to Mac OS X Lion and then tried to launch my Quicken 2007 for the MAC... Quicken would not start up...I received the following message "You can't open the application Quicken 2007 because PowerPC applications are no longer supported."
What can I do to slvage my financial records????

It sounds like you recently upgraded from Snow Leopard to Lion. As you have found out PPC appications such as Quicken are no longer supported. You will need to upgrade to other financial software, there are a number of them out there that will work fine on Lion. If you have a bootable clone you can boot from that and then export your Quicken data to a format most Lion finacial software can import. The software I chose is iBank which I like howevrer there are a number of other choices.
Your records are in tact and you may have to jump through some hoops to get to them but rest assured they are safely stored on your system. The file format iBank and other financial software is looking for is a .QIF so you can look on your system to see if you have .QIF already and when it is dated.
If you are interested in iBank here is a link to their Tutorials page and you will see how easy it is to import Quicken information:

  • OraInventories in r12 shared application tier

    Hi,
I have some doubts regarding oraInventories in r12.0.4 shared application tier
1)$ORACLE_home/inventory-->is local inventory located in evey oracle home RIGHT.
2)/r12/GOLD/inst/apps/GOLD_fbiprddb/admin/oraInventory-->it is global inventory which lists 10.1.2 and 10.1.3 homes only

    Hi,
1)$ORACLE_home/inventory-->is local inventory located in evey oracle home RIGHT?Already answered this above.
2)/r12/GOLD/inst/apps/GOLD_fbiprddb/admin/oraInventory-->it is global inventory which lists 10.1.2 and 10.1.3 homes only and is located on primary application node only.so when i apply patches to these homes using opatch and oui i should apply on primary application node RIGHT?Correct (except for the global inventory which is explained in my previous reply).
3)there is another global inventory on database tier which is primary application node also path-->/r12/GOLD/db/tech_st/10.2.0/admin/oui/GOLD_fbiprddb/oraInventory which lists only RDBMS_ORACLE_HOME.So when apllying patch to RDBMS i should show this path of oraInventory RIGHT?I believe there is only one global oraInventory directory, which can be found in oraInst.loc file. For other directories, those are local inventories.

  • Verifying a Shared Application Module

I have been looking at Shared Application Modules; I have created a small test application that utilizes a Shared Application Module. I would like to ensure that my implementation is OK, e.g., verify that only one instance of the Shared Application Modules is created. How can I do this?
In some forum, someone said that he tried to do this by “monitor the Application Pool “. How do I do this?
    Thanks

You can test this from the AM tester. Enable Debugoutput to Console as described here.
IF you use a VO instance from a shared AM as an LOV you will see the LOV query being printed only once.

  • Shared Application Tier -- NFS Single Point of Failure

I am trying to convince mgmt that Shared Application Tier via NFS is the only way to go.
Currently, we have a 4 node environment, 1 dedicated to database, then 3 application tiers.
Is there any reasonable fault tolerant solution for NFS ??
I am not a storage expert, but can a storage area be created on a SAN, then have all tiers NFS to the SAN area ??
Inherently, the SAN devices are fault tolerant and dual HBA's to dual SAN switches provide protection.
Am I missing something ?? By the way, we are a Solaris shop.

Hi atul, I notice that this may be a dead thread but I belive the answer to your question is that when you run autoconfig and chek the log you will notice that there is a preliminary stage where it says updating contect values int he databse. at that point if the database has a higher serrial number than the filesystem file then the filesystem contect file will be updated by the values in the database *( i assume not all of the values. this will then result in createion of an updated xml file. in fact the xml file is rewritten every time you run autoconfig*

  • RMS Protected PDF using RMS Sharing Application for Group Usesr

    Hi,
I have RMS Connector on premise & AZURE IRM server. I am protecting PDF document using RMS Sharing Application but when I am assigning permission to Group it does not open document saying that you don't have permission. But When I share the same document
    to single user it works.

    Hi,
As an owner you always have OWNERS permissions to the content you protect using RMS.
    1. Are you protecting your pdf in place or share protected?
    2. Are you assinging permissions using group e-mail instead of the group name?
    3. Are you using the newest version of RMS Sharing App - please update
